THIS is exactly the type of censorship to be looking out for on tiktok. this actually is crazy.

I've signed up to write a Stuckyfic. Thinking of adding another auction for art, and a third for beta reading/proofreading. Whaddya think?
30 hours into the signup window …
and we are blowing past last year's (record-setting!) numbers. Can't hardly even see them in the rear view mirror …
Last year, at 29 hours we had 223 individual creators offering 312 auctions in 88 listed fandoms and 76 write-in fandoms.
This year? Well.
We have 354 individual creators offering 496 auctions in 106 listed fandoms and 124 write-in fandoms.
That's … amazing.
The listed fandoms with the most signups (so far!) are:
48 Good Omens 48 MXTX (works) * 40 K-Pop * 31 Sherlock Holmes * 31 Marvel * 21 DC * 21 Star Wars * 19 Teen Wolf
And for our unlisted fandoms:
5 Jeff Satur - Music Videos 4 Zhen Hun / Guardian (drama and novel) 3 Cabin Pressure 3 Control (Remedy Game) 3 Fire Emblem Awakening 3 Fire Emblem Fates 3 Schitt's Creek 3 The Goblin Emperor Series - Katherine Addison 3 Transformers 3 Zhen Hun / Guardian (drama) RPF
Over in our supported orgs, most creators are leaving the decision to their bidders, but among those who are choosing specific ones, the any/all option for the umbrella category is doing very well. Just below them three orgs keep changing places - MECA, the Young Center, and Freedom to Read are neck and neck with their positions swapping (again!) AS WE'RE TYPING this post.
Also of note, we have 26 fan labor offers - so far!
Stay tuned for deeper dives into the un/listed fandom numbers, and for a round up of the various types of fan labor on offer.
Signups are OPEN! Join us to boost your fandom's presence!

FTH Signup: Changes and what to expect
The FTH signup form is long and can be confusing, especially for newbies! We've put together a brief overview document so you know what information you'll be expected to provide for your auctions. Please note that there is no "acceptance" process! If you fill out the form, we will generate an auction for you.
Here is the full list of this year's listed fandoms, but remember you can write in any fandoms you want that aren't on the menu!
If this isn't your first rodeo, please note the following changes from previous years:
You can now set a requirement that you will only accept bidders age 18+. It is important to note that if you do this, we cannot actually prevent minors from bidding on you! However, it will be noted clearly on your auction post, and if you later learn that your high bidder is under the age of 18, you will be released from your obligation and they will be banned.
You can now offer multiple Written fanwork subtypes in one auction
Podfics now have shorter length options
We have split the content notes into four sections instead of three: Characters/pairings you are especially interested in, Subjects/tropes you're especially interested in, Anything you are NOT willing to address, and Other Notes. Each of these has a limit of 1500 characters. Note that you will need to fit your information for all chosen fandoms in this space.
Adding to the specialty tags Ace/aro characters, Gen/platonic works, and Rarepairs
Major changes to the fandom list:
Four new umbrella fandoms with subfandoms: MXTX works, HBO War, Minecraft Youtubers, and Thai BL. Note that MXTX's works will NOT be grouped together on the tag list on Dreamwidth, only for signup purposes, unlike most umbrella fandoms.
We are introducing a new "Any fandom I've created in before" option. This will take up one of your three fandom slots, but will NOT be tagged, therefore if you choose this option, we recommend you also choose your two most active fandoms to help bidders find you. Also be sure that the list of fandoms you've created in before is either in your auction text or easily found via your portfolio link.
One more big change that returning participants will notice: we are changing the listing format to have one auction per post, rather than combining all of a creator's auctions into one. We hope that this will make the auction simpler to navigate for everyone.
Signups open January 20 - take a moment now to read the full document to remind yourself what information you'll need, and reread our FAQ to make sure you understand our policies!

Fandom Trumps Hate Podfic Testimonial!
As a creator, I've only had positive experiences in the three years I've participated in Fandom Trumps Hate. Each time, I've offered my services as both a writer and a podficcer.
Something to remember when you sign up for Fandom Trumps Hate is that you can tailor your offering to suit yourself as a creator. This goes beyond selecting fandoms and the length of the podfic(s) you'll create. You can request that your high bidder choose works that already have permission to podfic. You can specify content that you're not comfortable engaging with. You can tell bidders what you're good at, what you enjoy, and what they can expect if you create a podfic for them.
My first year, I recorded a fic chosen and written by my high bidder. They were lovely about everything--patient when I had to re-record a chapter, enthusiastic about my work, and full of praise when I posted.
My second and third years, I curated a "playlist" of podfics for my high bidders based on their favourite fandoms, tropes, pairings, and podfic styles. It was a fun way for me to get to know my bidders, and a lovely surprise for them whenever I posted a new work.
My point here is, FTH is not a one-size-fits-all for bidders or creators. It's designed so that your auction reflects what will inspire you creatively, so bidders who want you and the fanworks only you can create are able to find and connect with you.
For me, FTH is motivation and inspiration to create podfics for someone who will appreciate and enjoy my work, and a way to contribute to a good cause.
Finally, here is my experience as a bidder...FTH bidders are wild for podfics. I've been outbid on every auction, three years in a row. :)

