Eoland studied the speedster across from her critically. Short, dark hair nearly obscuring deep scarring across a milky eye that seemed to glow yellow with Speed Force energy; all black clothing; a somber, defeated look on her features, lined a bit more with age and stress - not her Barbara, certainly, but Barbara nonetheless.

"I'm a bit disappointed," she commented casually, as though discussing the weather. "Someone else seems to have broken you where I couldn't. Who was it?"

A muscle in Barbara's jaw tensed. "I'm not here to discuss that."

Eoland tilted her head with an amused look. "No, I'd imagine not. Why are you here, then, Barbara?"

Barbara crossed her arms and looked away. Eoland's smirk widened and she stalked closer.

"Oh you poor thing," she cooed, running her claws along Barbara's jaw before gripping the back of her neck. "Am I truly the only person you have left?"

She leaned in close, her breath hot against Barbara's ear. "What happened to those lovely friends and paramours?"

Barbara jerked away and took a step back. "I told you. I'm not here to discuss that."

"I know. You're here because you want to die." Eoland lifted a finger to trace the scar across Barbara's cheek before pushing her roughly against the wall in a burst of red lightning and placing the tips of her fingers in the center of her chest. "Say it."

Barbara's eyes squeezed shut as tears stung behind them. "I want to die," she whispered hoarsely.

Eoland leaned closer, her lips hovering just above Barbara's. "Ask nicely," she purred.

Barbara's breath hitched. "Eoland...please."

Eoland hummed. "So pretty when you're desperate." She pressed her lips to Barbara's neck, leaving a trail of sharp nips and kisses down to her collarbone.

Barbara shuddered. "Stop toying with me and just do it."

"Oh, no, Barbara. If you want me to do something for you, you'll have to be patient." Eoland's hand trailed down to rest on Barbara's waist, pulling her closer. "I intend to savor this."

Savitar (Flash) : Fanfiction - Chapter 6

It’s great that Garcia is able to spend time with you. 

“I’m actually expecting more company.” Garcia states. 

“We are?” You raise a brow. She nods. 

“Yep, and I think you’ll like it.” 

There’s not much more that is said, but Savitar's head turns when he hears a group of people laughing as they enter. A blond woman makes eye contact with you and your face lights up. 

“JJ, Morgan, Reid!” 

The excitement you show makes Savitar stare. You spring to your feet and begin giving hugs individually. 

“Looking beautiful as always.” Morgan compliments. Your cheeks flush as you hug him, and Savitar feels a bit annoyed. 

“She never blushed like that when I complimented her in the past.” 

The thought rushes over before he can stop it and his frown deepens. An older man that looks like a lawyer is the last one you greet and Savitar observes the way you become slightly nervous. He didn’t even need to be a profiler to spot the obvious. Because the color of your cheeks has gotten ten shades redder. 

“H-Hi S-Sir I mean Chief uhh umm..” 

“Just Aaron is fine, remember.” Hotch smiles, holding out a hand for you that you shake. They all seem to be smiling in the background. 

“So are you going to introduce us to your boyfriend?” JJ questions with a grin. 

“He isn’t my boyfriend!” You deny it way too fast. You chance a look at Hotch who is still wearing a little grin. 

“A-Anyway this is Savi Allen. He’s a friend of mine.” 

Savitar doesn’t stand, just gives a nod. Everyone has already taken their seats, and Hotch moves to pull out your own for you. You accept with a nervous giggle, waiting for him to sit. He does, right next to you. 

“Garcia really surprised me, I didn’t think I would get to see all of you today. Where is Rossi?” 

“He’s in Paris visiting his Daughter, he says he’s sorry he wasn’t able to see you before you head back. “ 

“That’s okay. He sends me pictures of his grandson every now and then. I have never seen a man gush that much in my life.” They laugh along with you. 

