If the Scooby-Doo Mystery Gang wound up in Forks, WA, are they discovering vampires and if so do they survive the experience?
(dealer's choice which iteration, imho variations between the 1960s onward are pretty minor outside that one terrible show)
Bonus question: how would Aro react to Scooby the talking dog???
Are They Discovering Vampires and the Like
What's the mystery?
The thing about Scooby-Doo, at least from what I remember, is that the mystery's pretty clear pretty early in. The gang doesn't stick around long in an area and they're set on the case pretty early.
The thing about the Cullens is that they're odd but they're not a mystery. It's just a strange looking family and the doctor, but at least in the beginning of Twilight, nothing odd is happening in the town.
There are no thefts, no people disappearing, no threats being made. It's a perfectly ordinary town that just has this family with a skin condition.
Later, we do have the unfortunate disappearance of hikers, but there's an explanation for this too: bears. This is what the police readily conclude, and while it's more activity than they would normally expect it's not entirely unplausible, but it's not a fake ghost or haunting either.
It's sad, but not necessarily something that would draw their attention.
I don't see the gang getting tagged for being involved in the mystery, in other words. I think they'd pass right on through Forks without thinking anything of it.
Which means they live.
How Would Aro React to a Talking Dog

A pair of coloring book pages I made for a charity collab hosted by TommyGK's Charity Guild on Discord
Everyone entering could make up to two pages and the finished coloring books will be donated to a children's hospital
I added symbols to each character on the second page to ensure that kids could solve the connect-a-pair puzzle even if they didn't know all the characters
Also the reason why I added Dog and Robo from Robot Dreams on there is because watching that movie is what gave me the idea for that page (I highly recommend watching Robot Dreams, it's a beautiful, bittersweet movie with 0 spoken dialogue and great 2D animation)

daphne having a phobia of being touched/touching others is such a deep cut pick for her. she doesn't get kidnapped as often as people usually think but it HAS happened a couple times and i do think it was traumatic for her. like....the ghost clown dressed her up in that outfit while she was asleep. that's fucking creepy.
she IS very touchy-feely with the gang, though. and i think, having that phobia, it's a testament of how much she trusts them and loves them. hanging off of fred's arm, draping an arm around velma's shoulders, giving shaggy and scooby big hugs, while refusing to let anyone else come near her. she knows she can trust them and that they care about her safety.

please keep talking about mystery incorporated it's such an interesting show and I feel like it's not talked about enough outside of the big stuff (velma being a lesbian, scooby being an alien or something, the dog love triangle ect)
also I didn't even put together that the dog dies and marcy might've been connected until i read your post and my jaw dropped
I LOVE that show so so much and everything is CRAZY levels of connected. A red herring gag character in episode 3 with a silly name winds up being instrumental in one of the major reveals of season 2. So many of the villains wind up coming back with an important role to play, or else their crimes wind up giving the gang a clue to the mystery. People love to be like "Episode 2: the gang chase a family of kooky gator people! haha so silly :)" and forget how much the history of Gatorsburg is tied into the mystery of the entity (the alligators drag Porto away, giving Friar Serra the prophecy of how the animal companion must die to keep the world safe. The first key (the last one the gang use) to the entity's dimension is found in an empty grave there. The extinction of the population of alligators ties into the major themes of colonialism and capitalistic destruction.) Episode 5 has a weird genius kid as Fred's civics tutor and the villain, okay, fun one-off character. Episode 10 has a boy obsessed with Velma and his vengeful over-protective ex-military mother as the major characters. Marcie obviously gets more character development in early Season 2, but we don't really tend to think about the time she spent working in espionage for Mr E when it's more fun to focus on her enemies-to-lovers relationship with Velma. AND YET! All of this allows the gang to pull off their mid-Season-2 heist of the disk pieces from the original Mystery Incorporated! They would literally have not been able to do what they did without a preteen "victim", a robotics and chemistry expert, and someone with Marcie's specific knowledge of Mr E's business and secrets. Like it's INSANE how connected the apparently silly details of the show are.

SD really enjoys having Shaggy and Scooby as the resident scaredy-cats be the ones to love/befriend the monsters and I eat it up every time. Because, of course these guys are going to care and look after the Grimwood Girls even though their fathers are the stuff are nightmares. Yeah, they’re going to fall in love with Crystal and Amber and miss them even after their true forms are revealed. They’re going to become like family with Vincent Van Ghoul and pals with the Boo Brothers and when Shaggy thinks he’s going to turn into a vampire, Scooby still sticks by his side because he’s always going to love him more than he could be afraid of him. Because even though Shaggy and Scooby’s main trait is cowardice whenever there was an opportunity, they overcame it with compassion.

Saw that the color wheel challenge was going around and thought I'd give it a try, I drew one character each day over the course of 8, took me 20 hours in total. Some of these characters barely count but I just wanted an excuse to draw em-

WAIT i’m. oh man.
in the new timeline. fred’s name is still fred. there’s NO reason for this bc he wasn’t raised by fred jones sr and he wasn’t named fred jones jr. his last name is, presumably, chiles or some hyphenated chiles-reeves situation. but everyone is still calling him fred. the doylist explanation for this is obviously that they didn’t want to change his whole-ass name bc he’s a very well-known cartoon character and that would be one helluva schtick to pull in the last 5 minutes of the show. HOWEVER. as a watsonian explantion: do you think brad and judy named him after fred sr anyway? he would have been their teacher… if he had a strong positive impact on them, maybe in the new timeline he’s still named after his not-dad, too :’)

I have a complicated relationship with books. When I was a kid, I devoured them, I wouldn't discriminate, whatever I could get my hands on would be gone within hours. I took pride in my reading and what I gained from it. It was a huge part of my life and personality. And then my mental health started to get real bad. And I got bored and couldn't concentrate for long enough to sit and read a whole book. But mostly I got tired of books where I could guess what was gonna happen. I knew the patterns of ya fantasy or romance or dystopia or those new mental health books that made metaphors out of like a repeated motif of toast or whatever. I could always guess the ending and it left a bland taste in my mouth. I didn't want escapism anymore, I just wanted something new. I wanted characters I could relate to. I wanted nuance in a way that didn't feel performative. And now I'm neck deep in tma and I'm getting back into reading, trying to find books with queer poc, trying to read new genres (im getting more into horror), trying to read books with characters who feel real. And honestly tma played a huge role in getting me back into reading. The characters are what made me stick with it. I could talk forever and ever about how much I love when a story focuses on how a character changes within the plot, how they react to things, how they interact with others, how that is compared to other characters. I love reading about trauma responses and unreliable narrators and people making the best choices they can with the resources they have and royally fucking up and falling in love and hating themself and hating other characters and falling apart and bringing themself back together and positive character development and negative character development. That's the shit that gets me going. The fact that tma did all of that? Makes me feel like a kid again, flipping through the same Scooby Doo annual over and over.
