Not a day will go by (9/?)
Hello my patient friends! Sorry for the wait! It won't be this long again (for real this time)! This is a Christmas fic for last year's Secret Santa, and I've given myself a deadline to finish it before this year's secret Santa. Specifically, I'm trying to finish before December 18, which is mine and @cosette141's birthday! Thanks so much to everyone who's still reading and leaving comments--they keep me going when my brain refuses to write! Thanks especially to @MotherKat for being the best beta EVER! I'm going all out in November, and I've actually already got Chapter 10 written!! So it won't be too long!
Tagging: @resident-of-storybrooke, @everything-person, @teamhook

Summary: He may not remember his present, but she doesn't know his past. If she did, she wouldn't have married him… right?

Not a day will go by (10/?)
Tumblr media
OK, confession: I've had this one mostly-finished for a couple weeks. Nervous about it! Finally earning the M-rating, although it definitely goes nowhere near E. Not a thing I've done before, so your patience is appreciated! I'm really hoping I can finish the fic this month! Wish me luck! Thanks as always to @motherkatereloyshipper for her EXCEPTIONAL beta-ing, and for this BEAUTIFUL cover I just edited in! If you find any errors, they were probably my last-minute pre-post edits!
Tagging: @resident-of-storybrooke @everything-person, @teamhook

APRIL FOOL'S.
Get it? The joke is, you thought you were definitely not getting an update of this fic today, but actually YOU DID. The first of 2022 (yikes)!
But seriously, so sorry it took me this long! ADHD is apparently the boss of me much more than I would like. But I'm hoping to get back on--not nearly an every-day posting schedule, but definitely better than every-four-months.
Thanks a bazillion to @motherkatereloyshipper for coincidentally being awake at a million o'clock her time and willing to beta so I could post this on April Fool's!
Tagging: @resident-of-storybrooke   @everything-person @teamhook
AO3 Ch 1 Ch 2 Ch 3 Ch 4 Ch 5 Ch 6 Ch 7
Summary: Captain Hook wakes up in a strange bed, next to a woman he does not remember. He finds nothing particularly unusual about this situation. But the woman seems to know him very well.
In Storybrooke, there’s only one surefire way to get back a lost memory. And it’s not going to work until he loves her.

My beautiful complete set, + a bonus first edition I got from a Secret Santa and the Spanish edition I’m working through! Somewhere I have the Vince Natale edition of The Thief, but I lent it to a student. I’d... better get that back before graduation, huh?
I think I might already have a somewhat more matched set in my classroom, at least part of it. I don’t mind whether I win or not, I just really wanted to share my beauties!

My #1 post of 2022
My fellow Friends of Jonathan on the Discord were talking about who they picture when imagine Quincey P. Morris. There were many excellent answers, like Owen Wilson, Woody Harrelson, and Daniel Craig doing his Benoit Blanc accent.
I apologize profusely but my answer is Doug Dimmadome, owner of the Dimmsdale Dimmadome. .

Coming from TikTok?
I'm going to make a companion video going over Tumblr. But once upon a time, I actually had to do a video seminar about Tumblr's viability as a blogging platform. So even though I'm basically a nobody on this platform - I can talk about the differences between platforms.
What is Tumblr?
Tumblr is a blogging social network. Think of a Twitter feed, only instead of videos, photos and short tweets - you have blog posts in addition to all of that. So you can get a wide variety of content. From artwork, fanfic, humor to discussions of serious social issues.
It's whatever you make it.
How do you use it?
Tumblr can be pretty much whatever you want. Some people post random stuff, some people are focused on one topic, some people are dedicated to aesthetics. You have a main blog, but you can create any number of sideblogs.
You have a dashboard which shows all the blogs that you follow, there's a search that lets you search tags/content - though it can, depending on what platform you're on, block more adult content.
Why does everyone say I shouldn't just like posts?
So here's the thing. Tumblr has a bot problem. Specifically bots of the adult entertainment kind. So a lot of seasoned users will see a completely blank blog with zero design changes and a default userpic and assume they're a bot and block them.
I recommend making a short bio, changing the colors of your blog, making a pfp (cartoons, nature, picrewme - all of those are great. Real faces that aren't from pop culture are pretty rare). And if you don't feel like reblogging stuff yet, just make a short "I'm a real person" post.
Also: if you reblog posts, you can tag them and search that. There's no way to search likes. So it could take you forever to find something.
Like or reblog?
Most people suggest reblogging content rather than just liking it. It helps push it to a wider audience, especially for artists.
Neat features about reblogging - you can actually queue posts. That throws it into a post-later queue. In your settings, you can change how often that queue posts. A lot of people will throw things in there to avoid spamming followers. It also makes it look like you're always on, too. (Bonus if you ever talk about your real life)
Scheduling - you can schedule posts! Find something you think would be great for a holiday? You can schedule the date and time.
Reblog, never repost. Think about how even if you repost a video on TikTok, it has the watermark of that original user? Reblogging keeps their username on it - and makes sure they get credit.
There are a lot of creators over here, and people don't like seeing other people get ripped off. So reblog.
Turn off your submissions
A little known feature are submissions - where people can send you things to post. If you want to keep it on, turn it off for video or pictures. (I got several dick pics)
Tag things!
Tumblr uses a pretty great tag system. People use them to organize and to help people block content. You can mute tags, so say you don't want to see Current Popular Show spoilers, if you mute the show name and spoilers that should usually catch it - that's the way most people tag it.
ALSO - because people will mute keywords or tags, do not censor things. It'll make it so their tags won't work. So most people will tag appropriately ex: "eating disorders" and at the top of their post say TW: eating disorders (or use appropriate acronyms up there)
Handy things
If you use a computer, xkit is a browser plugin that lets you add extra features. It's community made, but there are extensions like "postblock" or quick tags or auto tagger, one-click postage.
Ads
Because of the wide variety of content, the ads on Tumblr are pretty weird. Entertaining, but weird.
Monetization
There is no creator fund type thing. Sorry. You can't even really put ads on your Tumblr blog. (If you can setup an ads.txt file, cool - but it doesn't always register the way it should)
Most Tumblrites who want to monetize will put up a link to Ko-fi or a link to their Patreon.
Hope this helps!

