Dad Kakashi x daughter trope (
Kakashi x oc (not romantic)
Trope: found family
Word count: 1.5k
Warning: Oc character, Tragic backstory, mention of characters deaths, selective mutism disorder, Angst (if you squint?), hurt/comfort?, trauma, previous relationship, childhood love.
Kakashi ex girlfriend and comrade was someone he never could keep his mind off. Once he started to feel normal a little girl with white hair shows up, being called the daughter of his ex girlfriend. He was left with a note to raise her.
Kakashi didn’t know what to expect when he was called to the Hokage office. He assumed it was just another mission, so he put his uniform on, concealing his face underneath his mask, and made his way undetected.
He hadnt expected to be greeted by the Hokage alongside one of the legendary Sannin. The other white-haired man had been out of the village for a while, claiming to have research to do. Kakashi was a bit surprised to see him there.
He was even more surprised when they settled down and Jiraiya brought out a small blue-haired girl. She looked around seven… almost the same number of year Jiraiya had been gone for. Kakashi assumed it was the older man’s daughter and he would be assigned to guard her.
But what he was told was much worse.
Kakashi had never sought out love. He had actively avoided it, his childhood traumas leaving him to scarred to get close to anyone. He had seen others find love during times of war only to be left with hurt and alone. Kakashi tried to stay away from it as long as possible.
Yet he couldn’t help it when a beautiful girl with the kindest soul make her way into his heart, making him year for something he have vowed to never have, never want. Every time she stepped into the room, he couldn’t help but let his mind wonder to the terrifying place of his imagination, the future. Imagining their future together.
Kiyomi Tatsuyama. That was her name. The girl with all the time in the word, who used it all to pester him. She would always bother him during his morning walks, beg to spar with him only to go home with bruises, make him lunches when she assumed he was to busy to make his own, and bring him extra scarves during winter.
It annoyed him. She always asked what he was doing, the thing he liked, his favorite foods, his hobbies, and what kind of Shinobi he was.
He tried hard to put a distance between them, but mo matter what he did, she found a way to get to him. He hate it.
He hated how he would walk by her house slower when he noticed her rushing to do her hair before joining him. He hated how he would fall into an easy cycle of teasing and playful banter during their spars.
He hated how he would purposely complain to his comrades about how hungry he was when she was around so he could try the new food she made, despite it being overcooked. He hated how he’d leave his coat and scarf at home so she would nag and feel bad for him.
He hated the way her finger tips left a warm trail against his neck when she wrapped her scarf around him, the small scowl on her when she scolded him, the small dimple that appeared when she caught him staring blissfully, asking if he was listening, and how she would blush when she tried to scold him.
He hated the fact that he fell in love with her. And he hated it when she left. Leaving him behind with just a bite, telling him he would be in her heart forever before disappearing from his life forever.
His comrades would ask about her once they noticed the “fly” was no longer hanging around him, wondering if she had finally gotten the clue and stopped bothering him. He hated how heart broke he felt.
He hated how he could still hear the small cracks in his heart grow even after all these years as he read a note she had left him again. Hearing her soft voice saying he words he read:
“I always liked the cold. I liked the cute outfits I got to wear. The excuses it gave me to get close to you. I liked how warm I felt without feeling sweaty. I always felt that way around you. I felt nice and warm. Sorry if I bothered you, Kakashi. I couldn’t help who I fell in love with and how I handled it. I’m also sorry for what I’m about to do you. I don’t trust anyone the way I trust you. I know you’ll take care of her. People aren’t so kind to those who are different, of the unknown. She’s a good kid. She won’t bother you much. She likes to speak a lot but if you ask her to be quiet she won’t talk. She loves winters as much as I do and she likes to watch the stars shine. She doesn’t know how to make friends and she likes to eat a bunch of Dorayaki. Please take care of Kasumi for me…
I want you to know….I do remember that night.. Thank you.”
Kakashi couldn’t help the ache in his chest when he finished reading the letter. The way he crumpled the paper. The way he stared at the girl who stood behind Jiraiya, looking around curiously. The way the older men looked at him with hidden pitty behind their eyes.
He felt another stab at the heart.
“Kakashi, you understand you must take care of this girl? This child has been entrusted to your care. If you refuse her, she will be handed off to her grandfather. Although the isn’t reckless, he is in no condition to take care of a child. He can barely walk himself.” Hiruzen explained, his voice steady but his eyes filled with unspoken concern. Kakashi could feel the weight of his options being laid in front of him.
Jiraiya glance at him. His usual carefree deamnored replaced with a rare seriousness.
“She posses a Sharigan. It was placed in her. She can’t control it, and the longer it remains unstable, the more dangerous it becomes: not only that but…” Jiraiya paused, his face softening as he looked at the small girl who clung to his sleeve, her eyes landing on his, her big innocent eyes looking at him.
“Kasumi is daughter or Kenshiro Kaguyuki. Which means her anatomy is different than ours. Where we are warm blooded, Kasumi is not. She was born in the cold…. Kasumi is also mute.” Jiraya continued, his voice betraying a hint of sorrow. Kakashi’s eyes widened as he looked at the girl who tilted her head at him before hiding her small body behind the larger man.
“She wasn’t born with it. She developed it after going through a traumatic experience. It’s called Selective Mutism. Since she was three, she hasn’t spoke to anyone aside from her mother siblings,” Jiraya explained, his tone somber.
Kakashi felt his blood run cold. Hearing Kiyomi had moved on after all those years while he was stuck yearning for her, made him feel glad she found someone else but he couldn’t help the jealously that ran through his veins. Hearing she had children with another man made him feel sick.
“How many?” Kakashi asked, his voice barely above a whisper. Hiruzen stared at him, wondering if that had mattered in this moment.
“Three. This is her only daughter. The man she was married to had threatened to hurt her father if she didn’t come with him. He had four wives with the purpose of breeding strong children from different clans,” Jiraya explained, glancing down at the small girl who plugged her ears to not hear.
“… He committed suicide taking his three other kids with him… we’re still looking for his wives.”
