Sammy stared down at the man who had invaded their peaceful realm. 

He was soaken with ink, laden with the liquor of the Lord, and his expression, though it was hard for a moment as he turned to face the prophet, was now soft, lined with benevolent concern. 

Sammy’s hand tightened on the pipe. 

Who was this? His immediate thought was this was a false god, some imposter who had thought that he could take the place of his Lord. His arm rose to bring the pipe down again, but something- something stopped him. 

A realization. 

This could be a gift. What was that angel always yammering about? That she was an angel, sent onto them from above? No, she was not. Sammy had seen her rise from the inky puddles, she was a blasphemous fraud. Oh- oh, the realization. The revelation.

This… this was the man that Sammy had been prophesying of all along. He was wrong, in his interpretation of the Lord’s word. His Lord never meant that He would redeem him himself, and while the notion stung, this man was proof that they were not abandoned. 

He would set them free- he was sent from above. Sammy had seen the rays of sunshine above him, burning his dark and holy skin with its purifying rays. 

Sammy knelt down to this angel, prodding with the pipe carefully. His teeth, wet and soft, gnashed against one another as he tried to comprehend the human form before him. 

It was… perfect. 

Sammy inhaled once, allowing himself to relax and smile. 

But maybe- 

The thought struck

Maybe too perfect. 

Sammy flinched back, as though burned. But of course! This was nothing but a ruse, a lie, a deception! This man could not be the savior from the Lord; it was not what Sammy was promised. Or was he? 

Sammy’s head spun. He could hardly decide what he believed anymore. Was his faith so shaky?

Resolving himself, he dragged the man- angel- falsehood- into the center of the pentagram. He took the axe, ran his slick fingers along the edge of the metal. Sharp. Clean. Beautiful. 

He set it aside. It was not his tool. 

Quietly, he heard the Voice of the Lord echo through the pipes, whispering; Not yet.

A rush of electricity ran through Sammy’s body, his fingers trembling with delight, his lungs aching to sing with praise for his Lord. At last, a message! A message, for him, after silence for so long! And one that proved to him that he would be an instrument in the coming of the end, in the coming of their Freedom. The axe was not his, not yet. It would be his. He would be at the side of this angel, and together they would forge the new world. 

His heart light, Sammy assured himself that he would watch this sheep carefully, and he would be his shepard, to guide him unto the path of their Lord. 

He would set them free. 

Amen.

ok so i got a little snippet here from a current WIP, its from a preseries thing im working on

"Sam, I hope this doesn't come across the wrong way, but would you be willing to give your father this form? It’s for the school to take you on a special field trip, only certain kids get to go on it.”

Sam looked over the paper, Operation Christmas, a charity run by the local police department and school district. 

A program for less fortunate kids to go shopping at K-Mart.

“Yeah, sure. Thanks.” Sam mumbled as he rushed out of the car.

He ran into the laundromat, going straight to the back, waiting long enough for the teacher to drive off.

Sam sighed, looking over the paper once more, he needed his dads permission to go on this trip. It was free, they’d give him a hundred dollars to spend on a pair of shoes, a jacket, and a gift of his choice.

He knows if he shows this to his dad and Dean they’d feel guilty and want to skip town early.

They can't do that in their condition. 

Sam crumpled up the form and threw it away. Other kids have to have it worse than him, they’re more deserving than him.

(note, there are a lot of inconsistencies with how these two would even have kids, what magical race their daughter would be (vamp-shifter hybrid), darlin's life span etc. but pls for the sake of my sanity pretend it makes sense lol)

Parent Darlin' who finds themselves competing with a four year old for their mate's attention

Dad Sam who effortlessly flips between doting dad and disciplinary parent

Dad Sam who is surprisingly good at defusing the (many) tantrums his daughter throws, not getting mad but just sitting with and talking to her calmly

Parents Darlin' and Sam who were very much one and done (their daughter is too much of a handful to have any more kids)

Parent Darlin' who thinks it's both a blessing and a curse to have a daughter that acts exactly like them because on one hand, they have a mini-me and they can tell how she’ll react to certain situations but she also has their reckless nature and gives them a heart attack every other day (they find themselves yelling “Cut it out!” every single day without even looking at her)

Dad Sam who knows his daughter is just as strong as his mate but still worries over everything concerning her

Parent Darlin' and Sam who are still confused at how their toddler is so damn strong

Dad Sam who sobbed his eyes out when their daughter started school ("Wow, Sammy, you're crying almost as much as our four-year-old.")

