Yoga in your in-law’s

You have maybe 5 minutes of your own time (living with in-laws with your toddler), but you have to make time.. find it, escape in it.

My (momentary) time is dedicated to standing up straight, hands straight up “mountain pose” and taking the time to breathe. Usually after doing the dishes.

Whether I get a succession of two or three more deep breaths is not a guarantee but the ones I take I get to enjoy.

Living with my father in-law has allowed me to realize yoga is not “just” for everyone, it HAS TO BE within everyone’s mental grasp, and there are a lot of people who won’t ever let anyone “tell them what to do” ie “take a deep breath.” Ridiculous as it sounds, it’s true. Consider the generations before yours, yoga to them could be a foreign affair they could never envision their current state bodies to lean into.

And that’s my challenge: how Can I get this relAxing lifestyle to “the people” who have stifled their own physical flexibility for decades? A mentality that has never given much thought to deep breathing and never given any value to it, childs pose, let alone a simple mountain pose.

But they sit.. and that’s a starting point.

Can anyone out there in #losangeles help save senior kitty Pepper? Pepper's senior mom was admitted to an assisted living facility 3 weeks ago. Her son Jamie is disabled & lives in special housing which does not allow pets. He's terrified of losing his housing, doesn't want to surrender Pepper to a shelter, but can't find a rescue to help. He's been calling rescues across LA for almost 3 weeks & come up empty. Here's his text to us "I want to thank again for just calling me, it a lot more than I received from any one else." I don't usually like to ask for anything from anyone, but...

Please my family needs your help. I guess first I should tell you who exactly needs the help. Her names Pepper, she's our 8 year old shih-tzu and I guarantee you would love her if you met her. She honestly is not like other dogs, she doesn't like to play, sleeps all day, and she hates going for walks, but I'll tell you this, she's the best listener I've ever met. Every issue I've ever had to deal with Pepper has been there. Whenever I had long nights she'd be right there in the doorway waiting for me to welcome her in. It's been this way since I was 10. She was literally a gift from God when our previous dog suffered a sudden death. She came to us with a little bow in her hair. She's the perfect dog. She can't run away (her legs are two inches tall), she can't bite you (tiny baby teeth), doesn't move an inch during car rides, but it's her presence that is undeniable. Even if she doesn't make a sound you know she's in the room, because you're in there too. That's the thing about dogs, all they ask is to be loved by you and will give you nothing but love and laughter in return. If you knew Pepper you'd know she's something special; sassy, fierce, with a down right attitude and I could not ask for a more perfect friend. So the three musketeers are coming to me temporarily but I would love if anyone can hit me up with some Venmo donations for cat food and litter if possible because I already have over 15 Foster’s I’m trying to reunite the babies with their mom which unfortunately is not Chickies and I believe it would be Pepper’s kittens but I’m still trying to trap her and if I can trap her I will be having a cage that’s big enough for her to safely nurse the kittens until we can secure a foster place for all of them but in the meantime get her some medical care I will post the pic of her damages, warning it’s gruesome but she needs to be seen ASAP and so far the medical is 75 for a visit and 120 for anesthesia and not counting stitches, I will post more in a few in the meantime my Venmo is @Sandy-Torres-8 and I thank you for your support in helping Pepper recover and reunite with the babies! She must be frantically looking for them, I will be taking Chiquis in addition to get spayed so we can avoid over population. It takes a cat village! It's going to be with the help of Pepper, my 12 year old toy poodle, that we will change the way we live in this universe; "we" as in, you - me - everyone - and especially anyone who wants to live a pain-free life. He and I are dedicated to fighting arthritis through prevention and through this happy journey we are encountering the corrupt flaws of our many broke-down systems and thoughts.