Savitar observes. Watching you so unapologetically happy brings a feeling of guilt. Because just recently he’d planned to take someone important away from your life. Had you lost Iris he’s certain that you wouldn’t be sitting here smiling the way you are now. 

He didn’t like this.

“I’m going for a walk.” 

Savitar's statement makes you turn your head. You reach for his hand before he rushes off. You slide your palm in his, and they all catch the action. Savitar straightens in his chair. 

“My friend is a bit shy when it comes to meeting new people, please be patient with him.” 

JJ nods. “ I promise we don’t bite.” 

Reid tries to assess all he can. The shifting gazes, hard looks. They all know there’s more to it than that, but they don’t confront it. Because it’s clear that you care for him. 

You give Savitar a soft squeeze before you pull away. 

“So Garcia, anyone new in your life?” Morgan laughs at the question. 

“There’s a rookie that’s been giving her hell.” JJ informs. 

“He’s nothing but a rookie!” Garcia retaliates. 

You can’t help but smile. 

“You must really like him if you’re getting this worked up. “ She folds her hands like a child and you can see all the smiles around the table. You chance a look in Savitar’s direction. He isn’t smiling per se. But he’s not frowning either. 

Maybe you could change him after all.

welcome back for the actual last kraken bait list! the last several days involved a lot of chaos and now a good chunk of my previous list is defunct. lovely. 

you guys know the drill by now. it’s a mock expansion draft with some actual predictions and a few funny theories, i had help from my buddy corwin (@chaos-hockey) and a few other folks. i’ll try to keep this short today, so there will be minimal commentary for anything that hasn’t changed from the last list.

Anaheim Ducks: Haydn Fleury

going by casey’s reaction, anaheim fucked up their protection list and leaving fleury exposed was a surprise and a mistake. guess it makes sense that the next expansion team also has a fleury (even if marc-andre and haydn aren’t related)

Arizona Coyotes: Christian Fischer

same as last time. next!

Boston Bruins: Jeremy Lauzon

Buffalo Sabres: William Borgen

i went with rasmus asplund last time around, but he got protected by the sabres. guess they want to keep all three rasmi (rasmusses?). so let’s go with... this dude, who is a defenseman one of the writers from The Athletic picked.

Calgary Flames: Mark Giordano

the flames picked tanev over giordano, but i had a feeling that might be the case. giordano will be a good veteran presence in seattle, etc. next!

Carolina Hurricanes: Nino Niederreiter

brady skjei, my pick last time around, got protected. kinga is probably happy, but i had to take a different route. i had a few other ideas (jake bean, petr mrazek), but corwin liked nino to seattle, so here we are! here’s hoping i spelled his name right.

Chicago: Nikita Zadorov

i had adam gaudette here last time around, and while he’s still available, i just think zadorov is a more interesting option to take from chicago. i might have said dylan strome if he wasn’t protected (sabs’ dreams are crushed)

Colorado Avalanche: JT Compher

as i mentioned in my intro, ryan graves, my previous pick, got traded to the devils (woohoo!)- savy joe sakic didn’t want to give him up for nothing. it was between compher and joonas donskoi to take gravy’s place, but i went with JT since he’s a little younger and his contract is a little less. donskoi is the better performer though, so honestly it could go either way.

Columbus Blue Jackets: Dean Kukan

boone jenner was protected, so there goes corwin’s idea. sticking with the same pick from last time. next!

Dallas Stars: Jamie Oleksiak

jason dickinson got traded to the canucks instead of being kraken bait, so that pick was toast. i didn’t really know who else could go here, but corwin liked the idea of oleksiak, so that settled it.

Detroit Red Wings: Vladislav Namestnikov

i’m sticking with it. next!

Edmonton Oilers: Tyson Barrie

this pick is maybe a little more likely now than it was last time since barrie wasn’t protected, but the odds aren’t necessarily great. i still enjoy my wishful thinking. next!

Florida Panthers: Chris Driedger

i think this is my slam dunk pick now, considering it seems like driedger’s already been talking to seattle. next!

