Look as a lesbian it sucks to see women cap so hard for men who treat them….so badly but some of the leading lights in the history of feminism in the US/UK were in heterosexual partnerships with men they genuinely loved and went on to accomplish truly important things for women. I can’t say I fully endorse all het women going out and getting themselves a man, because it’s a tricky business and tough to get right.
So all I can say in regard to het women is this:
1.) You should be single for a while and put yourself in separatist environments regularly, because the social pressure to put up with bad behavior from men is *high* and it’s important you surround yourself with people who prioritize you for you if you’re going to withstand it. If those people are lesbians, please don’t talk about your relationship to us constantly, if you find yourself unable to think of anything else that you care about…consider if your partner has other hobbies or interests. Consider the gendered dynamics of you having only him and him having a life.
2.) Any male you end up with is going to be socialized to take advantage of you or other women around you, sometimes a lot, sometimes a little. Men can be human and have lovable qualities and still be misogynistic. Being able to love someone very much-but also refuse to sacrifice yourself to their subconscious (or conscious) beliefs is going to save you. Learn how to do it.
3.) Sometimes….none of it is going to be enough and celibacy is ok. It’s ok to feel so disgusted by patriarchy and men’s treatment of women you’re turned off from men on the whole and it’s definitely ok to feel this way and not be attracted to women. I know a few women actually who are just not interested in men after being treated particularly poorly by them. Women have found platonic companionship with one another for a very long time, just because you don’t want men-doesn’t mean that you’ll be alone.
Ultimately, lesbian feminists shouldn’t be the authority on the happiness of women interested in men but I do think because we prefer the company of women we can sometimes have fresh eyes when women get lost in the patriarchal sauce. And I think lesbian feminists who advocate for separatism come from a good place, I know a lot of wonderful women with good qualities who got lost in relationships with men who don’t value them and it’s very easy to get lost on that road, many people will encourage you and your socialization will work against you. At the same time, I never want to dissuade women from happiness or love or partnership or misrepresent the political project of feminism as being something dependent on one’s relationship status. Ultimately, women do not have to be defined by their relationships, they can be, but it doesn’t have to be so. As a sister who isn’t affected by this challenge, all I can offer is my solidarity, my support and perspective.

Wow-Wow Sauce
For @redwineand12gaugeshells... :->
Tumblr media
In fact that bottled sauce (and nervousnigels) no longer exists, and in any case its principal ingredients of (squints) horseradish and mustard are way off base.
Wow Wow sauce was meant to go with boiled beef, and since a major ingredient was the meat's broth *, it was more like a pan gravy made at the end of cooking, than something intended to go into / come out of a jar in the preserves cupboard.
* 1817 was well before stock / bouillon cubes, however "portable soup" was a Known Thing and could be a possible alternative. The recipe is specific about using fresh broth, but here's how to make portable soup, because You Never Know.
youtube
Real Wow Wow sauce had no hyphen, no sulphur, no saltpetre and definitely no grated wahoonie, though some "real" ingredients of the Discworld version - mangoes, figs, asafoetida, anchovy - suggest Terry was taking inspiration from labels in his own kitchen, such as those on HP Sauce, Worcestershire Sauce and Yorkshire Relish.
*****
Dr Kitchiner's "The Cook's Oracle" is available online from Gutenberg (the 1833 American adaptation) as well as a PDF of the 1822 UK Third edition from Internet Archive.
Here's his recipe - whose title, for extra interest, includes the original name for what became "Bully Beef":
Tumblr media
The good doctor's "pickled cucumbers" would have been vinegared like cornichons or gherkins, not brined like dill pickles. In addition, pickled walnuts are easier to find than they used to be; even the Tesco supermarket chain carries them...
Tumblr media
...as well as mushroom ketchup.
Tumblr media
You'd probably still need to make the other herb vinegars and the shallot wine (based on dry sherry), but those are easy, just a matter of steeping the herbs in the liquid for a week or so then straining off and bottling the flavoured fluid.
Another useful ingredient for period cooking is anchovy sauce, which is less, er, emphatic than full-on anchovy essence. You could always scale up if you like the taste.
This also has the advantage of being a pleasant - if you like fishiness - sauce in its own right; try a teaspoonful in a tablespoonful of EV olive oil then tossed with hot pasta. Yum...!
Tumblr media
This one's from the same company as the mushroom ketchup and the packing clearly emphasises their "period-ness" (is that a word?) The anchovy sauce is a bit harder to find, but well worth tracking down.
*****
Finally, here's a Youtube short of Wow Wow sauce being made and sampled. It looks entirely acceptable, like a cross between a thin chutney and a thick sauce, and would be, to use Dr Kitchiner's own word, "piquante".
youtube
As a side-note, that by-play with tinned corned beef was a bit pointless, since its texture and flavour are both utterly unlike beef that's been slowly, gently boiled (simmered, TBH) with halved onions, carrots, root veggies etc.