Kakashi felt his jaw clench at the thought. His Kiyomi had spent years with a man who used her for her clan jutsu’s. She had left, and he hadn’t even thought about trying to find her. He had left her to be use by an evil man. Who knows what kind of horrors she and her daughter had to endure.
Kakashi zoned out for the rest of the conversation, hearing Jiraiya talk but unable to make out the words. He couldn’t help but feel like he had failed again, like it was his fault. He should’ve fought for her, he should have chased her. He should have asked her father. He should’ve went after her. Regret filled his body.
He finally tuned back in when he saw Jiraya turn to look down at Kasumi. His brows furrowed as he saw the Sannin make a series of hand signals.
It a took a moment for Kakashi to recognize it. It wasn’t a jutsu he had seen or copied. It was sign language. The girl— Kasumi— was muted she wouldn’t speak to anyone, which meant Jiraiya must’ve learned the easiest way to communicate with her.
Kakashi watched his eye locked with Kasumi. He assumed he was the topic of their conversation. He tried to give her a warm smile, but ended up looking awkward and forced under his mask.
She removed her fingers from her ears, frowning as she looked back up at Jiraiya and signed, ‘Why can’t you take care of me? I don’t want to stay here.’
Jiraiya smiled at the girl, reaching down to pat her head. She blinked at every sudden movement, her eyes wide and wary.
“Donr worry! You’ll be in good hands! Besides, Susu, I was meant to deliver you to who your mother asked. We just got side tracked by— my research,” he said, not signing this time, glancing over at Kakashi. Kasumi nodded sadly.
Kakshi watched as Hiruzen and Jiraiya spoke in a hushed tones, the two of them exchanging glances filled with concern. Meanwhile, Kasumi tugged on Jiraiya’s seeking his attention. Kakashi’s eyes were drawn to her.
Her hair was short, barely longer than her jaw, with uneven lengths and layered pieces sticking out, even her bangs where cut oddly, with chuckle pieces in between her brows, showing off her deep blue eyes. The same blue eyes he once knew, once woke up to, the some ones he had complimented, the ones he saw filled with love. Her hair seemed poorly dyed, large chunks of the bald showing white patches, and strands underneath the blue revealing a mixture of white and blue.
Kakashi watched as Kasumi reached up, offering Jiraiya a coin. The man grinned, giving her a small frog toy before making his leave.
Hiruzen looked at the girl, his eyes softening as she reminded him of the young girl. “This is Kakashi Hatake. You’ll be staying with him from now on,” he told her gently.
Kasumi stared at Kakashi with a blank expression.
Idk if I should make part two… please help me before I end up deleting this 😭😭

A New Tide / Sakura Haruno x Hoshigaki! Female Reader
(Y/N) Hoshigaki, the daughter of Kisame, arrives in Konoha as part of an exchange program during the time skip. She’s assigned to Sakura’s team, but the partnership starts on rocky ground. Sakura resents (Y/N) at first, seeing her as an unwelcome replacement for the missing Sasuke, and tensions run high between them.
Word count: 5029
Warning: soft angst. Fluff.
A/n: This was requested by an anon. Enjoy it!
The breeze through Konoha was crisp, the scent of autumn leaves mixing with distant wood smoke. Sakura Haruno stood with her arms crossed, emerald eyes narrowed as she sized up the new addition to her team—a shark-like grin plastered on the face of Hoshigaki (Y/N), Kisame’s daughter.
Sakura hated this.
Kakashi-sensei had framed it as an exchange program to foster peace between villages after the chaos of the Akatsuki, but all Sakura saw was a replacement—another teammate coming in to fill the void left by Naruto’s training trip with Jiraiya and Sasuke’s defection. And worse, it wasn’t just anyone—it was the daughter of that man, the one allied with Itachi, Sasuke’s captor.
Sakura tugged her gloves tighter over her hands. “Let’s get one thing straight,” she muttered, low enough for only (Y/N) to hear. “I don’t care what kind of arrangement Konoha made. I don’t trust you. So stay out of my way, and we won’t have a problem.”
(Y/N) blinked, unfazed, then shrugged with an easy, toothy grin. “Got it, princess.”
The nickname made Sakura’s eye twitch, but before she could respond, Kakashi waved them over.
Their first few missions together were… rocky, to say the least.
(Y/N) was everything Sakura wasn’t used to—playful, unpredictable, and reckless. Where Sakura preferred precision and structure, (Y/N) dove headfirst into danger with a grin, her chakra-heavy water attacks leaving destruction in their wake. She was strong, yes, but infuriatingly so, as if her entire life had been spent testing the limits of her strength just for fun.
“Could you not drench everything we’re trying to save?” Sakura snapped after one mission where (Y/N)’s water jutsu flooded an entire merchant cart they were supposed to protect.
(Y/N) gave a nonchalant shrug, slinging her massive sword—one that looked suspiciously like a smaller version of Samehada—over her shoulder. “No one got hurt, did they? I call that a win.”
Sakura groaned, pinching the bridge of her nose. “How can you be so careless?”
But beneath her annoyance, something else started to take root—a grudging respect. (Y/N) might have been wild, but she was dependable in her chaotic way. During a particularly nasty ambush, Sakura had been caught off guard, and cornered by two rogue shinobi. In an instant, (Y/N) was there, her movements fluid and efficient. A burst of water surged from her palms, sweeping the enemies away as if they were nothing more than leaves in a stream.
“See? Told you I had your back,” (Y/N) said with a wink, her sharp grin softening just a little.
And just like that, the walls Sakura had built began to crack.
Days turned to weeks, and soon Sakura found herself anticipating (Y/N)’s antics more than dreading them. There was a strange comfort in their arguments—a rhythm to the push and pull between them. (Y/N) teased constantly, but there was never any malice in her words, only a playful warmth that made Sakura’s heart feel lighter.
The real change came one quiet evening after training. The sky was painted in deep purples and gold as they sat side by side under a tree, the cool breeze brushing through their hair. (Y/N) leaned back, hands resting behind her head as she looked up at the darkening sky.
“Do you ever wonder what it would be like to live somewhere else?” she asked softly.
Sakura tilted her head, surprised by the question. “What do you mean?”