Los Angeles Kings: Olli Maata

viktor arvidsson got protected (corwin was wrong), so it was back to the drawing board for the kings. i wanted to pick andreas athanasiou here, but i needed another player who wasn’t a 2021 free agent and i wanted the same forwards/defensemen ratio as last round, so i went with maata instead.

Minnesota Wild: Kaapo Kakhonen

matt dumba got protected, so my wild pick was toast. i also had to make up for a lost goalie spot (more on that soon), so i went with the young goalie out of minnesota.

Montreal Canadiens: Philip Danault

the habs protected jake allen after carey price waived his no move clause, so i was tempted to pick price to fill that goalie spot, but i don’t think it’s gonna happen on account of price’s hefty contract. instead, i went with ufa but good performer danault. i heard his name a lot watching the cup finals, so it works, right?

Nashville Predators: Calle Jarnkrok

New Jersey Devils: Andreas Johnsson

i will talk about my resentment and anxiety that nate bastian was exposed another time. in the meantime, i am trying to hypnotize ron francis from across the country into taking mango.

i honestly can’t believe the rangers protected kevin rooney. so i’ll go with my second choice for the pick from the rags, which is definitely seeming likely right now.

kept the apple pie in a mason jar on skates around. won’t say “next!” because that’s it.

and there we go, a somewhat coherent response to all the recent chaos. in summary, it’s 3 goalies, 16 forwards, and 11 defensemen, which is the same ratio as the previous list, and a cap hit of 72.3M, which is actually less than before (it was 76.4M last time).

this is decidedly the last kraken bait list, but i may have some more commentary on the expansion draft on wednesday and an analysis of who, if anyone, i got right. in the meantime, hope you enjoyed!

MUSHIMARU FUJIEDA

Dancer, Choreographer, Director

In 1989, after having performed in several Japanese theatre productions, Mushimaru Fujieda  (b. 1952) started to dance solo, utilising movement in relationship to breath and rhythm.

He spent several months performing in the Taklamakan Desert in Xinjiang, northwest China, and in the streets of Tibet and Soviet Russia in 1990. He created his unique style of movement, which he calls “Tennen Nikutai Shi” (“The Physical Poets”) – the name coming to him after meeting and collaborating with Allen Ginsberg in 1991.

As an actor, scriptwriter, producer, writer and director, his list of works includes the masked dance-drama Sou Ramayana (using masks of Himalayan religious ceremonies). He has created and performed numerous special works, including Art Battle A-Un-Gi, Moonlight Celebration and Chance Operation, in Japan, various countries in Europe, South Korea, the UK, the USA, China, Taiwan, the Philippines, Hong Kong and India.

In Japan he has appeared regularly on TV and radio, and he has published travel pieces in newspapers and magazines. He is also a lecturer at the National School of Drama in Agartala, India.

Pianist, vocalist, educator and artist Aya Ogawa lives in Hakodate, Hokkaido. She started playing piano in 1968 and has been involved in theatre since 1970. Ogawa is also a songwriter, organiser of poetry readings and publisher of picture books. These experiences inform her improvisations, which include work with Japanese and international musicians and dancers such as Sabu Toyozumi, Peter Brötzmann, Charlie Collins and Deku Ogawa, and Butoh dancers Hal Tanaka, Mushimaru Fujieda, Atsushi Takenouchi and Tukasa Kamidate. She toured Poland, Germany, the UK and Japan with the Polish–Japanese audio-visual dance project Butoh Techno.

PASCAL SAVY

A sound artist and performer based in London. He started making music in the late 1990s influenced by early techno and experimental electronic music. Over the last decade he has explored sparser and calmer territories, often reflecting on time, presence and the elusiveness of reality. In parallel to his interest in more minimal and quieter music, he has been heavily influenced by the writings of the late cultural and political theorist Mark Fisher and has in consequence explored more reactive and politically charged terrains. His recent album Dislocations (Experimedia, May 2018) was conceptualised and articulated around the concepts and ideas developed in Capitalist Realism, a book in which Fisher surveys and analyses the symptoms of our current cultural and political malaise.