Expanding your reach
There’s been a lot of talk in writeblr recently (and for a while now) about the importance of interacting with other people’s posts beyond just dropping a like and keep scrolling, and while that is important for helping creators grow their reach, there are actually a few things you can do yourself that can also help.
*note: this is in no way meant to replace the conversation about interacting with others, nor is it meant to blame creators for not having reach because that sentiment is toxic and unproductive. Rather, it’s tips creators can choose to impliment or not in addition to the ask that people do more to interact.
Anyyywaayyy...
1) Tag your shit
Tumblr’s search algorithm works pretty much exclusively on tags (it’ll sometimes put things on your dash based on people you follow, but don’t rely on that). Basically, the more tags you put, the easier it is for people to stumble across.
The first five tags on your post will be the ones that will make your post show up in tags people follow (for example, if someone follows #writing advice and that tag is in your first five, it will show up in that person’s tracked tags). A general rule of thumb is to put popular tags in your first five. For writing, those might be (#writing, #writeblr, #spilled ink, #writing humor, #writing advice, etc). Which tags you choose will depend on the content of your post.
The first twenty tags (including the first five described above) will show up when you put something into the search bar. When it comes to these, do not hold back. The more tags you put, the more likely it is for someone to see it. Key think: make sure tags are relevant to your post. If you tag a post that’s an advice post about worldbuilding and tag it #writing memes, you’re not going to gain a lot of traction based off the tag because people will search that looking for -- you guessed it -- Writing memes!
All tags on your post will show up in the blog navigation search bar, so if you have specific tags for say, original posts or something, the place to put that is often after your original twenty tags if you have a lot.
Another important thing: tags on reblogs don’t show up EXCEPT within a specific person’s blog! This is to keep popular duplicates from showing up in the main search engine but it also means that if you don’t have any tags on your post, the only way it’s going to get passed around is through reblogs and we’ve all heard how that’s going.
(more tips below the break)
2) Reblog your own stuff
This is one that helped me a lot when I was getting started, though now I don’t do it as often. BUT it is seriously 100% okay to reblog your own stuff. Like with tagging, it helps with visibility, as it pulls it to the top of your dash, and it slaps it on all of your follower’s dashboards.
Similarly, if there’s a post you’re especially proud of, don’t be afraid to pin it (click on the three little dots in the top corner to get a dropdown with the option to pin your post). This won’t necessarily make it easier to stumble across, but it will be the first thing visitors to your blog will see.
3) Be consistant (depending on what style blog you run and its purpose, this one can be optional)
This is more aimed at increasing follower count than reblog count, but more followers usually means increased chance of reblogs, at least in some capacity.
People are frequently drawn to blogs because they are drawn to the content. People also frequently don’t reblog things they don’t like. Basically consistancy will help with visibility because people are more likely to engage in content they signed up for.
Personally, I have also found that having a regular posting schedule/clear hiaitus posts to be helpful as well so that people don’t assume you’re a dead blog. Your posting schedule, should you choose to impliment it, can be whatever you want (schedule post/queue makes it fairly easy to post on time), though I would recommend putting the schedule in your bio or somewhere where people can see that you have a posting schedule. With hiaitus, what I do that works for me is make a post saying I’m going on hiaitus for at least X time and that I will update on X date. I also put in the tags what date I posted it. This can help assure your audience that you’re not a dead blog, while still being able to take time away for yourself because PLEASE TAKE CARE OF YOUR MENTAL HEALTH!
4) Interact with others and be a part of the community
Two reasons for this: a) you can’t expect others to interact with you if you don’t interact with them. b) the more you interact, the more likely it is for them to see you and possibly check out your blog.
Some ways to interact:
Comment
Reblog
Take part in tag games (no one’s going to get mad if you jump in without actually being tagged - go for it!)
Send people asks and take part in ask games
Ask to be put on taglists
If you’re posting content that involves taglists, let people know that they can join if they want - (they’ll get regular updates when you post, so they’re more likely to see your stuff)
5) Make your blog a nice place to be
I’m not talking about the aesthetic so much (though do what you think looks good), as I am talking about how you conduct yourself when you’re on your blog.
Some good things to do are:
Being friendly and respectful
Giving people the benifit of the doubt
Avoiding snarky responses or answers (sarcasm is okay, as long is it’s clear that it’s lighthearted and not intended to be hurtful or mean)
Avoiding posting or spreading offensive, harmful, or dehumanizing content
Avoiding pointless or toxic drama
Basically, once people associate you as not a nice person, or not someone they want to interact with, they won’t interact with you (except sometimes to antagonize), and you are probably never going to win them back. So if you have to take out your frustration, do it away from your blog, and preferably somewhere that isn’t public because a) no one likes that, and b) it will never make you look good.
But say you do mess up - you realize you’ve hurt somebody without meaning to, or you’ve done something that just wasn’t okay. Then what?
Apologize. If you’re realizing what you did on your own, make a post explaining
that you’re sorry for what you did
you understand why it’s hurtful (explain the why)
what your intentions were (if that’s relevant, sometimes it’s not)
that you recognize that your intentions and what happened did not match
if there is something to do to fix what was done beyond apologizing, explain what you will do.
If someone else called you out on it, do the same thing as you did above, and also remember not to get super defensive. If you believe you were not in the wrong, do a bit of research before responding - you may have crossed a line you didn’t know existed. If you do that research and you still believe that they’re wrong, do not attack them, and PLEASE be civil with your response. Otherwise you’re going to get swept up into petty drama with a lot of big feelings involved and that never ends well.
Remember - apologies are not meant to be ways to get attention, and you should not do the whole “wo is me” gig - it undermines the whole point. Instead, it’s about recognising that you messed up, and doing what you can to make repairs.
6) Celebrate your wins
Maybe one of your posts did really well, or you get to a certain follower count - don’t be afraid to celebrate!
This can be something like a post saying “I just reached x-milestone, I’m so excited!”
Or you can do something special. For example, when I got to a follower milestone, I did a bonus post every day for the week.
Remember that it’s not about “we have to get to x-milestone in order to do the thing,” but it’s “hey we did the think that’s awesome!”
I know this post got long, so I appreciate that you’ve stuck with me this far - I hope you have a wonderful day :)

You really didn’t want to go on a mission with Heero Yuy. In your opinion, he was a robot, an iceberg, and as cold as the North Pole. And you really hated the fact that people started spreading rumors about you. Now, you have two weeks to get to know him better, get comfortable with the idea of playing his wife, and keep from getting into a catfight with Wufei’s secretary (who has quite a crush on Mister Yuy herself). You thought you would be able to handle the mission, but a couple of alcohol influenced kisses really send your world spinning. And it would only get worse during the mission… And really… your careless actions do have very big consequences.

