It's happening guys! Kuutar Top is off the needles and on the blocking mat. Here's hoping I remember to take actually photos in it too. Such an addictive pattern. by Sari Nordlund. (And she's released the pattern for the Rococo Top today! I can't decide if I think that top is way too much or if I wanna do that one too. Haha! Summer tops are so much fun and quick knits.)
(P.S. I'd really like to be done with the move now. I can't remember a life where I wasn't packing every day...)

i finished this a week ago and forgot to upload help
Pattern is Poetry Pullover by Sari Nordlund. a very fun pattern. also the texture on this thing is a m a z i ng it does that thing when flat where the light bounces off each part of the stitch pattern where it looks like that rhombus cube pattern and its a thin enough sweater for the weather right now and ahhhhh
i have two more sweaters on queue for the first half of the year and then i'll be free but until then i feel like a dapper lil guy
(also the mat was warping so here's me and my husband's board game collection holding it down)
#knitting#knitblr#sweater#knitwear#i uh. am almost done with the third sweater on queue#thats both how long i delayed posting this update and also how much im neglecting my hand health help#also you can see where i put the pins for the blocking a little too much. they poke out. i'll... i'll figure that out later...

Throwback Thursday
"Birthday Hats"
My family surprised us by visiting around my cousins' birthdays, so I wanted to quickly throw together a knit gift for them.
And for some reason I thought colorwork would go faster.
In a way it did, I think beautiful colorwork patterns are great motivators. But also it was so hard to part with this hat, I used such cozy yarn and it haunts me that I gave it away. 😅
This was a little more mottled than the dinosaur hat, but also this cousin wasn't as extra as his brother, so I don't think he minded the muted motif so much..

@sensacetionalshady asked for Tom Cassidy and Cain Marko for the knitting ask game!
Tom Cassidy | Black Tom Cassidy
continuing my trend of modeling Tom after my grandad- my grandad had a cardigan very similar to this and I know in my heart that Tom is that old man with a cardigan, and I'd probably add leather elbow pads to this
The Book Club Cardigan by Sari Nordlund
I'd knit it in Ballad from Bad Sheep Yarns
Cain Marko | Juggernaut
I went with a sock pattern for Cain, because I'm currently in the process of writing a Cain Marko learning to knit fic and the idea of him trying not to break or bend DPNs is ENDLESSLY ENTERTAINING to me
Cindy's Choice Socks by Isabelle Kraemer
Knit with, Kennicott and Feather from Bad Sheep Yarns

july wrap-up!
mini mock neck, book club cardigan
mini mock neck by jessie maed designs
yarn: explorer knits + fibers denali sock in granada (+ olive grove)
finished this little tank a couple weeks ago and ended up getting more length than expected out of the yarn i had. will probably end up making more of these at some point because it was quick and cute but i might size down next time for a bit more negative ease but i didn't check my gauge after blocking so that may have been off.
book club cardigan by sari nordlund
yarn: knit picks wool of the andes in shire heather
i think this is the oldest sweater quantity of yarn that's just been sitting in my stash and i've always known i wanted it to be a cabled cardigan but could never settle on a pattern. as soon as i saw this one, though, i was in love. i'm also enjoying the process of knitting this a lot more than i thought i would, it's enough to keep my brain engaged but intuitive enough that i'm not constantly having to refer to the chart. love this project!
i didn't touch my lily sheer top because it's been stupid hot and i just cannot be bothered to knit with mohair. also because the book club cardi has taken over.

We are once again joined in the round. This time decreasing
I sometimes question my sanity because why the hell did I choose to knit this fucked up sweater construction on such tiny needles? And then I remember that the ribbing is made on my favorite needles and this will be the lightest warmest sweater in existence and then I remember. But seriously what the fuck 576 stitches is evil sari nordlund why would you do this to me

It has begun! Kuutar Top by Sari Nordlund. Slow and complicated knitting at its best.
Using weaving yarns (cotton) I've found in some second hand. 2 threads 20/2 and 2 threads 16/2, all held together.
Also, is it just me that finds weaving yarn (cotton or linnen or a mix between) are much easier and more pleasant to knit with than actual cotton/linnen yarns meant for knitting? They're not as slippy and my hands don't hurt after knitting with them at all as opposed to "meant for knitting"-yarns.