(Y/N) gave a half-smile, a rare flicker of vulnerability flashing across her face. “I mean… to belong somewhere. My whole life, it’s just been about following orders—doing what’s expected of me. I don’t know what it’s like to stay somewhere because I want to.”
Sakura felt a strange ache in her chest at those words. She understood that longing more than she cared to admit—the feeling of being adrift, trying to find meaning in a world that kept shifting beneath her feet.
“You belong here,” Sakura said before she could stop herself.
(Y/N) turned to look at her, her silver-blue eyes catching the fading light. “Do I?”
Sakura’s breath caught the words tangling in her throat. There was something in (Y/N)’s gaze—something tender and unsure as if she was searching for permission to hope.
Without thinking, Sakura reached out, her hand brushing against (Y/N)’s. The contact was brief, but it sent a spark through both of them, a silent promise that neither of them fully understood yet.
“Yes,” Sakura whispered. “You do.”
———————
After that night, everything between them shifted.
Their banter became less sharp, their glances lingering just a little longer. In the quiet moments between missions, Sakura found herself drawn closer to (Y/N), her heart aching in ways she hadn’t expected. It wasn’t just admiration or companionship—it was something deeper, something that made her feel breathless and alive all at once.
(Y/N) seemed to feel it too. Her teasing softened, and when they were alone, the mask of bravado she wore slipped away, revealing a gentleness that Sakura hadn’t seen before.
One rainy afternoon, as they sat huddled beneath the awning of a tea shop, (Y/N) leaned in closer, her voice low and intimate. “You know… if you asked me to stay, I would.”
Sakura’s heart stuttered in her chest. “What?”
(Y/N) gave her a small, almost shy smile. “I think… I finally found a reason to stop running.”
For a moment, Sakura couldn’t breathe. The world around them faded, leaving only the sound of the rain and the steady beat of her heart.
Then, with a surge of courage she didn’t know she had, Sakura closed the distance between them, pressing her lips to (Y/N)’s in a kiss that tasted like rain and promises.
When they finally pulled away, (Y/N) rested her forehead against Sakura’s, her breath warm against her skin.
“So, is that a yes?” she whispered.
Sakura smiled, her heart full for the first time in a long time. “Yes,” she whispered back. “Stay with me.”
And for the first time in her life, (Y/N) felt like she had finally come home.
After that kiss, everything between Sakura and (Y/N) seemed to shift effortlessly, as if a knot had finally come undone. The awkwardness Sakura feared never appeared; instead, their connection grew deeper, an unspoken understanding flowing between them like a river finding its course.
But, of course, the world around them didn’t stop. Missions continued, routines remained, and the shinobi life offered little space for romance. Yet, even in stolen moments—whether it was brushing hands during training or a quiet night walk along the village walls—Sakura found solace in (Y/N)’s presence. It was a strange, unexpected comfort that made her world feel more bearable.
And it made her realize just how terrified she was of losing it.
——————-
One morning, the sky above Konoha was overcast, with thick clouds promising rain. Team Kakashi had just completed a simple patrol mission, and as they regrouped at the gate, Kakashi lingered back, flipping through one of his infamous books.
“Good work today,” Kakashi said lazily, his eye crinkling in a way that hinted he knew more than he let on. “(Y/N), I’ll need to see you later at the Hokage’s office for a report.”
(Y/N)’s casual smirk faltered ever so slightly, but she gave a mock salute. “Got it, Sensei.”
Sakura watched the exchange with a growing knot in her stomach. It was rare for Tsunade to request personal reports unless there was something specific going on—something official.
“What’s that about?” Sakura asked the moment Kakashi was out of earshot.
(Y/N) scratched the back of her neck, looking uncharacteristically serious. “Probably nothing. Might just be a check-in with my village.”
Sakura’s stomach churned. “So… they’re calling you back?”
(Y/N) shrugged, trying to play it off, but Sakura could see the uncertainty in her eyes. “Could be. It was part of the deal, right? Temporary exchange and all that.”
Sakura’s heart dropped. She knew this moment might come—the agreement between their villages had always been temporary. But now that it was looming over them, the thought of (Y/N) leaving felt like a weight pressing against her chest.
“What if they don’t give you a choice?” Sakura asked, her voice quieter than she intended.
For the first time, (Y/N) didn’t have an easy answer. She hesitated, her silver-blue eyes clouded with something unreadable. “Then… I guess I’ll have to decide what matters most.”
Later that evening, Sakura found herself standing in front of the Hokage’s Tower, nerves twisting in her gut. She knew it wasn’t her place to interfere, but the thought of (Y/N) leaving gnawed at her. She couldn’t just sit back and let it happen—not without a fight.
Before she could talk herself out of it, Sakura marched up the steps and into Tsunade’s office.
Inside, (Y/N) was already there, standing stiffly in front of Tsunade’s desk, her usual grin nowhere to be found. The tension in the room was palpable, and when both Tsunade and (Y/N) turned to look at her, Sakura swallowed hard.
“Sakura?” Tsunade raised an eyebrow, looking mildly annoyed. “Is there a reason you’re barging in on a private meeting?”
Sakura clenched her fists at her sides. “I need to say something. Please.”
Tsunade sighed but gestured for her to speak.
Sakura turned to (Y/N), her heart pounding in her chest. “I know this wasn’t supposed to be permanent. I know you were only sent here for a mission. But… I can’t let you leave without telling you how much you mean to me.”
(Y/N)’s eyes widened slightly, and for once, the usually cocky kunoichi was rendered speechless.
“I’ve spent my whole life feeling like I wasn’t enough,” Sakura continued, her voice cracking slightly. “I lost Sasuke, and for so long, I thought that was the only thing that mattered. But then you came into my life, and everything changed. You made me see that there’s more to life than chasing ghosts. You made me feel… whole.”
Tsunade’s expression softened ever so slightly, but Sakura barely noticed—her entire world had narrowed down to (Y/N), standing just a few feet away with an unreadable look on her face.
“Stay,” Sakura whispered. “Please.”
For a moment, everything was silent. Then, slowly, (Y/N) stepped forward, closing the distance between them. She reached out and gently cupped Sakura’s face, her thumb brushing away a tear Sakura hadn’t realized she’d shed.