FTH 2025 Supported Org: Environmental Integrity Project
Climate crisis is here, and it’s urgent. Rising global temperatures and shrinking wildlands have caused a cascade of disasters for humans and non-humans alike. But although some of the effects of climate change are beyond the point of reversal, many can still be rolled back or avoided entirely – if we all work together.
EIP uses legal expertise and technical analysis to combat the air and water pollution, challenge permits that are too lax to protect public health, take legal actions against big polluters, advocate for stronger regulations, and release reports and data to inform the public about the many problems caused by fossil fuels. They also scrutinize the water and air emissions from factory farms, and use this data as part of their national efforts to push EPA to more closely regulate the pollution that livestock and agricultural runoff dump into our waterways.
You can support Environmental Integrity Project as a creator in the 2025 FTH auction (or as a bidder, when the time comes to donate for the auctions you’ve won.)

FTH 2025 Supported Org: Freedom To Read Foundation
Book and Library Censorship data show evidence of a growing, well-organized, conservative political movement, the goals of which include removing books about race, history, gender identity, sexuality, and reproductive health from America's public and school libraries that do not meet their approval. Librarians who don't capitulate have found themselves the targets of hostility and harassment.
The Freedom to Read Foundation was established to promote and defend the first Amendment right of individuals to express ideas without governmental interference, and to read and listen to the ideas of others ideas without governmental interference; to foster libraries as institutions wherein every individual's First Amendment freedoms are fulfilled; and to support the right of libraries to include in their collections and make available any work which they may legally acquire.
The Freedom to Read Foundation works to make sure the interests of libraries, librarians, and library goers are represented in the courts, and defends the interests of the press, book stores, authors, artists, and the public to speak and have access to information.
You can support Freedom to Read Foundation as a creator in the 2025 FTH auction (or as a bidder, when the time comes to donate for the auctions you’ve won.)

FTH 2025 Supported Org: News Literacy Project
In the age of the internet, one of the greatest threats to public well-being is misinformation. The sheer volume of available information is enough to cause us mental and emotional damage that can make it more difficult to react thoughtfully. Furthermore, our information environment is saturated in misinformation and disinformation, often explicitly engineered to drive our political choices. Furthermore, in the past few weeks, Meta has followed X's lead and decided to discontinue fact-checking on Facebook and Instagram.
A few days after the election, the head of Media Matters described the United States as "pickled in misinformation," and all signs suggest that the problem is getting worse, not better.
The News Literacy Project, a nonpartisan education nonprofit founded in 2008, aims to improve news literacy -- the ability to determine the credibility of news and other information and to recognize the standards of fact-based journalism to know what to trust, share and act on -- in this challenging, high-speed information environment. The NLP is building a national movement to create systemic change in American education to ensure all students are skilled in news literacy before they graduate high school, giving them the knowledge and ability to participate in civic society as well-informed, critical thinkers. A more news-literate populace will be less likely to fall for online hoaxes, and also better equipped to make well-informed decisions about our common lives and governance.
You can support News Literacy Project as a creator in the 2025 FTH auction (or as a bidder, when the time comes to donate for the auctions you’ve won.)

FTH 2025 Supported Org: Global Project Against Hate and Extremism
In recent years, far-right extremist and hate movements motivated by white supremacy, xenophobia, anti-LGBTQ+ beliefs, antisemitism, anti-Muslim sentiment, religious discrimination, anti-woman activity, and gender bias have been growing across the globe (US numbers here).
The consequence of the growth in these movements is violence and the dangerous integration of bigoted and racist ideas into societal discourse, government policies, and political platforms. Increasingly, as far-right extremist movements have gained in strength, established taboos around far-right extremism have collapsed as mainstream political parties cooperate with extremists once considered out of bounds.
The growth of the far-right is the root cause for why we cannot move forward on so many global challenges from racial and social justice to critical issues such as the climate crisis. This rise of white supremacy, transnational hate and far-right extremism is perhaps the greatest threat to inclusive societies and democracies worldwide.
GPAHE believes that to protect and advance human rights, particularly those of marginalized and underrepresented communities, build inclusive democracies, and solve global challenges, they must expose and counter the far-right actors and movements that undermine those values. They employ research, advocacy, activism, and education to counter the rising tide of extremism across borders.
You can support Global Project Against Hate and Extremism as a creator in the 2025 FTH auction (or as a bidder, when the time comes to donate for the auctions you’ve won.)

