Alexander eats slowly, methodically as though he’s figuring out the way to store and conserve the most energy.  He eats like a soldier about to battle and Magnus can’t wait to strip away that trained instinct and pamper him instead.  A pampered, pretty nephilim, waiting for him in his bed isn’t a wish Magnus thought he had, but it’s a reality he’s going to have over his father’s dead body.

Lilith’s as well, if she causes any trouble.  Perhaps even if she doesn’t, if she proves annoying enough. 

Magnus’ isn’t interested in carrying on a futile feud with an outdated specimen like his father is.

Magnus reaches out with a glass full of fae wine, lighter in flavor but still heavy with magic and Alexander’s accepts the press of it to his lips, drinking obediently, throat swallowing willingly as he consumes wine and Magnus’ magic. 

Magnus knows a variety of ways of ways to integrate his magic into Alexander’s entire being, but it is a slow process, even with a willing vessel.  Magnus will use any shortcuts available until the time where he is king and can properly imbue his essence into Alexander. In the end, Alexander will be his completely and Magnus finds that he likes the thought of that immensely.  The idea of binding Alexander to him, body and soul, it stokes a lust in him that he only recognizes because of his father.

This is Edom’s lust.  This is the magic of the entire realm answering him, encouraging him to claim what he desires.  The whole of Edom is realigning itself to help and this is something that won’t go unnoticed.

Magnus’ plans for a coup have been moved up. 

Both Asmodeus and Lilith will retreat to lick their wounds and try to figure out what made Edom react so. 

But it will be too late for them. 

Edom has chosen, as Magnus had been waiting for her to for centuries.  However long, it’s been worth the wait.  He now understands why Edom lingered in her choice 0f sovereign for so many years.  She’s always been attuned to him, protective and adoring, but until now, there has been nothing that Magnus has wanted to keep as much as he wants to keep Alexander. 

Lilith desired a child with all of her might. 

Asmodeus lusted for power beyond what he could contain and was never to be satiated and Magnus, Magnus has what he wants, unlike Lilith or Asmodeus.

The satisfaction and glee that come from possessing what he wants elevates him, to where Edom is greedily leeching off his lust and power, taking it from him and returning it to him with her own, boosted magic in tithe. 

Edom lusts, just as her sovereigns do. But both Lilith and Asmodeus have lusted for centuries and never felt satisfaction or been sated.  Magnus realizes now that he lusted too little, but in just a few days, he’s accomplished what Lilith and his father were never able to, to sate that lust, even just a bit. 

Lilith’s child, a fosterling shadowhunter, the closest she’s ever had to birthing her own child, has never truly loved her and so Lilith’s lust for motherhood has only grown. She’s not been nourished, but taunted with exactly what she wants but no way to force a child she’s only partially raised to love her. 

Asmodeus lusts for power.  All-consuming power to finally prove that he is the best but nothing he achieves is ever enough and no power he gains ever makes him content.

But Magnus finds himself sated.

Alexander called out for Magnus. Alexander is relying on Magnus to protect him and Magnus has never felt such a rush of satisfaction, nor the sudden lust to taste it again and savor it even longer.

The problem with a lot of traffic life interpretations in my opinion is they don't understand character foils or don't employ them in their writing. Grian-Martyn and Scar-Ren are genuinely pretty good character foils for a series that is not really scripted or planned out like a book is. I could go on and on about how they parallel each other and the similarities between them. Even the smaller details between the four usually match up

I think it’s interesting how as time goes on Zoro kind of becomes more and more like mihawk in some ways whether that’s just because if you spend time with someone for 2 years you’re bound to pick up their habits or a deliberate attempt to emulate him is a conversation for another time. And Mihawk and Zoro where already pretty similar at the start so it’s a little hard to notice now.

But yeah whether unconsciously or consciously Zoro is becoming a bit more like Mihawk and it’s interesting to think that while this means maturing in some ways (he’s swordsmanship for one but he’s also just quieter much more assured of himself) it also means deaging in some others.

