so i've been watching the masked singer and i just... petition to get each member of one direction to go on there at some point and see how long it takes us fans vs the panel to guess who it is 🤣

Idk, I kinda just decided to challenge myself to portray a character's personality w the way they sit... And tbh I don't think I 100% captured it, w Riva and most esp Aly. Which I guess makes sense, bc they're the characters that I'm still trying to figure out on revising and their personality/story would go (the revision that I'm trying to do in my had anyway). Some of the poses are referenced from wha and dungeon meshi.

Some notes:

Riva's and Aly's designs here aren't final, esp Aly's. I think I almost got what Riva's design would be, she's like 80% finalized as a lot of the elements I wanted to portray her with made it, my only issue is that she looks way too much like the FMC in Tellurion (go read it btw it's great). I dislike how the boots look, could look way more 'military/rich' but alas what mattered to me at that time was "finished" not perfect, and I could always change it later.

Decided to end Riva's braids w sharp bits bc I recall there's a game character that had that same design, but for the life of me cannot recall where. I considered making her raincoat yellow, bc it's her most recognizable feature in her introduction and makes sense for the rain, but it doesn't look very "alchemist". I also wanted to make her a pixie cut, but I haven't laid out her story to the audience yet. Maybe later.

Aly, I'm deeply dissatisfied with. I honestly can't think up of clothing that looks like she would wear but also tell a story that's in line with the worldbuilding I made so rn I just improvised. The idea is that she looks like a pilot foremost, her outfit largely based on what she wore in book 7. And of course, sharing the same boots as Riva. But she doesn't look very "Cielan" aside from it.

Honestly, I initially thought planned to make Navin pose more childishly, but I realized that I also wanted to portray a somber side to him that doesn't get much exploring about, so we get that.

And er. Sorry for being quiet. Lots of bad stuff happening (not personally, but in general w the world) and I honestly didn't know how to deal with it properly. I honestly didn't think it was appropriate to make stuff esp during dark times, but there's only so much insanity I could take so I had to pick up a pen again.

“Logs, I think you’re forgetting something,” You laughed, holding up his phone just before he left. You were sitting on the couch in your shared apartment, spending some time together before he needed to head out for testing, and the day finally came when he needed to leave. He was running around the apartment like a chicken with his head cut off all because he asked for five more minutes. Well, five minutes turned into ten and before you knew it, he had an hour before his flight time. “You’d fall apart without me.”

“You’re right,” he laughed as he came back over to grab the phone and leaned over the back of the couch to give you a kiss before whispering, “I don’t know what I’d do without you, and I don’t know how you remember everything.”

“All in the job, I guess,” You joked as you pulled him back down, quickly giving him one last kiss before pushing him away. “Now go before James has my head for you not making your flight!”

This was a normal occurrence, but you would not change it for the world. Being able to help with even the most mundane things made you feel wanted, and that’s all Logan ever wanted. Having met in his karting days and got together during his F3 campaign, you were by his side through everything, and he needed you to know how much you mean to him.

”Can I get your help with this?” Logan asked as he walked into the Prema garage with his tablet. It was early on in your relationship, having gotten together only a few months prior, so this was technically your first race weekend as his significant other. Not that it really mattered, the crew treated you the same as always, but they did give you two more alone time than you remembered them giving. This allowed for Logan to have a little more freedom when it came to retreating into the backrooms at random times throughout the day. That came in handy for times like this as he showed you what he was struggling with on the tablet. “I can’t figure it out.

“It’s the track layout? What exactly do you need my help with?” You were genuinely confused. It was simply the layout of the track, nothing more nothing less. “I’d love to help, I just don’t understand the question.”

“Is this a right or left turn?” He asked in the same tone as he pointed at turn 3. You looked at the tablet and up at him a few times with wide eyes before answering him.

“Are you joking?” You asked in disbelief. If he was faking, you would not have known because even his eyes showed confusion toward the layout. You sighed, “It’s a long right-hander, Logs.”