Buckle up, chucklefucks: it’s Sev, and I’m accidentally broke until April, so I’m offering fanfic commissions (and taking donations!) until I’m back on my feet.
Accepting: now until 01 April 2019

I’m not offering this because I think fanfiction should be paid for - when I’m in a good position, I’m happy to write prompts for free! - I’m asking because I’m in a cash downswing, and really hoping people like my stuff enough to help me out a bit. I’m not asking for straight donations — I’m offering something in exchange. If you can’t help, share the link or reblog, please! I love you all.
to request: reply to this post or DM me, and i'll contact you to work out details. Again, even a reblog is so helpful!

600 notes! Goddamn. I'm glad y'all found this so helpful!
It's been over a week since things picked up and I've been watching y'all like a wildlife researcher and I've got a few bonus tips from that:
Use spaces in your tags! Its Allowed! It also will help separate your posts from accounts that are just mass stealing from twitter and instagram since they usually default to the tags they used over there.
ALSO make sure when you repost commissions you make sure that you put in the description that you have permission to do that! (And double check with your artist if it's okay!) If you look like an account that steals art you could get blocked!
Sidenote: if you see cool art that has just a credit link in the description, click through to it! A lot of the time the og artist DID crosspost to tumblr! It's discouraging when twitter users grab your art and then repost it to get 10x the interactions, it sucks just as much here.
A good way to set up your queue is to go through tags you like or are relevant to your vtuber, queue a bunch, find posts from mutuals, queue a bunch of those too, make a ton of original posts in the queue, then hit shuffle! It'll help give your blog an even spread of things and make your content last longer.
Also if you're one of those vtubers with a "Schedule" (never met her) then you can schedule going live posts! With the embeds and everything! Amazing.
On information posts (like this one) check the notes! More info could show up in the replies or reblogs with comments.
If you want your pinned post to "last longer" add a read more! Edits don't show up in reblogs! BUT whenever someone clicks the read more it takes them back to your OG post, so everything thats been edited will show up. Also mobile users won't cry everytime your lengthy intro post shows up. Think of their poor fingers.
Readjust your internal metrics for if a post "succeeds." Vtubers are technically OCs, your posts will likely never blow up the way fandom ones do. If you get over 10 notes That's A Lot! Good job!! But also don't get stressed if you don't hit that, play with posting times, shuffle your tags, use your queue, and try splitting up photo sets! You can do it!
Finally I saw this asked around: when it comes to a posts search ranking in the "top" or "all-time" sections of a tag, it's hard to tell if replies and likes count, so when in doubt, reblog things you think people should see!
Hope these are also helpful! And I hope you guys have been having fun around here!
Tips For Vtubers
Howdy there, I’m Liv and I’m a vtuber much like you, but I’ve been here the whole time so I’m here to compile stuff for you to help make your transition less scary.
To start, here’s is a post with a lot of tips for general tumblr use and here’s one for giving your blog a custom theme.
Beyond that here’s other things that aren’t mentioned but are gonna be relevant for you:
If you’re coming back to tumblr know that you can’t follow from your sideblog, if you want to follow back it will be from your main, as will your likes, replies, asks. Decide what to do with this information now before you settle into a blog.
Fully explore the settings, there's a ton of stuff hiding in there. AND do it on PC at least once, some stuff is not in the app.
Blogs have individual block lists, no idk why either. So if you want someone banned from everything you need to do that manually.
Also enable tumblr Labs! It’s got reblog graphs which are rad (my beloved orbs) And alternate dashboards, the Blog Subscriptions one is my fave because it means all you have to do is turn on notifications to get all your fave guys in one dashboard.
Contrary to popular belief there is still a porn and adult content community here, if you want to get anywhere near them you have to have age in bio or they’ll smite you. EDIT: I posted more about how to navigate lewdposting here.
Tiktok embeds don't play nice with tumblr for some reason, if you also do tiktok then just reupload your videos and link your account there underneath.
The link post type will show up for your followers but there’s a chance it won’t show up in any tags, so don’t do going live posts like that.
BUT you can straight up embed your stream into your posts! As long as you're using the New Post Editor you should see this menu:
Tumblr media
Click the video camera, link to your twitch and bam. There it is. You can also do this with the video post type! If you're ever worried about your post format getting bonked just go through the tags and see what posts that DO make it are doing. Together we can overcome spaghetti code.
General "tumblr culture" is to not comment on posts but its not one thats set in stone, your fellow small vtuber account is probably dying for interaction so comment on posts! scream in the tags! send funny asks! Getting interaction right now is going to be a big comfort during a weird time.
Oh yeah we have ask boxes built in, no marshmallow needed.
ALSO we have pinned posts just like twitter, but as long as you want! Put your ref & socials & art tag (yes you can keep your fanart tags) & your minors DNI & a picture of your cat if you want.
OH I do suggest picking out tags for your personal content if you plan to also do reblogging, makes it easy for newcomers to find what you're doing.
#vtuber and #indie vtuber are full of fanart for the big guys. If you wanna find each other use #vtuber uprising
Okay this post is getting so long but final tip: check out custom pages. They're on the custom theme menu and they're basically mini webpages on your blog that can have their own coding. You can do Literally Whatever. Lore! Credit page! Ref sheets! I once put a choose your own adventure where you navigated by clicking specific parts of a picture on tumblr pages. I Mean Anything.
That's all for now, please add other tips if you want. And please reblog! Not just this post but other peoples too! This will all be way less of a drag if we can find each other. 💖
EDIT: One more thing, lolisho shit Does Not Fly here. They are some of the only tags that tumblr has actually shadowbanned and there is a reporting criteria for it to get taken down. It also doesn't fly on my blog! Begone!!