FTH 2025 Supported Org: Fight for the Future Education Fund
Technology has the power to transform our society, upend injustice, and hold powerful people and institutions accountable. But it can also be used to silence the marginalized, automate oppression, and trample our basic rights. Fight for the Future fights to defend technology as a force for liberation, not tyranny.
Fight for the Future Education Fund harnesses the power of the Internet to channel outrage into action, defending our most basic rights in the digital age. They fight to ensure that technology is a force for empowerment, free expression, and liberation rather than tyranny, corruption, and structural inequality. They are an intentionally small, fierce team of technologists, creatives, and policy experts working to educate and mobilize at an unprecedented scale, achieving victories previously thought to be impossible.
FFtFEF recognizes that tech policy issues have a disproportionate impact on communities of color, low income people, religious minorities, political dissidents, LGBTQ people, and others who face systemic oppression. They fight for policy victories that make the biggest difference for the people who are most affected.
You can support Fight for the Future Education Fund as a creator in the 2025 FTH auction (or as a bidder, when the time comes to donate for the auctions you’ve won.)

FTH 2025 Supported Org: Hope for Ukraine
Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in 2022 triggered a massive humanitarian crisis. In the nearly two years since that initial military assault, more than ten million Ukrainians have been displaced: nearly 6.5 million are living as refugees throughout Europe, while almost 4 million remain within their country’s borders but are displaced from their homes due to ongoing violence and the destruction of basic infrastructure.
Although other more recent crises have captured the attention of activists and humanitarians around the world, the need for assistance and support remains acute.
Hope For Ukraine was established with a mission to provide assistance with food, shelter, and education to the needy people in Ukraine. The full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022 served as a rallying cry for Hope for Ukraine. In the face of hardship, they redirected their efforts to address the urgent needs of those affected by the conflict. Their primary focus shifted to providing food, clothes, shelter, and medical support to people affected by the war.
You can support Hope for Ukraine as a creator in the 2025 FTH auction (or as a bidder, when the time comes to donate for the auctions you’ve won.)

Podficcers (and podfic-receivers): tell us about your FTH experience!
A few years ago, after we noticed that fan labor auctions weren't getting as much love as some other kinds of offers, we put out a call for fan labor testimonials, asking both fan laborers and FL-auction winners to share their stories -- and fan labor offers have had a lot more takers, ever since. (Don't worry, we'll be doing this again! we love hearing those stories.)
This year, we're hoping to do a mirror version of this for podfics. FTH bidders are already very enthusiastic about podfics; in fact, in two out of our eight years of running this auction, the highest-bid offers were for podfic, even though we only have a few dozen podfic offers out of several hundred total.
One of our goals this year is to recruit lots more podficcers to offer fanworks. If you are:
a podficcer who has had a good experience doing FTH
a bidder who has won a podfic auction (or even someone who has tried to!)
please tell us about it! Let's persuade the FTH-ambivalent podficcers out there that they will be loved and appreciated. Tag us in your post and we will reblog it!

FAM fanworks for a better world!
So okay: on one level, every FAM fanwork already makes the world a better place just by existing. Yes? Yes.
But consider: what if your fanwork could also fulfill the hopes and wishes of another FAM fan, and raise some money for a progressive nonprofit, all at the same time? Could all of these amazing things be possible at once, even in our timeline?
friends: they can.
When you sign up to create a fanwork for the @fandomtrumpshate auction, you are giving your fellow fans the opportunity to prompt you. Those fans will bid competitively for that opportunity, and the winner will make a donation to one of the amazing nonprofits on this year's auction list. After that, you'll have until the end of 2025 to work out a prompt with your winning bidder and create their fanwork.
The full auction calendar is here (along with links to the FAQ, some information about the Crafts Bazaar, and other useful info) but the main thing you need to know right now is that creator sign-ups begin on January 20th and run until February 2. You've still got some time to decide... but start thinking about it now! It's also definitely not too early to start plotting your bids on your fellow fans
Feel free to reach out to me, @tiltedsyllogism, if you have any questions -- or else just go follow @fandomtrumpshate! (or both.)