“Hey,” (Y/N) murmured, her voice low and tender. “You don’t have to convince me. I already made my choice.”
Sakura blinked, breath hitching as (Y/N) leaned in, pressing a soft, lingering kiss to her forehead.
“I’m staying,” (Y/N) whispered against her skin. “No matter what.”
By the time they left the Hokage’s office, the rain had started, a gentle drizzle that painted the streets in a soft shimmer.
They walked together in comfortable silence, the weight of the earlier conversation lifted, leaving only a quiet contentment between them. Sakura’s heart felt lighter than it had in years, and for the first time in a long time, the future didn’t seem so daunting.
As they reached the edge of the training grounds, (Y/N) suddenly grabbed Sakura’s hand, lacing their fingers together.
“You know,” (Y/N) said with a grin, “if I’m going to be stuck here, you’re going to have to keep up with me, princess.”
Sakura rolled her eyes, but there was no heat behind it—only warmth. “You’re impossible.”
“And you love it.”
Sakura smiled, squeezing (Y/N)’s hand as they continued walking through the rain.
“Yeah,” she said softly. “I really do.”
And for once, everything felt exactly as it should be.
———————-
The days following (Y/N)’s decision to stay in Konoha felt surreal—like a dream Sakura didn’t want to wake from. The two of them slipped into a rhythm, a delicate balance between their duties as shinobi and the quiet moments they shared when no one was watching. But beneath the surface of their growing relationship, Sakura couldn’t shake the nagging worry that things couldn’t stay this perfect forever.
After all, shinobi weren’t meant to have peaceful lives.
One evening, the two of them sat on a grassy hill overlooking Konoha, the village lights flickering like stars below. Sakura rested her head against (Y/N)’s shoulder, the warmth of her body keeping the chill of the autumn night at bay. They hadn’t spoken for a while—no words were needed—but Sakura knew (Y/N) was lost in thought. She could feel it in the way her fingers drummed rhythmically against the hilt of her sword, like she was working through something in her mind.
“Penny for your thoughts?” Sakura asked, her voice soft.
(Y/N) huffed a quiet laugh. “I was just thinking… about my father.”
Sakura stiffened slightly, but she didn’t pull away. She knew this was a subject (Y/N) rarely touched—Kisame Hoshigaki, the infamous Monster of the Hidden Mist, wasn’t exactly an easy topic.
“I’ve spent my whole life being told who I’m supposed to be because of him,” (Y/N) continued, her voice quiet but steady. “It’s like… no one ever thought to ask me what I wanted. I think… that’s why I always kept moving. So no one could pin me down. So I wouldn’t have to face the question.”
Sakura lifted her head, her hand slipping into (Y/N)’s. “And what do you want now?”
(Y/N) looked down at their joined hands, a small smile tugging at the corners of her lips. “I want this,” she whispered. “You. Here. Us.”
Sakura’s heart ached in the best way possible. She knew that for someone like (Y/N), admitting that she wanted to stay—choosing to stay—was no small thing. It was a leap of faith, just like their relationship.
“And what if someone from your past comes looking for you?” Sakura asked quietly, voicing the fear that had been gnawing at her since (Y/N) decided to stay.
(Y/N) gave her a lopsided grin, her shark-like teeth glinting in the moonlight. “Then they’ll have to go through you first, right?”
Sakura snorted, but the warmth in her chest didn’t fade. “Damn right.”
The next morning, Sakura found herself at the training grounds, stretching beneath the rising sun. She knew (Y/N) would meet her soon, but for now, she enjoyed the quiet moments alone.
Just as she finished tying her gloves, she felt a familiar presence approaching—a rush of cool air and the distinct scent of saltwater.
“You’re late,” Sakura called without turning around.
(Y/N) laughed as she stepped into view, her silver-blue eyes gleaming with mischief. “You’re just early, princess.”
Sakura rolled her eyes, but a smile tugged at her lips. She had gotten used to the teasing, even found it endearing in a way she never thought possible.
They spent the morning sparring, chakra flowing through their fists and water, each movement sharp and deliberate. They danced around each other like they had done this a thousand times—dodging, blocking, countering. But this time, it was different. It wasn’t just a fight—it was a conversation without words, a way to connect.
“Getting slow, Sakura!” (Y/N) taunted, narrowly dodging a powerful punch.
Sakura smirked. “Just waiting for you to slip up.”
And when (Y/N) did—just a brief misstep—Sakura surged forward, catching her off-guard. She tackled (Y/N) to the ground, pinning her beneath her with a grin.
“Gotcha,” Sakura whispered, her breath coming in short bursts.
(Y/N) stared up at her, wide-eyed and stunned for only a moment—before her grin returned, softer this time. “If this is how you’re gonna fight, I think I’ll start losing more often.”
Sakura rolled her eyes, but she didn’t move. There was something about this moment—the closeness of their bodies, the way (Y/N) looked at her with such openness—that made her heart skip a beat.
(Y/N) lifted her hand and tucked a stray strand of Sakura’s hair behind her ear, her fingers lingering just a moment longer than necessary. “You’re beautiful, you know that?”
Sakura felt her cheeks flush, but she didn’t pull away. “You’re such an idiot,” she murmured, but there was no heat in her words—only affection.
(Y/N) leaned up slightly, her gaze flickering to Sakura’s lips. “Yeah, but I’m your idiot.”
And before Sakura could respond, (Y/N) closed the distance between them, capturing her lips in a kiss that was slow and deliberate—like she was savoring every second of it.
Sakura melted into the kiss, her hands gripping the front of (Y/N)’s shirt to keep herself grounded. It was everything she hadn’t realized she needed—gentle but intense, playful but sincere.
When they finally pulled away, Sakura rested her forehead against (Y/N)’s, both of them catching their breath.
“You’re staying with me forever, right?” Sakura whispered, her voice barely audible.
(Y/N) smiled, pressing a soft kiss to her temple. “Forever, princess. No matter what.”
But forever wasn’t something the shinobi world promised easily.