Dad Sam who catches himself being too overbearing or protective sometimes and has to learn to let his daughter fail and get hurt occasionally

Also Dad Sam who after a few years of being her dad, becomes desensitized to her hurting herself daily (if she's not crying, he doesn't care anymore. a simple 'you good?' will do)

Dad Sam who said you would never catch him playing princesses or dress up (cue Darlin' laughing their lungs out at the sight of him in a way too tight princess dress getting his makeup done by their daughter)

Dad Sam who absolutely laughs when his daughter starts calling his Darlin' "darlin'" because of how often he calls them that

Dad Sam who is absolutely his daughter's favourite parent until Darlin' steps into the room (she will scream and cry to be in their arms)

Parents Darlin and Sam who have a very clingy very aggressive toddler that wants to be held 24/7 but will also start trying to fight them at random

Parent Darlin' who, after their daughter shifts for the first time, always play fights with her while shifted

Parent Darlin' who is constantly being forced to read at bedtime by their daughter

Dad Sam who rocks his daughter all the time in the rocking chair in her room

Parent Darlin' who finds themselves doing the high pitched baby voice they always found annoying to their daughter without even realizing it

Dad Sam who gets incredibly excited whenever his daughter's slight country accent comes out a little stronger

Parent Darlin' who acts annoyed when their daughter takes a liking to David but is silently happy she has a good relationship with him

They are both so calm and understanding about her little temper tantrums that they don't even last long ("I know, it's hard and your feelings are too much right now. We're not gonna hit people though, okay? Okay.")

Ben constantly gets gay panics. Ben just dies

I want a fic where the N6 go on a vacation but benrius centric. I want that more then anything in the world! I can just imagine Darius forcing Ben to go back to the beach because he thinks he’s over heating or something. While Ben’s sitting at their set up Ben continues to stare at Darius fumbling over the surfboard because he’s still learning. Kenji was already sitting at their set up and sees Ben looking at D and squints his eyes and goes “Dude quit staring at my brother” Kenji just shakes his head and gose back to reading a book or something and Ben’s face gets redder and he’s just flabbergasted. For the rest of the day Kenji and Yaz continue to make fun of him about it while Darius and Sammy are so out of the loop. Yaz also made a bet about this.

After reading the es/ls verse tag here, I got an idea but more future Sam centric (after a case gone wrong, Sam gets sent backwards in timr and Dean is worrying himself to a heart attack the whole time Sam is babysitting 2 younger versions of them)

Older Sam being just amused by his and Dean's younger selves. The young ones tripping over themselves to impress Sam.

Sammy (younger Sam) hated the guy at first cos wtf do u mean we stay in the life??? But eventually warmed up cos this dude is really cool, his future self is so cool.

Dean in awe of Sam's big size cos that's his boy that got thay big. Patting himself on the back for doing a good job.

It’s nice to see you more active on here at the moment.

I was thinking about how you tend to say that the bi-bros who lean towards Sam are more in line with the GA.

But, I watch lots of reactors watch SPN for the first time, and they often lean towards Dean (I’d say 3/5), and I’ve heard a similar ratio say that they think Jensen is a noticeably better actor than Jared.

So, my questions are, are they letting fan expectations colour their reactions (hellers and Dean girls are very fast to pounce on new reactors), are they already Destiel curious from seeing edits in tumblr (I know of at least one who fits this), or do they acquaint “they make me feel emotional therefore they are the best actor”?

For me personally, on my first watch, Dean killed me with his love for family and Sammy and I empathized more with him usually, at least until Season 4/5 where he started pissing me off regularly. But, when I rewatch, I love episodes like Mystery Spot and Born Under a Bad Sign, or Souless Sam episodes because Jared is just so good when he gets something interesting to do. I find the Dean crying stuff less compelling on rewatches because it’s not as interesting to me (with a few expectations) after the first and second viewing. And acting at mirrors scenes gets old for me in particular very quickly.

In short, I think both are good, with different strengths, but I wonder why so many new viewers that I come across see Jensen as being stronger and Dean as being better. Do the just fail to see past the narrative bias? Or they just like Sean because he’s more fun?

Anyway, I appreciate any thoughts you want to share on this. And I’m also wondering if there is stats anywhere in GA favoring Sam?

