I cannot believe that the same man I protested alongside for BLM during the summer of 2020 got elected to be a state representative.... just for other lawmakers to put in a formal request for him and 2 others to be removed this year. Why do they want him removed, you ask? BECAUSE HE PROTESTED WITH 10,000+ STUDENTS YESTERDAY FOR BETTER GUN LEGISLATION, THEIR RIGHT TO FEEL SAFE IN SCHOOL, AND MORE!!
Representative Justin Jones, also known as Brother Jones to many of us here in TN, does not deserve this. He's a fantastic organizer and now state legislator who has repeatedly put his body, mental health, and life on the line for countless people. And the other two Reps., Gloria Johnson and Justin Pearson, don't deserve it either. Especially not for joining people they're meant to represent in a fight for their safety and rights.
If you wanna help them, please call Speaker Cameron Sexton's office at +1-615-741-2343 and leave a voicemail demanding they not unlawfully remove Reps. Jones, Johnson, and Pearson from their rightfully-elected positions. You can leave a name, real or not, and number if you want, but you don't have to. You can also email Speaker Sexton at [email protected].
PLEASE REBLOG THIS IF YOU SEE IT, AND PLEASE HELP IF YOU'RE WILLING AND ABLE TO!

tw for the nashville shooting & related transphobia
sorry i'm really fucking mad rn seeing how quickly transphobes are jumping on the "testosterone makes trans men violent killers"
because no fucking shit they're doing this. i'm so pissed at the people who act like there's no way transphobes would ever see transmascs as anything but helpless little girls, as if that narrative itself isn't something relatively new & only got popular because it was useful. of fucking course the minute they have an excuse they are going to switch from "T mutilates women's bodies" to "T makes women into psycho killers", especially non-radfems who don't give a damn about women's rights in the first place. the only reason that the pity narrative got big is because radfems changed their tune from "women betraying women to get male privilege" to "poor little girls swindled into betraying womanhood" which was useful to non-feminist conservatives & their desire to control women. now they have the perfect opportunity to change up their transphobia to make transmascs into dangerous murderers & even more justification to ban HRT & criminalize testosterone specifically.
transmascs have already had to deal with people assuming we will get more violent and aggressive after starting T before this, & i'm very worried that is going to become a mainstream transphobic narrative. just watch how quickly transphobes are gonna use this to demonize testosterone and people who take it. its already happening:

trans people, especially transmascs in the US, if you are triggered by violence and transphobia... do yourself a favor now and blacklist the terms "audrey hale," "aiden hale," "nashville," and "shooting" on every platform you can. do not look at the posts or articles. don't. it's okay to not know. there are others who can know about this without harming/endangering their health.
to those who already know and aren't okay. i know you're scared; i am too, and the feeling will pass. you're not alone. you deserve a happy, safe, joyous life, and there will always be people fighting for you, even when you can't see them or hear them or know them. please be gentle with yourself, and know your wellbeing comes first. do something comforting, talk to a friend, eat something yummy. breathe. sleep. you got this.

I wake up this morning and open YouTube and the first thing I see is yet another school shooting has happened. 3rd top video?
How this school shooting is a tragedy for the trans community and that they fear being targeted more now. And I'm like oh my gosh, were trans students killed in the shooting??
Click the video to watch and find out whats going on. Only to find out it was a trans identified shooter who went to an elementary school and killed 6 people, 3 kids and 3 adults. And the segment was about how this is a bad look and the trans community was worried it would mean they will be targeted.
And I'm just, am I in crazy town? 6 people were MURDERED. The last thing we should give a shit about is the shooter. The shooter and the community who he identified into are not somehow the real victims in all this.

