We started the #MMMay for dear Sal but he got knocked out round two.

I'm curious to know how many of u know this cutie🧐☺️! I think I have a really bad case of side character simping🥴🫣! He plays such a minor role but, I still love this Zhentarim😍! Any other Salazon lovers around😏💖?

Who in the Zhentarim would have their license (and who definitely SHOULDN'T have one?)

Rugan HAS to have one. that's like half of his usefulness at this point. That man has NO stress, while Olly would probably be SWEATING trying to drive safely. But if Bellar or Garias takes the wheel Rugan's suddenly white knuckling it.

Sal definitely does and is probably a very nervous driver too, hates driving, his whole body aches once he's off the car. He would drive one of those smaller cars, I just don't see him in a big car…

Garias should not have one.

Karad and Jarg definitely have them.

Bellar probably got one the instant he was eligible but he's an absolutely shit driver and no one wants to ride with him, a menace on the road, gets terrible road rage.

Brem is a disturbingly safe driver to protect the merch.

Olly is probably training for his license right now and Rugan is basically backseat driving the whole time. Rugan tbh feels like he'd be very chill teaching someone how to drive. Almost got in a crash? "Oh lad nothing even happened" or "I've done worse" or "So long as Zarys doesn't catch you is the important bit.".

Zarys can drive but she'd rather die before she's made to teach anyone.

Twoot Twoot - A fic to toot your own horn!

Well, I've got 2 chapters of How To Keep a Man and Lose a Devil up and I'm hoping to get chapter 3 up today if not tomorrow, so let's say that one.

I think the reason I recommend this one is firstly because I have a good deal of it outlined and partially written, and secondly because I'm trying to really lean into both banter and hopefully a plot that's intriguing with a few twists on the way and is the most upbeat thing I'm working on.

I had to pick my jaw up off the floor upon reading Moving On by @benicemurphy, which is a short imagining of a continuation of Part 10 of the Northern Bastards series. Never mind how amazing that someone was moved to write this, the prose and emotions in this one-shot fic are so moving and heart-wrenching. Perfection.

I don't have any gifted fics, but! A shout-out to Owleeve on Twitter/X, who gifted me the images used for my profile picture and banner here as part of a Secret Santa exchange in 2023, a whole year ago!

As far as fics go, let's pair it with an older gift too, A Pound of Discretion by @milkymosaic, who incidentally was the recipient of the AradinxZevlor one-shot that now serves as the prologue of the Northern Bastards series. This sweet fic is a lovely interaction between Gale and Rolan complete with confessions of feelings, absolutely adorable and you'll finish that final sentence with a grin.

Let's go with both Where Our Demons Hide and Heat of The Night by @vera-king-hrfl and a collaboration of a 1980s AU with @crowwolf respectively.

These fics feature the best boy in all the realms, Cal, and, as we all know... Cal is love, Cal is life, along with the OC Ryldinn, and so their ongoing nature means we continue to be blessed with the sweetest of our favourite trio, but also much drama, tenderness, and a hefty amount of spiciness too!

The set ups and pay off of the jokes are hilarious, featuring the Zhents so well written and hilariously characterized, and a great scoop of smut from a master. What more could you want?