First, because Sam girls commit ��geek social fallacies” by also liking Dean because they love that Dean revolves around their Sammy. But Dean/Jensen stans don’t return the favor because they hate that Dean revolves around his Sammy so they hate on Sammy even though under their breath they’ve said if Jensen had been playing Sammy all along they wouldn’t change any of the writing.  That’s why there appears to be a Dean bias in the SPN fandom because Sam fans also likes Dean.  

It’s not a coincidence that Sam girls are the fandom’s official representative (all the meta fans on the show are Sam fans).   The show is mostly Sam-centric, if the bitter Sam girls won’t believe me then believe Jensen’s interviews when he said that SPN is Sam-centric and called season 10 a "rare Dean-centric storyline". (X)

Second, Dean is supposed to be a scene stealer, that's what support-protagonist do.  Often our favorite characters are not the protagonist but these scene stealers characters, they are usually cool or very funny. But it becomes a problem when producers try to capitalize on the character’s popularity, like creating a spin-off.   Like spices, which can not take the place of the main course, scene stealers often fail as leads because their “special-ness” evaporates when they have to carry the show. It's why WB canceled Supernatural when Jared told them he was leaving, because they knew a Dean-led Supernatural wouldn't work.

So while I'm watching an episode, I am more drawn to Dean because he’s more fun or interesting to watch. However the next day I remember the episode through Sam’s actions and interactions. Some of my readers tell me that they were surprised that they seem to “forget” Dean when they recall specific storylines, I said that’s supposed to happen with the support-protagonist.  We don't remember much of what John Watson did in the classic Sherlock Holmes or what was Nick Carraway's deal in The Great Gatsby.

It's the protagonist who mobilizes the story and stands out in readers’ or audiences’ minds.  Dean needs interaction with Sam in order for the audience to even remember him because he's part of the protagonist’s story. It’s why I keep saying Supernatural is Sam’s story, it's his Hero’s Journey.   Dean is at his best when he’s focused on Sam (which is why season 10 sucked and season 5 was kind of weak).

Third, Jensen is a personality actor and people are generally more drawn to them. Jared is a character actor who is trapped in a leading man role. Jensen has been Jensen “Dean Winchester” Ackles for the majority of his TV and movie roles since 1998.  It’s why Jensen initially made a bigger splash with Dean in the early Supernatural seasons because he’s already been playing Dean for years since Days of Our Lives.  In 2005 when SPN premiered, Jensen had a 7 years head start playing Dean compared to Jared who was just starting to play Sam and had to create Sam from scratch.  By season 3, audiences began to notice Jared's versatile acting skills and he would soon be tasked with playing different characters because that's what character actors do.

I’d like to dive deeper into my thoughts on Caleo, bc they have been taking up most of my brainpower rn:

I get where Rick was going with it. I really do. They started off hating each other, Calypso thinking Leo was really annoying and just generally being like “why is this tiny human talking to me?”, but then they grew closer, realised they misunderstood each other, and bonded over common ground. It’s sweet. But the thing is, Rick? You’ve already got a character that did all that with Leo in the previous book!

And his name is Frank.

1. You’ve already set up that dynamic! Why not spend more time focusing on fleshing out that existing arc instead of creating a new one?

2. There’s SO MUCH more potential with angst- Frank being afraid of Leo bc of his fire, Leo being afraid of Frank because he’s twice his size and could easily crush his tiny body under his foot. Leo’s had to learn to survive on his brains and quick-wits in order to protect himself from bullies, and instantly gets defensive when he sees Frank. Frank is very insecure and sensitive, so immediately falls victim to Leo’s jokes. It takes a while for both of them to take those walls down, put aside their differences, and learn to trust each other.

3. It’s just hilarious how got-off-on-the-wrong-foot they were. A reminder that when Frank first met Leo, Leo had just destroyed half of New Rome. They both immediately judged each other completely based on looks- like it’s seriously funny how much you could compare these two to “Pride and Prejudice”. Also, the awkward misunderstanding that was the whole Sammy thing-

4. But they also have a lot more in common that Leo and Calypso ever did- similar trauma with losing their moms, and actually Leo is just as afraid of fire as Frank is. Both are incredibly insecure, and they both feel like they don’t belong among the other Seven.

5. You’ve also got that fun opposites-attract thing- Frank is big and muscular, Leo is built like a twig. Frank is big soft pookie bear, Leo is an absolute menace to society. Frank can turn into animals, Leo is a machines guy. Frank is Roman, Leo is Greek. You get the idea. They were written to juxtapose each other beautifully. They are the Yin to each other’s Yang.

