Hot take.

I hate season 2 of School Bus Graveyard.

Like it’s interesting and I understand why they went towards that direction in the story buts it’s just confusing to me. I miss when the characters just had each other in the phantom realm and they actually were in the school bus graveyard. I liked it when it was silly traumatized teens trying their best to live and learning about the phantom’s weaknesses. But eventually the characters had to actually learn about how the phantom realm works due to them being in there for so long, then it’ll become repetitive and uninteresting so the hospital plot makes sense to have in the story but I just don’t like it, especially with the parents there.

I feel like she'd be really into small indie horror games. Things like Omori and Dead Plate. She'd probably play them at 2 in the morning, can of coke in hand and with the blankest expression known to man. She would definitely always have the volume off though.

A rottmnt kid if I've ever seen one. He found himself really liking Leo during his first watch which lead to him developing an obsession with characters played by Ben Schwartz. Dewey Duck? He loves him! Sonic? He has pictures of him on his walls! Ben is considering warning Ashlyn about it before she and Aiden start dating.

He's sooo underrated 🫶. Anyways, I'm not sure how canon it is, but I remember hearing that Ben has every episode of the first season of Danny Phantom memorized which I think is awesome. He'd be the type to really enjoy consuming fan content like fan animations and fan songs. His dad nicknamed him Ben 10 because of how similar the audience for both shows are.

100% an Animal Crossing fan FIGHT ME. Specifically New Horizons. He'd probably spend a long time decorating his island with flowers and other pretty things. In true sibling fashion, he made Ashlyn play with him. She spent a lot of time hitting the various villagers, but they had a good time. I can also see him having a Danganronpa phase at some point in his life, but eventually growing out of it.

DEFINITELY a pjo kid. He secretly(he told Taylor that they were dumb) took those "which cabin are you?" quizzes underneath his blanket in the middle of the night. Much to his frustration, no matter how many times he repeated the dam thing, he NEVER got Poseidon and instead got every god other than him. He would've kept going until he got him if Taylor hadn't woken up and yelled at him to go to sleep.

Taylor's FIRMLY on #TeamIronMan and will argue with Tyler(he's secretly on Tony's side too, but he likes to say he's Team Cap' to piss her off) about it. sbg headcanons pt. 2!!

- aiden steals traffic cones, he has several in his room (tyler got stuck in one of those big round ones, tripped and almost rolled into traffic if it hadnt been for logan who threw himself in front of it. taylor was also in one and wanted a pic for her social media so she convinced tyler to put one on too, thats how it happened 😭)

- ben is the type to trade shirts if the girls are feeling uncomfortable, just imagine taylor in bens baggy ass shirt and ben is wearing some cute little crop top lmaooo hes to sweet

- tyler the type to sit in the weirdest places, perfectly good chair?? nah he’s sitting precariously on an open windowsill (yes he did fall out of it once and it was actually aiden who jumped out after him because he was closest)

- when ash was little she would bring home all kinds of animals, her parents would have to search her pockets everytime she came back in from outside and they’d find all kinds of frogs, harmless snakes, bugs, baby birds (she has raised several birds)

- aiden will not move until he’s chosen music for the drive, he once stepped on a nail but refused to drive to the hospital until his bluetooth connected in the car and everyone was yelling at him

- building onto the bird thing and ashlyn, she’s befriended a murder of crows and has a ton of weird little trinkets theyve brought her because she feeds them in return

- ben has a diary/journal he religiously writes in purely with glitter gel pen. there are horrors beyond comprehension and he’s writing them all down in pink sparkly pen (ex. 🎀 𝒯𝓎𝓁𝑒𝓇 𝒾𝓈 𝒹𝑒𝒶𝒹 𝒶𝓃𝒹 𝐼 𝒻𝑒𝒶𝓇 𝐼 𝓂𝒶𝓎 𝒷𝑒 𝓃𝑒𝓍𝓉 🎀) LMAOO

- aiden on the other hand needs to invest in a journal because he has no filter, like much love aiden but unfortunately i dont want to hear in gross detail about what happened to you after you drank windex thinking it was gatorade

