Drew a picture early for Halloween (just in case I forget to post)
Alberta, Sask, and Ukraine are doing a group costume (which the theme is spies, maybe sci-fi kind? I dont really know) it was also an excuse to draw Ukraine with multicoloured hair again :3

I may or may not make a sequel drawing, depends if I feel like it.

I was stumbling around on the internet on one of those sites that basically feature really nice pictures of really hot naked girls. I like those kinds of sites and sometimes lose track of time a bit on them. Anyways, that's where I found pictures of Viktoriia Yarova, and subsequently made this poster. Aside from the fact that she has perfect tits (which you can easily fact-check above), I also found out she's Ukrainian. So, I used that knowledge to do a subtle flag in the background. I heard a podcast the other day about a guy from Saskatchewan who just went off to Ukraine to help because he has family roots there. So, thankfully there are good people in the world trying to help. I'm just making posters of hot girls to create awareness? I know, weak sauce. I'm not the hero that the guy from Saskatchewan is, I know that. Sorry.

*doxes ocean and Mischa’s backstories again*
"Mischa was conceived in a little town outside Odesa in Ukraine by a factory worker named Tamara. His mother, after being part of the clean up crew in Chernobyl, was dying of prolonged exposure to Uranium. Wanting her son to be safe, she decided to put him up for adoption—forging his birth certificate, she claimed he was two years old, and was recently potty trained. When Mischa came to Canada, his adoptive parents were surprised to see their toddler had five o’clock shadow, and a slight trace of alcohol on his breath. They put him in the basement, and his adoptive mother would prepare food and leave it for him on the top of the stairs. On the rare occasion he would run into his new parents—the mother would weep, and the father would shoo him away like a horsefly. So began an inexhaustible rage. He turned to the last bastion of pure strength and masculinity in society: self-aggrandizing commercialized hip-hop. This is how Mischa became, the angriest boy in town."
"Ocean was born into a family of far left-of-center humanists who moved to northern Saskatchewan to live a carbon free lifestyle. The hemp needlepoint sign above the household toilet read, 'If it's yellow, let it mellow. If it's brown, scoop it out with your hand and put it in the compost'. Yet in-between all the drum circles, Marxist parables, and cheese sandwiches made from human breast milk, Ocean could never shake the feeling she was the white sheep of her family. It was only at the age of 8 when she found amongst her parents' record collection an album called 'Up with People'. The cloying positivity of this pro-capitalist gaggle of teen crooners brought tears to her eyes. Perhaps the peppiest thing Haliburton has ever produced. High school president, Straight A student. Ocean O'Connell Rosenberg: the Most Successful Girl in Town."

Note
Huge question: For a weeb, how much do you know about international politics and should what you say on them be considered? If you're so against the injustices of this world, why don't you do anything to make your own country better? Or are you a hypocrite savior complex?
I'll answer an ask from two and a half years ago for funsies. Imagine you are a wheat farmer in the US midwest. You've never left the tristate area. Your parents worked this farm, your grandparents, going back to sickles and carts and land grants from the federal government.
You know some things: your wheat, your field, your state, your market. You have your lane.
However you are not separate from the rest of the world. Overseas markets can make wheat at higher yields and lower costs than you. Ukraine, Saskatchewan, Mongolia, etc can undercut you. You learn more about this and how it affects you. Tariffs, taxes, free trade, etc. You find yourself learning more and more about these things, how they interconnect with everything from cars, to how houses are built, to how the entire society is structured, and how much it has changed from 30, 40, 50 years ago. You go down a rabbit hole learning about "twenty foot containers" and "chicken tax" and learn you are not just some biological unit working a field, you are part of a vast, interconnected woven fabric we call the modern global society. That what you do and say and try all matter in some way. Just like some protest half a world away eventually affects you, you can affect things on the other side of the world, whether on purpose or by accident.
You begin to understand this on a fundamental level, even threshing wheat or lubricating a bearing on your tractor feels consequential.
Every brick you see was handled by a human hand. The result and consequence of a person's labor. You have eaten the fruit of knowledge and it will affect you for the rest of your life.