Natural Physical Poetry Workshop on 23 & 24 May 2020

In this workshop, students will explore movement in relationship to their breathing rhythm, which Mushimaru believes is highly individual and the most basic approach for accessing and generating one’s own unique dance. Through personal expression, participants will search to rediscover the playfulness of the inner child, free from more normalised codes of gesture. Mushimaru’s method is an effective tool for developing sensitivity as a dancer in order to both integrate and release the mind-body. The workshop is open to people of all ages and abilities, as well as all levels of experience of movement and dance.

Savitar (Flash) : Fanfiction - Chapter 5

Since the team agreed to give this a chance, you decided that maybe a trip out of state would be beneficial. You needed to visit someone, and you couldn’t just leave him with the others at Star Labs knowing how they felt.

“Tell me again why we’re here.”

Washington was the first stop. Mainly because you have family there and you need to get Savitar to begin small. So right now volunteering at a shelter is the best place for him.

He adjusts the baseball cap on his head, not truly making eye contact with anyone.

He hands a couple clothes, glaring in your direction.

“I can run faster than a bullet. My abilities could be used in a much better way.

He gives another coat, and you smile at the man, turning back to Savitar.

“Is this really not awakening anything?”

“Not a thing.” His expression is flat. You should have expected as much. Still, it was nice to hope.

“You have all of Barry’s memories, so you know how I was raised.” Savitar expression changes for a second.

“I know.”

You nod.

“As someone who knows what it’s like to lose a family, I can tell you it’s hard when you have to depend on people you don’t know. It’s dangerous to put your life in the hands of people who don’t give a crap about what happens to you. That’s why it’s important to do this. It may not seem like much, but people do appreciate this.”

He’s a bit quiet now.

For a next minute or so, he hands out the clothes with a less threatening look to the people coming in. You smile to yourself.

“I didn’t mean to guilt trip you.”

“Of course you did.”

You giggle.

“I’m glad it worked.

He sends you that glare that you can’t help but find cute on his face.

“You know you don’t intimidate me right?”

“I still don’t get why that is.”

“Maybe I’m just that brave.” You boast.

“Or stupid.”

“You really are bad at being nice.”

“Sue me.”

“If you were a registered citizen I would.”

“How unfortunate.”

The back and forth banter continues until around lunch. You help pack up some of the empty boxes that you’ve stacked up. Bidding goodbye to the workers at the shelter. Your eyes drift over your watch.

“We’re going to be late! Let’s go.”

You’re doing a sprint walk out of the building. Savitar just casually follows behind in stride.

“What exactly are we going to be late for?”

“You’ll see when we get there.”

He should have taken that as the sign that he wouldn’t like the surprise awaiting him. Because you made it to lunch just in time. Both of you entered and there was already a woman there wearing the most colorful outfit he’d ever seen. For a moment he contemplated that she was attacked by a three year old.

“(Y/N)!!”

Even her voice was peppy.

“I’m out.” 

He tried to make a run for it, but you grabbed his arm, hooking it with yours, sporting a smile.

“Oh no you don’t.” You whispered.

You basically yanked him forward.

“Garcia!!” 

Your voice was equally as elated and Savitar briefly contemplated jumping out the window. You rushed to give her a hug and you both did that little squeal jump thing he’d seen in teen movies.

It was getting worse by the second. When you both finally disconnected, she set her sights on him.

“Who is this handsome man, you didn’t tell me you had a boyfriend.”

You laughed.

“This is my friend Sav- Uhh Savi! Savi Allen!”

You covered it.

He sent you the most spiteful look and you just cleared your throat as you all took a seat.

“Nice to meet you Mr. Allen. Thank you for taking care of my best friend.”

He can already tell this is not going to be his day.