- logan’s guilty pleasure is watching minecraft videos before bed (its ldshadowlady)

- logan also owns a cat and im a firm believer in this, it’s a scottish fold and he would do anything for this cat

- girl scout cookie season comes around and Ben is SCOPING these girls out. he wants his damn cookies and hes gonna drag you everywhere w him to find them

- dont let Tyler in the kitchen alone, and its not because he lacks skill in cooking he is just so forgetful. he’s probably exploded several microwaves because he forgot to put water in w his ramen. he has so much on his plate already that he kinda gets lost in thought while in the kitchen and may burn food every once in awhile

More SBG theory time; no fast pass spoilers, potentially 2-for-1?

Theory 1: Phantom progression w/ death

Everyone knows the theory about the group turning into phantoms due to prolonged exposure to the phabtom realm, I'd just like to add the fact that dying would, without a doubt, speed that process up. I'd like to think that with everytime a character dies, a part of themselves gets lost to the phantom dimension meaning that they could end up turning much faster that they would have intitially.

I need my angsty fics where Aiden and Tyler show concerning signs like light sensitivity and more aggression.

Theory 2: Ashlyn's presence is a gift

While I do believe Ashlyn does have a role in why the group is in the phantom dimension, I don't think it was her who dragged them into the realm. I'm pretty sure that in season one Jasmine was talking about how all the kids should have been sucked into the rift and entered a comatose state. This means that the phantom realm has an effect on people no matter who they are, which could mean that if Jasmine had grabbed some other unsuspecting group they would have entered the rift.

That brings me to my theory that Ashlyn is the reason that the group has not entered a comatosed state after the rift, or turned into phantoms yet. While we know that the group is most likely infected, symptoms of turning into a phantom, that comatose state, has not been present. This could also be why Ashlyn's parents weren't dragged into the rift when she was born, but that might be reaching.

I just like the idea that Ashlyn is in fact not the reason they are stuck in the phantom dimension, but the reason that they are still alive and, for the most part, well. Because, if that is case, she is the reason why the group could break their cycle in the phantom dimension. Give me my fic where she realizes everything is not her fault, and my life will be yours /j

Mostly Outsider POV until the end

Context:

Essentially what happened is that Ashlyn's parents went missing when she was fourteen under mysterious circumstances and she's been searching for them since. She turned to magic and became Mage of the Tower when she was 15-16. She's been mostly isolated and only goes out to follow leads, which is why she's travelling with these merchants to Savannah. Aiden and Ben are returning from a three-year exploration expedition and stopping at Savannah to rest and this is where the three officially meet. Aiden met Ashlyn once when he was younger and he swears he recognizes her from somewhere but can't remember. Ashlyn doesn't know he's the crown prince but doesn't want him to recognize her because he's weird and she wants to stay undercover.

Smoke rose from the smoldering remains of a campfire, hardly visible in the dense foliage of the Forsyth Woodlands. 

Eleven figures lay around the dying fire, curled under blankets to guard from the frigid breeze of the night. A twelfth rested just within earshot, leaning back against a shadowed horse carriage. The horses themselves were tied to a nearby tree, feeding on some grass in the clearing.

Bingo.

Haik jumped down from his perch in the trees and landed in a silent crouch, sending his waiting companions a wicked grin as he straightened up. “Another batch of amateur merchants– their lookout couldn’t even stay awake!”

A young girl with olive skin and short, dark curly hair stood near a middle-aged man with scarred, pale skin and long brown hair, shadowed beneath the forestry as Haik approached. 

“Think robbin’ ‘em blind will be enough to teach ‘em a lesson?” Karine snickered with a matching grin of her own, revealing a golden tooth that glinted in the moonlight and contrasted the brilliant emerald of her eyes.

Haik tore his gaze away from her to check Sevan’s reaction but found his expression as impassive as ever, the only difference being the suspicious squint in his eyes. Haik clicked his tongue in irritation. “What now, you superstitious old man? This is the lucky break we’ve been waiting on for weeks now.”

