Light Yagami, he was tall, smart, funny, and a total gentleman. At least that’s how he presented himself. He was most any girl’s ideal guy. I mean from his gentle laugh and kind eyes to his sweet gestures like bringing your favorite snack. How could you not fall for him? You’ve known the Yagami’s for years, and you never would have thought you’d actually fall for him. Your mom’s used to joke that you two would end up together, but you never took them seriously. Well, that was your mistake because before you realized it you were falling. You fell fast and hard. You started to notice things you never did before. You ended up pushing him away completely thinking it would help. It didn’t and then you found out about Misa. Lights girlfriend… His sister told you about her one day while you were over helping her with a project. You felt yourself break inside. Of course, Light didn’t feel the same. He deserves someone like Misa, beautiful and perfect in every way you weren’t.

“Hey Y/N. Long time no see” Light was just getting home. You couldn’t even find it in you to reply. You wanted to break down and cry just hearing his voice. Light having known you forever could tell something was wrong. “Hey Sayu, can I borrow Y/N for a while?” “Sure. I have plans with some friends anyways. Thanks for your help see you later Y/N!” And with that Sayu was out the door. “Y/N come. Let’s go to my room.” You reluctantly followed Light up to his room. Once inside you both sat in silence. You were looking anywhere but him and trying to stay calm. “Y/N look at me. Please.” You begrudgingly obliged to look at Light for the first time since he got home. “What’s wrong?” You stayed silent not sure you could speak without crying. Light came over and sat next to you on his bed. He took your hand in his and asked again, “What’s wrong”. That was the last straw you couldn’t stop the tears. “Sayu… she… she told me about Misa…I know I shouldn’t be upset I have no right to be jealous… but I am…because Light…I love you…” Light didn’t say anything at first but instead pulled you into a hug. “Y/N… I’ve waited so long to hear you say that.” Pulling back from the hug and wiping your tears you reply confused, “What do you mean? But Misa?” “Sayu was wrong, Misa is just some girl who is obsessed with me. The feelings are NOT reciprocated.” “Really?” “Yes, you’re the only one for me.” Before you could say more Light pulled you in for a kiss. It was better than you ever imagined. As you pulled away Light was quick to ask another question. “Is that why you stopped coming over and started avoiding me?” “…Yes… Sorry…” “Y/N, never do that again okay? I love you and ONLY you.” “I love you too.” You two decided to keep it just between you for a while (Lights idea of course, so he could use Misa though you didn’t know this). You were just happy to finally be together. If only you knew the whole truth and what was to come later.

Adventuring throughout Teyvat was extremely rewarding, yet exhausting. Lately it hadn't even been that rewarding, both you and Paimon were quite tired of searching each and every corner of Teyvat only to end up empty handed despite your best efforts... It was high time you took a small break from adventuring and had a relaxing vacation in the comfort of your Serenitea Pot!

You arrived swiftly inside and were greeted with the familiar sight of your house and all the things you had placed outside to make the place more homely! Your eyes roamed through it all as a proud smile rested on your lips. Soon your attention was caught by a particular quest of yours that stood under the shade of a tree, she stood there with some finches happily chirping by her side - one of them even settled on her head! With a smile you approached Qiqi, careful to not startle her or her bird friends.

“Hello, Qiqi!” You greeted her with Paimon following your example and doing the same.

“Hello, Traveler and Paimon...” She slowly greeted back.

Only after looking up did you notice you weren't alone, as Sayu was laying on one of the braches deep in sleep without a care in the world - though you couldn't help, but worry that she would fall down! But hearing the front door to your mansion open your attention was brought elsewhere as you turned around to see Yaoyao along with Diona rushing out with their hands filled with snacks and drinks.

“Hi, Traveler!” Yaoyao greeted you with a big smile.

“I'm sure she didn't ignore you on purpose.” You poked her side playfully.

“Hey! Paimon's here too you know!” Paimon crossed her arms, clearly offended.

“Hey! Do you plan on just standing there or are you going to help? My hands are full you know!” Diona huffed.

You quickly acted and took half of the drinks from her into your own hands - even for a bartender it was too many drinks for one person to carry, you weren't sure how she managed to carry them this far by herself! Diona let out a sigh of relief when freed from half of the glasses before greeting you like the others had previously.

“So are you guys having a picnic or what?” Paimon asked curiously.

“Yes we are! We were planning to just have a snack together, but then the others asked for some too!” Yaoyao explained.

“Others?” You and Paimon asked in unison.

“Oh, they haven't returned yet.” Yaoyao started to look around for someone.

“Klee went to look for a picnic blanket and Nahida said she'd clean up the kitchen before joining us.” Diona explained.

“I should go help her clean up!” Yaoyao offered.

“It's okay, I'll go help her.” You interjected.

“Then I'll go help Klee!” She smiled.

“You really can't sit still.” Paimon joked.

The three of you entered the mansion, but split up as Yaoyao went to seek out Klee and you headed for the kitchen with Paimon. There you found a very puzzled looking Nahida as she stared at the dirty dishes and left over materials that Diona and Yaoyao didn't yet put away.

“Hi, Nahida! Need some help?” You broke her train of thought.

“Traveler! It's been a while, how have you been?” She excitedly approached you.

“Just fine! Paimon and I decided to take a vacation for a while and came to help you clean up!” You explained.

“Oh, I see... I'm sorry Traveler, I haven't washed dishes before and I didn't want to mess up.” She slumped her shoulders.

“It's okay Nahida, Paimon doesn't know how either!” Paimon proudly declared.

“Right! We're happy to help.” You pat her head gently in reassurance.

With a nod of understanding from the young Archon you asked her to take care of putting things away while you would do the dishes; Paimon opted to help out Nahida instead of helping you wash the dirty things Diona and Yaoyao had used to prepare the feast you would soon be joining.

Time flew by as you caught up with Nahida; telling her about your recent adventures, in turn you asked her how she and Sumeru were doing lately. Doing the dishes might not be your favourite chore to do, but with good company it was akin to relaxing. Soon enough the kitchen was as good as new and the three of you were able to finally join the others outside!

