Benefits of Summer Testing with a School Psychologist
Summer can be a good time for testing your child with a school psychologist for several reasons:
1. Reduced Academic Demands: During the summer months, most students are on a break from school, which means they have fewer academic responsibilities and less stress. This can provide a more relaxed environment for your child to undergo testing without the added pressure of keeping up with their regular schoolwork.
2. Increased Availability: School psychologists often have more availability during the summer as they are not as occupied with their regular duties during the school year. This means you may have an easier time scheduling appointments and getting the necessary testing done in a timely manner.
3. Preparation for the Upcoming School Year: If your child is experiencing challenges or difficulties in school, undergoing testing during the summer can help provide valuable insights and information. The results of the testing can inform educational planning and interventions, allowing the school to better support your child when the new school year begins.
4. Continuity of Services: If your child is already receiving support from a school psychologist or other related services, conducting testing during the summer can help maintain continuity in their care. It ensures that their progress is monitored, and any necessary adjustments to interventions or accommodations can be made before the new school year starts.
5. Evaluation of New Concerns: If you or your child’s teachers have noticed any recent changes or concerns in their behavior, emotions, or academic performance, summer testing can help identify the underlying causes. Addressing these concerns early on can enable appropriate interventions or referrals to support your child’s overall development.

Inspirar Más (Inspire More)
When we want to prevent a problem, we usually focus on what we DO NOT have to do or what we have to reduce or eliminate. We focus on what we have to be or do less, but very little we focus on what we have to be or do MORE.
To prevent violence, for example, we think that we have to be less aggressive, selfish and intolerant, or we must have less hatred, less resentment, less envy, etc. While it is true that we have to have/be/do less of all that, we also have to be and do more of the good. We have to be MORE understanding, kind, compassionate, tolerant, generous, empathetic, etc.
If we focus on what we have to be/do MORE we will discover that preventing big problems is much easier than we thought. It’s just a matter of being/doing MORE.
Prevention involves not only reducing the risk factors for any problem but also increasing the protective factors. This project is focused on increasing protective factors and Inspiring MORE values such as kindness, love, respect, understanding, tolerance, compassion, truth, generosity, empathy, and many others.
This project has 3 objectives:
1. Promote a culture of peace and kindness in all settings, especially in schools.
2. Encourage the development of socio-emotional skills in all people, especially in children and adolescents.
3. Inspire good educational practices that promote respect, equity, and inclusion.
I hope not only to share my knowledge but also to connect and learn from others who are interested in this topic so that I can Do More, Achieve More, and Inspire More.

Reflection of the Past – Turtle – “This card represents the peacemaker, diplomat, and ally. In comparison to the heron card, which symbolizes inner peace, this card encourages peace and friendship with others. The sea turtle is the natural gardener, grazing on seagrass which house aquatic life, feeds other sea creatures, and allows space for underwater animals to breed, nest, and hide. This card…

I love Prof AU’s making Viktor that prof that you hope doesnt make it to class every morning but I feel like he’s not that guy. Yes, he’s not completely chillaxed like I bet Jayce is, but he’s also hyperaware of making sure his students pass so they can make it in Piltover, especially Zaunite kids.
Not hard-ass teacher and not softie like Jayce but still showing that life is hard and you have to be 10x better than Piltovians to make it here. Like office hours are super accessible, has a psychology minor so he can re-explain in an accessible way to different brain types. High passing rate but he doesnt like when people dont try 1000%.
I lowkey think that between the both of them, Jayce is the one that has a hard time simplifying his explanations? Like he’ll make jumps that seemingly have no connection because he forgets to explain how he got there (ADHD thing)
#fanfiction#ao3#arcane#viktor arcane#jayce talis#jayce arcane#jayvik#man my hobby is projecting minority struggles onto viktor#leave me alone im a teacher#i cant help it#professor au#this is me bonding with my neurodivergent and POC teachers in school oopsie#jayvik ND headcanon#*sigh* autistic viktor and ADHD Jayce#funniest thing though is Viktor is my kinda autistic where literally everyone has diagnosed me but a psychologist#its common knowledge that I am but he gives me undoagnosed but aware vibes

