A fun aquarium scene for BluecanLee on twitter- a challenge to get out of my usual color-comfort zone, but a great excuse to break out the fluorescent pink. Gouache, colored pencil, and acrylic on watercolor paper.

Have a little cut of some videos of fish I took at the Haus des Meeres (Ocean House) in Vienna today!
They have reptiles, birds and monkeys too!
Also the building is a remodeled Wehrturm (air defence tower and bunker in the 2 worldwar). It's 11 stories high. (I hope I wrote that right)
Edit:
Here's a floorplan:

Clownfish
Clownfish are small saltwater fish that are good for beginner saltwater tank keepers as they are peaceful and easily cohabbed with other species of fish. Clownfish require a 20 gallon tank with a salinity of 1.021 to 1.026 at 22°c to 27°c.
Clownfish are omnivores and it's recommended you feed them a mix of both plant and animal foods such as live brine shrimp, bloodworms, and many different types of vegetables, fish pellets and flakes are also available but be sure to check if all the nutrients required in a clownfishes diet are present in the food
It's recommended that clownfish are kept with an anemone in their tank, which would require a tank with 50 gallons or more capacity. Clownfish are communal fish and prefer to be kept in groups of 5 or more fish. However, you should never mix species of clownfish in the same tank as this will cause aggression in the clownfish.
If an anemone is not provided, it's required that some sort of hide is provided for the clownfish either in the form of tank decor or other corals, there's also silicon anemones that work as substitutes for the real thing.
clownfish are really adorable fish! they don't get overly big, and i think they're sweet little creatures. Their colours are super vibrant, and because of their peaceful nature, they're super easygoing with most other species of peaceful fish.
my rating: ★ ★ ★ ☆ ☆

Every once in a while, it’s nice to stop and watch fish swim, and corals grow. And watch Flat Stanley do his hover-swim.

I'm transitioning from a freshwater aquarium to a saltwater aquarium today. I started out by going to two pet shops nearby to ask their opinion: could I just dump some salt in my freshwater tank and go from there?
No, ma'am, you most certainly cannot. Three different people told me that. So here I went, emptying it out:
Tumblr media
Here's my canister filter about to get vinegar-ed (I chose vinegar instead of bleach because I didn't trust myself to use bleach):
Tumblr media
I couldn't get all the water out, so I used every towel in the house to first empty the water, then clean the tank with vinegar and water, and then the rest of the towels in the house to soak up all the vinegar water.
Tumblr media
So fresh and so clean!
Here is my tank after dumping new sand (can't use the old sand because it's got bacteria that could harm my saltwater stuff), filling with water (that got on the walls, and the ceiling, and all over the floor while I wrestled the hose), water conditioner, and 75 gallons worth of salt into it. Now we wait!
Tumblr media
I plan on using my current 10 gallon saltwater tank to seed this one. I have a black clown fish and a damsel that I can put in in about a week after I have the filter media seed it. Yay saltwater!

My favorite thing about myself is that when i decided to get into aquariums i almost didn’t even want to keep shrimp and just wanted fish but now whenever i go to the pet store I’ll go look at the aquatic centers and go 😗 hmmmmmm at the Hundreds of different fishies but then I’ll turn around and Gasp jaw on the floor and freak out over the sight of any Crustacean the size of my hand. Craydads lobsters saltwater shrimp vampire shrimp……lidderly enamored with red water bugs and i mean it