PSA
I know it’s April Fools but this ain’t a joke! Starting now this blog is going somewhat on hiatus... Like always, I have my queue running but with only 5 posts a day since my means to refill it are limited and I don’t want it to run out too soon.
The reason for this? I’m starting an apprenticeship! It’s at a bookstore in my university’s city, so I have to commute 4-5h a day on top of the 8h of work. So yeah, not much time to browse tumblr.
I’m doing my best to stay caught up on the Arrowverse, Shadowhunters and Gotham (because it only has two more episodes) - I probably won’t be able to watch it the same day but I should be able to watch on the weekend. You can tag me in things or send them my way; I will check my DMs definitely! Bonus points if the post is about Barry Allen, Simon Lewis or Scott McCall.
As to update schedules: as I mentioned already, the groupchat AU’s second part “in the middle of the night, in my dreams” will be updated on Sundays from now on. “free fallin’ in the jungle lights” should hopefully continue as it was.
Like I said, you can always shoot me an ask/DM on here, but I’m also reachable via twitter or instagram!

Winter Wishes 2018
What is Winter Wishes?
For those of you just joining us, every season brings a different Event to the table, and so for this event, rather than choosing from a list of prompts, we like to ask everyone who’d like to participate to send in a prompt – and then in return, fill one. It’s our very own Secret Santa.
We also have the bonus option of Stocking Stuffers, in which if – after youfinish your Winter Wish, you can pick another prompt off the list and give another gift.
If you’d like to participate, please read everything in this post, as it will spell out all the specifics.
Timeline
Important! Set alarms on your phone if needed, but don’t miss these dates. Last call for all dates is 23:59 UTC-12 on the date in question – we’re on a tight schedule.
24th – 30th November – Sign Ups: Part I 1st – 7th December – Sign Ups: Part II 8th – 20th December – 12 Days of Writing 23rd/24th December – Unwrapping
Sign Ups – Part I:  Wishes Can be Submitted
Send us an Ask*, containing the following information:
Wish:
Likes:
Dislikes/Triggers:
Bonus for:
Porn/No Porn:
If you need two (or three) Asks to get all your info in, then break it down, but use a notation at the top. Ex “Username: ½, Username: 2/2″
*Anonymous function will be switched off from now until December 26th, so if you’re not on tumblr, we recommend setting up a skeleton account. You don’t need to use it like we tumbling tumblr-users do, but you’ll need one for this event.
Sign Ups – Part II:  Prompts can be Picked!
You can now start to request prompts from the Wish List. We’ll mark them as we go along, but we’ll still have to confirm your claim. If it’s been claimed –  somebody might have snagged it seconds before, or we might be out and about and unable to edit the Wish List – then pick another. :)
Prompts can still be submitted until the 7th December, when all prompts are closed.
Wordcount
Minimum: 500 words Recommended: 1 – 5k words
Note: If you want to go over 5k words, that’s fine; so long as you meet the deadline. It’s better to be finished in time for Unwrapping than to write a longer fic.
You can start writing as soon as you’ve been confirmed for your prompt if you like. We’ll start poking people on the 6th to make sure you’re awake/alive, and make sure everybody has a prompt to write. :)
12 Days of Writing
You’ve got twelve days now to fill your prompt and submit it to Sumigakure. See below for precise instructions on how we want this done.
Also, be prepared, because our christmas song: 12 Days of Sumi Nin will be making the rounds. Maybe we’ll keep the lyrics, maybe they’ll be different.
All fills need to be submitted by 20th December, so we can get all the presents ready for Unwrapping.
Submitting
When submitting your completed pieces:
Select the Tags: “Sumigakure Winter Wishes 2018”, with the additional “Sumigakure Stocking Stuffers 2018”  for bonus gifts.
Then use the following layout:
To: [Tag the user in question]
From: [Tag yourself / Your username here.]
[Insert Linebreak here]
Title: [Or Untitled, if so]
Rating: [General, Teen, Mature, Explicit or Not Rated]
Wordcount: [For your Mission ranking]
Prompt: [What part of their Wish did you use for your prompt?]
Warning/Notes: Use this function if you feel the need to place any warnings.
Summary: [Insert Summary if wanted]
[Insert a Read More Break]
[Insert ficlet here]
READ ME: This is an Event where you Submit your piece to us. Do not post this to your blog*. Do not post this to your Writing Pages until after it’s been released**.
*You can reblog it to your page once it’s aired.
**If you wish to include a link to your writing platform, then include a link to your overall profile in the Notes.
Unwrapping
The Admin will queue all submissions to post on Sumigakure over December 24th (and possibly the 23rd if we have more than 50 participants) for unwrapping.
Stocking Stuffers!
If you finish your designated Wish early, then why not cycle back around to the Wish List and see if you can fill in a few more as bonus gifts. :)
Achievements to Unlock!
Perfect Present 2018
For participating in Winter Wishes 2018, and leaving their chosen prompter a present under the Sumigakure tree.
Stocking Stuffer 2018
For writing a bonus gift for somebody else after completing the required Wish.
Have fun, and may your wishes come true this winter!

Sakura Blossom Month!
I keep seeing these individual appreciation months for different fandoms. This month is brought you by one dedicated Blossom. I present to you a month of Cardcaptor Sakura Appreciation. This was supposed to be in April but i missed the deadline to do it ! I realized that most of the fandom months most people weren’t really following it to the end. In this one its a pick and choose thing.
Special Days
June 2: Clothing Day
June 5 : Minor Character Day / Free be
June 6: Ladies Day
June 11: Lover’s Day June 15: Tsubasa Day June 18: Card Day  June 20:  Clow Cards Cards Day
I wanted to include all characters so as a Bonus Day option July 1st or May 31st is Meiling Day!
This starts June 1st. I just posted it early so people can prepare and decide what days they want to participate on etc. This way you can also make sets before and just put them on a scheduled queue!
Things to Remember
- Tsubasa Chronicles Characters welcome for any day  -Please Tag your stuff with “sakura blossom month” in the first five tags, otherwise it won’t show up. - I follow the  “cardcapterstea” tag so it will be fine tag that too! -Please do not repost gifs/artwork without proper credit.
-This Challenge is one where you can chose which character you want to appreciate. I don’t expect anyone to make a post every day. Pick your top five characters or something. Do them all. It’s all up to you!! I’m just doing each day because I want each day to have at least one post in it.
See You Soon!

