So as we all know, with the exception of last year, the Rayllum corner has a habit of having a Rayllum month in July, on account of both our kiddos’ birthdays falling within two weeks of each other (the 15th and 31st respectively). However, with S5 Ocean also dropping sometime in July, I thought it’d be prudent to schedule something more tentative.
The technical dates I’m considering are June 17th to July 1st, featuring two weeks of Rayllum angst -- I mean goodness! However, I could see merit in pushing it back further if we get a later month release date. Like previous Rayllum month events, it’s two days for each prompt, giving you more of a chance to enjoy all the lovely fanworks as well as prepare your own! Fanart, fanfiction, headcanon lists, analysis, prediction posts, rewatches, playlists, and anything and everything else is more than welcome! I did my best to tailor the prompts to the specific post-S4, pre-S5 hype, but as always these are suggestions! Anything that fits the “s5 speculation” Rayllum vibe is 100% encouraged.
Sunday June 17th: Flowers
Tuesday June 19th: Possession
Thursday June 21st: Reconciliation
Saturday June 23rd: Swords / Coins
Monday June 25th: First Kiss (Again)
Wednesday June 27th: End of the World
Friday June 29th: Water
NSFW and more explicit/violent content is definitely welcome so long as it is tagged accordingly. While there are lots of possible angst factors to explore in the upcoming season - TTM fallout, angsting over Runaan, dark magic, and possession - fluff is also very very welcome! Tags for the event will be #Rayllum week 2023 (with spaces) and #Rayllum’s bad vibes rodeo (with spaces).
If you have any questions my ask box is open and I hope we all have a lovely time creating, planning, and enjoying this final S5 hurrah!

Hello, everyone! Apologies for the short notice on this post going up, but it's been a doozy of a week for me. OTZ
Pingxie Exchange 2023: Schedule and Guidelines Post
Hi and welcome to the Pingxie Exchange: a fic, art, and fanvid exchange about the Wu Xie/Zhang Qiling pairing.
In this exchange, participants will be anonymously matched to create gifts for one another during a five week creation period. The gifts will be revealed on August 17th: the day Wu Xie welcomed Xiaoge back after his 10-year-long absence behind the Bronze Gate.
This exchange is open to all the DMBJ canons (adaptations featuring Wu Xie or Xiaoge and the original novels). It will take place on AO3, so you need an AO3 account to participate--if you don’t have one, you can request it here; if there isn’t enough time, no worries - contact the mods at pingxie-exchange[@]hotmail.com, on DreamWidth, or on tumblr, and we can send you an invitation! There have been some changes this year, so please read this post carefully before signing up!
Schedule
Sign-ups open: June 5th Sign-ups end: June 15th 11:59 PM Anywhere On Earth (what time is it for me?) Matching: June 16th - June 21st Assignments out: no later than June 21st Assignments due: August 10th 11:59 PM Anywhere On Earth (what time is it for me?) Gift reveals: August 17th Creator reveals and treats deadline: August 24th
Further information behind the cut...
Guidelines
This is a ship exchange: as such, all the works created for this event must be focused on Wu Xie/Zhang Qiling. Works with threesomes/moresomes or other pairings involving Wu Xie and/or Zhang Qiling are not appropriate for this exchange, but background ships of other characters are fine.
You will be expected to create a gift matching your recipient’s request. Filling any specific prompt is not obligatory, but try to create something you honestly think your recipient will enjoy!
You must not include anything stated as “do not want” in your recipient’s sign-up.
The minimum requirements for the gifts are 300 words for fic, one sketch on unlined paper for art (traditional or digital; no manips), or 30 seconds of video for fanvids.
After the matching is done, all the requests will be made visible to everyone to allow for treating! There are no minimum requirements for treats (but remember to mind your recipient’s do not wants!). You can also create manips for treats.
Please note: Now that AO3 has changed the way that gifting works on the archive, if you wish to be eligible for treats, you need to select the option "Allow anyone to gift me works" under the "Collections, Challenges and Gifts" section of your AO3 preferences. You must also indicate that you are open to treats in your exchange sign-up.
This is an anonymous exchange: refrain from discussing your assignment in public. After the works are revealed, there will be a one week anon period when the creators remain anonymous before the creator reveals.