“Miss Honorary Knight and Paimon!” Klee shouted as she ran towards you full speed.

You were barely able to react and catch her when she jumped into your arms, tightly holding onto you. Despite her young age and small size she hugged you with incredible strength! You hugged her back while trying your best to not pass out due to lack of air getting into your lungs.

“Uh, Klee? Paimon thinks you're suffocating her!” Paimon stated in worry.

“Oh - sorry!” She giggled and relented her grip.

“It's okay. Hello to you too Klee!” You greeted her while gasping for air.

“Can we get to it already?” Diona sighed.

“Yeah! Paimon wants to eat already!” Paimon begged.

“Okay, okay! Let's start with the blanket.” You calmly put down Klee before picking up said blanket.

Klee, Yaoyao and Diona were quick to come to your aid, each of them picked a corner of the blacket and helped you spread it out evenly on the grass. Everyone helped place the drinks and food on the blacket before sitting down together to enjoy - well everyone except you.

“Sayu! Sayu come down for some snacks!” You shouted gently to not startle her or hurt Diona's sensitive ears.

The little ninja stirred awake and yawned loudly while stretching, she skilfully and quickly got down from the tree while still quite sleepy. She rolled over right next to you with her head soon falling against your arm, poor thing was still waking up and could barely hold her own head up. You didn't mind in the slightest and tried your best to stay as still as you could to not disturb her if she wanted to continue sleeping.

After eating you all decided to play some hide and seek to release all the energy the little one's got from the sugary drinks and food! Paimon opted not to join the game and istead stayed to eat any left overs she could, she truly had an abnormal appetite... Some activity like this wouldn't be bad for her at all, but you didn't wish to force her to join against her will.

You were chosen to be the first seeker while everyone else hid, you were looking forward to their hiding spots! You had designed the teapot yourself which gave you an advantage over them, but you were certain that some like Sayu would make it quite a challenge for you. Soon you reached the count of thirty and the hunt began!

You only had to turn around to see Nahida peeking at you from behind a tree not too far away... You wanted to leave her be so she wouldn't lose so quickly on the first round, but it wouldn't be fair to the others to do so. With a heavy heart you approached her and told her to come out from hiding.

“I've never played this game before.” She laughed awkwardly.

“Don't worry, I'm sure you'll do better bext time!” You encouraged her.

She nodded and ran back to the picnic blanket to wait for the game to end. Your next target wasn't even hiding as Qiqi stood on the porch right next to Tubby looking starstruck. You probably should have expected that she might get distracted or even forget about the game all together, but like before you approached her and told her to go join Nahida.

This time it took you a bit longer to find someone, though you couldn't help but chuckle when you spotted a pair of cat ears peeking ever so slightly from a bush. Diona was disappointed from not winning, but she cheered up a bit after hearing she wasn't the first one to be found.

Once again it took you some time before you were able to find Klee, she was hiding behind a large structure and thus you were unable to see her before you went behind it - which you didn't think to do before since you wanted to check the obvious spots first; just in case!

Now the only one left was unsurprisingly, Sayu. You were expecting this of course, she is a ninja after all! It felt like you were looking for her forever... You had looked everywhere twice, every stone and tree - you just couldn't find her! You were ready to give up until you heard something, the sound of soft snoring that was coming from above - from the roof!

After an arduous clim you were able to safely retrieve the sleeping Sayu and bring her down from the roof to join the others... Seeing how exhausted everyone were after eating and playing you decided to take a nap power together.

Sayu was sleeping next to you already and despite how much energy Klee had, she was able to calm down enough to crawl next to you as well. Diona was happy enough near your feet where she could have her own space and Nahida was on the other side looking the most exited about the idea of dreaming. Yaoyao and Qiqi were on your left together and Paimon was on your right, next to Sayu.

You closed your eyes as the sun began setting in the distance making everything glow warm yellow, the air was warm with a gentle and cool wind brushing over you occasionally. The soft snores didn't bother you in the slightest with how relaxed and at peace you felt... You wished moments like these would last forever.

Whenever she's sent to solitary confinement, you go in with her even if she protests

She blames herself whenever you get in trouble with Master Jean on her behalf, but you just chuckle and tell her there's nothing to worry about

Albedo is very thankful that you watch over her while he's busy

He's able to get work done without worrying about Klee blowing things up... Well sort of

You go fishing with her and that's how you end up getting in trouble most of the time

People call you the sibling chaos duo

She always holds your hand no matter where you guys are

When she cries, you comfort her by telling her stories or coloring with her

When you cry, she makes you drawings and picks flowers as well as patting your head

She loves telling you all about Dodoco and her mom

When you travel to other nations, Klee misses you dearly

She loves any gift you make for her and will hang it on the wall of her tavern

She always enjoys your tales of adventuring

Whenever you find a good secluded spot, you two stretch and just talk to each other

When people see you two together, they find it odd that you out of all people would be able to befriend the little zombie

Qiqi tries her best to tell you memorable stories but often forgets the ending or important parts to it

She gets sad when she can't remember a story for you but you cheer her up by creating your own endings or details

Qiqi genuinely laughs with you around and doesn't always have a flat face

When you catch her crying, she immediately hugs you telling you about how she doesn't like feeling this and you let her cry it out while cuddling her and teaching her breathing techniques

When she catches you crying, she's unsure what to do and gets Baizhu to help comfort you but if he's not around she offers you some snacks and hugs

Whenever you go adventuring to a new nation she gets really upset

Every time you mention it she runs away but comes back after a day and wishes you good luck

She sends you photos of her adventures while you're not around and you giggle all the time when you look at them

YaoYao cares for you so much and tries to protect you despite her age or stature

She loves taking care of you as if she were the older sibling

You often help her with her things when she has things to work on and such

Madame Ping loves that you have befriended her apprentice since YaoYao hasn't had many friends and seems so stuck on acting like an adult

YaoYao sometimes treats you as if you were younger but you don't mind since you get back at her and she doesn't mind

