satellite hours
Night pinches a held-breath note in
between the last skybloom and the heavy-
dimpled strawberry of June. This city spills her
flesh into parched hands, and the seam of sequined
chaos may be, might be, will be partly clouded by
misshapen voices. I hear the blink of oncoming hazard
lights, whispering across a rivulet of midnight black-
top. Buckets of rain sigh into stardust hushed
as a rose-gold moment. Sometimes, the red-
hot spring of an inner glow can be felt
mouthing across the lip, staining an incandescent
satellite, bleeding into the trill of nonsensical rhyme.
It’s all sirens and birdsong until
I wake to this the longest day of the year.

It was all a ruse, you pathetic little ant. For, you see, I, Seto Kaiba, was the mastermind the entire time!! Every single thing that's happened to you over the last 24 hours was orchestrated by me… and my insane mind! Yes, it was all me.
The whole thing cost me $750,000, and over eight months of planning, just to lead you right here into the palm of my hands!
But why ask you all the trite details when I already know every detail from my network of cyber rats! Yes, you might have thought those were regular rats you fool. Wrong.
He brings up a hologram map, showing a server building from the US.
Next, I’ll lead a KaibaCorp satellite on a trajectory to come crashing down into this building in approximately one hour. Then, the dark cosmic energy released from the satellite in the explosion will activate these powerful cards!
Onscreen, powerful cards appear. They look cool.
Now try and stop me!! Hahaha!!

Orikero blast attack!!! These fellas have been rattling around in my head for a couple months now. Lore stuff under the cut <3
It’s mentioned once or twice in the series that the planet Keron’s weather is controlled via satellite. I like to think the weather conditioning satellite (WCS) is less like an unmanned satellite and more like a space station, with crew both on the planet’s surface and aboard the satellite - constantly working to keep the installation up and running.
A weather satellite might seem like a huge deal to humans, but to Keron’s general public it’s regarded with about as much reverence as a power plant or water treatment center. It’s just a municipal service to them, and one they seriously take for granted! You can take tours of the satellite sorta like how one can tour money mints or chocolate factories here on earth. There’s a gift shop!
Rotada is the highest-ranking non-military crew member of the WCS, holding the position of head engineer. The WCS is her pride and joy, and even if she isn’t the station’s official captain, she’s pretty much the de-facto second in command. Often butts heads with the actual captain (Neneki) about what’s best for the WCS and its crew.
Kind, but not nice.
She knows just about everything that goes on around here.
Before working on the WCS, she was an engineer for an aerospace company.
Rocheche is one of the WCS’s many onboard scientists. He’s specifically in quality control - keeping an eye on the station's near-constant stream of data to ensure the planet’s artificial weather patterns are flowing smoothly.
The new guy.
Developing a caffeine addiction as we speak.
Fresh out of college and fought tooth and nail to get this job. "Per my last email" is his most often typed sentence this year!
Neneki is the WCS's captain and a warrant officer in the Keronian army. He'd been assigned to the satellite as punishment after being demoted from the rank of second lieutenant, but he's actually been enjoying himself immensely. He's not sure what to think about Rotada, and sometimes clashes with her if he feels she’s undermining his authority too much.
Easy-going. To a point...
Misses his wife. When's his next shore leave coming up???
Before being sent to the WCS, he served as an ambassador / negotiator for the Keronian Empire.
Neneki might’ve only gone down one military rank when he got demoted, but he essentially is a former diplomat sent to manage a municipal / scientific facility. Considering how much importance Keron assigns to military jobs… they did him dirty. At least he's having fun?
Junii is a tour guide, as well as a member of the satellite's PR team.
Chipper and friendly, shes pretty good at keeping kids entertained. Probably because she herself is easily amused.
Double-faced like a Janus cat. She is able to talk with both mouths at once, but since shes only got one set of lungs she runs out of air faster. She usually only does this as a party trick.
i quite literally just realized she looks like beta-design tamama. someone come and kill me right the fuck now

i wish tumblr was more like twitter where I could just scream my meaningless thoughts to the void inconsequentially whenever I want using short, haphazard text posts, but for some reason I have a deep, all-consuming fear of bothering my followers by filling their dash with low quality content. like theres a sense of foreboding that someone's gonna see my shitty text post and have it be the last straw before they unfollow me—I mean why dO I CARE... but i do...

hayyyy. I just rlly gotta let u know that I have been frothing over ur space-hermits au ever since I first laid eyes on it 😭 I looked up the songs u recommended for it as well (launch and sweet pain) and its just. wowee. I forgot how much I like space and u just threw the hermits into it so now I like it even MORE.. and I love it being centric around jimmy+skizz+impulse for now those three are at the absolute top of my list (and ur art style is lovely).
alr rant over. ty for being so creative lol 🥰
AWWWWWW I'M SO SO HAPPY TO HEAR THAT!!! This thing has been rotating in my brain for over 3 months now and it brings me so much joy, so thank you for sharing!! It means a lot! <3
It starts off as Skizz&Jimmy-centric, but supposed to be more like GIGS-centric | Etho&Bdubs-centric further down the line. It's not like it's all about them, just that it's easier for me to tell the story I have in mind through their interactions
(So glad you've enjoyed the music, too!! It inspires me a lot and adds so much to it, I think)

I'm making a map of old train routes and looking at all these historical maps and bc woe.begone takes up 50% of my brain I'm thinking abt how the various time travel agencies gather data on other time periods. Like. There's a surprising lack of old data available in modern formats. I thought that someone would have digitized these old maps and made GIS compatible files. The time travel organisations must have extensive departments for converting existing data to formats that are useful for time travelling. Or! They could send satellites back in time and gather the data themselves.
So my new theory is that most ufo sightings are actually recon satellites from the future

“We won’t have the exact contact times for the telecommunications satellite until next Monday.”
… it’s a satellite. If you know exactly where it is now and what speed it’s orbiting at then knowing when it’s going to pass directly overhead of a specific location is just a series of math problems.