Use shin or silverside; the magic tenderiser for those cheap cuts is Time (or a pressure cooker) - though you can also add a sprig or two of Thyme if you want...

y'know, that does make me curious. sorry if you've talked about this before, but how do you feel about fics and ideas that just completely fuck up souyo?
like complete ego death, that's two different dudes, this is misrepresentative shuake level stuff?
Persona 4 is old enough as a fandom and as a property that I feel like it's inevitable. Atlus themselves also tend to waver a bit on characterization at times-- so it's not totally unacceptable that things vary so much.
Yu, as the player character, tends to get a little more leeway in terms of warbling characterization. But some of the worst outliers are when he's given a mean or domineering attitude. "Chad narukami" is kind of the worst thing to happen to the character.
Giving him that kind of attitude sort of negates some of his more endearing aspects, like his calm attitude, his endearing & pure love of his weird little hobbies, how much he loves his little sister or his friends. Or his love of Inaba as a place or a people.
One of the few things that will make me close a piece of Persona 4 fan work immediately Is to put the implication that Yu is perfectly fine with being away from his friends. Tbh If any wildcard is depicted this way, you're wrong actually. " He was grateful to go back to the city" my ass. But, in general all the different Yu variants are pretty great. From Level-Headed leader to kind of air-headed and everything in between.
Tho, I think the worst of it happens with Yosuke. Sometimes he's portrayed as incredibly like.. either timid and "uke" (I don't know another terminology that can portray what I'm thinking more succinctly than that) or completely stiff and inflexible and like...
I'm a big supporter of the idea that he has incredibly low self-esteem and self-worth issues but sometimes fics definitely go out of their way to kind of make it insufferable.
Another thing that does annoy me a little bit is when people blow the homophobia out of proportion. Like yeah- It's incredibly shitty behavior but.... Dude- he's still growing up. he's figuring shit out about himself and other people. He's also someone who is so desperate not to be alienated in a society that is going to crucify him if he acts a certain way-- and not just the gay one.
It's hard to remember that he's trying to impress his friends or establish an outward persona that will earn him admiration and respect. (Whether or not he actually gains that admiration through and respect is irrelevant) When the attitude he puts forward can be insufferable . But it is pretty clearly proven to be showy and false in his private interactions with Yu.
The worst violator of this in my opinion Is a story I read once where Yu had been so frightened or upset by Yosuke's homophobic attitude that he receded into Naoto and Kanji's company exclusively. It read like a fucking... Miraculous ladybug salt fic levels of ooc.
Oh and another thing... I'm not immune to a good woobie event or something that is absolutely dripping in that 2000s emo angst sauce (don't get me wrong I love a weepy emo yosuke as a treat) but What makes yosuke crying particularly poignant is that he's not one to cry. He goes out of his way to let things roll off his back and react to things with a smile and a wink (or even anger)-- which is why it's such a special scene that he cries so freely and lets Yu hug him.

Anyone else noticed this?
I really don't quite know how to formulate words to convey what I'm talking about in a way that doesn't make me sound like the most boring, shit-headed navelgazer, but, it's one of those things that, like, it's that nagging tiny bit of confusion that just won't go away, you're like waiting for that moment where you open the fridge door and suddenly just go "OH, I GET IT", but it hasn't arrived yet and it's looking less and less likely that it's ever going to happen, so, might as well send out my thoughts in the vain hope that someone can explain this to me. Still pisses me off just how much of a stupid thing to get this borderline obsessed over this is, but, man, I'm desperate.
So, like, basically everyone is familiar with the varying stages of, like, product placement in various places, and publicity stunts that every corp does from the tiniest startup to the huge giants who get sway in global politics. Like Mr. Peanut dying of septicaemia and then age regressing into a nutlet and then getting over it. The Mountain Dew-centric The Walking Dead episode. That one male BPD movie that was an elaborate commercial for Kraftwerk. The UK bread brand Hovis pivoting into beer and doing the annoying yeast connection and then getting it incorporated into the third season of Succession for all the alcoholism scenes. TF2 crossover items. It shows up in the weirdest ways, and sometimes it's "Char Aznable car" funny, sometimes it's sneaker war crimes. Gut punches and tummy ticklers.