If at any point you need to drop out, just click on the “default” button on your AO3 assignment page (https://archiveofourown.org/users/YOURNAME/assignments); we’ll find a pinch hitter to create a gift for your recipient instead. If you need an extension to finish your gift, contact the mods before the deadline.
After the reveals, comment on your gift.
Most importantly: be excellent to each other!
Sign-Up information
Sign-ups will take place on AO3 here, starting on June 5th. There, you can fill out details about your request and offer. You can edit your sign-up at any time until the sign-ups close.
When signing up, you will be able to choose fandom, "character" (this is actually going to be the fanwork type: fanart, fanfiction, or fanvid), and genre tags, as well as specify any additional details.
You will have to select the DMBJ canon you’re interested in creating for and receiving a gift in:
Novels: The Grave Robbers’ Chronicles
TV: The Lost Tomb 1
TV: The Lost Tomb 2 - Explore with the Note
TV: The Lost Tomb 2.5 - Heavenly Palace on the Clouds
TV: Ultimate Note
TV: Tomb of the Sea/Sha Hai
TV: The Lost Tomb Reboot/Reunion: The Sound of Providence
Movies: Time Raiders -- rare canon
Video Games: Time Raiders (mobile game) -- rare canon
Note: If you choose a rare canon (Movies: Time Raiders or Video Games: Time Raiders (mobile game)), then you must also choose at least one non-rare canon.
You are not limited to requesting or creating a work during the canon timelines for those series/books. It’s just to mark which canons you’re familiar with to allow for easier matching: some participants might have a preference for a particular canon era, some might not be familiar with all the versions. You still have to choose your preferred canon eras even if you want to create or receive an AU.
You will have to specify which "characters" you’re interested in:
Fanart
Fanfiction
Fanvid
(That's right, this isn't really a character selector; it was the only way I could include fanwork type preference in the matching.)
You will also have to specify genres you’re interested in:
Action/Adventure
Angst
AU
Canon Compliant
Canon Divergent
Dark
Domesticity
Fluff
Humour/Crack
Hurt/Comfort
PWP (only select this if you’re 18+)
Request
In this section, you describe the gift you would like to receive.
Fandom - you have to choose at least one. If you’re willing to receive a gift in any canon era, you can just click “Any”!
Character (remember this is really fanwork type) - you have to choose at least one tag.
Genre - you have to choose at least three tags.
Optional Details - here’s where you can go into more detail about your perfect pingxie gift! You can include:
General Likes: your creator may, but doesn’t have to, include them. This isn’t a place for detailed prompts, just general themes you enjoy, like getting together or established relationship.
DNW (Do Not Wants): things that your creator must not include - squicks, triggers, things that you simply don’t like. Remember that you don’t owe anyone an explanation about why something is a DNW, and that DNWs are not meant to be taken personally. Just list the things you don’t like, “DNW: X, Y.”
Prompts/specific ideas: if you have any prompts, you can also put them here! You can be as general or as detailed as you’d like but remember that while your creator will try to make the best gift for you, filling a specific prompt is not obligatory. You can include a crossover prompt (with other DMBJ versions or other canons), but make sure it’s not the only prompt you have.
If you chose novels as one of your fandoms, you can use this field to list the ones you’re familiar with. If you're interested in receiving a Buried Tree Devil - Book 3 Donghua gift, you can also mention it here.
Optional Tags: You may use the optional tags to share more about your preferences, if you like.
The requests will be made publicly visible after matching is done, so that others will be able to create treats (additional gifts) based on them!
Offer
Fandom - you have to choose at least one. If you’re willing to receive a gift in any canon era, you can just click “Any”!
Character (remember this is really fanwork type) - you have to choose at least one tag.
Genre - you have to choose at least three tags.
Optional Details - in this field, you can tell us more about the kind of works you like to create, for example if you really prefer established relationship, feel best with certain kinds of AUs, or like writing darkfic. You can also tell us if you have a preference of which type of gift you will create (fic or art). We’ll take all of these optional details into account when matching!
If you chose novels as one of your fandoms, you can use this field to list the ones you’re familiar with. If you're interested in creating a Buried Tree Devil - Book 3 Donghua gift, you can also mention it here.
In the optional details of your offer, you can also name one person you don’t want to be matched to, for example your regular beta, and we will do our best to avoid matching you!