6. They get so much more time together to establish a meaningful relationship. Their arc carries over three books, and we get to form connections as a reader to BOTH Leo AND Frank separately beforehand, so the payoff is a lot more satisfying. It takes time for them to open up to each other, and when they do it feels like they earned it. Calypso and Leo got a couple of chapters, that’s it.

It doesn’t have to be romantic! Leo can heal his trauma with friends and found family, learning to love and accept himself, learning that he doesn’t actually need the attention of a hot girl to be valid. He can find his place among his brethren with the help of all his friends, even Frank- the most unlikely of friends.

I wish Rick had put more effort into fleshing out the platonic relationships instead of just conforming to romance-centric ideals of “love fixes everything!” It’s lazy, and boring, and has been done to death. Platonic friendships make up 95% of our relationships, yet they are SERIOUSLY underrepresented in media. I’m calling for more interesting platonic dynamics. Leo and Frank could’ve been so much more, if Rick had actually taken the time to build on their relationship, and focused less on “Leo Needs a Girlfriend”!

So, when I say “Everything Caleo did, Valzhang could do better”- THAT is what I meant.

Also, Jason is so much better for Leo than Calypso, but that’s a whole other post.

Yaz-Centric Chaos Theory Trailer Analysis

I found it weird that Yaz is the only one who didn't get a proper introduction in the trailer (Sammy had a scene where she's running from an atrociraptor and we get to see Kenji in his camper(?)) so I have a bit of a theory.

It's hard to see but there's a reflection in Yaz's eye towards the bottom left corner. To me, it kind of looks like an atrociraptor (probably Ghost since she's grey). This would explain why Yaz is so scared.

It also looks like there's a metal fence behind her, and I couldn't find another fence like it anywhere in the trailer except for in this frame:

The fence is the right shape and there's vegetation behind it. The brown dirt everywhere also matches the patches of dirt in the background of the picture of Yaz. Because of the rural look, this might be Sammy's ranch.

Also the car driving up to them in this frame is different than the other cars we see throughout the trailer. Notice the absence of any lights on top of the roof:

Since it looks like Sammy and Yaz in the last frame are being tailed by a car with a row of lights on the roof (and because that same car seems to be associated with the men in green uniforms in the picture with Darius), it seems like the car with roof-lights is a vehicle used by the antagonist. Which means that the car we see pulling up to Sammy, Ben, and Darius here-

-is probably Yaz's car, since it doesn't have the roof lights and she's seen driving a car in the frame with her and Sammy. And we know the car she's driving isn't Ben's van since it has a back window and seems to be fairly low to the ground, like the one pictured above.

on the topic of chris not being THAT different in pahkitew, i CAN pin down some differences he does have that ultimately take away a lot of his charm

less chris+chef interactions. it didnt start in pahkitew but u can see that theres practically no moments between them here. likely since they pair chris w topher for half the season, but still. what if there was still like this distance between the two, but u also added a chef+topher dynamic. maybe chef just finds it amusing how topher tortures chris. just a thought

theres less of like.. chris' gay quirks. do u know what im talking abt. like in tda saying he made the challenge later in the day bc he was getting a manicure. lighthearted character-centric jokes so that hes more beyond just ~sadistic host~. often overlaps w the first point bc of course

chris being just rly.... irritated by everything this time around? again u could explain it away w him having to deal w topher but it makes for such a.... idk how to explain it. he causes FOUR eliminations (amy, sammy, ella, max) JUST bc he finds them annoying. keep the twins around for the drama. give ella a penalty or put her on the other team or SOMETHING not fully getting rid of her for singing. max.

this is less of a "chris not being fun" thing and more like the writers missing out on a fun opportunity, but what if topher DID get to host the show just once. and chris was still pulling the strings behind the scenes to make him have a hard time to get him eliminated. it wouldve been fun and different!

tldr its not that hes ""extra mean"" this season its just that they removed basically everything else he had going on

jwct s2 spoilers/theories !! (Sammy centric)

The fact we still don’t know what happened between Sammy and her family is making me even more worried about what could have gone down. Her interaction with (auntie!!) Aminata and Zayna were adorable, but they really show how starved for a family this girl is - she wants a loving family so bad!!

With the hints in s1 I really expected more backstory in s2, but it makes sense they’re holding off with this being a Brooklyn heavy arc. My guess is next season they’ll be back in the US, and we’ll see more of their families. Maybe Yaz will join Sammy on the farm for the time being since her old home’s not really around any more? Imagine them being farmer gf’s <3

I can’t wait to see the drama backstory!!
