"I'll let you buy me the second one, if that's any consolation." he smirked as he looked into her deep brown eyes. There was no denying her beauty -it was captivating. From the innocent, yet sultry look; to her long, red locks; to her tall, slender body. He couldn't help but wonder on whether had done some modeling in her past. She stood out too much a regular 9 to 5. He was glad that she seemed to entertain the idea of being entertained, at least. Did she come by herself? The eye contact was broken when the bartender came over to serve her the drink. "Put it on my tab." he let the bartender know just before he left.

His eyes lowered from her brown hues to the her plump red lips wrapped around the little straw and back to those seductive eyes of her. "I'll give it a try. You make it look good." he said, leaning closer to her to to take a sip of her drink. The cocktail was an immediate throwback to his younger days. Sweet whiskey and cranberry juice. It was a mix that led to many bad, yet wildly fun ideas in the past. "Sweet." he said, licking his lips as he pulled back. "I'm Emir, by the way."

Scarlett could feel her cheeks reddening further at his comment back, hands instinctively pushing down the fabric of her skirt as she dropped her brown hues from him for a second or so. It was a good feeling to be flirted with, with no worry or stress followed behind it, especially when the person flirting with you was as delicious looking as the one in front of her. Eyes found his again once she heard him continue speaking and her smile widened.

"Sure, okay," she nodded her head at him, elbows coming to rest on the very ledge she had just been bent over. "Though, I think I should return the favor for my negligence...it would have been a real shame if you would have ended up all messed up because of little ol' me." she reached forward with one hand to place it on his closest arm as her features morphed into a more innocent look to match what she had said. Hearing the bartender call for her though, the redhead turned from him and took the freshly made drink in her hand. "Thank you!" she sent back, before turning and facing him once again. Bringing the drink to her lips Scarlett maintained eye contact as she drank down some of the liquid. "Mmm," she sounded out as she stopped, offering her drink towards him now. "Do you wanna have a taste of what you paid for?"

There is nothing in the world that could make Nilay miss out one of Moshe's lectures. For as long as they have known each other, no matter what, they always ensured to be there and support the other. Every graduation, every lecture, every event, every signing, every premiere; Anything and everything, they've become each other's constant person for such experiences in their lives. The anthropologist had even made sure to be the first person to show up at the room, finding a spot in the middle with a good view of her best friend while still leaving other good spots for students and anyone else interested in his lecture. She noticed a redhead taking the seat next to her and gave her a smile, the room slowly building up with more people. It was a decent crowd and while she knew that Moshe's anxiety sometimes got to him, she knew that he could do this. And her smile grew the moment she saw her best friend enter and getting set-up for his lecture. A soft laugh soon leaving her lips as she noticed his tie. "I gave him that," she told the redhead, nodding towards Moshe's ancient Egyptian-themed tie. "We were in Luxor together for a few days before his doctorates graduation when we stopped by one of the museum's gift shops and I saw it. I swear, he always wears it when he wants to feel extra lucky."

With his virgin margarita in hand, basically just a fruit slushie, he slid into the seat across from the redhead without any preamble. When they made eye contact he offered a dimpled smile and shrugged slightly. "Hope you don't mind... the place is kind of packed." He also wasn't really in the mood to eat alone yet hadn't felt like calling or texting anyone to meet up with him. "We can swap a slice of each other's pizza, pretend we're besties and then go on about our lives," Grayson suggested as though that would sweeten up his commandeering half of her table. "If you want to eat alone just pretend him not here."

Noticing the way Scarlett seemed to relax a little around him made Dougie smile, grateful that his suggestion to head out seemed to put her at ease. The thought alone, too, put him at ease. They had so much to discuss and to sort out, that much was true. And the moment he found out she was carrying a child, his child - their child, it was an intense one, that was for sure.  The man was an overthinker when there wasn’t a lot to think about. To be tasked with helping decide where they went from here was something that would require a lot more overthinking than usual. Which usually wouldn’t be a problem for him. It was his special talent, after all. But the thing was, it wasn’t just his life to think about. He had Scarlett to worry about, their baby to worry about. His innate desire to look after them both outweighed any amount of overthinking could do. Either way, Douglas knew he needed to step up. Hadn’t he always wanted a little family of his own? As far as he was concerned, he considered her family. He loved her at a distance within the confines of his own heart as they lived together. Dougie couldn’t bear the thought of being anywhere else, with anyone else, and had gotten used to, or maybe too comfortable with the way they lived. Of coming home to her every day, seeing the warm smile on her face when he walked into the room. They could make it work, he was sure. As for the alternative…it was hard. But if it went down that route, then he would understand.  It wasn’t him that had to have their baby growing inside of their body for nine months.