Summary: Mischa and Talia Meet in person for the first time
୨୧ Talia's POV ୨୧
︵‿୨♡୧‿︵‿︵‿୨♡୧‿︵‿︵‿୨♡୧‿︵‿︵‿୨♡୧‿︵
How did I end up in Uranium City, Saskatchewan? Well, It's complicated at most. Due to the damned war in my home country of Ukraine, I had to flee. I had to leave behind everything I knew to start my life in Warsaw, Poland. and I don't even know an ounce of Polish! But luckily I knew that my internet fiancé, Mischa was living in Canada. About a week ago I texted him asking if I could come live with him, and surprisingly he said yes! I was over the moon! As soon as I heard him give me the green light, Immediately started packing, I was going to meet my the love of my life in person in two days!
The day finally came, June 19th. I was in the Warsaw Chopin Airport, checking all of my information like my passport, boarding pass, ID, and just making sure that I didn't leave anything back at my hotel. I texted Mischa that Saturday morning
Моя любов, я в аеропорту. До зустрічі! (My love, i'm at the airport. see you soon!)
My phone dinged with a notification, it was from Mischa. I read the text, and that simple message put butterflies into my stomach
Я люблю тебе Талія, до скорої зустрічі (I love you talia, see you soon)
In my mind I was basically jumping up and down, I just can't believe i'm going to see him in person! I'm so happy! after one last text, I hopped on the plane. I had already gone through TSA, bag checking, and I even bought some cologne for Mischa at Warsaw's duty free.
The flight felt like an eternity, I was just so anxious and so excited to see Mischa. I mean we had face timed before, but that was nothing compared to being able to hug, kiss and embrace him. To kill time I just closed my eyes and I just fell asleep, dreaming of him.
A plane announcement woke me up "Ladies and Gentlemen welcome to Uranium City Saskatchewan, the current time is 3:15 AM." I was shocked, I had slept the whole time!? No way! but i was overjoyed that the hard part was already over! After we all hopped off of the plane, I was a little annoyed. I couldn't see Mischa yet because I had to go through customs, damnit! how much longer do I have to wait to see mischa!? Luckily for me, I didn't have to wait long, the officer looked at me and he began to ask me questions.
"What's your name?"
"Natalia Muruska Bolinska."
"Why are you visiting Canada?"
"Because my boyfriend lives here and i'm moving in with him"
Where will you be staying?
"my boyfriend's apartment."
Who will you be visiting?
"My boyfriend, Mischa Bachinski."
Because of my honesty, the officer gave me a VISA on my passport. Finally, it was done. when I got out of customs and into the main hall, I saw a familiar face. It was him! I lost my composure and I ran, throwing myself into his arms. Mischa smiled at me wiping my tears of joy away with his thumb.
"MISCHA!" I exclaimed, smiling as I felt truly happy for the first time since fleeing Ukraine. I kissed his cheek, giggling.
"TALIA!" He said in a truly happy tone, as he buried his face in the crook of my neck. "You're real, you're really here!" He said, crying tears of Joy
Finally after ages, his dark green eyes looked into my almond brown eyes, I smiled, hugging him tightly like I didn't wanna let go.
"You're just as beautiful as I thought you were." Mischa said, putting a strand of my brown hair behind my ear.
I smiled, feeling this warm, fuzzy, feeling inside. And that was just what I thought it was, just pure, and honest love for him.
"oh yeah, I got you these." Mischa smiled, handing me a bouquet of gorgeous red roses, my favorite flowers.
"My love, you didn't have to get me anything!" I giggled, smiling at him
"But I just had too!! Talia You deserve the world, princess and i'm going to make sure you get the proper trearment
"c'mon Talia, let's go get your bags and then i'll take you home." Mischa smirked, taking my hand"
"Let's go, loverboy." I smirked back and I felt happy knowing that we were finally together as I started walking to the garage, suitcase handles in my hands.
He paused, turning me around to face him I was confused, but then I knew damn well what he was gonna do.
" я тебе люблю (I love you), Talia.."
"я тебе теж люблю (I love you too), Mischa..."
Something just came over me and I gave him the most passionate kiss ever, we were finally united for good.

