The response has been incredible, with almost 80 individual responses in just two days! I think it's safe to say there's definitely enough interest to move forward, so consider this the official launch! 🎉

It might be more helpful for more people to know about when apps open if you had an email newsletter too! Tumblr, Bluesky, etc. socials don’t always work to get the word out is all.

Oh interesting! I've never heard of a zine newsletter, but I'll definitely look into it!

will you be doing open mod apps?

Absolutely! A fanzine definitely isn't a one-person project, so I'll take all the help I can get. You can expect to see those apps before the end of the month!

Does the person behind the organization effort have experience running a fanzine?

I do, though not since around 2017 / 2018 ish. I'll definitely need to brush up on best practices again as I get the ball rolling, as I'm sure the zine landscape has changed a lot since then!

How long would writing submissions need to be (1k words? 5k?)? What level of polish is expected for art submissions? [...] Will applicants be able to submit work to the zine without needing to join a closed group (such as a discord server)?

These details (and more!) are all on the list of things to discuss and decide with the future mod team! I have ideas, but I would like them to be group decisions so everyone is on the same page.

are you guys thinking the zine would be mostly focused on npc wardens or would people's hero of ferelden be included?

Would contributors be able to make works about their grey warden ocs (hero of ferelden, rook thorne) or would it be limited to canon grey wardens (Alistair, davrin, etc.) ?

Is the focus on canonical grey wardens (ie Alistair, Duncan, Davrin, etc) or can OCs such as our hero of ferelden count?

I'd like to do a mix of both, as I know people will be excited to write about their HOF and Rooks, but there are also plenty of people hoping to see characters they recognize. This is another detail I plan on nailing down with the mod team!

As a person who focuses on alternative/multimedia (textiles/cosplay/sculpture/etc.), I'd love to see this zine open to accepting more than just the "typical" fic/art options for contributing! [...] I dont think this would be the right zine for recpie contributions [...].

Me too! One of the zines I worked on in the past recruited a paper artist who did a gorgeous 2-page spread, so I'd love to see what the Dragon Age fandom has to offer-- a recipe could make a good

I really love the Grey Wardens, and I think there should be a zine about it. Since there isn't one, I have no choice but to make it myself! So, have an interest check:

The interest check will be open until October 5th, or until I've gotten a reasonably sufficient number of responses.