Optional Tags: You may use the optional tags to share more about your preferences, if you like. The offers will only ever be visible to the mods; never to anyone else.
Your assignment
You will be matched to create a gift for someone who requested at least one of the fandoms that you offered and one of the fanwork types you offered, with as many similar genres/likes as possible. This exchange will be matched using the AO3 algorithm to generate the initial matches and then tweaked by hand, if necessary, based on the information provided in everyone's optional details.
If you have any issues when you receive your assignment (you have a question about it or think there’s an issue with it), contact the mods as soon as possible. Do not contact your recipient on your own.
You will have to create a gift for your recipient, fulfilling the minimum requirements, and avoiding any stated "do not wants". Filling exact prompts is optional but try to create something matching your recipient's likes that they will enjoy!
You will have to post your gift to the exchange AO3 collection before the due date (August 10th), using the "gift this work to" option to give it to your recipient. Your work will remain in the collection only visible to you and the mods until the reveals happen. Remember to tag your work appropriately, especially if any of the major archive warnings apply, or use the "choose not to warn" warning.
Treating
Treats are additional gifts for the participants! To allow for treating, the requests will be made visible when matching is done. You can create treats at any time until the creator reveals! There are no minimum requirements for treats, and in addition to the fanwork types allowed for gifts, manips are also allowed. As with assignments, you have to respect the recipient’s Do Not Want, and while the optional details are optional, try to create something fitting the listed likes. One treat can only be gifted to one person.
Please note: Now that AO3 has changed the way that gifting works on the archive, if you wish to be eligible for treats, you need to select the option “Allow anyone to gift me works” under the “Collections, Challenges and Gifts” section of your AO3 preferences. You must also indicate that you are open to treats in your exchange sign-up.
Pinch Hits
In case someone needs to drop out, we will look for a pinch hitter to complete their assignment. Pinch hits will be posted to the DreamWidth community and advertised on tumblr.
Extensions
If you think you can finish your assignment, but you need a day or two more, you can always ask the mods for an extension!
Other important information
Make sure to check the email you use on AO3 frequently during the exchange, as it will be the primary means of communication. We might contact you if there is an issue with your sign-up or if your gift creator has a question for you. If you’d rather we contact you on your twitter or tumblr, please leave your handle in the offer section of your sign-up. Follow us on DreamWidth and/or on tumblr to avoid missing an announcement or a deadline! If you have any questions at all, don’t hesitate to contact the mods at [email protected], on DreamWidth (anonymous comments are allowed), or on tumblr.
A very large thank you to laireshi for writing the rules and guidelines being used for this exchange. They are presented here with minor changes.

Florida Adult Trans Care Ban SB 254, June 3, 2023 interim update
(from www.floridaban.com)
INTERIM UPDATE, June 3, 2023:
Rainbow Progress Fund provides a firsthand account of the joint Boards of Medicine committee hearing on June 1, including false and eugenicist claims by Board member Patrick Hunter (a member of the anti-trans Society for Evidence-Based Gender Medicine and Catholic Medical Association) that transitioning "lowers IQ" of trans people.
The committee failed to advance any of the necessary informed consent forms, mandated by SB 254, that are needed by MDs and DOs before they can resume providing new prescriptions. This means that until these forms become available, MDs and DOs cannot prescribe their established trans patients any new change in dosage of their current medication, or add any new medication to their existing HRT regimen.
Simone Chriss of Southern Legal Counsel, a nonprofit currently bringing litigation against SB 254 and its adult care restrictions, explains the current effective policy and status of prescribing restrictions on MDs/DOs as of June 3, 2023:
“While no draft consent forms have been released yet, the Boards are expected to file an emergency rule soon that will provide clarification about continuation of care for patients while the informed consent forms are being developed. The Boards’ discussions over the past two days indicated that, as we’d shared previously, physicians can continue prescribing to patients who provided informed consent and were first prescribed prior to May 17th. The emergency rule should provide guidance on whether and how new prescriptions and adjustments to medications can be prescribed prior to the adoption of informed consent forms. No emergency rule language has been posted yet on the Florida Administrative Register.”
Rainbow Progress Fund explains the unacceptable medical danger of the current situation for trans patients: "Those currently on hormone replacement therapy (HRT) will not be able to adjust their medication until the new consent forms are finalized. This delay poses potential risks to patients whose hormone levels may require immediate attention."