“I know, but thanks for confirming,” he laughed, pulling you into his side as he kissed the crown of your head.

It became something the fans looked forward to. Especially during practice sessions because he was not always in the car and the cameras would always pan over to the two of you.

One day, in particular, it was raining. Typical Spa weather, but for once, the FIA made the right decision to delay the qualifying session due to the amount of rain. There were ever-growing puddles around the track, and it was not safe for them to go out and drive.

It was also cold, something you knew about Spa but clearly did not think the temperature would drop as drastically as it did when the rain started falling. That’s what the camera spotted when it panned over to the Williams garage. You and Logan were cuddled together under a tyre blanket as you two looked over the data from the practice session. 

“And here we have the crowd-favorite couple of Logan Sargeant and Y/n L/n,” Alex said over the live feed that was being broadcasted to all of the viewers. “Is that a tyre blanket around their shoulders?”

“I think it is,” Pietro Fittipaldi, who was guest starring in the commentary box, laughed. You looked away from the data momentarily, and you see the broadcast zooming in on you and Logan. You nudged his side and pointed at the screen, making him laugh and pull you closer to his side.  He gave you a small kiss on your lips, giving the viewers a show. You turned your head toward the camera afterward and smirked as you waved at it. Then, you turned your attention back to the screen just as it played on the screen and Pietro shouted, “We’ve been caught!”

Logan made it his mission to make you feel wanted. And he was willing to fight from the trenches against assholes online for you. He would do anything for you.

“What’s with that face?” Logan asked as he walked into the kitchen to grab a snack. It was during one of the brief breaks he had, so he decided to go back to your shared apartment. You were sitting at the counter, looking at your phone. Specifically, it was a recent post from the Williams Instagram that had a picture of you and Logan, and the comments on the post were not-so-nice at best. He leaned over your shoulder to see exactly what it was and immediately took your phone out of view. “What did I say about reading hate?”

“It’s hard not to when it’s everywhere,” you sighed, leaning back into his embrace. He wrapped his arms around your shoulders as he leaned his head against your shoulder, looking at the side of your face.

“Well, you know who’s opinion matters? Not theirs. Who even are they?” Logan answered, trying to make you laugh. “Jealous, that’s what they are. You are pretty and get to travel the world. These guys are chronically online, so they have nothing on you.”

“You’re pretty too, y’know,” you chuckled halfheartedly, still trying to forget what was said in the comments. “But your pretty is deeper than the surface. Your personality is pretty.”

“Glad to know you find my personality pretty because yours is prettier,” Logan jokingly flirted as he placed a kiss on your exposed shoulder. “Those people have clearly never heard your collection of dad jokes.”

“Hey! They’re good and you know it!”

Eventually, he knew that he was ready for the next step. No-not adopting a dog. He was ready to propose. After long discussions with Oscar (because he is substantially more put together than Logan (jokes)), he knew the perfect ring and the perfect way to ask.

It was after the season, and you two were visiting his family in Miami. Despite living in a beach town with a lot of luxury ships, he and his family had never been on a cruise, so that was what you suggested when everyone was talking about plans for the holiday.

That’s where you found yourself during the break, on a huge cruise ship in the middle of the ocean with his family and a few of your closest friends. The itinerary included St. Kitts, St. Thomas, St. Martins, and, Logan’s favorite, the Bahamas. You both relaxed, you learned how to fish (and even got another infamous fish picture of Logan), and you all went snorkeling around a shipwreck together.

The entire trip, Logan tried his best to relax, but he always had the lingering thought of “hey, I have the ring in my pocket, and I need to propose at some point.” You could tell something was on his mind, but you chalked it up to him being nervous since it was his first cruise. It was not until the second to last night that he finally mustered up the courage.

You were standing at the back of the ship with Logan, watching the sunset. You were leaning against the railing as Logan stood behind you with his hands on your sides. 

“Wanna pretend we’re from the Titanic?” You joked, looking back at him as you put your arms out to the sides like Rose. 