Cast. Off. Gift. 1!!!!
They still need to be blocked (I am waiting on some sock blockers I ordered that I cannot wait to show off), but they are Off The Needles™️ and I truly do not have words for how relieved I am/how tired I was off that pattern by the last 20 rows.
But! This marked my first time doing anything remotely sock-like, my first time using DPNs, my first time reading a chart (successfully)...I learned so much and thus I am so grateful to these dumbass yoga socks. Plus when I realized I had the full chart memorized not stitch for stitch but simply by understanding the nature of what the pattern actually WAS??? It was truly like when Emmett from the lego movie became a master builder ok I was seeing EVERYTHING
anyhoo
I've got more to do but signing off for now--

The Great Knitted Christmas Gifts Bonanza of 2024
(Working title)
Besties and beloved mutuals, welcome to the chaos.
This will be wacky. Zany. Incredibly boring at times and possibly excessively dramatic for no reason at all except my (and hopefully your) amusement. We will laugh! I will cry! We will perhaps commiserate over things and also I will aggravate my carpal tunnel! I will ask for advice on things I don't know how to do! I will make polls because audience participation is enrichment for me! Good shit good shit let's get started
At the time of writing it is September 18, 2024, also known as 98 days before Christmas Eve, which will heretofore be known as The Deadline™️. I have, at present, four family members for whom I am making gifts. Now you may be thinking "Kay, that's only four people. That does not warrant a big post." But I'm making one anyway so here we goooo
PERSON #1
Mom. I already decided on my mom's gift, she's getting a shawl. It's my first shawl and I'm kinda geeked about it. It's the Cosmos Textured Knit Wrap from Mama in a Stitch
(photo taken from Mama in a Stitch's website I hope that's ok??)
Yarn is Red Heart worsted weight acrylic in Royal. Now here's the situation: I haven't made a wearable with acrylic yarn in awhile and I wasn't a huge fan of how it felt last time. But I know people do it literally every day, so: when the time comes I will be soliciting advice on how to make it soft and comfy. Plus I hate blocking and I'm gonna have to block this so yay growth!!
PERSON #2
My sister. Adorable, likes a pastel, super long hair, so I was thinking...scrunchies? And then I was thinking scrunchies are not necessarily on the level of gift I was aiming for so I thought...scrunchies + matching leg warmers (babydoll goes to the gym sometimes so i thought it would be cute)? And then. AND THEN. Was scrolling Pinterest instead of sleeping and I found these!!!
Now there are pros and cons
Pros:
I have been wanting to knit lace
I have been wanting to knit socks
Cons:
I have no experience knitting lace or socks
Oh well f*ck it we ball! Will still try to match the scrunchies to the socks. Send thoughts/prayers/advice/yarn recs, because idk what I am doingggg
PERSON #3
My brother. So, at the first of the year I started knitting a blanket kind of just because--I really liked the pattern and I wanted the feeling of starting something new in the new year. In April I decided it would be a gift for my boyfriend at the time, in May it became too hot to knit with wool, and in July the relationship ended. My brother has expressed interest in a blanket from the same pattern and has offered to take this one off my hands. I'm about 3/4 of the way done. Should be an easy gift, right? Maybe I'll throw in a matching pillow?
However, I once promised to make him this sweater:
(image snagged from the MomentsinTwine Etsy shop)
I bought the pattern, I bought the yarn, and I never delivered. (I started it and frogged it twice because my gauge was so so off.)
So uhhh PLEASE do the poll I need help deciding. Yarn would probably be a golden yellow wool blend, because that is the color he wanted 3 years ago and if I ask for an updated color choice he'll know what I'm working on 😭
PERSON #4
My dad.
Y'all.
I have no idea what to do for this man. He is a very classic "I don't want anything" person, and I am a classic "Must. Give. Gift." person. So already, times are tough!! What am I supposed to knit this man???
So I was thinking slippers-- I found a pattern for Woodland Loafers on Ravelry (pattern by Claire Slade) and I thought they were adorable. But then I was thinking why not make a whole, like, cozy care package? So I thought slippers, mug rug + mug cozy, maybe something else? He likes music, he likes to relax and watch his lil shows, he likes M*rvel?? Open to so many suggestions babes.
So...yeah. That's the show. I'll update as I go along, and if you're ever curious about how things are going or want to bully me about not making progress, please nudge me!! Sorry this was so long okay bye

Finished!! After letting this yarn sit in my stash for somewhere around 11ish years, I knit up this sweater in about a month. Pretty happy with how it turned out. I slightly cropped the length to wear it over dresses and I shortened the sleeves to elbow length (because whenever I wear long sleeves I just push them up to my elbows anyway). I used 13 of the 20 skeins I had in stash. I think maybe I’ll make Frankie a matching sweater with the leftovers. 📖 Pattern: Marzipan Pullover by Sari Nordlund Yarn: Valley Yarns Lenox in the “Sea Spray” colorway #sharppointysticks #knit #knitter #knitlife #knittersgonnaknit #knittersofinstagram #knitstagram #knittersofig #knitting #nevernotknitting #instaknit #igknitters #knitters #yarn #yarnlove #knittinglove #knitlove #alwaysknitting #castonallthethings #stashbusting #stashdash (at Westford, Massachusetts) https://www.instagram.com/p/ChuzrDTJZSV/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
