People give Mayor Jones way too much credit. Yes, he’s a better parent than Brad and Judy, but that’s an extremely low bar. They actively tried to kill Fred, so all the mayor needed to do was just not let him die to be seen as a comparatively good parent

I think it's really interesting/kinda sweet that despite Mayor jones protests about Fred creating traps, he still funds them. Atleast, if you think about it. I dont think any of the gang have jobs in mystery inc (though most of the families are rich) so Fred has got to have a credit card given to him by his dad with a monthly allowance from his father and Jones continues to give him that allowance (hypothetically) knowing that that money is going towards trapping gear

I mean it’s a tiny niche fandom from a “kid’s show” that ended over 10 years ago and was low key even when it came out. Seems like exactly the kind of thing a Tumblr community would be perfect for.

WAIT i’m. oh man.

in the new timeline. fred’s name is still fred. there’s NO reason for this bc he wasn’t raised by fred jones sr and he wasn’t named fred jones jr. his last name is, presumably, chiles or some hyphenated chiles-reeves situation. but everyone is still calling him fred. the doylist explanation for this is obviously that they didn’t want to change his whole-ass name bc he’s a very well-known cartoon character and that would be one helluva schtick to pull in the last 5 minutes of the show. HOWEVER. as a watsonian explantion: do you think brad and judy named him after fred sr anyway? he would have been their teacher… if he had a strong positive impact on them, maybe in the new timeline he’s still named after his not-dad, too :’)