You often take her places and trust her the most when you adventure around Liyue with her

She loves telling you about all the things she's learning under Madame Ping as well as from you

YaoYao loves to take you to her safe spaces that are secret when she isn't feeling to good and just needs a break from people

You both often play around and climb trees together as well as joke a bit

When you catch her crying, its sort of rare since she never shares her true feelings with you but when she does you embrace her and reasure her that it is okay to cry and have the feelings she is having

When she catches you crying, YaoYao tries her best to make you feel better by letting you hold Yuegui and making you your favorite snack

When you go adventuring to another nation, she worried about you so much

After she checks you for any injuries and such she takes you to the special spots you two have reserved for hanging out

Even when you do most of the work, you just want Sayu to be well rested

Whenever she is upset about not being tall or the sleeping isn't making her taller, you take her on your shoulders and sort of help her feel better

You take her on sibling lunch dates and make sure she doesn't force herself to eat everything and tell her to set limits

You encourage her to do her own work when she brings you on missions bit by bit

Her caregiver is so grateful to you because she can finally take a break and not really worry about Sayu as much

You caught her attention and always made sure to make herself present in your dreams

Once you saw her in person you connected the dots really quickly and she became one of the quickest best friends you have ever made

She loves teaching you new things and spends a lot of time with you in the forests or in the main areas of Sumeru taking you to a bunch of best food places

People are shocked to see you treat her as a sibling but they don't question it since they don't want to offend their god

She loves hearing all the knowledge you've obtained from traveling all over Tevat

She likes coming up with funny analogies with you and seeing you giggle with her

She loves introducing you to things she's interested in and helping her research topic

Nahida found it funny how you and Scaramouch/Wanderer met again after the fight

(Synopsis: Even her most sincere prayers would do nothing to soothe the repetitive strumming of the ancient artifact - located in the middle of the island - to a halt.)

It was an average day for Kujou Sara; both the shrines, the gateway to the island, and the front porch of the lookalike building of Tenshukaku were as clean as ever, thanks to her.

Her Eternal Excellency must've finished long before her, she'd think. After all, all she had to do was clean a stage and dust a few chairs and tables.

Her peaceful and quiet session of prayers of thankfulness towards her Grace ended up interrupted as a sudden gust of a wind passed by.

Suspicious of the sudden presence of wind and possible intruder, she turned her head to the sound, only to see a trail of leaves leading to the next island.

She grimaces at the mess, but figured she'd clean it up later.

That is, if the ancient lyre in the middle of the island would stop strumming.

... Wait...

... The ancient lyre was strumming?

The sudden turn of her head could even rival the strike of a thunder bolt.

A child, one that was around to her upper extremity, just below her upper abdomen, was recklessly playing with the artifact as if it was just a normal instrument.

Didn't it know that carelessly touching, much less tampering, would be disrespectful and that it could face severe punishment without the explicit permission of her Grace?

She shook her head no. Her Grace would specifically tell any of their acolytes that decided to enter their personal domain to never be aggressive nor directly interact with them and stay in place unless the visitor themselves comes up to them.

And from there, they had the option to say anything, minus threatening and asking for information regarding them and the visitor themselves.

But despite the limitations her Grace placed on them, she still couldn't focus on her prayers because that child couldn't stop playing with the damn instrume-

"Hm? Wait- Is that Sara? It's Sara! Sara!! Kujou Sara!!"

She heard the footsteps of the child nearing, as well as its voice.

"Yooo, it's Kujou Sara!!"

She heard it coo over her, calling her name over and over. She could only hope that the child would grow tired quickly and leave her alone.

"Hey, Saraaa, look at me! Look at meee!"

Her eyebrows furrow. Great, now it wants her attention. She was never really great with kids, if ever. So, getting stuck between her Grace's orders, her inability to interact with children and the kid asking for attention was utterly out of her expertise. As much as she hated to say that.

"Lookie meeee! Look at meeeeeee!!"

With a quiet, defeated sigh, she turned her head to the child. Wait... Wasn't this that tanuki that hid behind her wings before? Sayu, was it?

Well, technically, the child was already under her Grace's wing(haha get it) but this was... Certainly a sight to see, especially after their first meeting.

Nevertheless, seeing the chi- ahem. Sayu happy brought a small smile on her own face.

Sayu was giggling that she finally noticed her, jumping up and down in excitement.

Ofcourse, and unfortunately, the moment was short-lived and Sayu quickly said her goodbyes to her, rolling away in a ball of wind and slightly ruining the path along her way.

She sighed in slight annoyance, but as long as the child was happy, she guessed that she would be happy as well for the time being.

Bonus:

Not a few moments later, the child came rolling back carrying a coral crystalfly and a shiny looking slice of pineapple in her arms, saying a quick goodbye and rolling away once more, presumably to the island connected to the one she was on.

Another sigh escapes her lips, a small smile brushing her face as she watched the child roll through the messy, building-filled space.

She was glad she wasn't in charge of maintaining cleanliness on that island.

Gotta Ask- Mayzuke oneshot

Summary: Mayday spends weeks planning a special date with Zuke. The question is- What's the occasion?

"Remember Zuke! It's in two weeks!" 

"Yeah, Friday, right?"

Mayday nodded with a big smile on her face as Zuke checked the calendar, specifically the day Mayday circled in red and drew a smiley on. It didn't say anything other than "6pm".

"Sooo are you gonna tell me what we're doing that day, or…?" 

Mayday pressed her index finger on his lips, subsequently shushing him. 

She shook her head, still smiling.

"Nope! It's a surprise!"

...

Zuke had no idea what to expect. Anytime Mayday had a "surprise", she meant it. They've been together for years and somehow she still found new ways to catch him off guard. In a good way, usually. It was one of the things he loved about her, honestly.

He liked to think he was a patient man, but this "surprise" did have him a bit on edge. Not because he was afraid for himself, or because he didn't trust May, it was just… he wasn't sure.

May had been acting weird lately. It was almost like she was worried about this thing she planned more than he was. She was determined not to let him know anything. 