Anyway, uh, I was with a few friends, playing the new Don't Starve Together special event. It's like a, I dunno some sort of "oh people are playing this game again, time to do a welcome back event to keep 'em coming" kind of thing, whatever, it's kind of neat, no weird season pass things just some cool largely aesthetic-only events that you can see if you frot a bush too weird. So like, I'm foraging, kind of just waiting around for everyone else to finish up with their really important thing they're doing, since I'd already finished up my chores like a handsome cherub of a boy boy, and I notice I pick up an item I haven't seen before. Some sort of junk, kind of thing you can probably refine into some basic resource, but I look at it, right? It's a can of Coca Cola. Like, unambiguously. Except, like, it doesn't say Coca Cola on it? Or even like, Coke? It just says "COLA'S" on it. That's weird, like, I heard they got this kind of brand deal, but why would they then just completely fake it for the joke, like McDoneits? And like. It's not uncommon to put references to things in item descriptions, it's cute sometimes. I read over this Coke can's description over and over again and I just can't fucking parse it. It just says, "WITH OR WITHOUT, CAN YOU TAKE IT?" It's some completely bullshit, absurd, over-the-top creepypasta "hyperrealistic blood from the eyes" type wording. Never seen it before.
So I like, look it up, boolean my DuckDuckGo searches, safe search off just in case, and it, like, takes me to just the regular old Coke website. On the front page, where they've got their current events and whatnot usually, it's just this huge diatribe about this new, "healing, feedback-responsive" re-branding effort they're doing? Which, first of all, makes no fucking sense. Like, the Pepsi UNIVERSE thing, where that one guy just went cummy about that peculiar and homely sphere, was unfathomable, but there was something comprehensible about it. And the time that the 7-Up Insurgency Split-off company made weird new flavors in celebration of their new creative freedoms like "CHERRY HELL" and "BLUE PINEAPPLE" and "CANDLEJACK SAUCE" and "TOP SHOT NASTY", a little unsettling, sure, but there have been weirder things. Like binky-inspired Victims of Communism merch you can buy to support your favorite loser and go sucksuck. "COLA'S" is just someone pretending to be excited the product, and they made it the new name of their whole company.
Whatever, I think, you know, I really don't care about what they do with their canned beverages and their skins, I won't be hocking any more or less loogies into strangers' cans while they're distracted by my long and awesome length, it really doesn't affect me. But nobody else is talking about this. It's, like, right on the website. I asked my friends, who I was gaming with in our TeamSpeak 3 polycule server (I'm not a part of any of that but like I'm cool so I get the member's pass) and they said they hadn't seen the item, so when they get back from chewing the cud I give it to them, and they pass it around like a biscuit, and they go "huh, weird". Completely reasonable reaction, the one I wish I could have had. I tell them this is apparently just the new great venture for Coke. They call me a retard, and it harms me a lot more than I made obvious because like, whatever, who cares? And I like, log onto my computer, and I send them screenshots of the Coke website. They call me a dumbass, it's fake, which humor man X account did I get this one from, when did I make this, dude we were gone for like five minutes what's your issue, you're pushing this way too hard. So I give them the link. They see it and then they go "okay". EUREKA! THANK GOD THEY UNDERSTOOD ME! WHAT WOULD I FOR MORE HAPPY!! But they kind of just leave it at that, they don't have much of an opinion about shit. That's why I'm not in the polycule, you know? Because I care.
Cut to the next day, we're not gaming anymore, I turned off your computer, I'm waking up from my new nightmare where no matter what I do I just can't stop that rat fuck Marley & Me from dying. I'm on my plane to my job at the biggest train on the country, I'm the one they let drive the train because I'm frequently the one so savant enough to track which button I have to push or lever I have to tug like a senior's pud to make the fuel squirt, the wheels whirl, the tracks widen, my fingers happen, the house on the other end of the house, and the pessengers hear my voice so I can tell them about the foods available at every station we'll be stopping at. Obviously I start my day at a train station, one of the ones at the very end, where the train is sheathed. First shift isn't until 20 minutes from now, so I'm just waddling around like a detective, get to see the guys who get paid to salivate on the walls so all the posters stick. Say hey, how're you doing, quite the weather to have, right? Yeah yeah, they say, kind of brushing me off like I'm a wasp but I slick back my wet hair and take it so cool. See the posters they're currently lubing up with tongue and buds.
It's a Coca Cola poster. An "old" one. Just completely normal. It's got "HAVE A COKE WITH THRUPPENCE" on it, like the good old days. I can hardly contain my anger. So I grab this guy by theHey guys does anyone have any recollection of this one TV show were it was, like, it wasn't Too Many Cooks, it was about these two guys where one of them was really, really huge, and the other one was about as tiny as a regular old thumbtack. I don't remember a damn thing about any of it, I'm pretty sure they just fucked around with recipes? Like one of them made a huge loaf of cake and the other one made a tiny little slab of cake instead, because he's approximately the size of a man if he were scaled exactly proportionately down to about two inches with like a ray gun or something. Heh. So like these chefs were, I think one of them could fly? I'm pretty sure it was the big guy who could fly and the small one could hop into one of his folds and travel around the world, helping people solve their cooking conundrums wherever they may end up. I don't think any of the lore of the show was all that well established in the show, they had too much action to get out of the way, it really sometimes did feel like they just, HAPPENED to show up at the place where someone gummed up their grandma's special recipe cup of spum. It really wouldn't surprise me if these charlatans were responsible for cursing all of these cooking appliances so they could engage in heroic deeds to spread their fame and famous, they really did seem like opportunists. Pinstripe personified. A real barberslop quartet.