Despite their significant age gap and general dispositions, when it comes down to it Zoro is just a lot more emotionally mature and developed than Mihawk is. And a big part of why is because he found something larger than himself to devote his life too, hell Mihawk himself even kind of acknowledges this when he agrees to take Zoro on as a student when Zoro begs for the sake of his captain and crew. He acknowledges that putting aside his own ego and dreams for the sake of someone else isn’t something he can do and sees it as a fault in himself and a strength in Zoro.

Mihawk may be outwardly mature and his skills defiently did not stagnant but I’d wager that Mentally Mihawk is still stuck at the same age he was when he took over the title of world’s strongest swordsman. Honestly maybe even younger. And it isn’t until training Zoro, letting Perona stay with him, for probably the first time in his life taking charge of lives outside his own did he finally unarrest his development.

If Zoro is purposely trying to emulate Hawkeyes, which it wouldn’t be a surprise if he was that’s who he’s trying to be Afterall, then it would honestly set him back emotionally because fundamentally as he is now Mihawk’s attitude doesn’t work in a crew. It’s too singular, too abrasive. And while that abrasiveness can be useful in Zoro’s role as Luffy’s first mate sometimes it makes him a little too callous a little too apathetic, like with his disregard for Luffy’s sadness over vegapunk.

But Zoro has his crew to temper that, they are honestly just too ridiculous to ever stay serious around. And try as he might to hide it Zoro is also just a silly dude who likes to be horrifically petty with his opponents. And zoro still has so much fire in him, so much he has too prove and so much he wants to protect to ever really fall into Mihawk’s apathy. Zoro has Luffy who even after they reach their dreams will probably still continue to turn the world upside down forever keeping Zoro in some kind of trouble and his life interesting.

Zoro can’t be Mihawk because even Mihawk can’t be Mihawk anymore. Being with crossguild and crossing with the Red hair pirates and the strawhats is going to change him, it has too. if Mihawk is going to live after losing his title he’s probably gonna have to become a little bit more like Zoro.

Edom claims him then. Wraps her power around him and elevates him beyond his wildest, wistful fantasies.

Magnus laughs as his magic settles around him, a vibrant purple hue.  The color of royals. The color of his birthright and the throne Magnus has claimed.

Lilith and Asmodeus fight because Edom remains unclaimed and claims no one.  She allows them to battle across her lands but there is no satisfaction.  Edom was created by lust.  But what is lust that is never sated but a ravenous and gnawing hunger that brings no satisfaction or satiation.

A millennium without a king, and Magnus is the one found worthy.

Magnus will not have to make a deal with one of his uncles. He will not have to activate the thousands of arrays he’s laid throughout Edom. Magnus will not even have to consecrate his ascension with blood, but he will, because that’s what he wants and now none can defy him.

Or deny him.

Magnus stares at the delicate, fading tendril if magic connected to Alexander.

With his unofficial coronation, his powers have expounded and he can see it now.

It’s a silvery blue so bright its almost painful to look at and it’s Alexander’s soul tether. It’s the one part of his angel that he doesn’t own and it’s the only thing that ties him to other realms.  It’s undoubtedly how Raziel is planning on someday claiming Alexander’s soul someday, as if Magnus would ever deign to part with any piece of Alexander.

Purple magic fills the room.

Magnus is lost in the lust of his anger and the depth of his desires. Edom, eager for another taste of satisfaction bends to his will and the line snaps. 

Alexander screams from the bed. A soul deep, heart breaking sound that Magnus can barely hear for the roaring of triumph in his ears.

Alexander’s soul is adrift.  It is untethered and Magnus reaches out with his magic and catches it.  He braids his own and Edom’s magic together until he can wrap it around Alexander’s soul.  He snatches it away from Raziel and ties it to his own magic, the magic of Edom.

Alexander’s wails but Magnus can’t hear him over the gleeful satisfaction he shares with Edom as Alexander’s soul is successfully claimed.  There is a soft, quiet sob and Magnus looks down, honestly surprised to see Alexander awake and staring at him with pain hazed and tear-filled eyes.

Magnus hushes him absently, fingers pressing magic to Alexander’s lips and ignoring the question Alexander tries to speak around them.  It works instantly, Alexander knows that it will bring relief and he suckles the magic without resistance, letting the magic soothe them both, his mouth hot and desperate around Magnus’ fingers.