“Can we not joke about being on a sinking ship while we are on a ship in the middle of the ocean?” He laughed nervously. 

“Ah, are you scared, Mr. I drive at over 200 kph for a living?” You teased, looking back out to the open ocean. Logan was about to make a comment, but someone moving to his side caught his attention. Kyle and Oscar were walking by them, ready to take pictures of the moment since Logan asked them to photograph the moment. “Woah, cat got your tongue for once? Usually, you have some sort of smartass remark.”

“Actually, I wanna tell you something,” He started off. You did not turn around, but you moved your arms from the railing to hold his hands as they wrapped around your torso. “All I ever wanted was to make you feel wanted.”

“You do an amazing job at that, Logs,” You chuckled, turning your head slightly to place a small kiss on his cheek. 

“You make me feel so loved, but I want to make you feel better. I want to be better than all of the fairy tales you grew up with and better than your best dreams. I want to call you mine, I want to hold your hand forever and never let you forget it. I want to spend the rest of my life proving to you how wanted you are because, to me, you’ll always be wanted,” He spilled, lovingly as he slowly turned you around throughout the speech. You were too busy gazing into his eyes (and keeping the tears from falling) to notice the other two secretly recording and taking pictures of the moment. Especially when Logan finished off the speech by getting down on one knee and holding out the ring for you. “All I ever wanted was to be married to you. Will you do me the honors?”

“I never imagined feeling so loved and wanted in a relationship, but you are better than any of my wildest dreams,” You cried before realizing you never answered him. You prompted him to put the ring on your finger before whispering, “I would love to marry you, Logs.”

“They said yes!” He jumped up, picking you up in the process and turning you toward the (now visible) men with their phones out.

“Put me down!” You scratched, “I know I made Titanic jokes earlier, but I’m not really planning on being thrown overboard tonight.”

Mickey’s voice soared through the room, and as the final notes hung in the air, he stepped down from the stage, his heart pounding with hope and anticipation. The applause that followed Mickey’s performance was thunderous, and his friends from the Dagger Squad cheered for him with pride. Mickey, however, had only one person on his mind as he navigated through the crowd to where his girlfriend stood in the crowd. He couldn’t wait any longer to express what had been in his heart for so long.

Reaching her side, Mickey gently took her hand and looked deeply into her eyes. The world around them seemed to blur as he began to speak, his voice filled with emotion. “I love you, Y/N.” Her eyes welled up with tears of joy as a radiant smile spread across her face. She had been waiting to hear those words for what felt like an eternity. With a voice choked with emotion, she whispered, “I love you too, Mickey.”

In that tender moment, their unspoken words had finally found their voice. Their love was now out in the open, stronger than ever. Without hesitation, Mickey cupped Y/N’s face in his hands, and they shared a passionate kiss, sealing their love with a promise of a future filled with adventure, support, and boundless affection. Their friends couldn’t have been happier for them. The room erupted in applause once again, with their fellow pilots and Academy friends celebrating their newfound happiness. As the night continued at the Hard Deck, Mickey and Y/N danced together, reveling in the newfound freedom to express their love openly. The Dagger Squad and their friends watched with affectionate smiles, knowing that this was a moment to cherish.

Selina arrived to the Neath in the fourth 1899, having been told of the city's many wondrous sights. It would have resulted in culture shock even if London was still on the Surface, but she's adjusting well. There's just the matter of the task she's been asked to complete at the Orphanage...

Emory (or sometimes Altan to immediate family) was born in the Neath and has been a zailor all their life - but certainly never a corsair, if the Admiralty's asking. He met Lenora when she requested assistance on a case and ended up being dragged on a thrilling chase halfway across the city. They quickly became friends with benefits, and eventually partners. Since Nora fears the Zee but has found herself needing to zail to various places, she gifted her yacht to Emory and has him take her wherever she needs to go. They've also started compiling as much knowledge as they can on Monstrous Anatomy.