Zuke lost track of how many times he walked in while she was on the phone with someone, only for her to abruptly end the call as soon as she noticed him. Or for her to hide something from his line of sight just before he could make out what it was.

She was away from home more often than not, coming home late at night, leaving early in the morning.

Yes, morning. Mayday. Waking up and leaving the house at 5am. Willingly.

Zuke didn't even know that was possible. Before this, she always woke up at, like, 11am. Mayday wasn't a morning person. 

Until now, apparently.

It was starting to freak him out a bit. 

It was worrying to see her so.. Stressed. 

To see her stressing herself out, and absolutely forbidding Zuke to help out. Even a little bit.

Once again, he was home alone. Well, maybe not entirely alone, Ellie was there, after all. But he was still worried.

The alligator was laying her head on his lap, the both of them on the couch. 

He scratched Ellie's scaly head, earning a purring-like sound from the happy reptile. 

"May's been out a lot lately, huh? Wonder what she's doing."

He spoke to the alligator, which only huffed in reply, clearly not caring about anything that wasn't related to being petted at the moment. 

He was pulled from his thoughts as he heard the familiar sound of Mayday's phone ringing and buzzing.

What the-? She… left it here? She must have forgotten it.

He gently pushed Ellie away, the alligator made her displeasure known with various loud huffs.

"Yeah yeah, I know Ellie, but I gotta get up. Sorry girl." He murmured sweetly. Ellie already lost interest and retreated to her room in the sewer.

 Zuke stood up and stretched, multiple joints popping from not having moved in a while.

He followed the sound of Mayday's ringtone to the kitchen, finding it resting on the counter. She probably forgot it when she ran out in a hurry that morning.

He thought about just letting it ring, as it probably wasn't his business, until he saw who was calling.

The contact read "DK West".

He couldn't help but tense up at that.

West? 

West?? 

Why was his brother calling Mayday of all people?? 

Sure, he and his bro were on better terms now, and Mayday got along a little bit with him, but as far as he was aware, the two rarely talked. Especially when he wasn't there.

The phone stopped ringing, timed out at the lack of response. 

Ok. Sure. West calling May was a bit weird, but it was probably nothing too important.

Zuke shrugged.

Just as he turned away to walk back to the couch, the phone rang again.

Once again, it was West.

Okay. Now he had to know what was going on. 

Zuke picked up May's phone, tapping the green icon to answer and holding it to his ear.

"Iah! Missy! Where you been? Why you no answer my texts, eh? You still want the-" 

"West?" Zuke interjected a little too quickly. 

There was a gasp on the other side.

"Z-Zukey! Brotha! What eh.. Why do you have little Missy's phone?" West sounded nervous, clearly caught off guard by Zuke answering the phone.

"She left it here at home. Why?" Did West know where May was running off to?

"O-Oh! Don't worry about that! It's nothing. Later Zukey!" 

"Wait, West-!"

*click*

"Aaaannd, he hung up. Great."

Zuke was a little tempted to check May's texts to see what West was referring to, but decided that would be too much of a breach of privacy. Not to mention, she recently changed her phone's password lock, so even if he wanted to, he couldn't.

He sighed.

Guess he just had to wait until May came home.

…

Zuke stirred awake from his nap as a familiar scraping noise reached his ears. He sat up on the couch, realizing he dozed off while watching TV. He could hear the manhole cover above him being opened and closed, and he heard someone coming down the ladder.

Looking behind him, sure enough, it was May. He glanced at the clock, 9:00 p.m. at least she was home earlier this time.

"Hey May."

She jolted when she heard her partner's voice call her name, but quickly recovered.

He couldn't help but feel a pain in his heart seeing her be startled by him. 

"Hey there Zuke! Just a sec!"

She bolted past him, closing the door to their shared bedroom behind her. Zuke tapped his foot patiently.

A few minutes later, she emerged, dressed in comfy clothes.

She plopped down on the couch next to Zuke. A tired huff escaping her lips.

Seeing her up close, Zuke's chest tightened at her condition.

Bags under her eyes, red face, like she'd been running outside all day. Her hair was barely held up in its usual braids and ponytails, the majority of her golden locks sticking out every which way.

Zuke gently put a hand on her shoulder, she gazed at him with tired, half-lidded eyes.

"May… please. I know you're putting your all into… whatever. But try to slow down a bit, okay? You're running yourself ragged."

He pleaded gently, wrapping his arms around her.

She yawned.

"M'fine Zuke.. 'S all done.." She mumbled into his neck. "Mmm… sleepy.." She murmured almost inaudibly as she started drifting off. 

Zuke let her stay there. He gathered her in his arms, and laid back with her on the couch. She snuggled into him, laying her head on his chest. It didn't take long for her to start snoring. 

He rubbed her back. He had so many questions, but.. He'd wait for her. She clearly needed this.

…

As the days went by, May seemed… anxious, to say the least. But she still wouldn't tell Zuke anything.

Just two more days.

…

The days came and went. The day Mayday had planned was here.

To start, she dressed up a bit more than usual. Not super fancy, but still a little more formal than her usual style.

Zuke couldn't lie, she looked lovely.

She wore a red dress that reached just above her knees, a black leather jacket, and sneakers. Because she'd "rather die than wear heels". As she's said in the past.

He also noted that she had her guitar at the ready. The one Tatiana gave her. He brought his drumsticks just in case.

Seeing May dressed up made Zuke feel the need to do so as well. It was hard to decide what to wear since he still didn't know where they were going, but he tried anyway.

He settled on wearing a button up shirt, a black jacket, and wore his nicer pair of black pants and shoes. 

May led him to the Ellicopter pad. They both got in the vehicle, and May cheerily yelled out to Ellie. 

"Okay girl! You know where to go!"

The blades of the copter whirred to life, and they lifted off the ground, flying over the beautiful neon lights of Vinyl City.

Zuke watched the ground below. Still wondering where they were going.

They flew a bit outside of town, and he noticed that they were approaching the beach. The evening Sky lit up in Hues of pink and orange and dark blue. The scene before them became more clear as they got closer.