———————
A few days later, while on a routine mission to escort a merchant caravan, (Y/N) and Sakura found themselves ambushed by rogue shinobi—remnants of old alliances that should’ve died with the Akatsuki.
The fight was brutal. (Y/N) moved like a force of nature, her water jutsu slicing through enemies with terrifying precision. But no matter how skilled they were, they were outnumbered.
Sakura fought by her side, her fists glowing with chakra, but a creeping fear lodged itself in her chest—a fear that they wouldn’t make it out of this one.
At one point, (Y/N) caught Sakura’s wrist, her silver-blue eyes serious. “If it comes down to it, you run. Got it?”
Sakura’s heart clenched. “I’m not leaving you.”
(Y/N) gave her a small, sad smile. “I know. But I need you to promise me anyway.”
Sakura shook her head. “We’re both getting out of this. Together.”
And with that, they charged back into the fray—side by side, as they always had been.
No matter what.
The rogue shinobi were relentless, their numbers seemingly endless. The forest echoed with the clash of steel, the rush of water jutsu, and the sharp crack of Sakura’s chakra-infused punches. (Y/N) fought like she belonged to the sea—fluid, unpredictable, and merciless. She carved through the enemy ranks with deadly precision, her water blades shimmering under the flickering light of fire jutsu and moonlight filtering through the treetops.
But even a storm can falter against overwhelming odds.
Sakura’s breath came in ragged gasps, and exhaustion began to creep into her limbs. She knew (Y/N) was feeling it too—their movements becoming just a fraction slower, their reactions dulled. It wasn’t enough to get them killed yet, but it was a dangerous edge to teeter on.
Sakura threw a chakra-enhanced punch into the earth, causing a shockwave that sent several shinobi flying. But just as she turned to warn (Y/N) of another ambush, she saw it—the subtle flick of a kunai coated in poison, sailing toward (Y/N)’s blind spot.
“(Y/N)!” Sakura screamed, pushing off the ground without thinking.
She threw herself into (Y/N), knocking her off balance and taking the blade to her shoulder. Pain exploded through her, but Sakura gritted her teeth and shoved (Y/N) behind cover.
“Damn it, Sakura!” (Y/N) shouted, catching her as they stumbled behind a fallen tree. “What the hell were you thinking?”
Sakura hissed through clenched teeth as the poison burned through her veins, black tendrils of chakra creeping outward from the wound. “I told you,” she whispered, gripping (Y/N)’s arm, “we leave together. No matter what.”
(Y/N) stared at her, emotions flickering across her face—panic, anger, fear, and something deeper. “Stupid… beautiful idiot,” (Y/N) muttered under her breath as she knelt beside Sakura, tearing the sleeve of her shirt to inspect the wound.
“I’ve got you,” (Y/N) whispered, her voice steady even as her hands trembled slightly. She formed a series of hand seals, summoning a surge of water that glowed faintly as it surrounded Sakura’s shoulder, cleansing the poison.
Sakura winced but managed a weak smile. “You’ve been practicing.”
(Y/N) huffed out a laugh, her expression softening despite the chaos around them. “Had to keep up with you, didn’t I?”
The rogue shinobi regrouped for another attack, and Sakura knew they wouldn’t last much longer—not without backup. She could feel her strength waning, the poison only partially neutralized. But as (Y/N) helped her to her feet, something shifted inside her.
This wasn’t how their story would end. Not here. Not like this.
“We’re making a run for it,” (Y/N) said firmly, tightening her grip on Sakura’s hand. “I don’t care what it takes—we’re getting out of this together.”
Sakura nodded, her heart pounding in her chest. “Together.”
With a shared glance, they launched into motion—dodging, weaving, and fighting their way through the remaining shinobi. (Y/N)’s water jutsu cut a path through the enemy lines, and Sakura followed close behind, her fists a blur of chakra-powered strikes.
Just as they broke through the last line of attackers, a burst of chakra exploded behind them—a fire jutsu aimed directly at Sakura’s back.
(Y/N) reacted without thinking. She threw herself between Sakura and the flames, summoning a towering wall of water just in time to absorb the impact. But the force of the blast knocked them both to the ground, skidding across the forest floor.
When the dust settled, they were lying side by side, panting and bruised but alive. The rogue shinobi had fallen back, retreating into the shadows of the forest, leaving them in silence.
Sakura turned her head toward (Y/N), who lay sprawled beside her, her chest rising and falling with labored breaths. “We made it,” Sakura whispered, a disbelieving smile spreading across her face.
(Y/N) let out a weak laugh, her eyes gleaming with exhaustion and relief. “Told you, princess. No matter what.”
Sakura shifted closer, ignoring the ache in her body, and rested her head against (Y/N)’s shoulder. “You’re impossible,” she murmured, but there was no mistaking the affection in her voice.
(Y/N) wrapped an arm around her, pulling her closer. “And you love me for it.”
Sakura smiled against her shoulder, feeling safe for the first time in what felt like forever. “Yeah,” she whispered, “I do.”
By the time they limped back to Konoha, the sun was rising, casting a warm glow over the village gates. They were met by a team of medics, but Sakura waved them off—her only focus was on making sure (Y/N) got the help she needed.
As they sat in the hospital room, (Y/N) resting beside her with bandages wrapped around her ribs, Sakura reached for her hand. She held it tightly, her thumb brushing over (Y/N)’s scarred knuckles.
“I almost lost you out there,” Sakura said quietly, her voice thick with emotion.
(Y/N) gave her a lopsided grin, even as her eyes drooped with exhaustion. “But you didn’t.”
Sakura leaned in, pressing a soft kiss to (Y/N)’s forehead. “And I never will.”
(Y/N) smiled, her hand tightening around Sakura’s. “Forever, right?”
Sakura kissed her again, this time on the lips—slow and tender, a promise wrapped in warmth. “Forever.”
As they lay together, tangled in each other’s warmth and the soft glow of the morning light, Sakura knew that no matter what challenges lay ahead, they would face them side by side.
Because they were each other’s safe harbor.
Bonus Chapter:
Ino – “Wait, What?!” (Early Stage)
Ino leaned on the counter of the Yamanaka Flower Shop, idly picking petals from a chrysanthemum. The sun filtered through the windows, and she was just starting to get bored when the bell above the door jingled.