Constance Statham, the Candid Columnist: (she/her, #Constance Statham) Lenora's somewhat inconvenient aunt, who raised her and Lucien following their parents' death at sea. She writes a gossip Society column for the Gazette and is a member of a lesbian polycule ladies' book club.

Lucien S. Kenward (no title yet): (he/him, #Lucien S. Kenward) Lenora's younger brother, a recent arrival to the Neath. He suffered some incident along the way that neither of them will speak of, and has amnesia as a result.

Aubrey Hayes, the Exuberant Rogue: (he/him, #The Exuberant Rogue) Emory's father, who moved to the Neath roughly a decade after London fell. An infamous pirate and duellist, but mostly just out to have fun.

Erdene, the Gilded Corsair: (she/her, #The Gilded Corsair) Emory's mother, a former urchin of Khan's Shadow turned pirate captain. Regularly seen dripping with stolen jewelry.

William Delaney, the Taciturn Explorer: (he/him, #The Taciturn Explorer) Aubrey's best friend, who came along with him to the Neath and has been doing his best to see every corner of it. Emory's honorary uncle and currently a member of their crew.

Khasar (no title yet): (they/he) Emory's reflection. Looks more monstrous than he does, but they're generally friendly. Often found in Parabolan waters or wandering in dream-cities or their ruins.

Evelyn Marlow (no title yet): (she/her) Chief gunner on a New Sequence ship. Joined roughly a decade ago, following an event that ended with her personality slightly eaten away by gant.

what is the Robin timeline in ur headverse? Like what’s the order and where do they end up later in the timeline? (also love ur art its amazing)

okay, stick with me, this is a journey:

Bruce wasn't the first Batman in the headverse, that was an OC named Dr. Aloysius Flying Fox (later just Aloysius Fox). His Robin was John Blake, who's thus first by technicality. Al and John are the headverse's Golden Age Batman and Robin, with a weakened Zod as the Golden Age Superman and Diana back in her role as Golden Age WW since she was born in 1900 as a Century Baby.

Once Bruce becomes Batman, the order of Robins is:

Dick Grayson (adopted as preteen, trains for a year or so and debuts as Robin) who becomes Nightwing around the time he's 18, using a name of Kryptonian animal and a Kandorian bodysuit gifted to him by Clark, giving him a little extra protection even against superhuman foes.

Jason Todd comes on after Dick's moved to San Francisco/Jump City full time with the Titans but before he's Nightwing. He's older than Dick was when he started (so 14-15) and only gets a year or two before Joker kills him. He's revived shortly after by the League of Assassins and trained in the ways of the All-Caste. He returns to Gotham as the Red Hood before completing his training, which causes problems for his Outlaws down the line.

After the incident with Jason, there's a gap where Bruce is mostly operating solo (barring team-ups with other established heroes). Tim, Steph, and Cass all come crashing into his life around the same time after Dick's become Nightwing but before Jason return. Tim is Robin, Steph is Spoiler and Cass is Orphan, but Steph and Cass become a second Robin and Batgirl shortly after coming up the Batman's aegis.

After Jason's return, Tim is Red Robin, Steph and Cass are both Batgirl (barring Cass's time undercover as Kasumi), at which point Damian enters the picture and the whole dynamic blows up. Once everything's kind of settled, Damian is Robin.

Then Crisis Era begins and there's another big shake-up, the functional result of which is the disappearance of the Trinity. This Era is defined by reality breaking apart as a result of various Meta-Cosmic beings (The Hands and The Eyes, Monitors and Looker, Pariah, Old and New Gods, etc) all fighting to survive Perpetua and The King of Tears attempting to resurrect Ultra the Hunter.

Dick and Damian continue on as Batman and Robin for some time. Carrie Kelley is active as Robin as well, but she's from a timeline create and destroyed during the Crisis, so she mostly operates independent of the larger Bat-Family. Jace Fox discovers Aloysius's history as the Lost Batman of Gotham's Golden Age and simultaneously operates as Batman of the Cinderella City (New York).

