Not insane at all, quite understandable!

As it happens, you can find recordings of my voice in quite a few places on the internet, including

My podcast, The SquaMates Podcast (off air for more than a year and a half now, due to crazy schedules and life events, but there are many hours to be listened to anyway)

My TikTok (I am bad at this, as you will soon see, but I hope to find time to work on it)

Sometimes I do Facebook or Instagram live videos, mostly when I am measuring frogs

And I've done a few TV and radio interviews; an exhausting but not exhaustive list of media appearances or coverage of my work can be found on the Media page of my website.

You will quite quickly learn that my accent is wholly fucked, but has an American flavour to it because I lived in the US in my early childhood, but a largely British vocabulary (and spelling) because the rest of my life has been in Europe, very often among Brits. I am also an accent sponge, and tend to mirror other people's accents when speaking to them, which can get quite awkward.

DEBUNKING REALITY SHIFTING

I am not here to share my biases or anything hurtful. I am a shifter myself. As an active community i respect ur interest and devotion into reality shifting and i am so interested i am writing an article to understand it better. I am no scientist or journalist, just a writer trying to make sense of this fascinating thing. So i ask for a favor for those who are interested, if you aren't i won't force anyone don't worry.

My article is called "Shifting: a variant of dreaming? And how we don't understand our brain power yet" -- i am both taking the social understanding of it, through experiences and beliefs, and the science behind dreams, how our brain can perceive experiences and senses into the dream state and more.

i want to know the experience. Not the process. The experience after shifting, the way objects appear, the way sounds and touch feel, how vivid is it? Every detail i can get out of your experiences. That way, if it is really possible to do so, we can find a better way to achieve this.

I appreciate both shifting and non-shifting input.

These can be done publically or through dms, i don't mind which i am just here to get a better understanding of this topic. Getting the hard truths is my goal and i intend to keep it that way. as trurthful as possible.

Ok so scientists of Tumblr. Is it worth it to make a professional science Twitter? My current PI suggested I do to find opportunities but Twitter is Twitter and I don't want to touch it with a 10 foot poll. But, I am lacking in marine science opportunities and absolutely need to network.

So, strangers on the internet what's your opinion. Is science Twitter worth it?

I have a thesis from last year I didn’t get published (as hoped) in a journal but I do want to publish it myself just as a pdf on the internet that I can linked to my LinkedIn, researchgate, Instagram and tumblr accounts for anyone who wants to read it. there’s no point it just sitting there in my google drive (I’m gonna do the same with some other assignments from undergrad too and maybe even high school). can this be done

This goes out to programmers/researchers of Tumblr: can this be measured in any way? Like, is there a way to detect bots and count them in any social media platform? Sounds like it'd be a fun research project and it'll be insightful for everyone here. What would it take?

it's always wild to me how many people use social media exactly like the fake users they make up in tech demos do. just commenting on chipotle's post about a new type of steak like "😍 can't wait to try it!" and reacting to articles on mass death events with "😥"