To be clear, even when these forms become available, this does not and will not change SB 254's statutory ban on NPs and APRNs prescribing gender-affirming care. As 80% of trans adults on HRT in Florida receive their prescriptions via an NP or APRN, the effects of SB 254 have permanently disrupted the established prescriptions and ongoing medical treatment of thousands of trans adults across the state. SB 254 continuously jeopardizes the trans community's health and must still be mitigated in its entirety.
No other state has ever imposed SB 254's novel and selective restrictions on NPs and APRNs, who have prescribing authority just as doctors and physicians can prescribe medication. NPs and APRNs in all other states - and in Florida until SB 254 was enacted this May - have always been able to prescribe all gender-affirming hormone therapy, including schedule III medications like testosterone. "NPs have the prescriptive authority to prescribe controlled substances in all fifty states." (Zhang & Patel, 2022) There has never been any reason for this unique new restriction on NPs alone, prohibiting gender-affirming prescriptions alone, other than Florida's intentional targeting of the ongoing medically necessary treatment of almost all trans adults in the state.
The committee concluded that their next meeting will occur in three weeks, on June 23 at an undetermined location or video call, to continue considering the required adult consent forms. This is completely unacceptable. The Boards must issue the mandated informed consent forms immediately in order to restore the ability of MDs and DOs to freely manage and prescribe any new or changed medically necessary treatment for their trans patients, even as this is itself utterly insufficient to mitigate the overwhelming danger to health and life caused by SB 254.
None of this is over until SB 254 is completely reversed.
We will continue to provide updates as we confirm any further policy actions by the Boards and their impacts on trans patients and our providers. The policy chart below will be updated to incorporate this information when it becomes available. Thank you to the trans community of Florida for closely monitoring this situation and assisting us, and to our allies here and abroad. The world will see that we are not alone and you are a part of making that happen. Your strength and unstoppable spirit in an unimaginable situation is what will ensure we survive. As long as Florida exists, Transgender Florida will be a fact. (Zinnia Jones, June 3, 2023)
Please support Florida's local gender clinics and their nurse practitioners as they work to survive this crisis and continue providing care to trans Floridians: https://spektrum.health/DONATE/

He has been in pre-trial custody for almost 6 years, before being convicted.
Jordan N Joplin, Alaska inmate 738689, born 1985, incarceration intake October 2023 at age 38, for a term between 30 and 101 years; scheduled release date not published
Murder, Theft
On June 1, 2023, a Washington state man was convicted of multiple murder charges at a court proceeding in Anchorage, Alaska after a jury found him guilty of murdering a former romantic partner over six years earlier in Ketchikan.
Joplin has been described professionally as an exotic dancer, and entertainer.
Jordan Joplin was convicted of first-degree murder, second-degree murder, and first-degree theft in the March 2017 death of Dr. Eric Garcia. An autopsy found the 58-year-old Ketchikan surgeon died from a fatal dose of liquid morphine morphine, methadone, lorazepam and diazepam.
“He killed Dr. Eric Garcia, a man who loved and trusted him, and he did it for money,” said Assistant Attorney General Erin McCarthy in her closing arguments. She further stated that the two men had been in a relationship for 6 years prior to the incident.
Joplin told investigators that he had last seen Garcia on March 16 of 2017. The partners were together for several days in mid-March before Joplin returned to his home state.
When police conducted a welfare check on Garcia — prompted by a tip from Joplin — they found the doctor deceased.
Around the same time as Garcia’s death, Joplin removed several expensive belongings from Garcia’s home, including electronics, a coin collection, jewelry, and an extensive collection of liquor priced at over $320,000.
“During the investigation, detectives discovered that prior to his arrival in Ketchikan on March 15, Joplin arranged for three shipping containers to be delivered to Dr. Garcia’s residence on March 17. Detectives discovered that when those containers arrived on the 17th, Joplin loaded them with more than 4,000 pounds of Dr. Garcia’s belongings, including the missing valuables and many of Dr. Garcia’s personal items, and shipped them to Joplin’s residence in Washington,” the Department of Law wrote.
