Honestly I don't have much of an explanation outside of I like the irony of a Blind Watcher. And. Well. Grian is right there for things to go awry like that. So,

This was created for the 2024 Reverse Big Bang hosted by @mcytblraufest !! Us artists had to create artwork for the writers to claim this time around! >:)

and speaking of writers.. my art garnered the attention of not one, but two writers, who both created fanfics based off of my art!! It's been such a cool experience seeing how differently they've both taken things and they're both VERY WELL DONE!!!!!!!!

Parts make up a whole, but Mumbo hasn't been a part of anything for a very long time. He was okay with that though. The world was more than welcome to continue outside his window, as long as he had his oven and his cable tv all to himself. But every once in a while, the outside world comes inside, and he has to chase it back out with a broomstick. This time, his technique backfires in a way he never could have imagined. Or... Mumbo could count the number of his friends without even raising a hand. Who knew that a 30,000 year-old creature stealing his bed comforter could change that?

Six months ago, Mumbo’s closest friend vanished without a trace, leaving nothing but unanswered questions. 6 months later, a strange creature appears in his bedroom, with no inkling of how or why. With no clue how this creature got there or what it wants, Mumbo is thrown into a whirlwind of confusion as he tries to figure out what is going on. Now, Mumbo has to continue trying to figure out where Grian went, all while learning what this creature even is, and how to help him without harming him in the process. To make matters worse, the only person who can help him unravel this mystery is the one person Mumbo swore he would never work with: Scar.

Absentmindedly, Mumbo almost brushes right past Grian as he exits the lecture hall. He has to double take, in fact, when he hears the familiar sound of his partner’s laughter, and doubles back instantly to find him sitting casually by the entrance, seated comfortably on an ornamental stone ledge by the doors. 

“You almost missed me!” Grian giggles, hopping down from the ledge. “How in the world did you almost miss me, Mumbo?”

“Where did you come from?” Mumbo asks with a little laugh. 

“I was waiting for you,” Grian says simply. “I brought you tea, how’d the exam go?” He hands a paper cup to Mumbo, who, for a moment, just stands there dumbfounded before accepting it. 

“The exam was… rough,” Mumbo says with a numb laugh.

“I can tell. You seem out of it.” Grian finally joins Mumbo at his side and loops one arm through his. “It’s over now though, and we’re one day closer to break.” 

“It’s over now,” Mumbo agrees. “Thanks for this, by the way,” he adds, nodding to the cup in his other hand.

“Don’t mention it, I had a feeling you’d need a pick-me-up after that exam. With how much studying you’ve been up to this week, I mean.” 

Mumbo hums in agreement. “You never wait for me out here,” he then points out, “it was a nice surprise but don’t you have class?” 

“Architecture was canceled today,” Grian says. “Besides, I missed you!” 

“You missed me?” Mumbo asks, turning to him with a curious little smile. “It’s been two hours, Grian.” 

“Two hours too long. You’re done for the day, right?”

“Thankfully, yeah.” 

“Great, then we’re having dinner together.” 

“Aren’t you going to ask me if I have any plans?” Mumbo teases. 

“No need, I already know you do. You’re having dinner with me.” 

Mumbo shakes his head and smiles. “You’re lucky I’m not a busy man.” 

“You’re lucky you have me to get you out of the dorm every now and again.” 

“Point taken.” 

Grian giggles, pausing to kiss his cheek. “Dinner?” he offers.

“Dinner,” Mumbo agrees.

yikes, how is it near the end of november already? i still havent made much progress with the next LIFE Team introduction since i've been busy and mostly distracted. only the vigilantes have civilian names for now... idk yet if I'll give the heroes one or not since I don't think it's gonna be important to the actual story

the redacted parts are actual info I plan to reveal in the story, but I think you can guess some of it already

also, i haven't fleshed out most of the characters yet, that's why most have fewer information

I tried to balance out each power so no one is too overpowered

I had a hard time differentiating and explaining Ren and Martyn's powers, so if you're still confused, feel free to ask

I might come back and add onto this if I think of more
