A Difficult Day for Martine...

Rounding up a week in Hollyoaks (12th-16th April 2021)

Hollyoaks tackled the problem of unconscious bias this week as Grace and Martine both headed to the hospital to have breast lumps checked. As the week began, Celeste noticed a spark between Felix and Martine and tried to convince her Mother to tell him how she really felt. However, as Martine prepared to tell all, Grace interrupted. Later, Felix was clearly struggling with his feelings for both Martine and Grace and decided to ditch Grace’s birthday plans to spend time with Martine. Martine finally told Felix how she really felt and the pair shared a kiss. However, during the moment, the pair discovered a lump on Martine’s breast. Felix shared the discovery with Celeste and later had to contend with an angry Grace, who demanded to know what was going on...

Having found a lump herself a few weeks back, the day of Grace’s hospital appointment arrived, and it just so happened to be the same day as Martine’s. Before their appointments, both women had their interviews for the ‘Chester Business Woman of the Year Awards’. Whilst Grace’s interview went well, Martine had to contend with the interviewer’s abrupt attitude and the interview was cut short through no fault of her own. Both women then headed to the hospital, where an argument over Felix broke out. However, they were brought crashing back to reality when Peri arrived and revealed that, as the appointment had been double booked, the doctor would only be able to see one of them. Grace immediately began to cry and Peri ushered her in, insisting that she needed to be seen that day. Of course, Martine was understandably annoyed and when she attempted to stand up for her right to see the doctor, Peri told her her to stop being aggressive. Unaware of what had happened, Felix went to the hospital, intending to support Martine through her appointment, however, he ended up bumping into Grace, who assumed he was there for her.

The following day, Celeste was stunned to hear about what had happened at the hospital and gave Peri a piece of her mind. Peri initially failed to accept any wrongdoing however, after a chat with Misbah, she realised where she’d gone wrong and went to find Martine to offer her a rescheduled appointment. Unfortunately, Martine was given bad news when Peri informed her that the lump was suspicious and she would need to undergo a biopsy...

Meanwhile, Sienna was back to her old tricks this week as she poisoned Summer in a bid to spend some time alone with Brody. However, Sienna’s plan went wrong when Brody realised that Sienna had broken into Summer’s flat last week and told her that her deranged behaviour was exactly why he couldn’t be with her. Things were soon about to get a whole lot worse for Sienna when Summer came round and told Damon and Liberty that Sienna had poisoned her. Horrified by her sister’s actions, Liberty decided to move out and Sienna soon had some explaining to do when DS Cohen turned up to arrest her. Sienna was then dealt another blow when Sally got wind of what had happened and suspended her from school. However, in a surprising turn of events, Summer decided to drop the charges and convinced Sally to give Sienna another chance. When Sienna questioned her rival, Summer told her that she was having too much fun to see her sent down...

In other news this week, Sami convinced Verity not to move to New York and the pair decided to get back together, whilst Diane continued her fight against germs. Imran felt threatened and worried by the influence that Ripley was having on Brooke and finally, Ste struggled to pay the bills.

Setting up Shaq, Sue, and a Stolen Screwdriver...

Rounding up a week in Hollyoaks (3rd-7th May 2021)

Summer’s behaviour continued to climb further and further up the creepiness scale this week as her obsession with Sienna continued. Deciding to put Brody behind her once and for all, Sienna got herself on a dating app and soon secured a date with a man called Theo. Meanwhile, Summer broke into Sienna’s flat and whilst there, the phone rang. Realising it was Sienna’s date, Summer texted back, posing as Sienna, to ask if the date could be rearranged for an earlier time before pocketing a screwdriver as she left. Summer went along to meet with Theo and when the date was over, warned him to never contact Sienna again, flashing the weapon in the process. 

Sienna began to suspect that someone had been in her flat and she called the police when she realised that one of her screwdrivers was missing. However, when the police arrived to investigate (clearly an unusually slow crime day in Hollyoaks), the missing screwdriver had been returned. Once the police had gone, Summer appeared and came clean about her true feelings for Sienna, telling her that they were “two twisted, unloveable souls”. Sienna was stunned when Summer planted a kiss on her and insisted that it could never happen again. Sienna tried to put the kiss out of her mind and agreed that Warren could spend some time with the twins. However, this angered Summer, and she knocked Warren unconscious at the garage, meaning he missed out on seeing the twins. Believing that Warren had stood her up, Sienna was furious and told him he’d had his last chance. Later, Summer wrote in her diary, admitting that she’d been responsible for the attack on Warren and that she simply had to get Brody out of the way before she would have Sienna all to herself...

Meanwhile, Luke was shocked when his estranged Mum, Sue, returned to the village this week. Having not seen his Mum in several years, Luke immediately berated her for staying away for so long and demanded to know why she’d turned up now. Of course, Sue had an ulterior motive for getting back in touch, and told Luke that she was dying and that she was seeking reassurance that he’d be alright after she’d gone. Luke was devastated by his Mother’s bombshell and, despite misgivings from Cindy, insisted that they should keep quiet about his own illness. Cindy reluctantly agreed, however, Luke was left with some explaining to do when Sue noticed his shaky hand. Luckily, some quick thinking courtesy of Mandy diffused the matter and she told Sue that Luke’s alcoholism had left him with permanent nerve damage. Sue seemed satisfied with the explanation and was pleased when Luke and Cindy allowed her to move in. However, she made it clear to her son that she felt that Cindy was the wrong choice of partner, believing Mandy to be far more suitable. 

Elsewhere, Fergus and Warren overheard Shaq talking about his money worries and so Warren offered the newcomer a job at the garage. However, Shaq was unaware that he was being tricked and the pair soon convinced him that he’d been responsible for an expensive piece of jewellery going missing. Panic stricken, Shaq confided in his family and had Sami look over his employment contract, but it was watertight. Fergus insisted that Shaq would have to pay him back and suggested that he buy the Maalik home and rent it back to them. However, Misbah and Sami weren’t keen on the idea and insisted that Shaq would have to come up with his own way of paying back the money. Later, Fergus’ employee, Katja, arrived in the village and demanded to know why Fergus was streaming images of women from illegal CCTV cameras online...

In other news this week, Tom decided to open up a cafe at the never before seen park whilst Diane returned from hospital and immediately started worrying about germs. Finally, Trish reluctantly took Marco on at the dance school...