To her delight, Sakura strolled in, looking… different. It wasn’t her usual “I’m here to buy apology flowers for my team” look. Sakura’s eyes had a distinct softness, and her lips were curved in a way that made Ino narrow her eyes in suspicion.
“So,” Ino began slyly, setting the flowers aside, “who is it?”
Sakura froze in place, her face turning a suspicious shade of pink. “What are you talking about?” she muttered, grabbing a random bouquet from the shelf to avoid Ino’s knowing gaze.
“Oh, come on.” Ino leaned closer, her grin widening. “I know that look. You’ve got it bad for someone. Spill!”
Sakura hesitated for a moment, chewing on her bottom lip. “It’s… (Y/N).”
Ino blinked, tilting her head. “Wait. (Y/N) Hoshigaki?” she asked, as if the name hadn’t fully registered.
Sakura gave a small, nervous nod.
It took a second for the pieces to click, but when they did, Ino practically gasped. “Kisame’s daughter?! Shark Girl?!” She grabbed Sakura’s shoulders, shaking her lightly. “You’re dating her?”
Sakura swatted Ino’s hands away, her blush deepening. “Keep your voice down, will you?”
Ino couldn’t help herself—she burst into laughter. “Sakura, I swear you have the weirdest taste in people. First Sasuke, now a rogue shinobi’s kid? But—” she grinned, nudging Sakura with her elbow, “—I gotta admit, she is kinda cool.”
Sakura rolled her eyes, but the smile tugging at her lips betrayed her annoyance.
Kakashi – “I Didn’t See This Coming” (Mid-Stage)
Kakashi stood on the bridge, watching as Sakura and (Y/N) walked toward him, side by side. They weren’t holding hands, but there was an ease between them—a quiet kind of closeness Kakashi had come to recognize in couples.
He knew something was different the moment (Y/N) had joined their team through the exchange program. At first, Sakura had been stiff and resentful, but now… there was an unmistakable shift in their dynamic.
“You’re late,” Kakashi called lazily as they approached.
“Blame her,” (Y/N) said with a smirk, jerking her thumb toward Sakura. “She insisted on stopping for dango.”
Sakura glared at her, but there was no real heat in it. “You wanted the dango too!”
Kakashi’s visible eye crinkled with amusement. “I’m just surprised. It’s rare to see you two not at each other’s throats.”
(Y/N) grinned, baring her shark-like teeth. “What can I say? She’s grown on me.”
Sakura shot her a look, her cheeks pink, but (Y/N) just chuckled. Kakashi noted the way Sakura’s expression softened when she looked at (Y/N)—a softness Kakashi hadn’t seen since she was a child.
He tucked his hands into his pockets, feeling a rare sense of contentment. “Well, this is new,” he thought. But he didn’t say it aloud. He’d seen enough of life to know that relationships were complicated—and that sometimes, the unexpected ones were the most meaningful.
Naruto – “You’re WHAT?!” (Late Stage)
Naruto almost choked on his ramen. “You’re moving in together?!”
Sakura glared at him from across the table, her arms crossed. “Do you have to be so loud about it?”
Naruto wiped his mouth with his sleeve, still looking as if she’d just told him she was moving to another dimension. “But—But Sakura-chan!” he sputtered. “Are you really sure about this? I mean, she’s—she’s a Hoshigaki! And she has shark teeth!”
“Thanks for noticing, Naruto,” (Y/N) said dryly, appearing beside Sakura with two bottles of soda in hand. She plopped down next to her, draping an arm lazily over the back of Sakura’s chair. “They’re my best feature.”
Naruto blinked between them, his mouth opening and closing like a fish out of water. “I just… I mean… when did this even happen?!”
Sakura sighed, pinching the bridge of her nose. “Naruto, it’s been months.”
Naruto still looked dumbfounded, but there was no mistaking the hint of protectiveness in his voice. “You better not hurt her, Hoshigaki. I mean it.”
(Y/N) raised a brow, then gave Naruto a slow, playful grin. “Relax, Uzumaki. I’m not going anywhere. She’s stuck with me.”
Sakura smirked, nudging (Y/N) lightly. “Who says I’m stuck with you?”
Naruto groaned, slumping forward over his bowl. “Great. Now you’re both ganging up on me.”
Tsunade – “So You’re Staying, Huh?” (Final Stage)
Tsunade sat behind her desk, arms folded, as she eyed (Y/N) from across the room. Sakura stood beside her, looking more composed than usual—as she had already made peace with whatever decision (Y/N) had come to.
“So,” Tsunade said slowly, “you’ve decided to stay in Konoha permanently?”
(Y/N) met the Hokage’s gaze without flinching. “Yeah. I have.”
Tsunade leaned back in her chair, her sharp eyes narrowing slightly. “And you’re sure you won’t regret leaving everything behind? Your old life?”
(Y/N) gave a small, almost imperceptible shrug. “I wasn’t really living before, just… existing.” She glanced at Sakura, her expression softening. “I found something here worth staying for.”
Sakura smiled quietly, a rare, genuine smile that Tsunade didn’t often see.
Tsunade sighed, rubbing her temples. “I guess I should’ve seen this coming.”
(Y/N) grinned, her shark teeth flashing. “I tend to surprise people.”
Tsunade huffed a laugh, though it was mostly exasperation. “Well, just don’t cause me any trouble, got it? The last thing I need is another Hoshigaki making my life harder.”
“No promises,” (Y/N) said with a wink.
Sakura groaned. “Why did I fall for such a pain?”
“Because you like challenges,” (Y/N) shot back smoothly, bumping Sakura’s shoulder.
Tsunade rolled her eyes but couldn’t hide the hint of a smile tugging at her lips. “Get out of my office, both of you, before I change my mind about all this.”
Sakura and (Y/N) exchanged a glance, then laughed as they left the room hand in hand, their footsteps echoing down the hall.
Tsunade shook her head, a wry smile on her face. “Well, I’ll be damned,” she muttered. “Didn’t think I’d see the day.”
And somehow, she felt that maybe—just maybe—Konoha was better off with the two of them in it.

