Do you ever think about the logistics of Neil’s scars after Baltimore?

Like do you think about how some of those cuts needed stitches? How that skin turned purple and red? How it knotted and turned so smooth in places? How Neil ran his fingers gently against the transition between old and new skin? If he rubs at them when he’s worried? How Andrew runs his hands over that skin?

How a WEEK after getting those injuries they started to scab over? And how nosy “I’m going to pull back your bandages” Andrew probably picked them off Neil’s skin so the scars healed weird?

How the burn specifically on Neil’s face would have flaked and peeled? Do you think Andrew bought him lotion for his skin because it cracked and bled during the healing process?

Idk. I just. Them. Also thinking about Neil as my own (surgical) scars heal.

Well. Pride Month is over. You know what that means.

More random old doodles. Can't remember if I posted this here before.

I realised lately that I tend to stagnate a lot in my character designs, giving them all very symmetrical and youthful faces with one or two wrinkles. I hope I can work on that.

Obviously, the facial differences here aren't necessarily realistic, much like the way the old people look. I just doodled what came to mind.

When you say your Sun and Moons are AFAB, does that mean they were mistaken for female at birth or that they’re bio-female? And if they are bio-female, have they had any gender affirming surgeries or plan to? (Or do anything else like take testosterone or wear binders, etc? Sorry if this is a weird question)

I would say best way to describe their human forms is intersex

As a child Sun was assigned female

Assigned gender at birth doesn’t really apply to Moon lol but I’d say he was identified as a boy when he first made contact with humans

I do kinda wanna leave it up to the reader whether both or one of them have done any gender reaffirming procedures, though for the way I’ve been drawing them, I’d say their human forms underwent a male puberty (hmmm maybe I should do a top surgery scar version)

I may get more into the nitty gritty in how all that made Sun feel in the fic, but I guess we’ll see

All this talk about fics being inspired by other fics lately is funny to me because Philosophy was actually influenced by a fic called Scar Tissue on ffnet. I read it at my wife's recommendation after I finished rewatching ygo a few years back and I got mad that it was never finished and hadn't updated in a decade, and then got thinking about what might lead up to the events of the fic. Scar Tissue plays it pretty straight in that Ryou was always fucked up but hid it very well, and then after Bakura wins and revives Zorc, he goes apeshit, and it kind of got me thinking, "what would it take for Ryou to have gotten to this point on his own? What if Bakura hadn't been influencing him, too?" and decided I wanted to explore the idea more with a different focus on different things.

The fics are like, night and day different, though I did throw in a couple references to the fic here and there seeing as Philosophy wouldn't have happened without it, and like, I dunno, it just makes me laugh a bit that someone is jumping to call someone else's fic a ripoff of mine when mine was influenced by another fic in the first place. I think it's totally possible to make something your own while still being inspired by something else, and honestly, even if you read Scar Tissue you'd probably see the influence, but they're both very different experiences and very different stories being told. I think that's what makes fic so interesting though, because with the exception of straight up plagiarism, no two people are going to play out a similar idea in the same way.

Hell, even in Symphonia, I wrote a declining Tethe'alla AU, and I could read those until the end of time. I don't feel like anyone who has done it since Weltschmerz has 'copied me' or anything because I love the premise and I want to see how other people might pull it off differently than I did. I think the same can be said of anything really, as long as you're not like, ripping stuff or ideas word for word, I think taking inspiration from other things is actually a good thing, so long as you give credit where credit is due (if necessary of course).

So I'm finally watching the final season of The Boys

(either because I'm trying to become better educated in super media or a glutton for punishment - who knows)

and this content warning pops up on the screen before the episode called "Herogasm" (yeah, I spelled that right)

this is a show that regularly shows people naked and others inside out, right? what could they possibly depict that requires a content warning if the rest didn't?

here's the text, to make it easier to read:

"Some scenes may not be suitable for some, really most, let's be honest, all viewers. But rest assured that any consensual relationships depicted, be they human, animal, superhero, or other, aren't real, harmed no one, and in fact cost a hilariously large amount in visual effects."

then the super-orgy begins. it includes... well, no. no one needs to imagine any of those details

and I'm like, yeah, okay, now that warning makes sense. also this is worse than I imagined. help