He was tired of eating the same shitty meal his mother prepared, of the silent disgust in her eyes as she stared at the lout her brilliant boy had become. He wanted to drown in expensive alcohol and the cash earned from the stolen goods of idiotic merchants. He wanted to forget.

He tried to listen to Sevan most of the time because he was the seasoned bandit of their group and weathered the worst of the worst with scars to show for it but sometimes just being in his presence grated at Haik’s fraying patience, especially after weeks of dealing with his mother’s snide remarks.

“It’s nothing.” Sevan shook his head before he shot the teen an irritated look. “And don’t call me old, I’m barely thirty.”

“Tell that to the white streaks in your hair,” Karine snorted, unphased by the stony look she received in return as she raised an eyebrow. 

For a moment, Haik was sure Sevan was going to pound her into the ground, his hands twitching for the blade sheathed at his hip. Then the man exhaled sharply and focused his gaze back on Haik.

“What’s the situation?”

Haik straightened on instinct but forced himself to relax. Something about the way Sevan spoke reminded him far too much of his short-lived career as a knight sometimes. “Eleven merchants and a lookout, all unarmed by the looks of it. The horse carriage looked pretty expensive and the horses were in good shape– we’d get some good money if we sold those things to Mirza.”

Sevan remained silent for a moment, tension building as Haik and Karine awaited his decision and subsequent order. “Let’s move.”

They took off silently, sticking to the shadows as they approached the clearing where the merchants laid camp. They observed it for a few minutes before deeming it safe to approach, sneaking past the sleeping lookout.

It was a young woman with long ginger hair hidden beneath the hood of a dark green cloak, with freckles littered across her face. Her eyes were closed and her breathing was soft and rhythmic– she really was asleep. 

It was a pity the merchants chose an idiot to keep watch of their goods.

Well. A pity for them. Haik was having the best night in weeks.

The carriage was filled to the brim with expensive goods. Jewelry, books, weapons, grimoires. Karine went for the jewelry, vain as always. Sevan headed for the weapons, examining them all with a discerning eye and leaving Haik to deal with the books. 

There was nothing special about most of the books, spanning from scientific research to the latest romance novella trending in Savannah. The grimoires, however, were what peaked his interest. He’d never seen one in person, only heard about them in the context of the Imperial Magicians or ever elusive mage of the Tower.

Grimoires were rare and expensive and if he could sell even just one, let alone numerous, he would be set for years. He could get his own place far away from his mother, from Savannah, from the cursed nation as a whole–

“I advise you not to touch that.”

Haik stiffen at the unfamiliar voice, outstretched hand frozen just inches away from the pile of grimoires as he noticed the presence that hadn’t been there just a moment before. 

He leapt away, drawing his sword in one swift motion. His companions were similarly prepared, chosen weapons drawn and facing the threat.

It was the lookout from earlier.

Karine bared her teeth in an ugly smile, golden tooth glinting menacingly as she stared the woman down. “You got a death wish or something, lady?”

The woman only raised her eyebrows in response, her body loose and unguarded without a hint of the apprehension one would expect to see when faced with three bandits with drawn weapons while unarmed.

Something about the situation didn’t sit right with him.

The lookout brushed off Karine’s threat as if it was nothing. “I don’t like repeating myself so I’m only warning you once.” Viridian eyes bored into Haik’s soul, leaving him feeling cold and clammy. “If you value your lives, you’ll leave immediately.”

“Who do you think you are, ordering us around?!” Karine snarled, swinging at the woman with her spiked mace. “You don’t even have a sword!”

Haik forced himself to move and join her, unable to shake the feeling that this was dangerous yet not wanting to leave his partner alone.

It was only then that he realized Sevan was nowhere to be seen. 

“I don’t need one,” the lookout answered coolly.

As if in slow motion, Haik saw a staff appear in the woman’s hands and her eyes began to shine with an unearthly glow and his mind connected the dots in an instant.

She was a mage.

Everything went dark a moment later.