Dick eventually leaves the mantle, Damian becomes the Outsider, and Jace and his sister Tam operate as Batman and Robin. Cass is the new Batwoman, with Vivian Vale (oc) as Batgirl and Cheyenne Fremont as Nightwing. Steph is Oracle with assists from Barbara. Tim survives being captured by Joker and then splits his costumed adventures between the Black Ace Joker and the Batman Who Laughs.

From there is a jump to the Beyond Era and the emergence of Terrence McGinnis, unknowingly a result of Waller's work to create a reliable Batman of her own, who then bonds with an abandoned picotech symbio-suit being maintained by an older Jace.

Duke's present through the timeline, but as a Monitor-level metahuman, he's sort of on his own trajectory. Harper is concurrent with Steph, Cass, and Tim, all of whom are involved with a Talon using the pseudonym "Turner Hayes" before being revealed as an undead Dexter Dent. Dex is briefly Robin under James Gordon Jr, Waller's first attempt at having a Batman of her own.

Maps Mizoguchi is in here somewhere, probably concurrent with Damian and Carrie during the Crisis. She eventually becomes Meridian (uh, current BoP spoilers I guess).

Jenny Wren claims to be the First Robin but she's just one of Aloysius and John's rogues who became a Talon but got her memory scrambled.

I think I originally had a young Helena Bertinelli as Robin concurrent with Dick to retroactively justify Helena Wayne being named after her, but idk if I'm keeping that or it really makes sense. Otherwise she's Kate Kate's Robin before becoming Huntress. Helena Wayne follows a similar trajectory, but becomes Batman between Cass and Jace but before Terri and Elaina (Dick's daughter with [redacted] and briefly one of the Red X's).

She's still a curvier Apple White but I just made her a little younger. I also think Morgan Lily matches the pinterest Vivi-Design's made of Apple White more than my original one.

If you haven't watched Harlan Coben's Shelter you def should, it's a great show (so sad it got cancelled). Anyways I think Ema is alot like Raven Queen, like a lot like Raven Queen. Also Abigale Corrigan has that emo vibe that Vivi's Raven has and I'm glad I found a FC that fits that.

According to the Google Slides, vivi's Faybelle is Blasian and so is Jada Jones. This picture of her really gave me Faybelle vibes and although she has black hair idc. I feel like this is a good FC for Vivi's Faybelle especially.

I really do wish there was more Inuit celebrities in the industry but I stumbled across Willow Allen and I think she's honestly a beautiful Ashlynn Ella. I do like Anna Lambe as Ashlynn Ella aswell but I decided to use her again in Ever After High for another character. Anyways I think Willow Allen would be a great Ashlynn Ella.

"Chad Parker. I wanted it to be an old aristocratic surname, since Chad is the well-behaved athlete model student and all that.

Sue Hayes*. The surname had to be as tough and prickly as Sue herself.

Tony Brooks. To make a connection with both the vampire and the hunter, I looked for Americanized Polish surnames.

Courtney Summers. Obviously, from the word 'summer'. That's the associations her character evokes.

Johnny Vickers. I wanted the first name and last name to be as mismatched as possible and not go together. They would be full of contradictions, just like Johnny himself."

STORY POINTS

Benjamin Vasilios stopped breathing when he was only 2 days old. His mother’s alcoholism had caused his development to be delayed. It was a miracle he was even alive today.

When he learned the truth of what had happened to him from a family friend, all he wanted was to know what happened and how to help other children like him. He learned what a doctor was and that's what he would be. It never changed.

When he was 10, his biological father up and left. His mother had cheated with another man who would soon become his Stepfather. Before that point, he was relatively close with his mother. Now he blamed both of them for his father leaving.

That was when the fights started. His Stepdad hated the pesky son he was settled with and his mother was drinking more and constantly reprimanding him to respect his "father." If it was up to her— her son would end up just like them. But Benjamin was bound and determined to never let that happen. He hated their constant inability to take decent care of him.

