You know as someone who prefers more steampunk/neutral designs for jewelry, has a pixie cut, and dresses primarily in boots and long jeans and and dramatic classic styles, why is so difficult to convince salespeople I don't prefer sparkly or overtly feminine jewelry designs?

A word-for-word convo I had today with a silver jewelry salesperson:

Me: I like more neutral designs that aren't sparkly or flowery etc *picks up an industrial-looking matte silver ring*

Her: TRY THIS ONE *shows me a bedazzled bow design*

Me: As I said, I don't like anything too sparkly.

Her: THIS ONE *shows me a ring entirely made of hearts strung together*

Me: ...I don't like hearts, but thank you.

Her: IT DOESN'T LOOK LIKE HEARTS FROM A DISTANCE

Me, silently: You're being serious. You're actually serious right now. My stud earrings are in the design of daggers for frick's sake

I swear this happens every time I go shopping. I know where I'm from in Asia the overwhelming fashion trend for young women is very classically long-haired pretty dress flowery sparkly jewelry but why is it so difficult to exist apart from that. When I cut my hair short for practical reasons everyone in the department asked if I had a long term boyfriend I just broke up with

Opinions on purses?

They are convenient for carrying rations, honey and other useful items but I think they should be more fire resistant.

I really think thigh/hip/drop leg bags/purses should be more popular. More stylish fanny packs and you don't have to constantly worry about setting it somewhere like a purse/satchel.

And they absolutely work for men too. I rarely ever see them, yet they seem like they would be a fantastic solution for your everyday essentials. Personally I don't generally need to carry much every day and have found a way to distribute my edc gear into various pockets. There are times when I've needed to keep more items on my person due to medical reasons so I got a small backpack/satchel, but it is larger than necessary and annoying to have slung over my shoulder. I feel like these drop leg style bags would be especially useful for people who need to carry medical equipment when they leave the house, like epi pens, diabetic equipment, etc.

I just think they're neat.
