Later, Daniel hid his notebooks and laptop after they had eaten, insisting the whole point of escaping out to the old ranch was to relax. He had refused to tell Lando where they were, promising to return them in the morning for a bit but right now, it was just for them to kick back and watch some awful movies on Netflix while drinking cheap beer that made Lando’s face scrunch up.

Daniel teased him endlessly but he’d let Lando rest his legs in his lap.

His thumb had brushed over the bone of his ankle in soothing circles once they had stopped acting like kids and tossing popcorn at each other. It was soft and soothing, and Lando was glad that the lights were turned down. There was no way Daniel would see the blush on his cheeks that definitely wasn’t from his beer. By the time they stumbled down the hallway, laughing with Daniel’s arm around Lando’s shoulder until they split up into different bedrooms. Closing the door felt like a jolt to the heart as Lando stood there, hand pressed to wood. The ghost of Daniel’s warmth haunting him and Lando ached.

It didn’t help that he knew what or rather who he would see coming out of the jet. He still had to brace himself, shut his eyes until he saw white and yellow spots dancing under his closed eyelids. Breath in, breath out. You can do it. You have to. He tried to remind himself why he agreed to this.

WINTERBIRBS!!!!! MAGIC AU

Sam figures he’s a novelty for them. Magic’s rare these days, and Sam’s got enough self-confidence that he knows what he does is pretty damn fantastic - birds burst into song, red sparks at his fingertips, and he’s getting the hang of hovering (not quite flying, but close.)

Thing is, with Clint squeezed close as he can get in Sam’s arms and Bucky pressing lazy, sleepy kisses to the back of Sam’s neck, he realizes he’s been waiting for them to get bored of him for a year now and it hasn’t happened.

This fic will be about Nico Rosberg and Nico Hülkenberg explicitly - it's purely platonic, though. I got this idea through Em ( @sambirb I hope you know you're awesome as fuck 🫶🏻) the one time they showed a photo of the Welsh name of a bird, which happens to be Nico.

It'll be a bittersweet fic, where one Nico will give comfort to the other, who feels like he isn't enough and doesn't live up to certain expectations.

An ornithology book is involved as well, lmao.

Until one day, one of them brings along a book on ornithology. And they spot that they're named after a bird.
