#mando season 1 was great bc it had confined scope #after that it got too big imho

yes you’re SO right about all of this

imho while star wars movies are well suited to live action, the tv shows are best in animation. star wars, to feel like star wars, requires incredible spectacles to snare the audience, like flashy lightsaber combat, battles in space, and the environments of a thousand planets. that's all very expensive to make look convincing in live action. it's very possible for a two hour movie, but fucking hell it's expensive to do that for a full season of a tv show. disney is not here to spend half a movie budget per episode on a tv show for a streaming platform, yk? they do their best (and exploit labor) to make the episodes within the constraints, but they will never be able to match what is possible visually on a much smaller budget with animation. imho the last few seasons of rebels, and this last season of bad batch, both created vast, beautiful environments and complex action sequences, with stunts and effects that would be a bitch and a half to do in live action. it looked incredible and just felt like good star wars. so yeah. live action tv is just a difficult medium and the storytelling suffers as a result, and animation is great for star wars. tbh i wish it got more respect.

There are many fanfic authors who bust their asses off writing a variety of relationship dynamics for multiple fandoms. There are numerous fluffy Kylo fic writers just as there are numerous dark Kylo fic writers. The same for other ADCU characters. Claiming that such authors are rare is an insult to those hard working writers, namely the newer ones and the ones who would give anything for feedback on their work.

You can praise one author without insulting countless others.

lackluster writing. it’s not about length for me. it’s about intention, reciprocity, and attention to detail. (lack of art is hardly relative to experience imho. bad writing is just bad.)

I’m sure you’ve seen The Source’s leaks by now but wow, I’m hoping the great and wonderful web will one day “accidentally” leak the alleged 3 hour cut of the movie that we all deserved to see. Who knows if any of it is true.

What’s done is done and wishes are just that. No point in dwelling, just enjoy what we were given and the magnificent fandom around it.

But. But. Imagine.

Imagine, Rose having stuff to do and an actual arc instead of being sidelined because The Mouse wants the big scawy wacists to still be their fwiend.

Imagine seeing, on screen, Finn move something using the Force and being stunned. Imagine knowing that was the big secret he wanted to tell Rey.

Imagine actual quiet moments where Daisy and Adam could use their acting skills to make us feel something. Scenes in which Rey reflects quietly on a sinister past she feels within her. Imagine Kylo throughout the entire film being disturbed and us explicitly seeing him struggle to push away feelings of regret and remorse.

Imagine it being clearly defined that Kylo ceased to be when Rey healed Ben.

Imagine it being clearly defined that it was Leia using all the power she had to send Ben a projection of Han from her own memories and Ben’s. And that she didn’t just die from the “hardship” of whispering his name.

Imagine actual visible Jedi force ghosts standing behind Rey, just as the Sith stand behind the emperor.

Imagine it being clear that Jannah is Lando’s daughter and he’s not a borderline creep.

Imagine Ben’s death scene being 4 minutes longer with dialogue. Imagine the amazing acting we missed out on.

Imagine no awkward af kiss but meaningful and beautiful intimacy instead.

Imagine being a company so shitty as to threaten and block a director to the point he wanted his name off the credits.

Imagine cutting 15 minutes out of a movie before premiere without telling the director!!!

A short list of my greivances and complaints abt SW:TCW before I go back to singing its and Dave Filoni’s praises bc dude seriously wtf:

“George said Jango and Boba weren’t real Mandalorians” I recognize he’s made a decision and I’m deciding to say ‘fuck u’ and ignore it. You based the ARCHITECTURE of Mandalore based on BOBA FUCKING FETT’s armor and u wanna tell me he’s not a “””real”””” Mando??? Nah.

Also in line with that (and I’ve heard some ppl say it’s bc ‘well he was in prison and didn’t see the sun for a while!’ Which ok but ??? it still rubs me the wrong way): whitewashing Boba (and the clones to an extent. Let them be TAN like their DAD whose actor is very NOT WHITE)

Still sad that the “hey lets try talking to the Separatists and see why they hate us” arc was abt. Like. Petty shit and vague “corruption” instead of like. Y’know. The whole slave army and not tackling slavery in the outer rim and using excessive force that results in civilian casualties.

In the same vein BARRIS OFFEE DESERVED BETTER. Like. First of all having a hijab-equivalent wearing girl bomb the Jedi Temple is fucked up (who the hell okayed that in writing???). Second of all if you were GONNA do that (bc I get it u need Ahsoka to leave Anakin and getting her framed for a heinous crime by her best friend is a fucked up but effective method) you could’ve. Idk given us hints that Barris was being manipulated by Sidious and lured to the dark side? I get that you wanted ur “oooo big betrayal surprise” but I prefer good story telling as opposed to “character who has been shown to be nothing but selfless and caring is bad bc ??? Plot reasons!”

There’s a lot more probably but these are the worst just off the top of my head. I think Filoni’s been pretty much essential to keeping Star Wars alive after Disney and yeah there’s some really bad characterization some episodes but overall the show is awesome at expanding the universe and making you fall in love with the characters but Dave what the ever loving fuck were you/your team thinking with these ideas?