It looked like a venue of sorts. 

Soon they landed a bit away from the scene, but it didn't take long to walk towards it. Stepping onto the beach, he could finally get a good look at everything.

To put it simply, he was in awe.

Tables set up with decorated candles, string lights hanging along the palm trees, a show stage with spotlights was set up, ready to use. There were little food carts and grills off to the side, emitting quite frankly delicious Aromas.

Strewn about the scene where statuettes that he usually recognized were made by Eve. Many of them had a sort of ocean and heart theme. 

There were quite a few people here as well. But he realized that the majority of them were people he and May knew.

Yinu and her mother were on the stage, piano at the ready. Eve was seated by Tatiana at a table, she appeared to be sketching something or other while they talked. Sayu's team were chatting by the food carts.

And, to his surprise, even West was there.

Speaking of, his brother quickly noticed them, and yelled out to gain the attention of everyone at the gathering. 

He bounded up to the two of them, while the others seemed to scatter to do various tasks.

"Ewah! Zuke! Missy!" He slung an arm around each of them. "Glad to finally have you two here! So, Zuke, what do you think?"

Zuke paused, still amazed at the sight before him.

"This is… amazing." He breathed.

West beamed.

"Well you have the little missy here to thank for it. Was her idea, after all."

He let go of the two, allowing them to focus on one another.

"May.. Is this what you were working on?" She smiled and nodded.

"I had help, but yeah!"

Her orange skin seemed to glow under the string lights and her pink eyes beamed at him, elated.

"There's more, but first, let's grab some grub!" She cheered, grasping his wrist and pulling him towards the various foods available. After they both got a plate of food, they sat across from each other at a table to eat.

"Mayday, this is… thank you so much, but what's the occasion? You went all out on this."

She averted her gaze, red dusting her cheeks. "I'll explain later. Promise." 

Zuke nodded.

They spent some time eating, but it didn't take long for Yinu to start playing songs on her piano. Music elevating the mood even more, May stood and walked around the table, until she was within arms reach of Zuke.

She extended a hand to him.

"At the risk of sounding super cheesy, wanna dance with me?"

Zuke couldn't help but laugh a bit, but he took her hand nonetheless.

"Sure, if you promise not to throw me into a table again." 

May responded by swiftly elbowing him in the side and pouting as she responded with "Hey! That only happened once!" Which only made him chuckle at her antics.

He put one hand on her shoulder, and held the other. May used her free hand to hold his waist. 

He followed her lead as they stepped in various directions, she spun him every now and then.

He looked around and saw a few others dancing too. Nadia was doing one of her graceful interpretative dances to the piano tunes. West appeared to be trying to join her, and failing, much to Zuke's amusement. (Yeah, they were on good terms, but that doesn't mean that he couldn't laugh at West embarrassing himself. Besides, West should know that flirting with Nadia wasn't going to work.) 

He snorted when Nadia elegantly spun and kicked West resulting in him falling on his ass. 

May raised a brow at him, "What are you laughing at?" She quizzed. 

Zuke leaned in to whisper into her ear, "Turn around." He chuckled. 

May, curious, guided their dance until they swapped places. Now able to see what Zuke had been. 

She snickered when she saw DK West attempting to imitate Eve's movements, her ears perked up when Zuke whispered again. "Wait for it.." He murmured.

She kept her eyes on DK and Eve, after noticing Eve getting progressively more annoyed at DK's antics.

Eve glared intently at DK as he continued to (poorly) copy her.

Then suddenly, she swept his leg and he fell with a loud -THUMP- and she sauntered off. 

May howled in laughter. She buried her face into Zuke's chest to muffle the sound of her laughing and occasionally snorting. He could feel the vibrations of her laughter reverberate through his chest. Like her joy was being poured into him.

Eventually she freed herself from Zuke's torso. 

They put their foreheads together, smiling softly as their eyes met. Their dance slowed as the rhythm of Yinu's song slowed.

Now that they were moving at a more leisurely pace, Zuke focused on Mayday.

Her eyes were closed, temporarily concealing her pink flower-like pupils. The string lights above and around them gently bathed her in a warm glow. 

Then she opened her eyes, her beautiful, warm eyes, and smiled. 

1010 was right, her smile truly was radiant, and could leave almost anyone stifled. 

"I can't believe we're actually doing this." May laughed.

Zuke, too, started chuckling. "I know. Never thought you'd be the type to take me slow dancing."

Mayday spun him, then they returned to their previous dance. "Yeah, well, it's a special occasion." She playfully shrugged.

Zuke raised a brow at this, a smile plastered on his face. "Still building up the suspense, huh?" 

Suddenly, she yanked him at an angle, and before he knew it, she dipped him. 

Her face so close to his, her arm keeping him from falling, hell, the smirk and the mischievous look in her eyes, all made Zuke flush. His face a deep shade of blue as he looked up at her wide-eyed.

"You bet!" She winked.

...

They danced for a little bit longer, but eventually had to stop as Zuke's legs started acting up. Sharp stabbing pains shot through his leg muscles. Damn legs always failed him at the worst times.

Before his legs could give out entirely, May helped him sit at a table and made sure he was ok. When he reassured her that he was fine, and had his medication at hand, she smiled and stood tall.

She turned to face the stage, made eye contact with Yinu and her mother, and nodded.

Was that a signal?

"Stay here, okay? I'll be back." She instructed, distracting Zuke from thinking about it further.

She smiled at him, but her smile had… changed. Zuke wasn't sure, but she suddenly seemed kinda… nervous?  

Once again, a distraction appeared to prevent him thinking about it.

He felt the weight of the table bench shift slightly, he turned to see a familiar pink and white face.

"Hey Nadia." 

"Hello Zuke."

Though she wasn't smiling, he could tell she was glad to see him. He was glad to see her too.

She eyed him. Her green perceptive eyes scanned him top to bottom. 

"Are your legs pestering you again?"

He sighed and nodded in defeat. 

"Yeah, it sucks. I was actually enjoying dancing too."