Jazz wasn't crazy. People might argue that burning her childhood home to the ground with her parents still inside would be an indicator of insanity. But how else was she supposed to react after coming back home from college to find out her parents had brutally killed her brother via vivisection?
Dying her hair blonde wasn't crazy either before anyone asked. Plenty of girls dyed their hair when they needed a change. Besides, she could never live with herself if she kept the same hair color as that vile woman.
Admittedly Jazz would have to secede moving to Gotham had been a little crazy but it was the perfect place to start fresh and blend in despite her "quirks". She had even picked out a nice new identity for herself.
Clearly Jazz was not crazy as she had managed to land a job at Arkham Asylum as a psychiatrist. If she were really insane would they have ever hired her? No they wouldn't have.
Jazz was not crazy. She was very much sane. Just like her precious Mr. J.

and like my parents or etc. are always like "omg why you do/wear X thats for men" why does it matter.... i just want to.
"omg you know its not socially accepted for a woman youll be seen as a freak" YEAH CLEARLY I FUCKING KNOW THIS ALREADY.
they treat me like im a stupid ass kid who is completely socially unaware like i dont understand the implications of my own actions and the way i present myself. i KNOW im a weird freak, man. I am a grown ass adult, i think i can make decisions for myself about how to dress and present myself.
#also its funny how my mother is a psychologist and then berates me and yells at me whenever i do anything autistic#like bro why did you even get a psych degree if you're just going to treat me like the average ignorant ass parent..............#i would think that someone go went through schooling for psychology TWICE IN TWO DIFFERENT LANGUAGES ALL THE WAY TO DOCTOR LEVEL would know#how to handle an autistic/adhd kid (now an adult but well.)#ONE WOULD THINK.#oh she did work with autistic kids all the time btw lol#but whenever i displayed any symptom or trait it was always attributed to personal failings#ik she is not even like that to her patients#she is much more understanding to them#its literally only with ME that she loves to assume the absolute worst and ascribe bad intentions to everything i do

realtalk about casting: annabeth mattered SO. MUCH. to me as a kid, and that was when I only identified with her as another bright, fiesty, amibitious girl with ADHD (something that manifests differently for us with our gender and how we present in things like our interests, school, etc). and to see her now as an actual adult in architecture school (still with ADHD in an ableist af industry) and realizing that the discrimination she'd face as a woc resembles mine so much more now... that's so powerful and it's such a gift, and I hope kids like me are watching too
#percy jackson#percy jackson live action#pjo#annabeth chase#leah sava jeffries#im also so incredibly proud of leah like I have Officially adopted her#but yeah annabeth is how I ended up in arch school#shes also why im gay tbh#she & I rlly out here falling in love with blondes white ppl we met when we were 12 years old#I want to talk about annabeth and adhd soon bc when I tell you she got me through the gifted program oh man I mean it#my psychologist was like. you literally accommodated yourself by going to design school. arch just happens to work the same way as ur brain#and thats on gad+mdd+adhd+bipolar brainsoup

love the idea of spider sense / powers being messed up cause of psychological factors
im pretty sure peter parker "lost" his abilities cause of a mental block before but im also thinking about that panic attack miles had in the halloween short and how his spider sense went off when it was really just in his head. like there's a distinct link between anxiety and fight or flight and survival and i thought that wld be cool to explore
psychosomatic experiences so interesting to me and i just need a spider person to feel like they're going crazy maybe just a little bit
#vee chats#spiderverse#atsv#peter parker#miles morales#i did 3y of psychology in school and now i think im a psychologist im just yapping fr

with all the posts going around about senshi teaching people how to cook better its kinda further proof to me that adults need their own version of like. mr rogers barney blues clues. those educational shows. to guide them and teach them stuff.
#and theres a reason why those shows are the way they are#originally educational childrens shows were made for kids who didnt have enough money for school so that they could still learn#and there were child psychologists the creators referred to in order to know how to best teach the kids and keep their attention#it doesnt surprise me that adults could find something like that useful too#dungeon meshi#senshi of izganda#kinda. idk