Dougie’s heart lifted slightly at the sight of Scarlett’s smile. It was a small victory, a sign that amidst the whirlwind of emotions, they could still find a moment of normalcy. As he followed Scarlett out the door, Dougie offered her a warm smile. “I try my best to be,” he chirped back at her. “Chinese it is then. Dumplings and sweet and sour balls sound perfect,” he said, trying to keep his tone light and easy despite the gravity of their situation. “Maybe some of those sesame prawn toasts too. Now my stomach’s definitely rumbling,” he added, a light laugh escaping his lips. The brisk evening air hit them as they stepped outside, and Dougie pulled his jacket a little tighter around him. They walked side by side, the quiet between them comfortable, if a bit heavy with unspoken thoughts. He glanced occasionally at Scarlett, noticing the way she held her stomach—a gesture that reminded him of the life they were discussing, a life they would have to make decisions about together. His heart swelled with all the words he everything he wanted to say to her. And for a moment, there was something. A moment of bravery, perhaps. He didn’t know, simply overwhelmed with the need to tell her how he felt. “Um, you know, I’ve been thinking...” Dougie started, his voice faltering as he felt his heart race. He stopped walking for a moment, taking a deep breath to steady himself. His mind raced, head giddy, thoughts colliding in a jumble of what he wanted to say and what he feared. His hand fidgeted with the hem of his jacket, a nervous habit that betrayed his inner turmoil. But as he looked at her, along came the sudden rush of doubt. Was now really the right time to lay his heart bare? To put even more pressure on her, on their situation they still had to sort through? The fear of potentially complicating things or making a misstep was overwhelming. He wasn’t sure he could handle her reaction, potential rejection, especially with so much already on their plates. So, the words faltered, and he hesitated, his anxiety flaring. He glanced at Scarlett, her presence making it all the more difficult to voice what was on his mind. “—about how we should probably pick up some extra soy sauce while we’re out. You can never have too much, right?” he said awkwardly, his voice trailing off as he avoided her gaze, stuffing his hands in his pockets as he shook his head to himself and carried on walking.

It was like a spiralling loop hole that Scarlett was finding herself in. A loop hole with endless variables, endless possibilities and she didn't know which one was going to be the real one, which one was going to be the one that came out on top in the end. Would it be the life where she kept the baby or where she didn't. If she kept it would her and Dougie be together or would they let their friendship just stay as that and she ends up with someone else, ends up raising their child with another man and sharing weekends with him. She didn't want that though... She wanted the life where it would be the three of them laughing and smiling. Both of them seeing their child grow up and seeing who they would become. The thought itself made her smile but maybe it would end up being the side of she doesn't keep it. She doesn't keep their child and maybe it puts a dent on their friendship knowing that she 'killed' their unborn child. The thoughts and stress getting to her when all she wanted was her best friend by her side, a man that she fell in love with secretly,

There was a flicker of a smile that curled up on her lips as she listened to his voice, listened to his laugh which made her shoulders drop and become in a more comfortable relaxed state. ❝ I'm kind of thinking Chinese, really craving some dumplings and sweet and sour balls would be delicious as well. ❞ She stated at the thought of the food. She went and picked up her jacket, throwing of over her body as she pushed her arms in the sleeves before slipping on a pair of her comfortable boots. ❝ Always such a gentleman, Dougie. ❞ She hummed with a smile before heading outside their door to head and get some food placing her hand over her stomach for a mixture of reason's, one from being hungry but the other because of the baby that was growing inside of her.

It was a relief that she had taken it so well. Part of him had been expecting whomever the owner was to yell at him and it would be fair, it would be incredibly frustrating and an unexpected hassle to deal with. Trey visibly relaxed now but still shook his head. "Nah. I insist that I pay for it. Accident or not this isn't an inconvenience you needed." For a moment he watched her and only further confirmed that the vehicle was hers by unlocking and tossing her belongings inside. When she started mentioning a repair shop nearby Trey nodded and then had to take a moment on remembering which direction. He'd never had to use the shop so it wasn't a fixture for him. "Yeah, it's a couple of blocks south if you take the main strip, then take a left... you wont be able to miss it. If you want you can follow me there?" He'd mostly grown up in this town so it was nice to know other people were picking up on the vibes and becoming residents as well. "So, you just moved here?" Trey asked as he moved over to the back passenger door and tossed the football in his hands into his vehicle.

Scarlett by no means wanted to come off rude to him, she just wasn't sure if this was a ploy to keep her away from the one man she traveled here to truly find. When he explained to her what happened she visibly relaxed, the man she was after wouldn't have sent any of his people to throw a ball through her window and stay behind afterword to apologize for it. "Oh no, no, don't worry about it," she shook her head, waving a hand in the direction of the car before continuing. "This car has been paid off for years and It's an easy fix. It was an accident anyways." she stepped towards her car now, pulling her keys out and pressing down on the unlock button before pulling on the front door handle. "I think there's a shop around here anyways, right? I'm still figuring out the place...you think it would be open today?" she tossed her keys inside of the car, wishing she had gotten two of the sweet treats instead of just one—she was for sure going to need it.