As the sun rose, the sleeping travelers began to wake up to the smell of cooking lentil soup that she had started on the fire. 

Alina, the merchant’s wife, had taken the task off her hands when she had woken up and told Ashlyn to get some rest before they were back on the road. 

Exhausted and perhaps a little embarrassed of the fact that a group of amateur bandits had gotten the jump on her, Ashlyn agreed and escaped before the woman could ask if anything had happened the night before. 

If not for the protective wards placed on her grimoire, those stupid kids would’ve gotten away with it too. 

Well, two kids and a strange, scarred man who had somehow managed to evade her senses long enough to escape and abandon his fellow criminals. She’d contemplated pursuing him for that reason alone but figuring out what to do with the unconscious bandits had been more than enough for her sleep-addled mind.

She managed to catch an hour or so of sleep before she was shaken awake and they were back on the road to Savannah. Seeing her goal within sight made her forget about last night, annoyance replaced by grief that swelled in her chest at the thought of her parents. She didn’t think she could handle another dead end. Not again.

Then, the insufferable chatterbox by the name of Aiden decided to open his mouth at that moment.

“Nice going with the bandits last night,” he whispered cheerily and Ashlyn closed her eyes, biting back a long-suffering sigh before his words processed and her eyes flew open and stared at him in disbelief

There was a mischievous glint in his eyes as he grinned back; the picture of innocence. 

“You were awake?” Ashlyn demanded quietly.

“I wanted to see what you would do,” Aiden shrugged and his smile widened, crow's feet wrinkling near his eyes. “So imagine my surprise when I found out you were a mage. I knew I’ve met you before– you’re Ashlyn Banner, the mage of the Tower, aren't you?”

… Damn it.

This was very much inspired by a Merlin edit sound where he goes, "If you value your lives, you won't take another step." and the dudes are like "You don't even have a sword." and he's like "I don't need one" and demolishes them. I keep imagining this Ashlyn saying that so I had to write it and get it out of my system lol

Basic question but- Rank the main 6 sbg kids (based on Ur opinions of them)

That's a difficult question, lol, I don't think any of them are better than the other, but if we're basing it on my opinions, we can say "Favourite to least favourite"

Obligatory disclaimer that this is all opinions blah blah blah let's not argue here

1. Aiden

Basic answer to a basic question, lol. So far I think he is the one who was best developed in regards to his mental issues/personality. I think he's the one whose flaws are often the most high lighted, which is what I like in most characters (not that he's a bad person I guess, but just complicated, he seems more human like that)

2. Ashlyn

Same as above, I think her issues are the ones that are most highlighted and I think it's interesting to see somebody who doesn't like communicating be forced into a situation where they *have* to. Her dynamic with Aiden especially. Basically my two faces are my otp ._.

3. Logan

Unpopular opinion but I really liked him even in season 1; I felt like he was a very realistic approach to an actual person's reaction to the situation. I still like him but not as much in season 2, his backstory was very... idk, "why??" I guess LOL.

4. Tyler

I liked the implications of his character more than anything we really get to see in the story. I really like characters who are parentified/adultified from a young age and feel a lot of pressure to take care of people; I think this is smth very common in our culture (Tyler being Mexican and me being Venezuelan). Red doesn't really bring up the link between these two things very often (or even just the fact he's dis-passionate for his current hobby and has other dreams in the comic at all tho)

5. Ben

I really like his backstory and personality, but by virtue of being Red's least favourite we just don't see very much and I haven't felt any resolution from his character arc so far. I hope that changes soon tho!

5. Taylor

I would LOVE for her to be higher but I feel like Red underutilized her soooooo much. There's sooooo much potential with her character! Twin dynamics are fascinating especially when they are codependent! The hints we get, like Taylor feeling simultaneously held back by Tyler's overprotectiveness but also incapable of handling herself alone were delicious but like. We haven't seen any of that since the beginning of the season lol. I also think she's the one whose personality has been the least shown, I can't think of any major flaws she has which I think isn't the best sigh of character development

Hoping these get resolved ofc 🫰🏽