So if y’all aren’t caught up with the shooting this morning:
Today, in Nashville, Tennessee, a 28 year old trans man broke into and opened fire on a Christian Elementary School.
According to CNN:
“Here's what we know so far:
About Covenant School: The school is a private Christian school founded in 2001 as a ministry of Covenant Presbyterian Church. It has an average enrollment of about 200 people in recent years, according to its website, and it teaches preschool through 6th grade.
What happened: Don Aaron, spokesperson for the Metro Nashville Police Department, said the first calls of an active shooting came in at around 10:15 a.m. local time. When officers arrived, they went through the first level of the building, he said. They then heard gunshots coming from the second level of the building, according to Aaron. He said that's where police confronted and killed the shooter at 10:27 a.m. local time.
The shooter: The shooter has been identified as 28-year-old Nashville resident Audrey Hale. The shooter was armed with a handgun and two AR-style weapons — one a rifle and an AR-style pistol, Metro Nashville Police Chief John Drake said. Two of those may have been obtained legally and locally in Nashville, Drake said. According to initial findings, the shooter was once a student at the school, he added, though he said police are unsure what years.
Prior planning: The shooter had drawn detailed maps of Covenant School, Drake said, including the entry points to the building and detailing "how this was all gonna take place." Drake said police believe the shooter shot through one of the doors to get into the school. Drake said the school was the only location targeted by the shooter. Police have also located a manifesto that they are reviewing.
The victims: The three students who were shot and killed at Covenant School were all 9 years old, police said. They have been identified as Evelyn Dieckhaus, Hallie Scruggs and William Kinney, according to police. Three adults were also killed in the shooting. They have been identified as 61-year-old Cynthia Peak, 60-year-old Katherine Koonce and 61-year-old Mike Hill, police said.
What's next: Police will spend the next two days processing the scene and working to gather more details about what happened during a shooting at a Nashville elementary school, Aaron said, adding police also intend to release video soon. Officials said they knew where the shooter lived and they have interviewed the shooter's father.
Call for gun safety legislation: President Joe Biden called the shooting at a Nashville school "heartbreaking, a family's worst nightmare," while advocating for gun reform. Biden said Congress needs to pass an assault weapons ban because we "need to do more to protect our schools." However, a bipartisan solution is extremely unlikely this Congress with a slim Democratic majority in the Senate and a GOP-led House. Nashville Mayor John Cooper said too many children are dying from guns and that the community needs to come together to support each other.
Mass shootings in America: The Nashville shooting is the 129th mass shooting in the US so far in 2023, according to data from the Gun Violence Archive. The Gun Violence Archive, like CNN, defines a mass shooting as one in which at least four people are shot, excluding the shooter.”

Obviously Twitter is having a hayday with this, right-wingers seemingly celebrating the fact that the shooter was transgender.
If you choose to care more about what the shooter identified as, rather than the LITERAL children and teachers that were killed, you are a despicable human being and you deserve everything that comes to you.
Please feel free to add more info in reblogs/replies!

Anti-gun-control conservatives have been touting locked doors as the solution to school shootings for a while now. Want to guess what happened to the locked side door at the Nashville school where a shooting took place this week?
Turns out bullets are stronger than doors.

Really scared and angry right now about the Nashville shooting and its potential aftermath. First and foremost, my condolences go to the victims’ families, as well as the students and staff of the school, but I’m also really nervous about what this could mean for the trans community, given the perpetrator was trans. The actions of one individual do not define a population, but with the rise of anti-trans legislature and rhetoric in America, especially in conservative-majority states, I’m worried that this tragedy could be used to further persecute trans people and detract from the central issue of gun violence. I want to offer my support both to the people who are grieving and to the trans community, and am beyond angry at the politicians and public figures who are exploiting the shooting to further harm both trans people and victims of gun violence.

You know, at this point I think Republicans actively want more school shootings because they hate public schools and want parents to pull their kids to be homeschooled instead. They've proven time and time again that they DO NOT GIVE A SHIT WHETHER CHILDREN LIVE OR DIE, it's disgusting, it's monstrous, they're fucking demons! There will never be any reforms, no changes, no solutions, just more death, over and over and over, forever! When Uvalde happened, I told myself that I didn't want to forget it. I didn't want to forget the names and faces, but these shootings happen so often they all just blue together and politicians pretend it's no big deal. There will never be a tipping point for them. This is completely normal. This is what they want. This is what half the fucking country wants, and I just can't wrap my head around how fucking vile that is. We are trapped in a society of sociopaths! What will it take to fix this? The only answer I can think of is illegal to say, and even then they would refuse to budge. I fucking hate this country. I want nothing more than to move away. God damn the United States.