If there’s been something that I’ve been staunchly vocal about it’s how little I cared about what I charged people for my commission prices. I’ll fully admit that I was that artist that probably rubbed a lot of other people the wrong way because I was severely undercharging myself for the talent I have. I finally caved after a conundrum I had recently where the kind of clientele that have been seeking me out for my work were taking advantage of me being so cheap; my time was being wasted on something that I didn’t even want to do. I know that sounds harsh but that’s utterly how I feel about the whole situation.
It’s not something new for anybody to know I solely draw for me, anything for anybody else is a bonus. I do art for other people because I genuinely like bringing people’s creations and ideas to life but I want to have fun doing it. Drawing is what I do to unwind from my day job and other stressors in life, I do not want it to become another source of stress. Some might consider that a luxury that I can pick and choose what I want to do but I’d also like to remind people that I’m still a person and I’ll be looking out for my own mental well-being before Bob down the street who wants a portrait of his dog and two kids. I’m not a machine, and I ain’t gonna pretend I’m one either.
I’ve had a lot of burnout with commissions lately, I feel like I’m just done with being cheap about my time considering I have little spare time to begin with. I haven’t had a break in a while with what’s in the queue. I look forward to clearing it for a while since I’ll have commissions closed for the remainder of the month at the least and perhaps next month.
It’s rough just not being able to catch a break, there’s been some times where I think I’m finished and then someone waltzes in with several more ideas lined up for me already. Over the course of the past two years I’ve done 40 pieces in between my busy schedule and this doesn’t account for people’s multiple variants or whatnot nor the fact that I had commissions closed for the bulk of 2020 and half of 2021 due to mental health reasons. Saying I’m “tired” is an understatement especially since I won’t rest until I have my work finished, it’s a terrible habit but it’ll play on my mind if I don’t clear it out quickly.
Talking to some of my other artist pals I’ve decided I’ll be changing my prices and I’ll be revamping my TOS a bit too. I’ll be more than doubling the current price scheme for my work, perhaps even more (I haven’t quite finalized my prices). This might mean that I’ll alienate some of my current commissioners but frankly I’m doing this for me and me alone. If someone really wants my skills then they’ll have to pay fairly for said skills. I haven’t been drawing for over 20+ years for someone to come along and spit in my face at me and my craft. There’s been a few folks that have rudely told me it’s “easy” and they’ll just “draw it themselves” - sure, go for it.
Hopefully during the time that commissions are closed I’ll be able to draw up some more nice examples of what people can expect (the photo at the top is a simple sketch I did earlier the week). I’m hoping to make a portfolio of sorts of my work over the course of the year, but that’ll be in between getting some of the stuff drawn up for DIVE and eventually the comic version too. think 2022 is going to be good for me art wise. I’ve got a lot planned including a little something fun for Easter.
The new TOS and prices will be posted probably within the month. I’m excited to see what taking up my pals on their advice is going to wield for me, I think it’ll be dandy. Bottom line is though, don’t sell yourself and your time short especially for your talents. Whatever you bring to the table, don’t do it for free.
Cheers!

THIS IS IMPORTANT!!! Reblog if you want to support content creators!!
This post showed up on my dash and I just needed to say something and add to it because I feel very strongly about this issue. Please REBLOG content that you really like and especially if you want a content creator to keep creating more content! For people who are new to Tumblr, or don’t realize how it works, the visibility of a creator’s post is based on how well the tags work and, most importantly, rely on reblogs!
With tags on Tumblr, only the first 5 tags will show up in tracked tags (i.e. if a person follows the #a3! tag, then if one of your first five tags is #a3! then your post will eventually, probably show up somewhere on that person’s dash). Only the first 20 tags will show up in a Tumblr search. And, even then, Tumblr’s search function isn’t great especially since sometimes posts get shadow banned from showing up in searches. For example, any post with an external link (like to AO3) almost always won’t show up in a search (though links to other Tumblr posts, like a master list post, is okay from what I’ve tried). Or, apparently, just sometimes if you use a particular tag too much some of your content just stops showing up in that tag (at least that’s what I understood of how Tumblr tags work). Stuff tagged as NSFW also has issues showing up in searches. Also, reblogs do not show up in searches, only the original post will. So, if a particular tag is popular and has tons of content, what are the chances of someone seeing your one-drop-of-water-in-the-ocean post?? How far will someone really scroll down the search list? How many people only look at the “Top” results rather than the “Recent” results?
tl;dr It’s hard for a content creator to control the visibility of their own posts. BUT!! If you reblog a post, then you expose the post to all of your followers (some of whom likely don’t follow the OP) and that isn’t dependent on the tag game. Then, if that follower also reblogs, then the post gets spread further! This is the most reliable way to give a post visibility, and it takes one second to do! You don’t even have to tag the reblog or write a comment if you don’t want to (tags on reblogs are just for your own blog organization and internal blog searches). If you don’t want to spam your followers, use the “schedule” or “queue” functions so you can spread out your posts!
It’s hard for me to admit this, and, honestly? I do feel ashamed of myself by saying this, because I don’t want to admit it out loud, but I definitely get discouraged by low note counts as a content creator. I really wish I didn’t, but I do. It’s not that I feel entitled to notes, I understand that not everyone will interested in or like what I put out. But, on bad days, my brain interprets a low note count as “your writing sucks and it’s not good and that’s why no one likes or reblogs it” and thinks “why do I bother posting anything I create anyway, I’m the only one who looks at it, so it may as well just sit on my hard drive”. It makes me wonder why I even bother spending like 5-8 hours of my life writing like 1000 words. On good days, I just tell myself it’s because the Tumblr search engine is garbage, and I feel fine, haha!
I love the interaction that is possible through a platform like Tumblr. I post my writing here because I want to share something I’m passionate about and hope that others get a smile out of it, too! And, if I can find and meet others who share the same interests as me, then that’s another bonus! Seeing a like and a reblog motivates me to keep creating because I know someone else likes what I do and so I keep trying.
I don’t think it’s presumptuous of me to say that I’m sure I’m not the only content creator who has ever felt this way. So, please reblog posts you like to keep encouraging all content creators!!
Hopefully this has convinced some of you to consider reblogging more if you don’t already! Similar to what the previous posts above said, I’m not trying to shame anyone, just trying to help spread some love!! And I don’t claim to be perfect by any means, either. I can’t say that I have a 1:1 like to reblog ratio, but I try my best to reblog everything I like - if there’s just a lot that I like from one content creator I just discovered I’ll choose a few and go back and reblog some more as new stuff comes up. (Sometimes I might not reblog something if it’s NSFW without a cut, just in case minors go through my blog - I don’t want to accidentally surprise anyone). If you see me like something and don’t see the reblog right away, it’s probably just on my queue somewhere.
Sorry for the long rant, but thanks for reading if you stuck through it all! And thanks to everyone who has supported me all this time! I seriously live off every single like and reblog you all send my way! I will keep doing my best, so I hope all other creators will as well!! 💕
-Anmitsu
P.S. If I’ve gotten anything wrong about Tumblr algorithms, please feel free to let me know and I’ll correct it!
My intention isn’t to BOSS people around. But people who don’t create on tumblr really have to understand that if creators stop posting here, you won’t have anything else to like but maybe memes. If you want content to circle around to your dashboard… you have to pay it forward and reblog. That is why this website is dying. The Ban is not the only reason.

