The rooftops of Zaun are much the same, even after all these years. Lonely, desloate, fragile...just like the promise of a better tomorrow. A promise long turned to ashes. How could Vi have been so naive? She stares into the starfog masking Piltover, a mirror to the confusion inside.

Just what even is she, now?

A prisoner, a scrapper, a fighter... A protector who lost all she was protecting.

"I thought I'd find you here." Vi tenses. That voice... Another trick of her restless mind. She ignores the footsteps, tries not to flinch at the fingers touching her arm. It's not real...she's not real... Vi turns, meeting a cool, azure gaze. Caitlyn doesn't speak. Her eyes trace the black paint on Vi's cheeks, smeared from sweat and tears. Her fingers come closer, wiping her cheekbone.

Exposing the tattoo that proclaims her name.

The name Vi wanted to bury forever.

"You can't hide from me." Caitlyn's voice, soft, edged with steel. "And you can't hide from who you are, Vi."

Vi shivers.

"You're not real," she mutters.

Caitlyn lunges, trapping Vi between her arms. Her breath is hot on Vi's lips, so close. Too close. Not close enough.

"If you don't think I'm real..." Caitlyn's whisper sends shivers through Vi. "Perhaps I'd best prove otherwise."

My piece for the City of Progress Discord Server Secret Mongoose event for @therealsokka2412 , the prompt was 'You don't have to be so perfect all the time', so I drew Vi comforting Caitlyn in the garden as Cait stresses over planning her mother's funeral. Merry Christmas Durds and I hope you have a great New Year too!

The element of surprise...

A piercing howl tears through the streets, and Vi flinches.

She's been hearing it more and more these nights, along with the flurry of fearful whispers about a demon prowling.

Of course, she dismisses it, tucking her hands into her pockets to limp back home after winning her last bout.

But then she hears the gunshot, and a scream.

And she's running back the way's she come, scaling gutters, leaping from rooftop to rooftop. It can't be real, she knows it, but on the slim chance it could be...

She dives into a dark alley, and she can't believe it.

A clammy Caitlyn slumps against the wall, her hand clamped to her side. Blood seeps through her shirt, her jacket, and Vi swears.

"What the hell are you doing here?!"

She rips Caitlyn's arm free of her coat sleeve, setting her down and pressing her own bandaged hand against the claw marks.

Caitlyn blinks.

"Fancy...seeing you here."

Based on that meme where an innocent character learns a swear word and another character gets overprotective, except as Isha is non verbal I had her learn a rude gesture...