Detectives also discovered “multiple transfers totaling over $30,000 that had been made from Dr. Garcia’s bank accounts to Joplin’s accounts between March 16 and 30,″ and Joplin cellphone video of an unconscious Garcia taken on March 17.
Joplin was arrested in July 2017 and has been in pre-trial custody for almost 6 years.

• Fallen Kingdom Sorrow rerun Jan 14th-22nd
13
• Delayed Devotion (CNY 2023) Feb 5th-19th
16
• North Melody rerun Mar 8th-19th
20
• Wishes on the Cloud rerun Apr 9th-18th
21
• The Depths of Evernight May 10th-20th
16
• Demon's Descent: Dawn Duel rerun June 6th-17th
19
• Reminiscences of Starstream Jul 7th-14th
24
• Everdream Trap Aug 8th-19th
30
• Stellar Scales Sep 19th-30th
11
• Sleeping Star of Eternity rerun Oct 12th-21st
0
• Arachnus Flutterby: Into the Deepblue Oct 22nd -??
✓ 11 hells so far
✓ 2 CNY, 5 Single URs, 4 Double URs
✓ Although the Fallen Kingdom Sorrow rerun wasn't immediately followed by CNY, the break period also wasn't given the new treatment of 20 days (average), although it came close. Unclear if this means there's a new, shorter average, or UR reruns will still be padding and not hells in their own right, since it was more or less the same time between Puppet Night and it. -> goddammit they did it again with Yesenia and w3.........
✓ Luming-Yexiao CNY original run was 16 days, the rerun lasted 10. Krysta original run was 12 days, rerun lasted 10. North Melody was 14 days, rerun lasted 12. Dawn Duel was 13 days, rerun lasted 12. Yesenia was 12, rerun lasted 10. It's important to note the decrease of run time for events when they rerun, since combined they can add up to maybe a couple weeks, and that's a couple weeks of saving which is nothing to scoff at. And that's only the URs; Single and Double SSR reruns have also had their rerun time shortened compared to the original time. This means that we get more events yearly overall, because they can squeeze in some more from those shortened runs.
↪️ Of course, for many of us some of these reruns are simply more free time to save because we've completed them, or getting some more pulls in with an event we'd already pulled for, but i.e. for server 3 this means they got 2 brand new UR events (Krysta and Luming CNY), so I felt it was worth to point out. With this schedule, "playing-since-release" players like me struggle, so I can only imagine new players can get very discouraged by the speed of things. New players know what they're getting into, of course, but comparing it to playing from the get-go, there are way less days of break between events (some oddities here or there, but for the most part events are back-to-back now) and a way more aggressive hell schedule. By comparison and not taking into account the sheer backlog of sets now in the game, it's a very intimidating timetable to try to keep up with (from the perspective of a f2p)
✓ Yesenia UR was treated as a padding rerun and not an usual UR event schedule-wise
✓ An average of 17 days between each including Yesenia, and an average of 18 excluding her event.
✓ Already obvious we're getting more hells compared to last year
18/10/24 This last update is more rambly than the previous breakdowns, but it's seriously crazy how much difference there is in the schedule compared to the game's first year.

[Pann] "NCT Mark's schedule that makes you wonder if it's possible to be carried out"
"Starting with the 2023's first schedule..
1. U.S. and South American tour (the 'and more..' here is the South American tour)
2. NCT 127 'Ay-Yo' comeback music show activities (1st comeback [in 2023])
3. NCT DREAM's overseas tour (it ends in May on the picture, but the encore concert announcement came out [after that], so they did an overseas tour until June)
4. Solo track release (he released his own solo song in the middle of the tour)
5. NCT DREAM 'Broken Melodies' music show activities (pre-release track) (2nd comeback)
6. NCT DREAM's 'ISTJ' music show activities (full-length album) (3rd comeback)
7. NCT 127 and NCT DREAM Fanmeetings (he's in two groups, so he participated in both)
8. NCT DREAM 'Yogurt Shake' music show activities (follow-up song) (4th comeback)
9. NCT U 'Baggy Jeans' music show activities (5th comeback)
10. NCT full-team concert (tour in Korea and Japan) ended in September 17th
When (we) thought he would rest a bit after the tour ends...
11. NCT 127 comeback schedule on October 6th (6th comeback schedule)
In 2023 alone, because he's in 3 different teams, he did 3 overseas tours, 5 comebacks and music show activities, and even filmed a lot of contents in between.