At last, it's whatever, I'm completely spent, it's like, every single day for months and months goes like this, nobody's believing me, acting like I'm some kind of guy who cried hello, telling me like my information is at war because I'm conspiring about something stupid, it's just another day in the life of a monosexual. I'm getting the plane home and I have my check in hand, with all of those sweet, sweet dollars in my hands, the sweat from my palms is making the ink run but that's how I like it, give those thankless fuckheads at the bank something to challenge themselves with during their workday, I see them, always on my phone, looking at TEXTS, useing YOUBE. Yutube I mean. God, what would you do without me. You're kind of weird for ordering oinge juice with ice though, by the way. And your hair is dripping into my food. So, anyway, as I was saying, cokes just tugging my rump all the time with this shit. I don't wanna start going ME ME ME about everything but I'm fucking APPARENTLY the only guy in the world who knows anything about this, even though it's RIGHT FUCKING THEIR, and the COLA COMPANY, who is basicly like your teacher if you've lived in America, is just changing itself so weirdly and not even the lowest common denominator social meteor jokester is willing to go "uh, THIS just happened" about it. I can't fucking stand it, man! You can't just, do this to a guy. I'm fucking sick to my stomash. God. Oh, yeah, hey, waiter, any idea how long my mancakes will arrive? "Did I say pancakes", is that what you said? Yeah, that's what I said. Boing. Right, where was I, what are we here for... ah yeah, so like, I heard this Formula 1 thing is going well. Is that like a new thing? It seems really cool, nothing way cooler than a bunch of latex clad dudes sucking as fast as they can in big lead chambers of invisible fire. You think I could get into that? Like, I got my license when I was younger, zero points on it, I think there's no way that they can just refuse a guy fWait hold on what was that I said earli

Marmite is a British savoury food spread based on yeast extract, invented by the German scientist Justus von Liebig. It is made from by-products of beer brewing (lees) and is produced by the British company Unilever. Marmite is a vegan source of B vitamins, including supplemental vitamin B12. A traditional method of use is to spread it very thinly on buttered toast.
Marmite has traditionally been eaten as a savoury spread on bread, toast, savoury biscuits or crackers, and other similar baked products. Owing to its concentrated taste, it is often spread very thinly in combination with butter or margarine. It can be made into a savoury hot drink by adding one teaspoon to a mug of hot water, much like Oxo or Bovril. It is also commonly used to enrich casseroles and stews.
Marmite is often paired with cheese—for example, in a cheese sandwich or a cheese-flavoured biscuit such as Mini Cheddars. In the UK, Starbucks offers a cheese and Marmite panini. There are Marmite-flavored varieties of Walkers Crisps, and of some brands of rice cakes and biscuits.
Marmite has also been used as an ingredient in cocktails, including the Marmite Cocktail and the Marmite Gold Rush.
Celebrity chefs have created signature Marmite-flavored recipes: Nigella Lawson has one for Marmite spaghetti, and Heston Blumenthal has one for Marmite consommé.
In 2020, Marmite launched a campaign on Instagram—“The Great Marmite Experiment”—-encouraging people to share their Marmite-flavored recipes. The many entries in response included roast potatoes, beef Wellington and cookies.
In Malaysia, Singapore and Hong Kong, Marmite is enjoyed stirred into congee (rice porridge), and in an intensely savory Malaysian dish (local Chinese dish) called Marmite Chicken, consisting of fried pieces of chicken tossed in a Marmite sauce.

Day 14 - Viloria to Villafranca Montes de Oca
Just over 12.5 miles today according to the book and my phone is showing 13 so it’s there or there abouts.
We left at 7:30, after a breakfast which was a help yourself affair. It was cold and misty outside after a night of heavy rain and you couldn’t see very far.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The initial part of the path to Belorado wasn’t terribly inspiring as it followed a busy main road that had plenty of lorries thundering down it.
Tumblr media
Eventually the skies cleared up and it was cracking walking weather, cool and sunny. We stopped in Belorado for coffee and admired the wall paintings. Sometimes the sides of houses are painted a bright orange colour, and one we passed today had what looked like glasses sticking out.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
We eventually left the noise of the road and walked through the now familiar barley and rape fields for a while before stopping late morning at some benches next to a church for a break of biscuits and an apple.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
On the road up Jane had picked up a flip flop that had been dropped. We mentioned it to a Canadian who was just leaving the rest stop and was staying where we were, and he mentioned it to others and lo and behold the owner was found!