She hummed.

"Do you need anything?"

"Would you grab some water for me?" She nodded and retrieved a glass of icy water.

He took his pills and washed them down with the cold drink. Good thing he didn't leave them at home.

"Thanks Nadia." He smiled gently. She only nodded.

A pause hung over them briefly. 

"I noticed your sculptures, they're nicely done. I haven't seen you do anything nautical themed in a while."

"Yes.. The pedest- er, Mayday, requested them. She did.. attempt to help make a few with me, however… that proved to be.. Not very helpful." Nadia's face twisted into a frown.

Zuke chuckled. He could imagine May probably breaking some sculptures while trying to help. She tended to be a magnet for chaos, if not the cause of it.

"It was… kind of her to try, at least." Nadia hesitantly added. Clearly she still had trouble getting along with Mayday, but she was making the effort.

Zuke chuckled. "Yeah, that sounds like May. Speaking of.." He glanced around. Still no sign of her.

"Do you know what's going on with her? It's not like I don't appreciate all of this or anything, but she's been acting… off. Jumpy. It's like she's nervous, or something."

"She's fine." Nadia almost snapped, her response so quick and certain Zuke was stunned into silence.

Nadia sighed, and put a hand on Zuke's shoulder. "She is fine, I assure you. Just… try to enjoy yourself. It's what she wanted for you. Don't let all of this," she vaguely gestured at the environment around them, "go to waste."

Zuke sighed, "Yeah, you're right. I just worry about her."

"Of course," Nadia reaffirmed. 

Before they could change the subject, the stage's speakers rang with Mayday's voice.

"Hey everyone! It's time!" She exclaimed.

As if it was practiced, the other guests took their seats at a table of their choice, and Nadia moved to sit with Tatiana.

Which left Zuke alone at his table.

Looking back towards the stage, Mayday adjusted the microphone stand, as Yinu prepared her piano behind May.

She scanned the area, and her eyes locked on Zuke. Her face lit up, and she pointed at him.

"Zuke! This is for you!" She proclaimed.

His eyes widened, and a blue blush tinged his green cheeks.

May looked back at Yinu, the girls nodded to each other, and their song began.

Rock and classical mix in an elegant energy as May's guitar strums along with Yinu's piano. A combo Zuke never expected from his partner, moved him so quickly, yet so gently.

The music swayed him into a trance, all else faded, it was just him, the music, and May..

Flourishes of warm orange, gold and pink.

The beat swelled up and dropped down, he closed his eyes, taking in the high energy harmony. A mix of familiar and new.

Mayday's radiant energy and warmth, but also her softness. 

It soared above all else, carrying him with it. The guitar got louder and louder. He could feel the song was going to end soon, doing one last swing up. Louder.

He creases his brow, it sounded closer. He opened his eyes to see May playing Kul Fyra's guitar right in front of him. 

The music elegantly dropped and faded out. Quiet pulled over. 

May smiled at Zuke as he gazed at her in awe. Her smile was gentle, loving.

"Zuke.." She slung the guitar by its strap to rest it on her back. She stood directly in front of him, leaning forward slightly.

She gently took his hands in hers. Her flower-like eyes locked with his ruby ones. Her warmth seeped into Zuke's skin. "You have been… the best partner I could ever ask for. You're calm and cool, but also passionate and smart. You stood by my side, even when no one else did, you forgave me when I didn't forgive myself.."

He felt her squeeze his hands, his eyes still wide. Her voice wavered.

"You never made fun of me when I did something strange or silly. You understand my love of rock better than anyone. I learn so much when I'm with you.. I.." She took a breath, "I love you so much, Zuke.."

"I love waking up with you, I love playing music with you, I love doing shows and hearing you drum away.. I want to do this with you for the rest of my life. My life is just… better when you're in it."

She took a deep, shaky breath. Her hands pulled away from his. He almost reached for her with his eyes welling up, but he stopped himself. Barely.

"Zuke.."

She reached into her jacket pocket, and slowly got down on one knee.

Zuke's breath caught hard in his throat, and he held a closed fist to his mouth. His vision blurred a little.

Mayday pulled out a small box, holding it delicately in her hands, and looked back up at Zuke, her own eyes welling up.

She opened the box, revealing a ring. A clean silver band with an emerald centered on top, and two smaller rubies on each side of the emerald. 

"Zuke.. Will you marry me? Be my bandmate for life?"

Zuke's eyes flooded with tears, he was unable to hold them back. Overrun by sheer joy, he nodded. 

"Yes!"

Mayday beamed. "Y-you will!?"

Zuke lunged forward, practically tackling her to the ground in a hug.

"Yes! I'd love to!" 

Mayday and Zuke wrapped their arms around each other, and their lips met, both shedding tears.

"I love you."

Nahida was a little bit in a daze. Her mind was elsewhere as she looked at the dolls in front of her. Small dolls made out of felt and wool. They all looked familiar to her, and she would have cooed at how cute they were, yet her mind could not help but think about that lady in her dream.

She looked like someone she knew... that aura of comfort and kindness that surround her wasn't like those old grannies who gave kids candies kind of gentle but something more eternal, more powerful than that. It would be hard to compare the power she had to the archons cause you and they were so different... so far apart.

This supposes elemental power... colorless but moldable and changing. Even archons were limited to their own element and weren't limitless, the Geo archon was strong, and he could command meteorites to fall into Teyvat and build high mountains. But he could not command the sea to flood the world. She herself even as an archon wasn't able to do much in the face of many who didn't want her back once.

"What are you looking so gloomy at." Nahida snapped out of her thoughts when she heard a cold, harsh yet familiar voice speaking to her. Looking to the side, she saw that huge hat of a certain someone she knew. "Wanderer." Nahida smiled at him, moving to face him. "I was looking at these cute dolls. Don't they remind you of some people?" Nahida giggled, knowing full well that he was familiar with some of them.

Wanderer raised an eyebrow at the many dolls that were placed on a table at the side of the room. Small plushies with simplified designs of people he knew. Rather than cute...