#1. Wishpond
Sorry - had to do it! Wishpond’s Instagram Hashtag Contest is one of the best ways to turn the engagement you receive on social media into real customers for your business. Basically, it’s a contest that collects entries using a specific Instagram hashtag into a gallery, where people can view other entries and vote on them. This generates leads, who you can then market to using email, a method that’s been more proven than social media to generate sales.
On top of that, Wishpond makes it simple to create landing pages and other lead generation tools that work perfectly in tandem with a strong Instagram Ads strategy. If you’re going to go the paid route in social media, Wishpond’s one of the best Instagram marketing tools to have in your arsenal.

#2. Later
One of the most important things to have in your Instagram marketing software stack is a scheduling app. Later is one of my favorite Instagram tools, though I’ll admit I’m a little biased because they’re based in the same city that we are, Vancouver. Later allows you to queue up multiple posts (including captions) for your visual content marketing efforts.
Later’s great because it offers a free version, meaning beginner Instagram marketers can still take advantage of this powerful and intuitive platform.

#3. Buffer
Like Later, Buffer is another scheduling tool that will allow you to plan out your Instagram posts days or weeks in advance. An added bonus is that Buffer also supports Twitter and Facebook, meaning you can sync up the visual media you post over multiple accounts.
If you’re looking for Instagram marketing software that will also allow you to automate your social media efforts on other platforms, I wouldn’t hesitate for a second to recommend Buffer. The platform also features analytics that can help you track the performance of each of the photos and videos you post.

#4. Enlight
Enlight is a very fully-featured Instagram marketing tool. It’s got all the typical fixings for image adjustment, but it also has some different tools that make it more useful to artsy Instagrammers. These features include dynamic gradients, extensive typography tools, and photography staples like curve adjustment and healing brushes.
Keep in mind that Enlight is a paid app, so if you’re just starting out and you only need the basics for Instagram, you’re probably better off with one of the other apps on this list.

#5. Afterlight
One of the most popular Instagram tools for both Android and iOS is Afterlight, another Instagram marketing tool that offers a great variety of filters and editing tools for your photos. Though it’s not as powerful as some of the other apps I’ve mentioned, it’s incredibly easy to use, featuring dozens of filters, textures, and frames to make your photos look unique for Instagram.

#6. Snapseed
Snapseed has become my photo editing app of choice as of late. It’s a Google product, which is a huge plus in my book, to begin with. I’ve found Snapseed (which is free, by the way!) to be the most powerful tool in my kit when it comes to making precise edits to the pictures I take.
In addition to the usual goods, Snapseed offers selective editing (allowing you to edit only certain parts of your photos) and curve adjustment. As far as I’m concerned, Snapseed is an essential Instagram marketing tool for any business.

#7. VSCO
I couldn’t create a list of Instagram marketing tools without including VSCO. Arguably the most popular editing app out there, VSCO is a one-stop-shop for up-and-coming Instagram marketers. Unlike some of the other apps on this list, this Instagram tool has it all. It features a wide variety of great editing tools, as well as a number of gorgeous filters that are sure to take your photos from good to great. It also features advanced editing tools that you can unlock with a VSCO Membership or test using a free trial.

#8. Facetune
Facetune is the latest Instagram marketing tool I've discovered. Its primary use is as an app to make adjustments to (go figure) faces, allowing you to make even the most candid of photos picture-perfect. The app has tools like whitening, smoothing, patching, and more. Best of all, it uses a “painting”-style interface, meaning you tap the parts of the photo you’d like to edit.
Though it’s meant as a touch-up app for people, Facetune’s tools are powerful for editing any photos - meaning it can make even simple shots of your product look great for Instagram. It costs a couple of bucks, but it’s a worthy investment for any Instagram marketer and they offer a free trial for you to see if it suits your workflow.

#9. Over
Moving into typography apps, we have Over: a modern and trendy tool that makes it simple to put text on your Instagram photos. It features a variety of tools that allow you to add things like simple text, logos, and quotes to any of your images. The app has a ton of preset styles, which means it’s easy to create a text-based graphic that looks great.
The ability to add text to your photos is a must-have for marketers, whether you’re highlighting your latest social media contest or your seasonal promotion.
Tumblr media

#10. Font Candy
Font Candy is my other typography app of choice. Though Over is, no doubt, stylish, Font Candy is incredibly powerful when it comes to typography options. It has a ton of editing tools, as well as spot editing, which allows you to more precisely fine-tune your text edits to make them perfect.
Font Candy also features an import tool, allowing any marketer to import images (like logos!) and even other font files to use in the app. This means anything you can create great-looking content that’s totally on-brand, even while they’re on the go.

