So, the DNAngel sequel (DDNAngels) was not on anyone's bingo cards, and Satoshi having canon kids TWINS EVEN was totally unexpected too (to me, very much hoped for, but totally unexpected).

But years ago I have created this future gen AU with Satoshi having fraternal twins (this is where im supposed to say 'called it,' but I'll spare you). But in my AU, Satoshi has one daughter who is very much like him lol.

Higurashi When They Cry Hou Ch. 7 Minagoroshi pt. 8

This part, I feel, is probably one of the most significant things to occur in the entire narrative.

In every timeline it's shown where Takano enters the storehouse Tomitake always hears the banging around and noises that Hanyuu makes. I mentioned it previously, but this means that he has the same disease that Satoko has, but unlike Satoko he seems unaware he has any such condition. And that's a really fascinating thing to think about in regards to the curse of Oyashiro. Does being able to hear Hanyuu have anything to do with Shion, Satoshi, Rena, and Keiichi hearing an extra footstep? Is she the extra step they hear? I think this might be too early to tell, but I think I'm onto something here. Of course that raises all sorts of other questions about Hanyuu and the curse if this is somehow down to a disease rather than a magical spiritual affliction.

We don't really get to see how they react to Rika telling them about their deaths on Watanagashi. It cuts from that last line of Rika to the end of a presentation Irie is giving to a room of other doctors and a man they specify is not wearing a labcoat.

I genuinely cannot believe that this series really is just turning into the X-Files. This reveal that Tomitake is apparently deeply involved with whatever scientific research Irie is conducting on Satoko and Rika knocked the wind out of me, I was really not prepared for it. In hindsight I guess they sowed the seeds that he might actually be a military man with the fact his design has dogtags. That and the fact he's buff as hell and looks like he'd be able to hand his own in a fight, but still I was blown away that Tomitake of all people was going to be the government/military man behind the conspiracy. Somehow despite having read all of the shit about the parasites, and government coverups from the end of Tsumihoroboshi not even a week ago I was still taken unawares by the military/government angle.

Now we're getting to the real horror of it all.

I know this is a terribly serious scene and all talking about how Satoko probably has brain trauma due to her abuse she took in 1982. But the sentence about how there's plenty of people with emotional trauma reminded me of one piece of merch I bought from that horrible Silent Hill Ascension web series. A coffee mug with the phrase It's Trauma! written on it in a ridiculously cheerful font. It's so tasteless, I had to buy it.

Takano is showing who wears the pants in this military, pharmaceutical, government conspiracy. Also, apropos of nothing, do you think Ryukishi liked Silent Hill 1? Do you think he liked Siren when that came out a year or so prior to this chapter coming out? I'm not saying he's copying anyone or ripping anyone off. I'm just saying, I played Siren as well.

Also I do wonder when this originally came out if he just hoped people would replay the earlier chapters in anticipation of the new one. Or if he was like "if they remember, they remember." Because Tatarigoroshi was how many years ago? Who's going to remember one or two throwaway lines from around the later half of that chapter all these dozens of hours and games later? I remember because I possess the rare ability to remember things, and also I have all the chapters available to me. But back in 2004, 2005? And with at least a year and a half between chapters?

I remember Irie calling in the Mountain Dogs to potentially keep Keiichi in the clinic before he escaped and went to dig up the area he buried Teppei. I think that he also mentioned Risa being dead around that time, and I don't think it's an inaccurate guess to assume Risa is Tomitake.

I like lines like this because of the little amounts of doubt it casts on earlier statements. The past few chapters have gone out of the way to try to establish that the Sonozakis are gentle as can be, and all that. Then Rika just casually mentions that Oryou Sonozaki is actually a monster, making you wonder just who's really telling the truth here.

Something I've noticed over the course of this chapter is how weirdly possessive Rika is towards Satoko. She never says it outright to where other characters can hear it (yet), but in her narration she does seem more and more like she wants to steal Satoko away. She's treating her less like a person, and more like her pet.

Also this chapter seems a lot more meta than the previous ones. There's a lot more fourth wall jokes than there were previously. I don't mind them so much, just an observation that with the recent change to a character who has lived out the times for a hundred years plus it seems a lot more willing to delve into these meta jokes.

In case you're wondering they're back at the toy store from the tournament scenes because they're trying to get donations for the auction at the Watanagashi festival. And they took a brief aside to learn how to do some legendarily epic mahjong cheating technique. Maybe it's because I don't know how to actually play mahjong but the description of the technique was just kind of confusing to me, and I don't know how it would actually work. Perhaps the manga version of the scene, being a visual medium, actually shows how the trick is done. But honestly up until somewhere in the 2010s I thought mahjong was a single player tile matching game. Taipei? I think that's what it was called in the Windows game option way back in the bygone days of Windows XP.

Satoshi X Risa Endgame = Krad X Risa?