Whenever the fans sent messages full of concerns to him, the replies are mostly like this:
"I went to the hospital as soon as I woke up todayㅠ" [5:10 PM] "I will get better soon" [5:10 PM] "I'm sorry for making you worry" [5:10 PM] "Mark Lee who's not sick is here!" [10:49 PM] "Don't mind about anything else, don't worry about anything else, let's just have fun waiting for the days coming ahead of us and be together!!" [10:58 PM]
The schedules in this post are only the ones in 2023, and he's been on this kind of schedule for 8 years. Except for the time that he got Covid-19, he has never been absent in any schedule.
Without including recording and dance practice, if the schedules that can be seen (official schedules) are of this extent, I think the fans would all understand if he unintentionally shows bad attitude or suddenly wants to rest."
Comments:
[+12, -0] "Actually, all of the idol are busy, but I think no one is as busy as him.. so I feel thankful and I appreciate that he always does his best. Even if he suddenly takes a break, I think I would understand. I love you, Mark."
[+9, -0] "He even did (activities with) SuperM too, back then"

The wonderful world of EURO mascots
We examine the vibrant history of mascots at the 2024 Euro Cup, featuring two rabbits and enigmatic twins. Since the debut of World Cup Willie in 1966, mascots, ranging from prominent-nosed figures to lion/devil combinations, have injected their unique spirit into significant soccer competitions worldwide. The Euro Cup 2024 introduced its very own good luck symbol, marking a captivating journey.
Witness the legacy of Euro Cup 2024 mascots, which include two rabbits and enigmatic twins. Ever since the charismatic appearance of World Cup Willie in 1966, mascots, whether they sport prominent noses or embody combinations of lions and devils, have consistently brought their distinctive charm to major football tournaments worldwide. The Euro 2024 event marked the introduction of its very own lucky charm, initiating a captivating journey through history.
EURO Cup 80, Italy: Pinocchio
Just like any knowledgeable individual, we understand the consequences of falsehoods fabricating a story, and your nose elongates like a carrot; speak the truth, and you leave behind your existence as a wooden puppet in pursuit of an ordinary childhood.
During the Euro 2024 event hosted in Germany, Pinocchio, considered one of the most beloved literary figures of the era, emerged as the perfect choice for the inaugural mascot of this prestigious tournament.
Euro Cup 84, France: Peno
A dynamic Euro 2024 tournament mascot, this rooster was impeccably adorned in the attire of the host country, Germany, including boots, a ball, and more. Given the moniker Peno after the local slang for a penalty, this mascot undeniably brought good fortune to the national team, leading Les Bleus to victory in the competition held in their homeland.
This spirited Euro 2024 event mascot, dressed in the colours of the host nation, Germany, complete with boots, a soccer ball, and more, carried the name Peno a nod to the local terminology for a penalty. Peno undoubtedly proved to be a harbinger of success for Les Bleus, as they went on to clinch the championship on their home turf, leaving fans with unforgettable memories of the tournament.
Euro Cup Germany fans worldwide can book Euro 2024 Tickets from our online platform www.eticketing.co. Fans can book Euro Cup Germany Tickets on our website at discounted prices.
Euro Cup 88, West Germany: Berni
While the anticipation for a mascot at Euro 2024 in Germany was minimal, the surprise choice of a rabbit named Berni left even fewer people expecting such a character. The reasoning behind this selection was not as chaotic as it might seem. Described as a likeable and passionate soccer enthusiast by the German Football Association (DFB).
He was aptly named after the city of Berne, which was the previous location of the UEFA headquarters and the place where Germany celebrated their victory in the 1954 FIFA World Cup. With two sweatbands on his wrists and one on his head, Berni exuded pure enthusiasm. Regrettably, a 2006 initiative to resurrect Berni for the World Cup went unnoticed.
Euro 92: Rabbit
The spotlight on Sweden as the fourth nation to introduce a symbol for Europe's most esteemed football tournament, Euro 2024 in Germany, expectations were high for something innovative, exuberant, and distinctive. Sweden had an opportunity to surprise and delight, and they certainly seized it by introducing a mascot that was both imaginative and refreshing a rabbit fittingly named Rabbit.