The Drop...
The crash… The drop… The shut off…shut down…burn out… No more…. Stop… When your brain finally hits the kill switch and tells you… You’re done… Those who have gone through this call it by various names depending on how they feel, or the research they have done, or what their community calls it, or just how they identify with it the most. Many groups experience this. Individuals can…

In addition to it being useful, disabled people also have a moral obligation to learn certain social and communications skills. Test statements, backhanded compliments, reading a room, knowing what is appropriate to say in front of children vs coworkers vs friends. Anything related to sexual harassment is high priority: where and how intensely you are staring, conversation appropriateness, appropriate places to touch people at different levels of familiarity (as a rule:ask if unsure).
It is extremely frustrating watching disabled people on this website call anything and everything ableism when, even by their own account, they behaved in a way that is inappropriate and discourteous. Humility is the first step towards self-improvement.
I'm disabled, I've worked with disabled people and I read the news.
i dunno if i’m comfortable calling it a moral obligation exactly (gotta sit with that one for a while to figure out why that wording specifically is giving me pause), but i agree with the spirit of what you’re saying, anon. like… my having adhd and a probable mathematical and spatial reasoning disability* doesn’t mean that i’m just off the hook from ever having to reason spatially or do math. wouldn’t it be great if i never had to do those things!! alas, we live in a society, etc.
[editing this to add: i should hope it is clear from my tone that everything here is relative; there are no universals when it comes to disabilities because all of our disabilities are different, and manifest differently. and sometimes they are going to come into conflict with each other in a way that has no easy resolution, does not result in anyone feeling seen or heard or adequately helped, and no one is the bad guy. i wish i had something more helpful to say on this subject, but my perspective is influenced by my own experiences trying and failing to get the help i've needed. ok, back to the rest of the post.]
the skillsets i’ve have to develop to deal with these challenges are different from what my abled pals have had to develop, because dealing with numbers doesn’t cause them the same problems that it does for me. but at the end of the day, i need to be able to navigate enough to get to where i need to go; i need to be able to file my taxes every year; i need to be able to remember complex chains of numbers; i need to be able to do basic arithmetic for my job. i need to be able to follow instructions and take the correct dosage of my medications. and likewise, if i am in a position where i need to provide help to someone else (either as part of my job or in an emergency), i have to be able to do these things, or i risk letting someone else down.
tl;dr being disabled means that doing all of these things is that much more challenging for us because of how our brains work. but we still have to do them, no matter how unfair it is that it is harder for us than it is for our able-bodied friends, because no one else is going to put our needs first but ourselves.
#* i say a probable diagnosis because that is what my psychologist said during my assessment for something else#and advised that i seek out formal diagnosis for it#only if it looks like i am going back to school or something (hah. no thanks a masters was enough)#other than that it might not be worth the money and could risk stigmatization so. you know. i’m cautious about it#when discussing things with my doctor#asks answered

I write a sort of hybrid third/first person POV. Some people aren't a fan of that, and I get why. But I enjoy it. I like the sort of dissociation of it, the intimate detachment. And since I have multiple POVs in a story, I enjoy having a seemingly "objective" narrative structure change depending on who has the reigns.
In Songbird Elegies, for instance, two characters can have a drastically varied awareness of people around them. Scott Skylark Kafuner, the literal empath with a degree in behavioral sciences who went years unable to see human faces and is absolutely making up for lost time, will pick up on a micro-expression anyone else might completely ignore.
Compare this to his sister Tenzin. Tenzin is incredibly intelligent, strong, quick-witted and resourceful. She is also the kind of person who, if you don't directly say what you're feeling out loud, will just have no goddamned clue what your vibe is. No idea. Are you sleepy? Is that what's happening?
#writeblr#on writing#songbird elegiess#if scott went back to school for like two more years he could easily become a psychologist#i don't think he realizes he has an actual college degree#because it was online#i also know he wouldn't want to#he never wanted to#meanwhile tenzin just didn't go to school#although i'm debating her taking acting classes and eventually joining a theater company#i don't know why