Do y'all think about Sakura, the freshly made genin little girl who had only few months ago realized she needed to be so much more than what she could be at the moment in front of the chance to not only die but half of her team die in front of her too, alone? Alone in a village full of disdain for her teammates, one that she watched get away from the barrier of said village in a night she would remember everyday untill she saw him again? Alone without the blonde kid she only recently learn to understand and to care for, who left with a promisse that she would discover to be one more reason for sadness in his heart? Alone without her teacher to guide her through the feeling of grief...while she was having her body changed by a new routine to become useful and, in some way, to not be left behind again? Cause I do. I think a lot about her.

Sakura wasn't noisy, at least not when she was trying to sneak out as she was currently trying to do. She'd woken up with a rush of panic when she'd realized what time it was and that she wasn't supposed to be here. Sakura would have liked to say that she was agile and could get out of any tight spot, but that wasn't quite true. The young woman could be cruelly clumsy. In fact, it was this clumsiness that had caused her to stub her big toe on the bedside table.
“Ouch.” she grumbled under her breath.
“Sakura?” called a voice. It sounded sleepy and husky. She heard him more than she saw him move in the bed, probably because of the rustle of the sheets. She risked a glance over her shoulder and her heart skipped a beat. ”Where are you going?”
She shouldn't have looked. He was terribly attractive in the morning light. His raven locks fell before his eyes, slightly disheveled after their night together, and the sheet hid only his modesty, so she was free to admire his bare torso and the little hickey just above his collarbone. If her eyes went any lower.... ahem. She'd better not. She'd been completely distracted from her original plan.
“Huh... Home?”
“Won't you stay for breakfast?”
“I'm sorry, I can't. I won't have time. I have to go home, shower and change, I have an appointment this morning.”
“ I can drive you home, if you like? Wait, just let me...” He made a move to get up, but Sakura stopped him short.
“NO!” he seemed surprised by her outburst, she flushed, correcting herself: “Sorry. I mean, no, thank you. I don't want to bother you.”
“I don't mind, angel. I wouldn't have offered otherwise.”
“That's sweet, really, but don't worry,” she replied, flustered by the pet name. It wasn't the first time she'd heard it, but it always gave her butterflies in her stomach.
He frowned. She was weird this morning, in fact, now that he thought about it, she was often weird once morning came. He sat on the edge of the bed and reached out to grab her hand and draw her between his legs. He placed a kiss on her belly and felt her shiver in response. He smiled. So responsive. Sakura's hands reflexively clung to his shoulders.
“Are you sure you're okay? You know you can talk to me if you have a problem.”
She nodded and he felt her fingers brush against the nape of his neck, then she slid them into his hair. Her touch light and gentle. He closed his eyes, savoring the sensation, “I know, but I'm fine, love, I promise. I just don't like being late.”
“Hm. What kind of appointment is it anyway?”
“Oh. It's…” she seemed to think for a moment, which was odd too. Why would she forget an appointment she seemed so eager to go to? “The gynecologist.”
He arched an eyebrow at that. “Ah. So you're going to show my pussy to someone else?” he teased. It didn't fail. Sakura slapped him on the shoulder in retaliation, but couldn't hide her blush.
“Itachi!” she scolded him, mortified and scandalized.
He chuckled. “Just kidding.” well, half-joking... Her pussy really was his after all. He'd proved that fact last night. And at other times, in other sometimes incongruous places, but that's another story...
“You're crazy.” she pouted.
“Aa. Crazy in love.” he nestled his nose against her body, loving the smell of her and the feel of her fingers in his hair.
And there it is again; that feeling. The one that makes her heart beat a little faster, but also fills her with a dreadful guilt.
“You have to tell him.”
“I can't.”
“He'll find out one day. It's better if he finds out from you.”
“Angel?”
“Sorry, what?” She blinked, returning to the present, but the guilt still weighed on her. Itachi watched her with concern. She hadn't even noticed that he'd stood up and that his hand was caressing her cheek.
“What's wrong, Sakura?”
“I—”

She looked down at her cell phone, whose sudden ringing caught her attention. She turned livid as she saw the name of the incoming call on the screen, which worried Itachi even more.
“I'm sorry. I have to take this call. It's important.”
“What? No, wait, we were talking.”
“it's really important!” she quickly pecked his lips in apology and left to lock herself in the adjoining bathroom.
She took a deep breath then pressed the "pick up" button.
“Fucking finally! What took you so long to pick up?”
She winced at the harsh tone. “Sorry. My phone was in my bag, I didn't hear it.” She lied.
“Where are you?”
“Huh... not home.”
He scoffed, “No shit? Why the fuck aren't you home?”
Sakura felt her heartbeat quicken and a knot form in her stomach. Her fingers tightened on her phone. "I'm on my way... I needed to run a quick errand.”
“At 8am?” snapped the voice. “You think I'm stupid? I bet last night you went out with that blonde bitch again.”
“Ino isn’t a bitch! Don't talk about her like that!”
He sneered, "That's funny. I didn't say her name and yet you know exactly who I'm talking about. You know I hate it when you hang out with that loser. She's a bad influence on you.”
It wasn't the first time Sakura had felt anger. She hated that he spoke so badly of her best friend. Ino was practically everything to her. He had no right!
“She's my best friend! And she's there for me when you...!” she paused suddenly, as if remembering where she was and who she was talking to,
“When I what? Go on, finish your sentence. I fucking dare you.”
She didn't reply. She didn't have time for this. Nor to deal with it. Least of all here. Especially not here. She was doing her best not to speak too loudly.
“Look, forget it. I'll be home soon.”
“Coward,” he spat. And as usual, he belittled her. She was so used to it by now.
“I don't want to argue, Hidan.”
“Then get your ass home.”
She ignored his vulgar words and said instead,
“I thought you weren't coming home until tonight.”
He snorted, “I finished earlier than expected. So imagine my fucking surprise when I came home only to find our bed empty and my girlfriend missing.”
She cast a quick, worried glance at the closed bathroom door. She had to leave. If Hidan found out where she was and with whom, he'd kill her for sure.