Oftentimes, he found comfort in the librarian as a sort of makeshift mother. All that reading made him realize just how awful his family was and made him wish he had a different one. But he was, at the very least, safe at the library.

Then a whoopsie happened… His mother got pregnant. He was 13 when Josie Reigh was born. And he had been bound and determined to make sure she didn’t suffer the same fate as him. This caused even more fights and broken bottles thrown his way, but it worked. She was alive. She was healthy.

He became somewhat of a teenage father by that point. He picked up all the slack when their parents lacked. But all that lost time and abuse made him self-destructive. He just wasn't allowed to care about himself.

That being said, Benjamin was popular in school. He was well-educated and his teachers loved him. Though, he had very few relationships— which made him a bit of a conquest for other students… He rebelled against the idea constantly.

That didn't mean he didn't date or have girlfriends, he did, but he was really only truly tamed long-term by Allegra Hayes. She ended up being his first love.

The only time Benjamin had really been reckless was in his senior year after graduation. He decided to just let loose and have fun, get a little drunk-- but it wasn't a great idea to have stumbled home in the morning.

When he stepped through the door, his stepfather had been waiting. One of them was hungover and the other was day drunk... Discussing normal teenage behavior wasn't going to go well.

His recklessness caused their biggest argument yet. By the end of it, fists had been thrown and Benjamin had been packing up his things.

He’d have to leave Josie and Allegra. But he didn’t really have a choice. If he stayed, he’d end up killing his Stepdad or his Stepdad would kill him. Allegra would be fine, he knew she would be, but he’d have to leave Josie here until she was legally old enough to leave with him.

When he was ready, he left Josie a small vintage necklace with a white heart charm and kept a similar one in black. He left a kiss on her forehead, stole what he could for money, said goodbye to Allegra, and left in the middle of the night— it was the hardest thing he’d ever done.

His mother had tried to stop him, but he couldn't stay. Nothing she could say would stop him. In those moments, he saw the mother he thought had long disappeared. It just wasn't enough.

The first thing he did was change his last name. His destiny and hard work would never belong to either man. He went with Creed, a name in his mother’s bloodline that was lost with time. He'd give her that.

Finally, he was free. He adventured anywhere and everywhere in his pursuit of learning and eventually became a leading rookie trauma surgeon.

He never forgot about Josie, he never took off his necklace, but he’d been completely cut off from her. It was like he had never even been born. And in his pursuit of living, he just couldn’t leave to try to get her back. He wasn’t even sure he could take care of her at his level. So— he lived until he was stable.

The last thing he wanted was to become what his biological father was to him for Josie. He couldn't just disappear forever.

And so, the second he was stable enough, he packed up what he could and left for his hometown, ready to finally be the big brother he was meant to be.

Herbie Hancock - The Spook Who Sat By The Door (OST)

Herbie Hancock's Head Hunters turns 50 years old this month — whatever the actual release date is, it should be a national holiday, right? Over on Aquarium Drunkard, you can check out one of the earliest glimpses we have of Herbie and the Headhunters, a live-in-the-studio FM broadcast out on Long Island.

If that well-traveled recording is old news to you, then how about this? Herbie's score for The Spook Who Sat By The Door, Ivan Dixon's 1973 action/spy flick based on the book of the same name. As a soundtrack album, it's a little confusing — it seems as though United Artists released an LP sometime in '73 or '74, but good luck finding a copy. Some collectors say it doesn't actually exist!

But Herbie's funky, cinematic music is stellar; you'll hear "Actual Proof" which opens the WLIR tape and would be re-recorded for Thrust. But there's plenty of unique music, too, featuring Hancock and co. flexing their blaxploitation-style muscles. Watch out, Isaac Hayes! The soundtrack isn't the only thing that's hard to come by ... the film itself doesn't seem to be streaming in any official capacity, even though it's in the National Film Register (and was referenced on a recent season of Atlanta). Get thee to YouTube to check it out while you can — it's very good.