We changed out of our shoes into our sandals and carried on (it’s nice for our feet to be in something different), stopping again in the next village to go to the loo and have an ice cream.
Tumblr media
The path eventually came back to the road after some ruins. We dodged the noisy trucks to get through Villafranca to reach the hostel we are staying in by about 1:30. It’s a lovely place, mainly acting as a hotel but with a hostel attached which is immaculate. The beds are sturdy and we have both bagsed bottom bunks in a mixed room with 9 sets of bunks. Our lovely Korean friends Jacob and Lucia are in here too along with Alva from last night and Nicole, our Australian friend.
Tumblr media
Jane went for a coffee while I had a shower and did a bit of washing (by hand). Basically you take a shampoo soap bar with you that doubles for everything - hair, body, clothes. You just have to be careful to let it dry properly afterwards. I took one from the UK but it disintegrated pretty quickly, so have found a very good Spanish one.
After an hour or so of feet up we went for a couple of glasses of wine, meeting Alex and her dad from Texas that we realised were in Orisson at the start with us, and Alison, another American, in her 20’s, who has her own marketing company and is also a yoga teacher.
We stocked up on breakfast and snack stuff from the very small shop in the village, cake and fruit, as the first leg tomorrow is 7.5 miles up hill without facilities of any sort.
Tumblr media
Dinner tonight was the Pilgrim menu, and at 18 euros was quite steep, but it was well worth it. We both had a plate of broccoli cooked with a chicken and a cream and Parmesan sauce, I then had meatballs and Jane had cod, followed by crème caramel for me and rice pud for Jane, washed down with red wine. We were sat with Nicole and Alison and were joined by Pat, 68, from the US. The conversations became really wide ranging and philosophical.
This is now the end of week 2, and we’re 152 miles down, our daily mileage increasing to just under 12 miles a day. We’re settling into the walking and the routine, and enjoying the countryside and villages. However what is making it special is meeting all the different people along the way and hearing all their stories and perspectives on life.

The Secret Behind GBP/CHF & Capacity Utilization: How Smart Traders Use It to Win Introduction Ever wondered how some Forex traders always seem to know when a market is about to make a move, while the rest of us are left trying to figure out what went wrong after hitting "sell" instead of "buy"? We’ve all been there—like buying a sale item that you’ll never wear, or accidentally selling your position at the wrong time and watching the market drop faster than a Netflix show cancellation. But guess what? There's a trick to it, and it involves two unsung heroes in Forex trading: GBP/CHF and capacity utilization. Wait, what? A currency pair and an economic indicator? Sounds a bit niche, doesn't it? Well, buckle up because we're about to uncover how this dynamic duo can give you insider knowledge and ninja-level strategies for Forex success. Forget about random indicators or surface-level strategies; this is where the magic happens. The GBP/CHF: More Than Just Another Currency Pair The GBP/CHF is one of those currency pairs that traders tend to overlook in favor of flashier ones like EUR/USD or GBP/USD. However, this pair has some serious potential—like that quiet kid in class who ends up being the CEO of a Fortune 500 company. Here’s why: - Market Sensitivity: The GBP/CHF is highly sensitive to changes in global risk sentiment. When the market gets jittery, traders flock to safe-haven currencies like the Swiss Franc (CHF), but the British Pound (GBP) is a bit more volatile, meaning you can catch some serious price action if you time it right. - Eurozone Impacts: The GBP and CHF are both impacted by economic conditions in the Eurozone. However, the GBP is more exposed to the political landscape in the UK, and the CHF reacts more to economic growth in Switzerland. This gives savvy traders an opportunity to exploit discrepancies between the two economies, especially when the market’s attention is split. - Technical and Fundamental Combo: This pair provides the ideal playground for traders who use both technical and fundamental analysis. Price action may seem choppy at first glance, but once you understand the key driving forces behind the GBP and CHF, you can trade with precision. But Wait—What’s Capacity Utilization Got to Do With It? You might be scratching your head. "Capacity utilization? Isn’t that something economic nerds talk about at fancy dinner parties?" Well, it’s a little more practical than you think. Capacity utilization measures the extent to which an economy or industry is using its potential output. It’s like knowing how much space your closet has left after a shopping spree. If the economy is operating near full capacity, it means it's working efficiently. If it’s underutilized, there’s room for growth (or contraction, depending on the economy). So, how does this all connect to GBP/CHF? Here’s the secret sauce: - Economic Health: If capacity utilization in the UK is high, it signals that the economy is running at full steam—good news for the Pound (GBP). On the flip side, if Swiss capacity utilization is underperforming, the Franc (CHF) may weaken as Switzerland struggles to keep up with demand. By watching these figures, you can spot trends before they become headline news. - Central Bank Actions: Central banks use capacity utilization as a measure of inflationary pressure. A low level means the economy is underperforming, prompting central banks to act—possibly lowering interest rates or stimulating growth. But a high level could mean inflation is about to rise, leading to rate