A 'The Craft' and 'Ride The Cyclone' crossover!
( p.s, i wrote this at 3am and it kinda sucks! also, i do kinda fan ship mischa and nancy here lol. ITS THE WHOLE POINT OF THIS! no one else from The Craft is mentioned here, i would finish it but idk- )
|~Nancy Downs, a girl with, some might say, powers. She prefers the word witchcraft. A witch who lives in Uranium City, Saskatchewan, who would have thought! She went to Saint Cassian Chamber High School, a really empty school. That was only on the weekends when she had choir though. Yeah, she is in choir, what about it? Nancy was forced to by the principal, saying that she would be expelled if she didn’t. She didn’t want to, she had to. The choir didn’t really care for her, they were scared of her. Well, except for Noel, Penny, and Mischa. Mischa’s care for her was special, though. He cared for her in a romantic way, not a friend way.
Just the way she was so cynical and miserably charming made him feel some sort of way. She often practiced her witchcraft at choir practice, because she wasn’t near anyone who would burn her at the stake. Usually she practiced in the corner of the choir room. Mischa would watch her, admiring her practices.
Despite his culture being very unwelcoming of witches, he didn’t mind her witchery. He loved it as a matter of fact. Mischa came up to Nancy, being careful still. She looked up from her spell book and tilted her head,
“Do you need anything?” she asked, carelessly. He fidgeted with his hands,
“Uhm, can I… sit with you?” he questioned, fixing his hair.
“Sure..” Nancy said, closing her book. He sat down next to her, visibly nervous. He was not scared of her, he was just slightly.. Intimidated by her! “So, why’d you sit next to me... of all people?” she asked, looking at him.
“Because you seem really cool and stuff. I never talked to you before, so I wanted to introduce myself.” Mischa said, taking out his slightly sweaty hand for her to shake. “My name is Mischa Bachinski, It is a pleasure to meet you.” he says, smiling awkwardly.
“My name is Nancy Downs, pleasure to be met.” she says, shaking his hand. She gets something out of her bag and gives it to him. “Here, it’s Jaspillite. I hear it’s a national gemstone of Ukraine.” Nancy explains, smiling at him with her gorgeous teeth. He blushes at her knowledge of his home country.
“Thanks..” he says, putting it in the small pocket in his backpack. She moves closer to him.
“I smell lavender. Is that you?” Nancy asks, smelling his hair slightly. Mischa is blushing brighter than before and says, “Y-yeah..”
“Are you scared of me? I mean.. Who wouldn’t be!” she says, reasoning with him.
“N-no.. just.. Slightly intimidated, that’s all!” he says, trying to hide his blush. She smiles and puts her hand on his shoulder, making Mischa snap his head back towards her. Nancy smiles and says,
“You’re really cute.” Mischa nods.
“I am glad you think that!” She looked slightly confused.
“Don’t you say ‘thank you’ or something after a compliment?” Nancy asks, tilting her head.
“Well, yeah. I was actually going to return the favor.” he moves his voice to a whisper and says, “You are drop dead gorgeous.” Mischa kisses her hand and smiles gently. Nancy looks surprised and blushes. He scoots closer to her and says,
“I have been admiring you from afar for a while..” Nancy leans in closer to his face.
“What are you? A stalker?” she asks, jokingly. He laughs and says,
“No, not quite! Just an observer of you.” Nancy blushes at his statement and holds his hand. She has never felt this way before, almost a whole new feeling unlocked in her mind. Love.

Mennonite Toponymy - How do Mennonites Name Their Places?
Tumblr media
Today begins Canada's Mennonite Heritage Week, which occurs anually during the second week of September. In light of this, I decided to analyze the names of Mennonite-founded (specifcally Russian Mennonite-founded) settlements to see what they have in common.
In short, they are quite simple. Mennonite-founded settlements are typically named and officially documented in High German (also known as Standard German) with two components: an adjective (sometimes geography-related) and a landform. Mennonite-founded settlements also often have Plautdietsch (the Mennonite Low German dialect) pronunciations, presumably used when speaking in Plautdietsch.
A few prominent examples are below:
Steinbach, Manitoba, Canada
Meaning: “stony brook”
“Stein” functions as both “stone” and “stony”
Bergthal, Bergthal Colony, Russian Empire (now Respublica, Ukraine)
Meaning: “mountain valley”
“Berg” in first position (rare)
“Thal” in second position
Grunthal, Manitoba, Canada
Meaning: “green valley”
Does not add “e” after “u” to replace “ü”
Also has Plautdietsch pronunciation: “Grientol” (/ˈ jrintol/)
“Thal” in second position
The rest of my examples are below (complete with annotations) and yes, they are all from either Ukraine and Canada - they have the best examples I could find that are Mennonite settlements specifically named by Mennonites - some Mennonite settlements in Latin America retain the Spanish names of the plots of land that they bought and others were named by/after non-Mennonite founders, such as Winkler, Manitoba, Canada. But anyways, here are the examples under the cut - but warning, it's rather long!
Blumenort, Manitoba, Canada