"They look creepy rather than cute." Wanderer crossed his arms as he narrowed his eyes.

"Do not say that. What if you hurt the person who made them." Nahida shook her head sighing. "Then they shouldn't have made such creepy things. What are they, a stalker?" Wanderer sarcastically replied.

"She is not a stalker... rather, she is someone we know... and wish to see. She made these just for us." Nahida replied. Looking back at the dolls walking towards it, she reached out for a small plushie from the bunch and handed it to the Wanderer. "Here. This is for you."

"Hmmm? I didn't know that there was another archon." Wanderer looked at the doll that looked just like him with the hair and clothes to the pout with a suspicious look. He must have noticed the white elemental aura surrounding it, but as Nahida continued to hold it out for him. Grabbing the doll, he took a closer look at it.

"She isn't an archon, someone far greater than that, actually..." Nahida replied to the Wanderer in a serious tone but didn't elaborate. Instead, she looked back at the plushies. "Wanderer, can you help me hand out these plushies. She had asked my help to give them out."

"Do it yourself. You don't really need my help with something like this. You are probably using this as an excuse for me to interact with more people." Wanderer huffed in annoyance, turning to leave. "If you don't need me, I will be heading out then."

"Hehe.. you caught me." Nahida laughed and let Wanderer head out. She, too, was busy with this after all. In her mind, she stored the memory of the Wanderer holding on to his plushie in one hand, the thoughtful looked he gave it when he thought she wasn't looking. She knew that he would not throw it away.

Storing them in a bag, she headed out of the room she started to search.

And the first person she found was Collie!

Collie was flustered when the dendro archon walked up to her as she had just come to the city with Tighnari as he had an appointment with his friends. She followed along as wanted to see the place again and buy some stuff that she could only get here.

She didn't think she would run into the dendro archon, much less suddenly be given a doll. "Is this for me?" Collie asked, taking the doll and holding it as if it would break by a slight touch. She heard from her friend Amber that she had received a doll from a mysterious lady and that it was the cutest thing ever. And it really was cute when Collie saw a small doodle of it she thought of getting one for herself.

She didn't expect she would be receiving one from the dendro archon! The both of them soon parted ways, and Collie thought of what she would tell Amber later on in her letter. Her little doll also had a small cat plush connected to it!

The next person Nahida found was Nilou, who was street performing in the middle of city hall. Her dance was so graceful and lovely Nahida didn't want to bother and instead watched till it ended, clapping when it had finished. Nilou greeted the Dendro archon with respect, happy that her archon made a visit and watched her dance.

Nahida told her that the dance was so pretty and gifted her the plush. Surprised, Nilou asked her if she was the one who made it, but Nahida shook her head, telling her that it was from a special someone.

The fans were jealous of how much Nilou treasured the doll, while others couldn't help but smile. After all, it was an honor to receive something given by the dendro archon, and they were proud of Nilous.

Next, Nahida found Cyno, who was in the middle of a TCG match. She watched him conquer the match after struggling in the first few rounds. "It is an honor that the dendro archon watched my match." Cryo raved on about his journey to win this match, and as a congratulation, Nahida gave him a little plush. "I shall treasure and protect this till my dying breath."

"Please, you don't have to go that far," Nahida replied with a worried smile. Tho it made her a little happy that he would treasure the plushie this much.

Next, she found Kaveh speaking with Dori, something about a dept, but before Nahida could get more information (not that she was trying to eavesdrop), they stopped as they had noticed her.

"My do what do I owe the Dendro archon the pleasure of visiting the Palace of Alcazarzaray. Could you be looking for something? Fabrics? Spice? Or something rare? I have it all!" Dori said, couldn't be able to contain her excitement at the idea of the dendro archon becoming her dear customer.

Kaveh was slightly more flustered but quickly composed himself and respectfully asked why she was here and if she was looking for something or someone.

"I am here to find you two." Nahida smiled and showed them two plushies that looked just like them. "They are a gift from a certain someone!" The two were surprised at the dolls, accepting them from her.

Both had different reactions.

On one hand, Kaveh had a more touched expression asking Nahida if he could know who made this lovely handmade plushie of him and his bag and that he wanted to give back, while Dori was more materialistic having come up with "a brilliant idea!" Raising her plushie with a purple small genie plush jingling at the movement to the sky, her eyes twinkling at the thought of potential mora~!

Nahida could only smile, her face hinting that the maker doesn't want to be known. Kaveh, knowing that he could not do anything here, could not help but sigh but stated that if this person were to ever need any help that he could possibly give, feel free to ask. (Dori was disappointed that she would not hire the person who made these plushies.)

The next she found was Candace and Dehya at the desert village, the two catching up after fighting some treasure hoarders trying to steal from the village. "Ah, it is the dendro archon Nahida! It has been a while!"

"Welcome to Aaru village, dendro archon."

Giving them their plush, both of them found the plushies absolutely adorable and asked the person who made them if they ever feel comfortable to come and visit them one time. Candace would gladly welcome them to the village while Dehya offered a small shopping spree as she knew all the trends and shops or if they ever needed a bodyguard one day just call her.

The last two girls, Faruzan and Layla, were found at the academy as both of them traded notes that were of interest but also some chit-chat. The two were surprised when they found out that the dendro archon was looking for them as one of the scholars frantically searched for them told them so.

"This is so cute. It even has twirly whirly my shroom buddy beside it.... I miss them." "This doll is very cute. You could see the hard work and effort placed into making each and every single stitch. Send the person who made them my thanks. I would do it myself, but it seems that they don't want to be known." "Me too! I think with this I could do better in my essay that I need to finish... yawn"

The last two people she needed to look for were Tighnari and Al Haitham and soon found them sitting at the cafe along with Kaveh and Cyno. In Al Haitham's hand was Kaveh plush while one Tighnari's was Cyno both examine it.

Cyno was going on and on about the card game he won in the presence of the dendro archon and that it was an honor to win in her presence as Tighnari told him to stop telling the same story for the third time now. "We get it. We know that you will hand down this plushie as a family heirloom!"