hikes. Understanding how central banks will react based on capacity utilization figures can give you a huge edge in predicting market moves. Unveiling the Hidden Patterns: How to Use This Info to Your Advantage Okay, now that we’ve got the basics down, let’s talk tactics. This is where the magic happens. Here's how to use GBP/CHF and capacity utilization to catch those game-changing moves: - Track Economic Data: Capacity utilization data for both the UK and Switzerland is often released on a quarterly basis. Keep an eye on these reports, and use them as part of your broader economic analysis. When one country’s capacity utilization is higher than the other, look for potential trading opportunities in GBP/CHF. - Watch for Divergence: A divergence between the two currencies—like if the UK is experiencing high growth while Switzerland’s economy is stagnating—can give you a massive edge. This is the kind of data that gives rise to trends in GBP/CHF. You might notice trends months before they become obvious, just by looking at these numbers. - Capitalize on Rate Speculation: As we mentioned, capacity utilization influences central bank decisions. If the UK’s economy is outperforming and capacity utilization is high, the Bank of England might signal a rate hike. This will likely push GBP/CHF upward, while a weak Swiss economy might result in a rate cut or further easing, dropping the CHF. Timing your trades around central bank speculation based on this data can make all the difference. The Hidden Formula Only Experts Use: Blending Technicals and Fundamentals Okay, enough about the basics. Now it’s time to talk about the expert-level stuff. You’ve probably heard the saying, “Price is King,” and while that’s true, the real experts know how to blend technical analysis with economic indicators like capacity utilization. Here’s how: - Use Capacity Utilization as a Trend Indicator: When you spot that economic divergence, pair it with a trend-following technical indicator like the moving average convergence divergence (MACD) or relative strength index (RSI). If you see an economic uptick in the UK while the technical indicators show bullish momentum, that’s your cue to enter a long GBP/CHF position. - Watch for Breakouts After Economic Data: If a surprising capacity utilization report drops, watch for market reactions. A strong report can push the GBP/CHF pair into breakout territory. By combining this economic insight with chart patterns like flags, triangles, or wedges, you can enter a trade with the wind at your back. - Risk Management is Key: With high-impact economic reports and technical setups, there’s a temptation to jump in headfirst. But here's where the expert traders separate themselves from the pack: smart risk management. Using stop losses, trailing stops, and proper position sizing ensures that you can capture the moves without putting your account at risk. The One Simple Trick That Can Change Your Trading Mindset I get it—you’re here for the inside secrets, and the reality is, there's no magic bullet. But here's the trick that makes the difference between successful traders and those who hit the “sell” button by mistake: Patience. Yes, patience. Waiting for the right moment to execute your strategy is often more powerful than rushing into every move. Understand the macroeconomic landscape, monitor capacity utilization reports, and let the market come to you. You'll be amazed at how much easier trading becomes when you aren't chasing every little tick. Conclusion: Reap the Rewards of Understanding GBP/CHF & Capacity Utilization So, what’s the takeaway here? GBP/CHF and capacity utilization might seem like niche topics, but when used correctly, they can help you stay ahead of the market and capitalize on trends that others are completely missing. Combine that with expert-level technical analysis and sound risk management, and you’ve got a winning strategy that can give you the edge in this highly competitive market. Now, if you’re ready to level up your Forex game, make sure to check out our exclusive resources, including live trading insights, advanced methodologies, and our free trading journal to track your progress. I've read that beans are usually undercooked & will later ferment to create bloating & others common complaints of eating chili and other dishes containing beans of some sort. Quite an interesting thread, thx for this @what-even-is-thiss

RE: Which country eats the most baked beans? the UK
Despite their American origin, baked beans are not as popular there. In fact, nowhere likes them as much as the UK – British people eat more baked beans than the rest of the world put together. Baked beans get their name because the raw haricot beans are baked in tomato sauce while inside the can.
Baked beans are not traditionally British. They were first introduced in 1901 by an American man, Henry Heinz, owner of the Heinz food company. In 1905, Mr Heinz started to advertise his baked beans as the perfect pre-cooked meal at the end of a long day in a factory. They were instantly popular. Despite their American origin, baked beans are not as popular there. In fact, nowhere likes them as much as the UK – British people eat more baked beans than the rest of the world put together.
Baked beans get their name because the raw haricot beans are baked in tomato sauce while inside the can. Originally the recipe included small pieces of pork, however during World War 2, they became vegetarian because of meat rationing. They have stayed like this ever since.
Most people eat them at least once a week, usually as a quick evening meal, but they are also popular for breakfast and lunch. If you want to try baked beans, British-style, heat them in a pan and serve them on top of a slice of hot buttered toast –maybe with some grated Cheddar cheese on top. Delicious.