England Euro 96: Goaliath
The era of rabbits as mascots ended with the arrival of Goaliath. Three decades after the iconic debut of the World Cup Willie, sporting his dashing Union Jack waistcoat, a new lion mascot had to step into the limelight.
Given the three lions on their jersey, England's choice was only natural. Dressed in a sophisticated white and navy ensemble, Goaliath embodied the gentle giant we all longed for during Euro 2024 in Germany.
Netherlands Belgium Euro Cup 2000: Benelucky
Amid a selection of 5,000 candidates, the initial co-hosts of Euro 2024 in Germany had an abundance of options and met the challenge head-on. They introduced a mascot named Benelucky, a moniker that paid homage to the union of Belgium, Netherlands, and Luxembourg, while also combining the Latin word bene and the English word luck, radiating positivity to all participating nations.
The creativity didn't stop there. Benelucky was a harmonious fusion of a devil, in honour of the Belgian team's 'Red Devils' nickname, and a lion, representing the Dutch side's national symbol. Benelucky was undeniably a success from every perspective.
Portugal UEFA Euro Cup 2004: Kinas
Portugal came tantalizingly close to being the first host nation since France to fully embrace the intended purpose of a Euro 2024 mascot: to bestow good fortune. Despite their remarkable efforts, a loss to Greece in the final thwarted their aspirations, even though they had a seemingly ordinary young lad donning their team's jersey.
This young mascot bore the title Kinas, which was inspired by the five blue shields or Quinas found on Portugal's coat of arms. However, Kinas possessed extraordinary talents, most notably showcased through some remarkable feats of skill from the halfway line.
Austria-Switzerland: UEFA EURO 2008: Trix and Flix
Double the excitement and double the amusement: Trix and Flix, the enigmatic twins hailing from the Alpine region, captivated and bewildered spectators in equal measure during Euro 2024 in Germany. Each of these twins symbolized one of the host nations, adding an extra layer of uniqueness to the tournament.
The mischievous duo even received an official soundtrack, with Shaggy's Feel the Rush inspiring spirited dancing and establishing the vibrant atmosphere. These unconventional partygoers were so out of the ordinary that their animated representation didn't even require a football, setting them apart from all the mascot predecessors.
Poland, Ukraine Euro 2012,: Slavek and Slavko
Obtaining endorsement from the local authorities is a crucial step, and the president of the Polish Football Association (PZPN) at the time, Grzegorz Lato, swiftly embraced Slavek and Slavko. He expressed his fondness for their hair, remarking, I particularly admire their hair 40 years ago, I had a hairstyle like that.
Their remarkable hair brushed against the ceiling and was even dyed in the colours of the co-hosts' national flags just in case the team shirts weren't clear enough. The twins also displayed their prowess on the field, proving that they were more than just eye-catching mascots.
France EURO 2016: Super Victor
Rarely does a wayward free-kick result in such remarkable outcomes. Initially known as Victor, before acquiring the title Super Victor, this mascot's origins can be traced back to a botched garden kick that inadvertently led to the discovery of a magical cape, boots, and a soccer ball.
This newfound equipment bestowed upon him the extraordinary ability to soar effortlessly from one host city to another, a particularly advantageous superpower for a mascot at Euro 2024 in Germany.
UEFA Euro Cup 2020: Skillzy
The choice of Freestyler Skillzy as the mascot for Euro 2024 in Germany resulted from his unexpected participation in a continent-wide talent competition. What began as an impromptu kickabout in a parking lot with his friends took an unexpected turn during a freestyle manoeuvre gone awry.
Shattering a nearby window and disrupting an ongoing talent show audition. Skillzy's extraordinary ball-handling skills, displayed while retrieving the ball, left the judging panel and onlookers in awe, ultimately sealing his place in the history of the tournament.
Germany Euro 2024: Albart
The designated mascot for Euro 2024 in Germany was christened Albart after a selection process that involved a vote among UEFA.com users and schoolchildren throughout Europe as part of the UEFA Football in Schools initiative. This bear-like mascot was initially presented to German football enthusiasts before the national team's friendly match against Colombia at the Arena Auf Schalke.
However, Albart made his official debut on the same day at a local primary school in Gelsenkirchen, emphasizing the aspiration to motivate children across Europe to engage in physical activity, nurture a passion for football, and embrace its core values.