#11. Iconosquare
Iconosquare is an Instagram marketing tool that I recommend to people. It’s a big player in the Instagram analytics industry, giving marketers the power to shape their social marketing strategy and track their progress in a single app.
In terms of growth tools, Iconosquare gives users the ability to monitor their follower growth, see where followers are from, and identify follower influence, which means marketers can better strategize when it comes to who to follow and who to interact with.
On top of that, Iconosquare helps users find their optimal post timing, monitor post engagement rate, and even benchmark social performance against competitors. Packages start at $49/mo but they also offer a free trial for you to give it a go first.

#12. Crowdfire
If you’re looking to dial in your Instagram marketing strategy when it comes to followers, Crowdfire is the way to go. It’s an Instagram marketing tool that analyzes the accounts you follow, the accounts that follow you, and the accounts you probably should be following. It does all of this through an intuitive interface that makes it simple to follow (and unfollow) other accounts.
One of the best ways to drive success through social media is through intelligent interactions, meaning the people you engage with are important. Having a tool that gives you detailed insight into the people you interact with can be a make-or-break strategy.

#13. Like2Buy
Like2Buy is what I call an Instagram “monetization platform”. Let me try to explain. Basically, Like2Buy makes your Instagram feed shoppable by creating a separate webpage featuring a gallery of your Instagram photos. Each of these photos links to a page, meaning you can direct followers to places they can buy your products.
Because Instagram only supports a single link in your entire profile (you can’t post clickable links in the media you post), having a monetization platform like Like2Buy is invaluable. It means you won’t lose any customers who go “huh?” after the link your bio isn’t what they’re expecting.

#14. Have2HaveIt
Have2HaveIt is another Instagram monetization platform. Just like Like2Buy, Have2HaveIt creates a replica of your feed that’s shoppable. It’s definitely one of the best ways to direct the traffic you generate on social media to places where you can make sales, like your website.
What I like most about Have2HaveIt is its interface - it lets you link one photo to multiple destinations, in case you’ve featured multiple products in a single post. On top of that, it has a subscription box that allows you to collect emails for future marketing efforts.

#15. Layout
Layout is Instagram’s proprietary collage tool. Put simply, Layout allows you to stitch together several photos, so you can share different photos of your newest product or your latest company outing. It’s my collage app of choice due to its incredible versatility and ease of use.
Another option you have to achieve a similar purpose is Instagram’s new Carousel feature, which allows you to share several photos and videos together in a single post. Though this makes things easier and gives each of your photos a little more room to breathe, there’s still a time and place for a well-made collage.

#16. Repost
Repost is probably the most popular tool that nobody really thinks about. It’s used by tons of Instagram users to help them share Instagram posts they love. Because Instagram doesn’t natively support re-posting or sharing content, Repost fills a niche with its much-needed Instagram tool.
The tool does the heavy lifting for users, making it simple for them to repost content they love from accounts they follow. For businesses, it’s a particularly effective Instagram marketing tool if you’re looking to share user-generated content from your fans and followers.

#17. Instagram for Business
Though it’s not technically a piece of Instagram marketing software, Instagram for Business is a super useful set of tools that can really give your Instagram marketing a boost. Basically, you “convert” your Instagram account into a business account through the Instagram app.
Instagram for Business gives you a couple of extra perks. The first is the ability to add a location and a “contact” button to your Instagram account. This is particularly awesome if you’ve got a retail location because it helps customers have simpler access to connecting with your business. Next, you have access to analytics, so you can check your follower growth as well as the performance of your posts. It’s totally free to do - there’s no reason not to!

#18. Yotpo
Yotpo is an all-in-one Instagram marketing tool. It’s built around the concept of helping you generate customer reviews to boost traffic and drive sales. Yotpo’s platform helps you to sell, collect user content and run new great on Instagram.
On top of that, it allows you to create shoppable Instagram feeds like Like2Buy and Have2HaveIt - it’s a veritable suite of Instagram marketing tools that’s perfect for any company that’s looking to take their Instagram marketing to the next level.

#19. Sprout Social
Sprout Social is similar to Buffer and Later in that it’s a social media management platform. However, it features a couple of extra bells and whistles that make it a powerful Instagram marketing tool. In addition to letting you intuitively schedule posts, Sprout Social gives you the ability to manage and monitor comments and relevant hashtags, as well as create reports so you can more accurately track your performance on Instagram. Prices start at $99 and they offer a free trial for you to test the platform.

#20. Hopper
Hopper is another scheduling tool for Instagram, with a twist. Most scheduling apps are actually more accurately described as reminder apps - they don’t schedule posts, they just notify you when it’s time to post so you can do it yourself. However, Hopper has figured out a way to interact with Instagram in a way that allows it to fully automate your content scheduling, without those potentially annoying post reminders.
For marketers who really don’t have the time to attend to their social media platforms all that often, Hopper is a great investment.

Track competitors and do an analysis based on their content.
Use it to research keywords and trending topics your audience is interested in. You can use it to find interesting new posts to share or to search for content ideas based on what’s performing well.