here’s a video from the Indigenous Food Lab on how to make baked beans with indigenous N. American ingredients: @sleepy-giraffe thx, more spices is always great, citrus flavours of sumac & episode which is kind of bergamontish - key ingredient to Earl Grey Teas.
Ramp powder is a spice made from dried and ground wild ramp leaves, which are part of the allium family and are also known as wild leeks. Ramp powder can be used in place of garlic or onion powder, but a little goes a long way because it's very pungent when dried. Here are some ways to make and use ramp powder:
1.] Dehydrate: Wash, dry in dehydrator, pulverize into a powder. 2.] Store ramp powder in spice jar with desiccant to keep it fresh 3.] Sprinkle ramp powder on roasted meats or vegetables, mix it into sauces and dressings, or blend it with salt to make a custom seasoning. You can also mix it into soft butter for sautéing
Spicebush Berries: Spicebush is a medium-sized shrub, native to most of eastern North America. Some astute gardeners use it as an ornamental. But very few realize that the pretty red fruit is an outstanding spice that brightens up both sweet and savory dishes.
It grows best in part shade, and you’ll find it under beeches, oaks, and maples. It’s an excellent, low maintenance plant for a permaculture garden, but if you’re going to plant it, we should probably talk about sex. Like holly, spicebush is a dioecious shrub, which means male and female flowers are borne on separate plants. Both produce attractive flowers and fall foliage, but only the females have edible berries. If fruit is your goal (and if you’re reading this, it probably is), buy your shrubs in fall, when berries will be evident and you can tell who is who. You’ll need only one male for pollination (it can pollinate several females), but stock up on the lady plants.
How to Use: Spicebush tea can be made from fresh or dried leaves and twigs. It has a mild, chai flavor that is pleasant hot or iced. Notice I said pleasant. That’s my polite way of saying meh. It’s perfectly nice, but nothing to write home about.
Spicebush berries, on the other hand, will knock your frickin’ socks off. I cannot praise the flavor highly enough. I’ve heard people describe it as tasting like a mix of allspice and pepper, but to me, the flavor defies description. It’s spicy, complex, dark, has a little heat, and there’s something floral in there, too. Try it for yourself and see.
Pick the berries as soon as they turn red. The exact dates will vary with your location, but they generally ripen in early fall, and stay on the plant for several months. As long as the fruit is red, it’s good to harvest.

Canned Pasta Market: Exploring Opportunities in Emerging Markets
The canned pasta market has seen steady growth over recent years, driven by a combination of convenience, extended shelf life, and evolving consumer preferences. As consumers seek quick and easy meal options, canned pasta has positioned itself as an affordable and practical solution in busy lifestyles. The market is expanding not only in North America and Europe but also in emerging economies, where increasing disposable income and urbanization are pushing demand for convenience foods.
Market Trends and Dynamics
A major trend in the canned pasta market is the increasing demand for ready-to-eat products. Busy consumers, particularly working professionals and millennials, are increasingly looking for meals that require minimal preparation. Canned pasta offers convenience by eliminating the need for cooking, making it a preferred choice for a quick lunch or dinner. Additionally, the growing popularity of single-serving portions has driven the production of smaller cans, appealing to individuals and small households.
Tumblr media
Health and nutrition are other critical factors shaping the market. While canned pasta traditionally had a reputation for being less healthy due to high sodium and preservatives, manufacturers are adapting to the demand for healthier options. As a result, many brands are now offering low-sodium, organic, and preservative-free varieties of canned pasta. This shift has attracted health-conscious consumers who are looking for convenient meal options without compromising on quality or nutritional value.
Another growing factor is the introduction of innovative flavors and diverse pasta shapes. Canned pasta products are moving beyond the traditional tomato-based sauces, incorporating new and exciting flavor profiles such as pesto, Alfredo, and vegetarian options. This variety appeals to a wider consumer base, including those with dietary preferences and allergies.
Competitive Landscape
The canned pasta market is competitive, with several key players dominating the industry. Some of the most recognized brands include Campbell’s, Heinz, and Barilla. These companies have established strong distribution networks and brand recognition, making them leaders in the sector. They continue to invest in product innovation and expansion into new regions.
Private-label products also play a significant role in the market, with many retailers offering their own branded canned pasta at competitive prices. These private-label products often appeal to cost-conscious consumers, especially during periods of economic uncertainty.
E-commerce is another important factor in the market’s growth. Online shopping platforms have made it easier for consumers to access a wide range of canned pasta brands and varieties, allowing for convenient ordering and delivery. This trend is particularly popular during the ongoing pandemic, where more people are opting for contactless shopping.
Regional Insights
North America remains the dominant region for canned pasta consumption, driven by the U.S., where convenience foods are highly popular. Europe also plays a significant role, with Italy and the UK contributing significantly to the market. Emerging markets in Asia-Pacific and Latin America are witnessing strong growth, supported by increasing urbanization, changing lifestyles, and greater acceptance of Western food products.