"There is something about these dolls that is not right...." Al Haitham narrowed his eyes at Kaveh's dolls. He definitely knew that something was up with these. "They are given by the dendro archon herself. Of course, they are unique! Gah, you are always suspicious of everything." Kaveh stated frustratedly. "Do you ever know how to relax and just appreciate the work that went into making this!"

"If you would just stop and look a little harder, maybe you would notice that something is odd about them." Al Haitham didn't look up at Kaveh. These dolls in the end weren't gifts from the dendro archon but someone who is probably of higher rank than an archon to be able to make the archon do such work.

"Al Haitham is correct about them being unique. You would never find these dolls somewhere else, even if you searched the whole Teyvat." Nahida cut in, walking towards them with a smile on her face. Everyone looked at Nahida, who stopped beside them, Al Haitham and Tighnari greeted her as they didn't see her beforehand like the other two boys had.

"These are for you!" Nahida giggled, handing Tighnari and Al Haitham their own plushies both thanking her for them. "What do you mean by unique?" Tighnari asked curiously, his tail swishing a little faster as he looked at his own doll. He saw Collie's one and wondered if he could get one, too. Lightly tugging the doll's ear long as his own, he looked at Nahida again.

"They are from someone special, someone who watches over us all." Nahida stated, her eyes closing as she remembered the lady she met in her dream, the little conversation that she and you had.

She didn't realize who you were nor why she thought that you were so familiar to her back then inside the dream she only realize who you were when she woke up and saw the plushies on the side of her and a familiar white elemental magic surrounding them.

Returning back to her room, she saw a doll that looked exactly like her surrounded by Aranara plushies. Smiling at the doll, she hugged hers and hoped that one day she would actually see you in person and not in a dream.

Note: If you find any mistakes here please tell me! Anyway, phew part 4 of the series is over! I know that Genshin has released characters outside of Sumeru that are not included here in the series yet but I plan on saving it for a later date when more characters for the past regions show up!

Am I the only one who wants to see posts about female genshin characters in a soulmate au? (Little to no angst, just pure fluff/smut)

Imagine Ganyu, who had given up on finding her soulmate after many years, finds her soulmate by complete accident. Not knowing what to do as she hadn't thought about this in so many years, but she wasn't going to let her soulmate go. Especially since Ganyu could lose Reader to someone if she doesn't shoot her shot (even if they are soulmates.)

Imagine Yae Miko, finding her soulmate hanging out with Sayu. Yae Miko being momentarily surprised to find her soulmate after so many years of thinking she didn't have one, she hax experience with relationships in the past, maybe a few days later she finds out that she isn't reader's only soulmate with the other being Raiden Ei.

Imagine Furina thinking that her soulmate died when she became cursed, only to find reader after the death of the hydro archon. She was worried to approach but accidentally bumped into reader by accident, making the reader realize that Furina is their soulmate.

Imagine Arlecchino finding her soulmate, who babysat children whenever, but takes a while to approach reader. This would be because she is finding out everything to make sure you aren't hiding something that could be a danger to the cryo archon. (or something, not sure.) After seeing nothing wrong she approaches you trying her best not to scare you.

Imagine Kuki Shinobu meeting the gangs new member, it is instantly noticeable that her and reader are soulmates. This causes a lot of teasing from the rest of the gang.

Jing Yuan's heard of the game before however it wasn't until he heard you yelling in delight over a 5* you had gotten that he found out you were one of the many people that also has a delight in playing the game.

He's amused to see how much you like certain characters and how you, in your words, "simp" for others. In fact, I honestly think you probably did the "My parents rate Genshin Characters" trend with him. He ranked most of the characters very highly honestly. (He especially liked Cyno along with some of the sleepy characters like Lisa, Layla and Sayu)

Honestly he's very amused by all your reactions throughout the game, the audible gasps you may do when something surprises you, the loud cursing when you're fighting an enemy and the cries when you lose your 50/50 (maybe if you ask nice enough he'll give you his credit card)

I'd think he wishes to try out the game himself, however with the fact he's busy with General duties he doesn't get much time to really play. However he does get all the characters he wants with just a swipe of his card, however he's stuck at level 45 as a) no time to really continue and b) he honestly seems like the type to not bother with the ascension mission and in fact wants it to build up till he knows he's AR 60. THEN he'll actually do it.

Overall, he doesn't mind that you play it and enjoys it himself when he can. However don't expect him to be so willing to give you his card so you can get the Genesis Crystals to get the characters you want.

(Also I see his team consisting of off-field dps like Xiangling and Furina so he can just sit back and relax as they do the fighting and he doesn't need to lift a finger much)

I feel like Yanqing was already a player. Like he joined when it was first released but he didn't really play much. He'd log in once or twice a week then not log in for months. It's not that he isn't interested, he is. It's just he has things he enjoys more.

When he finds out you play it then he might be more inclined to try harder at it, so the two of you can do some sibling bonding time and play. Depending on AR levels between the two of you, he's either asking you to help defeat bosses when he still cannot after the nth time or you both can cry as you die to the electro hypostasis.

I feel like his luck is like, amazing as well. Like he got Keqing on the beginner banner and managed to get a good 5* weapon for her on the standard. And he's always won his 50/50s

However his luck cannot be transferred to how his artifact luck is. It takes his weeks upon weeks to get ONE decent artifact for his new 5* Ayaka.

He still doesn't play much but his game time has increased a lot more and he can understand why you like it so much...however he cannot understand why you seem to like certain characters and beg him to get you merch of them for your birthday.

He definitely struggled in DragonSpine and thought pyro and cryo characters were immune to sheer cold.

Overall, he understands a lot where you're coming from when it comes to gameplay and lore but when it comes to you simping over certain characters then he can't help but feel confused, and if he particularly dislikes a character you simp for. Perhaps disgusted (jokingly and lovingly of course)

(I'm unsure what his team would be, but he'd be a mono sword team imo)

Honestly, with my personal experiences with Genshin. I thankfully did not struggle with DragonSpine (not as much as other people did)