Ya know, if Risa X Satoshi is going to become canon, I bet we’re going to start getting some Risa X Krad soon. Reasoning below the read more. 

Hear me out, there’s actually some basis on this one. 

Every one of the main characters in DNAngel comes as a set. Daisuke and Dark, Dark and Krad, Krad and Satoshi, Riku and Risa, and, in some manner, Daisuke and Satoshi. 

It’s been implied recently that the lines between Dark/Daisuke and Satoshi/Krad are becoming blurred, and that those that share a body might not be as separate people as some of them profess to be. Dark, to his credit, has always called himself a part of Daisuke, instead of referring to himself like his own person. So it stands to reason that if Riku X Daisuke and Risa X Satoshi are endgame, then as Riku will have to accept Dark as a part of Daisuke, Risa will learn to love Satoshi and Krad.

And so far, Riku has recently shown signs of loving all of whom Daisuke is, given that she felt jealous when Risa and Dark were dancing. So what I think is going to happen now(if Sato Risa is truly endgame) is that Risa is going to start exploring who Dark is more, but instead of exploring the Dark and Daisuke set like her sister, she’s going to explore the Dark and Krad set, because even more than Dark and Daisuke being parts of a whole, Dark and Krad are truly two parts of one whole. There’s been some kind of foreshadowing with this - she has already told Dark that no matter what he was she’d love him.

Also, I think that the whole purpose of Riku and Risa and them being twins is  to explore the different sides of the Dark Daisuke Satoshi Krad square. While Riku has to deal with loving Daisuke, then Dark, Risa will learn to love Krad, and then, from him, Satoshi. She just fell in love with Dark first because she started off as a little erm...petty... and also tbh Dark is a lot easier to love than Krad or Satoshi would be, simply because they are a lot...harder to talk to. 

As for the full endgame I think if Satoshi and Risa are to be, then that means in the end Dark and Krad will become a part of Daisuke and Satoshi permanently. Not that I can’t see other ways of doing it, but it seems to have more flow and make the most sense to me that way, with how things are currently going. ‘Course, since Sugisaki has only completed a few manga so far, and given that the only long running one is kinda hard to find the full series for (and is really confusing at the beginning tbh), I can’t really say how her narrative flow works in the long run, so whether or not all this will actually happen is hard to say right now. Not to mention that the series has been going on and off hiatus for so long that she might decide to change up the story a little in between each hiatus due to the popularity of different pairings and such. But. Yeah.

I just read the final manga chapters of D.N Angel and now my childhood is rushing back up to me 🥺 Can’t believe this series started in 1997, it’s been 24 years since then. That’s like 2/3 of my life!

I remember shipping Satoshi x Risa since vol 3 of manga, and I hung around patiently for years waiting for the series to progress so I can see this pairing to it’s completion. And (spoiler!) — it happened at last! I KNEW my shipper instinct wasn’t wrong!

Anime Favorito: Ansatsu Kyoshitsu es el que se lleva todas las palmas para mí, tengo muchos que me gustan como hunter x Hunter, Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood, Naruto o Steins Gate, pero Koro-sensei y su clase tienen un lugar muy, pero que muy especial en mi corazón.

Primer crush de anime: Estoy muy, pero que muy segura de que fue Ash/Satoshi de pokémon. ¿Por qué? No tengo ni la más remota idea, pero de pequeña me gustaba bastante. Supongo que era su perseverancia o su sonrisa. Me gustaba especialmente en Diamante y Perla, así que verlo perder contra Tobias para que luego me lo resetearan en Unova fue un puñal en mi corazón.

Crush de anime reciente: Kyo Sohma de Fruits Basket. No tengo palabras para agradecer que le hicieran un reboot al anime, porque por alguna razón la vieja adaptación nunca me llamó. El chico gato es demasiado lindo y verlo junto a Tohru siempre me hace gritar de emoción. No me leí el manga, así que solo espero que consiga el final más feliz de los finales :c

Primer anime: Pokémon, la primera temporada. Me dieron un peluche de pikachu antes de que siquiera tuviera conciencia, así que viendo en la tele que mi peluche aparecía me hizo quedarme prendada a la serie. El segundo estoy segura de que fue Card Captor Sakura.

Anime reciente:  Otome Game no Hametsu Flag Shika Nai Akuyaku Reijō ni Tensei Shiteshimatta... o Hamefura  fue el último que me vi. Es divertido, no grandioso, pero entretenido. Como persona que consume bastante otomes me hizo bastante gracia, más que nada el tema de la ruta secreta, aunque si habían partes que por más que lograron mover un poco mi corazón en su momento, en retrospectiva me resultan muy ridículas. Al menos debo decir que la estupidez de Bakarina es muy entretenida. Pd: Mary Hunt fue mi personaje favorito por las risas que me sacaba.
