giraffes tongues are 10-18 inch long (depending on how tall the giraffe is) and are purple to protect them from the sun!! they stick them out and wrap them around tree branches to strip the leaves off!

acacia trees have developed both long thorns and a symbiotic relationship with a species of ant to fend off would-be snackers, the giraffes do not care about this lol

they're ruminants like cows and have four stomachs too!! they swallow all their food and save chewing for later, when they feel more safe

they sleep about 30 minutes a day!!!

(can you tell I was just working with the giraffes lol)

the harpy eagle’s talons are the same size as a grizzly bear’s claws!!

crows recognize human faces and will tell other crows about people that could pose a threat!! they basically gossip about us!!

there used to be a species of parrot native to north america called the carolina parakeet that specialized in eating cockleburs, sandspurs, and thistles (yummy!) but they are sadly no longer with us :(

SATURDAY SALUTATIONS

RIP, Jimmy Buffett. He was as much a part of Florida as ant hills, manatee, sandspurs, and key lime pie.

I had dinner with friends yesterday and that was nice, despite fighting a swarm of bees for my meal. The waiter said they like steak and bacon but I suspect they were attracted to my vinaigrette.

I stopped to gas up the FJR and it sputtered a little when I tried to start it. The electronics reset themselves too- the trip odometer and the clock. I'm not sure if this is my warning that the battery is about to die or it was a momentary glitch, maybe a short. The Mean Streak's battery is under the seat, this one is hidden inside the fairing and not easy to get to at all. Ugh.

I had planned to stop by Trader Joe's and get some groceries but I didn't want to take a chance and came straight home. I'll take the car today and stock up on my salad fixins. It's raining so I don't mind four wheels as much this time.

We've had Discovery Plus but haven't been watching it much lately so I replaced it with Max. It has Rick and Morty and South Park so I'll be entertained for a while. I watched the Flash movie last night. It was okay, but also got five stars for bringing back Michael Keaton as Batman.

Now if you'll excuse me, I have a Saturday to do.

Hope is a thing with wings, I’m told, and this state is chock-full of birds as well as mosquitoes. We experience the pleasure and the pain simultaneously. I want to fight for the home that I love, and that means staying here, regardless of my exhaustion. Clinging and sticking like a sandspur into Florida’s side.         In this dream, the setting is on the opposite side of the house from where I lived in reality over 30 years ago. (Dreams often reverse real-world attributes and patterns on many levels, not solely from virtual amnesia but to prevent mental corruption. This safeguard does not seem to exist in the mentally ill, the delusional, people with PTSD, or the traumatized, from what I have read.)

        The wall focus (the virtual barrier between dreaming and waking) is the main foundation. The wall serves as an approach to intuitively dividing the dream state from reality. In this case, the typical "owing the landlady a lot of back rent" is different once again.

        My sense of touch is the main association. I need to wipe many equidistant sandspurs from the walls. My focus is quite unusual. The walls are there and not there simultaneously. I somehow sweep an entire wall with one pass of my hand. It is difficult to describe. Even so, I feel no painful sensations in pushing my hand over the sandspurs. I do this with three walls. (This is similar to the lack of a fourth street in intersection dreams - as consciousness or memory is never viable while dreaming.) This content comes from the wall being a virtual barrier regarding my lack of real-world tangibility and tactility while asleep, a physical precursor in contrast to a mental one in this case. It is a fundamental somatosensory response - where sandspurs are a regularly occurring attribute since childhood.

        My landlady stands in the doorway and is cheerful. She tells me I can live in the house for as long as I want, and that I do not owe her rent. This event is the opposite of many similar dreams. Even so, in this case, I only recall her deceased status later in my dream.

        In the last part of my dream, an unknown young woman (supposedly a real estate agent - note the play on "real") tells me I need to leave the King Street house (which of course, is simply protoconsciousness personified to steer me into the waking state - which is likely a simulacrum of Zsuzsanna). I tell her that the landlady said I could stay. Even so, I start to ponder (when I recall her deceased status - but NOT that I have lived in Australia since 1994) if I should think of her as a ghost and what this woman would think. (I have no belief in ghosts or demons in waking life.) Eventually, I leave the dream state. The doorway presence of personified protoconsciousness is one of the main attributes of all dreams in this mode.

        It is not uncommon for real-world memory dynamics to vary considerably in the same dream from one scene to the next, rendering most popular beliefs about dreams as wholly invalid and asinine. There is no other conclusion from all the false dream lore out there (including "dream interpretation" and "lucid dreaming" myths), which is a total embarrassment to humanity in my opinion. Even so, most people have no interest in dreams - and it does not seem to affect them in any way (even though the transpersonal elements of sleep and devoted study of dreams have shaped my life since childhood).

Ms. Cervenka left St. Petersburg in 1976 after living here two years. “Mostly, I just hung out and wrote,” she said.
