SAW THE MUSICAL: THE UNAUTHORIZED PARODY OF SAW Extends Off-Broadway and Announces National Tour.
After an astonishing New York run this Fall, SAW The Musical The Unauthorized Parody of Saw has extended its run Off-Broadway at AMT Theatre (345 West 45th Street) through Jun 23, 2024. It will also kick off a national tour in LA with a six-week run beginning Feb 29 at the Hudson Theatres Mainstage (6539 Santa Monica Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90038 in Hollywood) SAW The Musical: The Unauthorized Parody began performances Off-Broadway on Sept 16, 2023, with its New York Opening Night on Sunday, Oct 1, 2023, and was called "Hilariously Absurd" by NPR. The run is extended through Jun 23, 2024, in Midtown's Theater District.
Danny Durr as Gordon and Jill Owen
The National Tour stops include Los Angeles, CA (Hudson Theatre Mainstage, Feb 29- Apr 7, 2024 ); San Diego, CA (Tenth Ave Arts Center, April 10 – 28, 2024), Las Vegas, NV (May 1 – 5, 2024), Portland, OR (Alberta Abbey, May 15 – Jun 9, 2024), Greely, CO (Union Colony Civic Center, June 2024), Chicago, IL (Jul 26 – Aug 18, 2024). Exact dates, locations, and tickets can be purchased by visiting www.sawthemusical.com/national-tour.
One of the most thought-provoking horror films of all time now is…a musical. SAW The Musical hilariously captures the events of the first movie, parodying the Saw that started it all, following from where Lawrence Gordon and Adam Stanheight find each other for the first time in the bathroom trap. Will they follow "the rules" as they discover each other's secrets? Will they escape the game in time and saw right through? A love story with fluidity (and lots more fluids), SAW The Musical: The Unauthorized Parody of Saw is Little Shop of Horrors meets Avenue Q, pushing the boundary on sexuality and how to love. [Parental Advisory: Explicit Content]
"SAW The Musical: The Unauthorized Parody of Saw brings the iconic horror film to life on stage with a wickedly funny twist. Now is the perfect time to laugh at the macabre as we blend horror and hair-raising laughter, creating a unique musical experience that's both hilarious and thrilling. Get ready for a love story entangled in traps, secrets, and unexpected humor, pushing the boundaries of entertainment with a dash of explicit fun." Cooper Jordan, Creator, and Producer
Created by Cooper Jordan (DEX! A Killer Musical, The Rat Pack Undead), SAW The Musical has a book by Award -Winning Writer Zoe Ann Jordan (Virtuoso - NYCHFF) and music & lyrics by Patrick Spencer & Anthony De Angelis (An Axemas Story), and directed & choreographed by Tony Award Winner Stephanie Rosenberg (Easter Bunny HOP! LIVE; Co-Producer: Moulin Rouge! The Musical, Anastasia) with music direction by Leigh Pomeranz (DEX! A Killer Musical) and fight direction by Dan Renkin (All My Sons, DEX! A Killer Musical). I think people are worried about San Diego getting cancelled, and ngl I am on edge about it, but after thinking about I don't think they will cancel?
First of all, the way they talked about it in the video they seemed like they were gonna go through with it anyways? Idk.
The theater itself won't lose money as long as Dan and Phil pay all their fees. It's a civic theater and is booking the types of performers/tours that typically also come to the mid-sized city where I live, not necessarily tons of huge acts. So it's not like they are necessarily losing out on booking someone more profitable by booking Dan and Phil for one night.
Dan and Phil probably don't want to cancel if possible, they seem to hate doing that, especially since the VIP tickets in San Diego are sold out and people are planning on meeting them. Like they seem like the type to go through with it even if they lose money.
However, I don't know how tour promoters work. Do Dan and Phil just pay them to help with booking/marketing or are they also investing in the show? Because that's the issue of like, if some other third party is worried about losing money that isn't being provided by Dan and Phil... then Idk.
Anyways, I do highly encourage folks to come to San Diego! If you have any questions about traveling there, let me know! I have family in SoCal so I know a bit about the airports/public transit options. I've also taken the Amtrak Pacific Surfliner from LA up north before and it also goes south to San Diego, and people use it to commute between LA and SD all the time. San Diego is also a nicer place to visit than LA imo 👀