And Magnus works his magic into Alexander and lets Edom tether him even more tightly to her.  Alexander’s soul is full of wounds and Magnus lanced them all.  He cauterizes them now, branding Alexander’s soul with the unholy and divine magic of a fallen angel and feels the last link slip into place.

Alexander belongs to Magnus and Edom now, completely and utterly. His life is now tied to Edom’s magic, forcing him to endure immortality, for Magnus’ wills it. His soul will never rest with his ancestors and Raziel shall never welcome him home.

Magnus laughs, delight and awe at himself and at Edom filling him.  Awe at what he’s done and at what he’s gained.

Alexander whimpers under him, teeth grazing Magnus’ knuckles as he quietly begs for attention.

“Now,” Magnus tells him softly, pressing a kiss to Alexander’s forehead and then his cheek. “Even Edom has claimed you, little angel. You will never stray from her lands, or from me.” Magnus slides his fingers free slowly, teasing Alexander as he takes them away before he soothes Alexander with a deep kiss.

Magnus can taste the spark of his own magic and also the new flavor of Edom and he’s hungry for it.  Greedy to chase the magic and claim Alexander’s mouth, to fuck it possessively with Magnus’ eager tongue and make Alexander shake around him.

Alexander is still raw from the snapping of his soul and the new anchor of it to Edom, but Magnus doesn’t care.

Magnus has him protected now, kept safe in a web that will never fully untangle. The same royal magic that crowns Magnus keeps Alexander both contained and safe and Magnus hums in contentment as he brushes his fingers over Alexander’s face and carefully holds him still.

So in chapter 8, when MC has their flashback of being held in Valax's dungeon, it's your LI who helps them come back to their senses. And if it's one of the main four, they all say something sweet along the lines of, 'It's alright, I'm here for you.' But if it's Aerin, he says, 'I know what you're feeling.' And I mean, obviously, who else can relate to MC's experience more than the man who spent the year locked up in a dungeon himself, but omg. The writers are so real for adding this detail.

But Lilith being in Heaven opens so much questions

She was redeemed then. The Queen of Hell became an Angel

How?? Why???

Because we know Angels can fall and go down to Hell if they want to. But also that souls can indeed get redeemed.

Ultimate sacrifice is one of the reasons. But she didn't seem to care about Charlie (she let Lute call her daughter a brat and a bitch)

Which comes to mind, who gave Charlie the idea of souls being able to go to Heaven? In the first episode Charlie said the whole hotel idea was to make her mom proud. So Lilith knew then?

And that goes back to Alastor and him leaving when he almost kicked the bucket. If the deal was to protect Charlie, he shouldnt have been able to leave the battle. But he did. And him being scared to die when in his backstory is said he went against overpowered Overlords with no fear?

What if

What if Alastor had actually died. By Lilith's hands. And Lilith went to Heaven. And since sinners can respawn, Lilith went down and keep killing Alastor over and over again until he made a deal with her.

And he didnt ask for Charlie's soul because he doesnt want to inflict the same pain. He doesnt want to own souls and the only one he does is Husk's (but because Husk was going to lose it to anyone else either way). And hence why he keeps helping Charlie: she is freeing sinners from whatever ties they could have, like he did, only that he destroyed them while Charlie is redeeming them

Obsessed with how Claudia and Soren view magic.

Claudia views magic as something amazing and special, even dark magic despite having to ‘harvest’ from living creatures in order to use it. Because in the end how could something that helps her friends and family be bad? How could something that saved an entire kingdom from starvation be evil?

Soren meanwhile doesn’t care about dark magic vs primal magic. In his eyes Dark magic can be used for immense good just as much as Primal magic can be used for horrific evils. At the end of the day all magic has ever done is divide people and cause years of suffering.

But they are both such hypocrites (affectionate).

Claudia views dark magic as a gift, something to take pride in having. But when she is finally broken down she reflects back she feels disgusted at herself for viewing living creatures as parts. Then when pushed into a dangerous situation she cried out “Don’t make me! Don’t make me do dark magic!”

Soren believes the world would be better without magic at all. Yet he turned to it, he looked his father in his eyes and said “You have your other way! Dark magic.” Not caring that Viren explained the original spell was a primal spell and the new spell would require a terrible sacrifice.
