I can't help but find Faulkner's heart to heart with his dad a little funny Only and Specifically because of the part where Faulkner is like "Dad I killed Charlie." and his dad is like "No son I'm also to blame for Charlie's death because I left you boys alone."
No. No no, Mr. Faulkner's Dad, very sweet very kind but your son wasn't being, like, poetic. This wasn't a "We all failed to save Charlie" kind of killed him. This is the literal kind. No yeah this is the "Little Richard held Charlie's head under the water til the bubbles didn't come up no more" kind of fratricide. Yeah we looked it up and it's second-degree murder if not first-degree murder. Yeah sorry I know, easy mistake.

tsv was huge for casual trans rep and i'm not kidding like. yeah this guy is trans but more importantly he's a religious fanatic and a greek tragedy waiting to happen. yeah this girl is trans but more importantly she's the widow of wounds, doomed to repeat the cycle of violence she's trying to end. yeah this politician is non-binary but more importantly they're defined to their core by their deep, potent sense of loneliness. et cetera

working on a full lineup, but for now please enjoy my best worsties.
ID (copied from alt): Digital art of Faulkner and Carpenter from The Silt Verses. Faulkner is a young white man with clear green-blue eyes and long lashes. He has short golden curly hair and is clean shaven. His hands are clasped together in front of him, covered in mud and blood, and he looks serenely upwards with a small smile. He is dressed in a bulky green raincoat and thigh-high black waders. His boots and face are splattered with blood.
Carpenter is a middle-aged tall woman with olive skin and brown hair in a mullet that has some grey streaks. She has brown eyes and is leaning her wrists on the handle of a shovel stuck in the dirt. She has wiped away her bloody nose onto her hand and looks towards the viewer neutrally. She is wearing waist-high waders and a blue check shirt, all scuffed and spattered with mud. She has faded bruises around her eyes, on her neck, and on her left ring finger.
Both stand on a simple background of blue-green with the shadows of reeds and long grass behind them. /end ID

I present to you: The Whitegull River Symphony.
A classical symphony in four movements, inspired by @thesiltverses! The most recent episode swept me away in a river of creative inspiration, and I couldn't help but follow this stream to whatever murky depths it wanted to take me.
Creative thoughts and details beneath the cut.
The Whitegull River Symphony is written in f-Minor for a full symphonic orchestra. My rendition was created in FLStudio, using Spitfire's BBC-Symphonic-Orchestra plugin, as I am just one mediocre violinist without an entire orchestra at hand.
First Movement: River Angels, Allegro Assai
The first movement is dominated by the steady rhythm of the celli and violae, who act as the slow waves of our murky river. Among these waves, the faithful have prepared a sacrifice. Their hopeful prayers flick aross the water in the first half of the movement, and are answered by the scutteling, chittering spawn of the river in the second half.
Second Movement: Pilgrimage of the Prophet, Adagio
In the second movement, we focus entirely on our favorite little prophet (whose brilliant performance inspired me to make this. The existence of this symphony is your fault, @sassylich). He marches on through the silt with slow steps, while the clarinet plays his theme. His little schemes behind the scenes are played by the string section, the obvious warning signs are announced by the horns. Nevertheless: In the end, everyone is playing his tune.
Third Movement: The Withermark, Andante
And here we go, the river's might is unleashed. The angels of the river god approach unstoppably, drawn here by the prophet: His clarinet is setting the tune for the overwhelming wrath of the trawlerman. Nothing can stand in its way, but after the tides have calmed, new life can grow in their wake.
Fourth Movement: Katabasis, Allegro Assai
Katabasis, the descent into the depths. Nothing escapes the greedy maw of the Trawlerman, nobody can float above, untouched. All the instruments we've hear so far return, desceding into the roiling depths of the bassline. This is not a comforting or hopeful ending, this is an apocalypse.

She went back to the fucking gulch to tell him she loves him and he BETRAYED HER. She found him with the dead bodies at his feet and immediately moved to help him hide the evidence of what he'd done and he LIED and BETRAYED HER. She begged him as her BROTHER not to do this and he looked into her EYES and BETRAYED HER.

the silt verses is a very cool podcast for many reasons but also because your first impression of a character is true, but not the full story. faulkner is a sweet optimistic young man, but he's also a religious fanatic and a liar willing to betray and kill others for his own power and legacy. carpenter is a mean but strong old woman sick of everyone's shit, but she's also a character that deeply and fully cares about others and is allowed moments of weakness. shrue is a spineless bureaucrat that makes others do the dirty work on their behalf, but they're also someone with the anger and bitterness and social isolation needed to be easily radicalized.
gives the characters a really genuine sort of three dimensionality to them, that nothing is actually fully a facade, just an aspect of them that they want others to see. the best lies have a fraction of the truth in them etc etc

GOD-TOUCHED (GOD-SCARRED)
got to thinking about the ways that gods in The Silt Verses leave their marks on their devotees. then got to thinking about the scars that Faulkner got from the Trawler-Man's angel, and the gender-affirming care he got as a result of joining the Parish of Tide and Flesh, and i decided to fill his top surgery scars with limpets.
and then i was thinking about Paige as a trans woman giving birth to a deity that is trying to burst violently out of her, and how the Wound Tree is acting upon her body in a way that is not self-affirming, but which is now part of her regardless, and i decided to give her a c-section scar full of thorns and crocuses.
much to think about.
detailed image descriptions under the cut (copied from alt)
1: A digital drawing of Faulkner's topless torso. His top surgery scars are filled with limpets and barnacles, and the scar tissue has turned a sickly lichen colour. His nipples have become misshapen from the changes. There is a similar slashing scar running diagonally from his right (viewer's left) hip up to his clavicle. Faulkner is drawn thin and pale-skinned, spotted with acne, and the hair under his armpits and on his stomach is blond. From the light, looks to be under dark water.
2: A digital drawing of Paige's midsection. She has her left (viewer's right) hand to her stomach, over her naval and the C-section scar that starts there in an inverted T shape. Below the scar, there are dense white crocus flowers gathered, protruding and budding from under her skin. The skin of her hand is turning to bark and has black thorns protruding from it, and this is also happening around the scar, blending into her stretch marks. Paige is drawn as a mid-sized woman with medium brown skin, and is wearing a black bra. A tree's canopy is casting leafy shadows over her body.