Through Hootsuite Podium you can check out free online social media courses to develop better social media management skills and learn the fundamentals of social media marketing.
Buffer
Buffer started off as a scheduling tool for Twitter. Today, it supports all the major Social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, LinkedIn.
Top Features of Buffer:
Use the chrome extension to add articles and content from the web to your Buffer queue or share content on the go.
Automatically shortens links you share. If you’re a Bitly user, you can connect your accounts.
Upload custom photos and videos (or use ones pulled from the article you shared).
Access complex analytics to track your content’s performance.
Create a posting schedule so your content gets spread out throughout the day.
Reply to posts from inside Buffer.
Missinglttr
Social media promotion is vital to success in the online world, but the act of scheduling posts may not be the reason you bounce of bed every morning. Even if you use a tool to help you speed up the process of blasting all your channels at once, you still need to manually input the text and images for each post. Rinse and repeat to re-promote the posts.
Missinglettr helps you automate the process of creating social content by scraping your blog post content and creating a year’s worth of social content for you: nine individual posts dripped out to your social channels over a year.
Mention
Mention is an extremely comprehensive social listening tool. Monitor mentions of your brand, your products, or your competitors in real-time.
Staying on top of the conversation is easy: you can respond to Social media comments and mentions from inside the platform, and you can use Mention to find relevant influencers for influencer Marketing campaigns and analyze your competitors.
IFTTT
IFTTT: If this, then that. IFTTT tool lets you set up rules that make running your Social Media Marketing empire much easier.
IFTTT creates rules that trigger specific actions when something happens. For example, you can create a rule that means every time you get a Google notification for a specific alert, it gets added into a Google doc so you can check it all at the end of the day.
These rules can eliminate some of the manual back-and-forths, and help you streamline your process in a way that emphasizes and enhances individual productivity.
Zapier
Zapier is another tool that encourages automation and does share some similarities with IFTTT. One writer summarized the key differences rather well. IFTTT is easier to learn and great for light automation, while Zapier is a great tool for businesses that want to take their automation to new heights. A lot of
Marketers
use both for different tasks. As an extra bonus, Zapier plays nicely with most of the tools on this list.
Sumo
Sumo has a whole suite of useful traffic and Social Media tools that can help improve your Marketing Strategy tool. The most relevant social media tool is the social shares feature, which makes it easy for visitors to your site to share your content with Social Media, and it keeps track of the number of shares.

Note
I love reading your long posts, but damn son you have too much time on ur hands
Oh, gosh do I?
Tumblr media
Damn… I guess my five classes just aren’t enough huh? But you know it’s funny… if someone “love[d]” my long posts, one would think someone wouldn’t send an underhanded compliment like that, or feel the need to be anonymous to deliver it at that. If you truly enjoyed my long posts, you would probably leave supportive messages regarding a post you enjoyed or counter argue something I said you disagreed with, and leave your opinions about my lacking responsibilities to yourself. But since you asked, here’s a bit of what’s going on in my world.
Just, you know… since you THINK you know shit about my schedule.
I’m an honors undergraduate student. I major in literature and culture, minor in child studies. I have two classes that each require reading a novel a week (some short and sweet, others long and boring), and in one of those classes it means doing a weekly response assignment to the reading, in the other I only have four grades: midterm exam, midterm essay, final exam, and final essay. Then I have a literature class with lots of essays, short stories, and poetry to read, a weekly short essay (1-2 pages), and this teacher for some reason loves to make her exams excruciatingly hard so wish me luck on Wednesday 😉. Then I have a class which requires me to watch one, sometimes two, films a week and also do writing responses to them, weekly quizzes, and at the end of the semester have an analysis paper based on these films (and also at the end of the semester I will have four more papers on top of that including what I’m about to share). Now. If all of that wasn’t fun enough, HERE’S where the honors part comes in 😊.  I will also be producing a 25 page (minimum) thesis on the book history of a book of my choice. I already have spent about 4 hours writing a proposal (not including the research, that’s just writing and revising it) and it is only worth 10% of the final grade. I am doing HOURS of research only to come up with dead ends and basically end up wasting an entire day for NOTHING because people aren’t responding to my requests for interviews. Luckily my professor is very resourceful and is helping me organize a trip to another university library that has useful materials, but that is going to be another SOLID day of research if not two that may or may not end up showing me anything.
So you know what I do when I’m frustrated by a mix of my general course load and uncooperative resources for my topic?
I come to Tumblr. And I write about something I’m passionate about because this is actually what I want to do for a living. I want to write about media, analyze it, research the affects it has on the human brain in terms of awareness and see how media affects society. And as an added bonus, I get amazing people responding to my thoughts, adding theirs, and some even disagreeing with me! Which is exciting because nothing gets me more excited than interacting with a fellow critical thinker and reading other people’s experiences and seeing how their experiences impact their understanding and interpretation of this show. Plus their disagreement gives me a chance to reconsider my own interpretations and maybe even re-evaluate my understanding of a character or plotline.
And if you still aren’t convinced that I have enough on my plate or still think I spend too much time on here to possibly have that much on my plate, I’ll remind you of a GORGEOUS and lifesaving feature on here called the queue. Also as an honors student I know how to plan ahead. I had planned this blog about three MONTHS in advance before school started and now my queue is running dry on my original content, hence why I’m reblogging my MRMs and soon will be reblogging my ICYMI posts. About 85% of my posts on here are queued and then the remaining 15% is when I get a notification that someone responded to something or sent me an ask and then I usually have 10 minutes to spare to write something out. Usually though, I wait until the end of my day, check Tumblr before my day starts, and give one good thorough check during lunch time. Maybe once a day or once every couple of days I will respond to someone else’s post but even so that’s usually at the beginning or end of my day. I also have a lot of thoughts, and I type fast, so I’m able to punch out lots of long posts because I am accustomed to typing out long responses to things quickly. Definitely another pro of being an English major ;)
So anyway, maybe you, anon, have too much time on your hands. Because regardless of how much or how little I’m on Tumblr, how little or how much homework I have, I never have so much time on my hands that I feel the need to go in someone’s ask box and be rude. I never have so little to do that I would try to undercut someone’s dedication to a hobby or assume that I know shit about their life off of the internet.
P.S. To those of you reading this and may be concerned about my course load: don’t be. Please keep interacting the same as you usually do: comment on my posts, reblog and respond with your own opinions, send me questions and requests! My education is my primary priority and while Tumblr CAN be a distraction, it’s also the way I stay sane with the political climate what it is and when I’ve been working a little too hard or am swimming in mental circles with my assignments. Interacting with you guys gives me much needed breaks when my brain starts going mushy. I promise that Tumblr is not keeping me behind in my studies nor will I allow it to start now.
Much love to the lovelies!