From Rauw Alejandro to Shakira, see everyone who's touring this year. Fonseca performs onstage during the 2023 iHeart Fiesta Latina at Kaseya Center on October 21, 2023 in Miami, Florida. Alexander Tamargo/Getty Images FOR iHeartRadio Español Editor’s Note: The list features only U.S. tours by Latin music artists and is updated on a regular basis. Tours will be removed from the list once they have ended. 2024 was a phenomenal year for the Latin touring industry, where five Latin acts — Luis Miguel, Bad Bunny, Karol G, RBD and Aventura — grossed more than $100 million, up from one in 2023 and two in 2022. Billboard reported in December that Latin artists are responsible for 16% of the year’s top 100 touring grosses, more than ever before. This year, Luis Miguel topped Billboard’s Highest-Grossing Latin Tours of the Year list, grossing $290.4 million across 128 shows, according to figures reported to Billboard Boxscore. Following El Sol de México’s trek is Bad Bunny’s Most Wanted tour, grossing $211.4 million across 49 concerts. Both tours ranked top 10 on the overall Billboard Year-End Top Tours of 2024 list — the former at No. 4 and the latter at No. 9 — alongside artists such as Coldplay, The Rolling Stones and Madonna, to name a few. Now, 2025 is already shaping up to be another great touring year for Latin music. Already announced for the new year are Shakira’s Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran stadium trek kicking off in the spring; Rauw Alejandro’s Cosa Nuestra World Tour beginning in North America; and Nathy Peluso’s first-ever U.S. run in honor of her album Grasa. Mexican band Camila and Colombian tropi-pop artist Gusi have also secured tours in the U.S. Below, see our updating list of Latin tours that have already been announced for 2025. Edward William Anderson (September 26, 1871 - August 11, 1953) was born the son of former enslaved, Wyatt and Fannie Anderson, in Hopkinsville, Kentucky. He arrived in San Diego in the mid-1890s with just $1.25 in his pocket. His first successful venture was as owner of IXL Laundry which grew to become the largest steam laundry in the region with thirty-five employees.
He and his wife, Mary, arrived with tickets in hand to claim their seats for a performance of Around the World in Eighty Days at the city’s premier entertainment venue, the elegant Fisher Opera House. Instead of being ushered to the choice seats near the orchestra, the theater manager, who redirected him to the balcony, said, “I do not allow colored people on that floor.” He refused the balcony seats, accepted a refund of the tickets, and filed a lawsuit for $299 in damages. He prevailed and was awarded $50. The judgment was reversed on appeal and further legal action by him did not succeed. His challenge set a legal precedent as the first racial discrimination court case of its kind in Southern California.
He became the most prosperous Black businessman in San Diego County. He acquired one hundred and sixty acres along the California-Mexico border and resold it at a 50 percent markup. He bought his uncle’s grocery store and launched Economy Waste Paper Company and the San Diego Rubbish & Garbage Company which held an exclusive seven-year city contract. He used some of the gathered refuse to feed hogs on his adjacent Silver Strand Ranch, where he owned a meat-packing operation, and Anderson Meat Market which sold its special sausage brand. His porkers won prizes at fairs throughout the state, earning him the nickname “Hog King of San Diego.” He launched Anderson Mortuary.
He co-founded the San Diego branch of the NAACP and served three terms as its president. A Prince Hall Mason, he was president of the Negro Business League, the Independent Voters League, and the Douglass League as well as treasurer of the Negro Civic League and a member of the Elks and the San Diego RepublicanCentral Committee.
He was survived by his wife. #africanhistory365 #africanexcellence

LIZZY MCALPINE’S NEW ALBUM OLDER OUT NOW
Older, the highly anticipated new album from singer, songwriter and producer Lizzy McAlpine is out today on RCA Records—get it here.
In celebration of the album, Lizzy will embark on “The Older Tour,” an extensive headline run hitting North America, the U.K. and Europe. The dates, which kick off this month, will see Lizzy playing back-to-back nights at New York’s Radio City Music Hall, Los Angeles’ Greek Theatre, Washington D.C.’s The Anthem, Boston’s MGM Music Hall at Fenway and Philadelphia’s The Met. Additional stops include Toronto’s Budweiser Stage, Seattle’s WaMu Theater and San Francisco’s Bill Graham Civic Auditorium as well as performances at Bonnaroo and Hinterland festivals. See below for a full itinerary.
Recorded and produced in Los Angeles by Lizzy with Mason Stoops (Ryan Beatty, Del Water Gap), Ryan Lerman of Scary Pockets, Jeremy Most (Emily King, Norah Jones) and Tony Berg (Taylor Swift, Boygenius), Older finds the 24-year-old rising star stepping into newfound confidence, discovering her voice and defining her artistry with profound simplicity. It’s a notable departure for Lizzy, who wrote the LP’s deeply personal 14 tracks during a transition into adulthood.
Lizzy’s eagerly awaited third studio album features previously shared singles, “I Guess” and the record’s title track, which she performed for the first time on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” last month—watch here.
Older is the follow up to Lizzy’s widely successful album, five seconds flat, which was released to critical acclaim in the spring of 2022. The record features hit singles “all my ghosts” and “erase me (feat. Jacob Collier)” as well as the Platinum-certified track,“ceilings,” which debuted at No. 75 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
Born outside Philadelphia, Lizzy gained recognition when she began to share original songs and covers on Soundcloud and YouTube. In 2020, Lizzy released her debut album, Give Me A Minute, solidifying herself as a rising force and amassing thousands of devoted fans. She has collaborated with some of the industry’s biggest names, most recently featuring on Niall Horan’s “You Could Start a Cult” and Noah Kahan’s “Call Your Mom.” Watch Lizzy perform on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, The Ellen Show and NPR Music’s Tiny Desk, where her set was voted in the Top 5 Tiny Desks of 2022.

The last time I was in this theater was for a Comic Con panel for a new animated tv show from Matt Groening of Life in Hell and the Tracey Ulmann Show shorts called “The Simpsons.” I’ll let you Wikipedia up what year that was. Yet another song from my youth. Hair! San Diego Civic Theater. 1969? Girlfriend's mom bought tickets. Broadway cast's roadshow. The music is forever baked into the memory of that evening. Close my eyes and I'm there.
Let the sun shine in!

Here's something you Millenials just might get a kick out of. If you think music videos were unknown in the ages long passed, then watch this one from 1969. The group is called 5th Dimension, and the song is titled Aquarius. This strange song was quite popular in my childhood. Just try to not laugh too hard at the sheer corniness of it (if you look closely enough you can see the strings that the planets are connected to). Enjoy! Who knows, you might actually think it's groovy!!!😜😜😜