Future Outlook
The canned pasta market is expected to continue expanding, albeit at a slower pace as market saturation increases in developed regions. However, the rise of new trends, including healthier and more convenient options, is likely to drive innovation and create new opportunities for manufacturers. Sustainability will also play an essential role as consumers seek products with eco-friendly packaging and ethical sourcing practices.
In conclusion, the canned pasta market’s evolution has been shaped by consumer demand for convenience, health-conscious products, and diverse flavors. Companies that innovate to meet these evolving needs while maintaining product quality are likely to succeed in this competitive and expanding market.

Everyone loves a burger. Well almost, there are some people who replace the beef with patties made from green stuff. Whether that is still a 'burger' is open to debate. Looking around the internet we across this monstrosity below; Containing almost 1800lb of beef (Thats over 700 quarter pounders) this was built to get into the Guinness book of records. It needed a custom built over creating out of a shipping container to fit it in, and comes with 300 pounds of cheese, tomatoes, onions, pickles, and lettuce, sandwiched in a 250lb bun. It is actually on the menu at Mallie's Sports Grill & Bar in Detroit, and costs nearly $8000. Realistically this was a one off burger. Created for a specific purpose. But what else is out there, on regular menu's and considered a normal burger, but comes with enough calories to shorten your lifespan for you pretty smartly. The Heart Attack Grill company make a number of burgers, with names such as triple bypass that contain upto 16000 calories. But this is a gimmicky burger joint, where the whole premise is you are eating unhealthy burgers. What about the regular chains. we are taking a look at what they place on the table; Wendy's Bacon Jalapeno Cheeseburger Triple 1330 Calories Made with 3 of their famous square patties, it comes with jalapenos, crispy fried onions, cheese and bacon (though being American cheese and bacon we use those terms in the loosest possible sense) and cheese sauce, lots of it. Weighing in at 1330 calories, it also packs a ridiculous two grams of salt, and 4.5 grams of that lovely, heart strangling trans-fat. Carl's Jr. Triple Western Bacon Cheeseburger 1380 Calories Clocking in at an extra 50 calories is Carl's Jr. offering. Famous for their adverts featuring skimpily clad models. Carl's als have a stake in the feed your customers to death stakes. This has almost three grams of fat, though is does cut the trans-fat score down a little, yay! Three charbroiled patties, two strips of bacon, 'American' cheese and crispy fries onion rings add to the experience. Hardee's Monster Double Thickburger 1400 Calories Tipping the scales at 1400 calories, this again has nearly three grams of sodium, but it has upped the Trans-fat score to level with Wendy's at 4.5 grams. 2/3 of a pound of beef, four strips of bacon, three slices of American cheese, and mayonnaise. To put it into perspective its recommended that you consume no more than 2300mg of sodium in a day, this has 2750mg. Wendy's Pretzel Bacon Pub Triple Cheeseburger 1520 Calories The iconic Wendy's square pattie makes a second entry in our list. Three patties, bacon, honey mustard, beer cheese sauce, fried onions, pickles and muenster cheese wrapped in a soft pretzel bun. This manages to break the 1500 calorie barrier at 1520 calories, though surprisingly, the sodium comes down a little to under two grams. Steak 'n Shake 7×7 Steakburger 1660 Calories We are jumping up the ladder rapidly now, with a 1660 calorie offering from Steak'n Shake. Seven beef burgers, along with seven strips of orange/yellow plastic stuff, sorry American cheese. Added to the calories are 3,800 mg sodium and a whopping six grams of trans fat. This one just looks a mess Whataburger Triple Meat Whataburger 1885 Calories Climbing ever closer to the magic 2000 calorie barrier, this one looks positively clinical at the side of our last burger. Three patties, layered with the ubiquitous American cheese, topped with a bit of salad. This nudges the 1885 calorie mark, but is surprisingly low in sodium at 2080 gm and only 3 grams of trans fat. (By low we are speaking relatively. It's low in the burger world). As they say 'Whataburger'! Burger King Bacon King 2020 Calories The first of our contenders to break the 2000 calorie barrier. Though the UK version of this is only about two thirds the size. two ¼-pound beef patties, a hearty portion of thick-cut bacon, American cheese, ketchup, and mayonnaise on a sesame seed bun, A full half pound of beef, thick-cut bacon, American cheese (again), ketchup, and mayo on a sesame seed bun, Over four grams of sodium and seven of trans fat. This is a whopper indeed. Heart Attack Grill Quadruple Bypass Burger 16000 Calories You only have to look at it. Nearly 16000 calories. God alone knows how much sodium, trans fat etc they have. It shortens your life just looking at it. All in all there are some real nasty heart attack burgers out there. Read the full article