It's so weird how people act like it's impossible to identify a future school shooter when 90% of them are entitled white boys with easy access to guns and a violent hatred of minorities
#people were so quick to blame the nashville shooting on the shooter being trans#but dont blame most school shootings on the visceral hatred of minorities and women and gun culture#its not a mental health issue when the entire country is mentally ill and only a very specific category of person does the shootings#how is this still being speculated it is so so obvious

I just saw someone say that a trans woman was the shooter at that private school in Nashville, TN (not far from me) today. And I'm just hoping and praying that's not fucking true. It's not like it's unexpected for my fellow Tennesseeans to make shit up like that for the sake of being transphobic, but so little is known right now that I can't disprove it. They didn't even give the name of the shooter until like an hour ago. If it is a lie, though, I just.... I know they hate us this much, but jfc I can't believe they hate us this fucking much.

Is the Nashville shooter even a trans man? (genuine question, people are saying lots of different things and I don't trust mainstream media)
Yes, it's been confirmed in multiple places that he was transgender, used he/him pronouns online and asked to be addressed as Aiden & male in a Facebook post (screenshot from CNN, Maria Colomy taught him at college):
For some. fucking. reason. Even though virtually ever news article I've seen says he was transgender and used he/him pronouns. They KEEP using she/her and calling him a "woman" because they. don't know enough about his gender identity??? It's so infuriating and obviously he's not the biggest victim here but like. if the police said he was trans, his Facebook clearly showed he used he/him pronouns, and an old teacher confirmed he wanted to be called Aiden and male, then why the FUCK are we continuing to use she/her and Audrey and "woman" and saying shit like "ohhh we know SHE was trans but we can't be sure what SHE identified as so we'll just continue to call HER AUDREY" I think I've seen exactly ONE article use they/them pronouns. Literally in the SAME ARTICLE as that screenshot a few paragraphs up they said this:
UNCLEAR??? ARE YOU FUCKING SURE?????? DO YOU WANT HIS GHOST TO PERSONALLY WHISPER HIS PRONOUNS IN YOUR EAR???????
Basically don't blame yourself for being confused because for some reason the media has decided to be extremely fucking confusing. It doesn't help people thinking he was a trans woman when people keep acknowledging he was trans but misgendering him. I would understand this from conservative media but I don't get why suddenly everyone forgot how trans people work the minute this happened.
#that article is from an hour ago btw so it's not like they don't fucking know. I literally do not get this#m.#ask box#nashville shooting tw#mass shooting tw#school shooting tw

im transmasc and IN nashville. i live like a block from where it happened. im so stressed i feel like my skull is imploding on my brain. this was upsetting enough without giving the gun nuts a minority group to blame, one that includes me and a lot of people i care about who have already been suffering under transphobic legislation lately. and i have to pretend its not personal because im in the closet from my family. i dont know what to do. i havent seen tumblr talking about it much yet so i read the tag until i found your post. thanks. we need messages of hope right now
oh my god anon, i hope you and your community can stay safe. i cant imagine how it must feel to have to keep everything inside right now. any shooting is horrific enough on its own, but it burns my soul to think of how people will entice even more violence in response. im glad you found my post and if you ever lose hope, know me and many, many others will always keep hope held for you. for all of us.
and i know you're just saying how you feel/what you're going through, but thank you for sending this. r*dfems found my post and are of course being awful. i know they're demonizing us, but i still felt guilty and selfish because of them. yet knowing my post comforted(?) a transmasc at the center of it all, that. that really helped. <3

grieving for the lives lost today, but terrified how the media is going to spin the fact that the shooter was trans. with the current climate in the US around trans people, this will definitely embolden those who want to eradicate us and call us predators

Love how this latest shooting means that half the people are going to focus on 'the evil of trans people' and the other half will focus on 'the evil of guns', and absolutely nothing will be done to help people, but someone will end up violating your rights :)