“I'm sorry…” She could only apologize, in fact, that was all she did, apologize. Even when it wasn't her fault. She preferred to avoid unnecessary conflict with Hidan. When he got angry, he could get violent, and she knew better than to provoke his anger.
“Are you now? And what are you going to do to make it up to me, eh?”
“Anything you want…” she replied in a small voice because she already knew what he would want. And the very idea repulsed her to the core.
And she was right, because she heard him laugh and she hated that laugh. It made her shiver and not in a good way. “Anything I want, hm?” He was probably running his tongue over his lips, already imagining the positions he'd take her in. Each more humiliating than the last.
“I think I want to fuck you and punish you, and not necessarily in that order, but mostly fuck you. So hurry back, you wouldn't want to upset me any more, do you, Dollface? Who knows, if you're a good girl, maybe you'll get a reward.”
“Hidan; I’m not…I haven't been feeling well lately, maybe we could postpone this for another time.” It was a poor excuse. But she had to try. She didn't want him to touch her. She'd managed so brilliantly to avoid intimacy with him so far.
“You're a selfish bitch, you know that!? Sometimes, I don't feel well either and yet I go to work to bring home money so you can buy your shit! Do you see me complaining? No! And what do I get in return? An ungrateful bitch who won't even blow me when I ask her to! Is this how you thank people who work their asses off for you, Sakura? Is my girlfriend going to be that ungrateful when her boyfriend is nothing but generous, hmm?”
He spat out the words "girlfriend" and "boyfriend" as if they were some vast parody. Each word was meaner than the last, and despite herself, she felt hurt. It wasn't long before tears blurred her vision. Her situation, this situation, was unbearable. He was mean, he abused her and insulted her incessantly whenever she had the misfortune to do one little thing wrong. Did he love her or was she just a trophy for him? Was she just a hole he could empty himself into whenever he felt like it, even when she didn't? He criticized her cooking, the way she cleaned the house, he even dared to criticize her studies and told her that if she'd failed her exam, it was because she wasn't smart and bright enough. And maybe it was true, part of her had come to believe it, but the other part was aware that it was because she was constantly under pressure. She lived in fear. Fear of saying the wrong thing and having her day ruined. By him. It was as if she were trapped in this relationship. She couldn't get out.
The first time she tried, he came back crying. He'd apologized profusely and said he had a problem but it wasn't his fault. That he was just like his asshole father and that he was sorry he'd hurt her. He'd even begged her, told her he loved her, that she was the woman of his life and that without her, he was nothing. That he would never lay a hand on her again.
He'd promised. He'd pursued her for weeks. Showering her with gifts and attention. And like a fool, she'd gone back to him. Forgave him. Because she loved him. When he wasn't being a monster, Hidan was the most loving man on the planet. At least, when she met him six years ago, that's how it was. Then, after a few years, everything turned upside down and her dream turned into a nightmare. Now, if she had the misfortune to be overzealous, as he called it, and if he was already angry because of his work or anything else to begin with, he could slap her and blame it on her. He'd say it was her fault because she'd pissed him off, that if she wasn't so annoying then he wouldn't have done anything. Once, he even accused her of not really loving him because she'd taken too long to forgive him for one of his countless screw-ups. That if she truly loved him the way he loved her, then she wouldn't be so "difficult". Perhaps the worst was when he called her crazy and told her she was overreacting. Yes, Hidan had become her living nightmare, but Itachi, oh, Itachi... he was her salvation.
Itachi.
Oh.
Oh.
She was in his house. In his bathroom. God. She had to get out of here!
“I... I have to go.”
“Oi you fucking cunt, don't you dare hang—!”
Too late. She'd hung up before she'd heard the end of his sentence. She'd pay for it later, she knew, but right now, she had to go. And quickly!
She wiped away her tears and unlocked the door, rushing outside but nearly stumbling as she collided with a muscular torso. Two arms steadied her on her feet. She raised her head slowly and her emerald eyes met his darker ones. She froze when she saw Itachi's cold, hard face. But there was something else too. Betrayal.
Her stomach dropped. He knows. Fuck, he knows. With a lump in her throat and tears in the corners of her eyes, she asked with a shaky voice:
“How much did you hear…?”
“How long have you been locked in the bathroom?” he replied, his tone sharp and to the point. She flinched.
“I... it's not…”
He laughed humorlessly, "What I think?”
“Please…”
He shook his head. “I'm only going to ask you this once, Sakura, and I hope you'll have the decency not to lie to my face.”
Her heart was about to explode. Fear gripped her. It was over. He was going to leave her. He was going to abandon her. He was going to…–
“Look at me.” She did. His voice was much softer than she'd expected, yet it remained firm. Emerald met onyx. She held his gaze as best she could, and it was the hardest thing in the world.
“Are you in a relationship? I'm the other guy, aren't I?” He seemed disgusted by the term itself. And how could he not be? She'd started an affair with him when she already had Hidan but it was so much more complicated than that.
And although she knew her world was about to crumble, she couldn't bring herself to lie to him. Not anymore. She didn't even notice that her tears had rolled down her cheeks as she nodded. “Yes…”
She was struck by the raw pain in Itachi's eyes. And that look. The disappointment in his eyes... the pain she was inflicting on him. It was killing her. He jerked away from her, but she clung to his shirt, surely he'd dressed at some point during her phone call. But who cared now? All she wanted to do was stop him from leaving.
“Please, hear me out! I... I can explain.”
“Sakura, let go.”
No! He refused to listen. He couldn't refuse to listen to her, he couldn't abandon her. He couldn't. Especially not him. She shook her head, gripped by a sudden panic, it was as if the air no longer reached her lungs. She couldn't breathe. Her vision was blurred by tears and all she knew was that she was clinging to Itachi as if her life depended on it.
His whole body tensed as she wrapped her arms around him. She disgusted him, didn't she? He couldn't stand her closeness anymore? She'd ruined everything. She was worthless. Hidan was right. She was pathetic and good for nothing. Her shoulders trembled, her body shaking with uncontrollable sobs.
“I love you. I l-love you. I love you s-so much. I c-can't imagine living in a w-world where you don't e-exist. I can't bear the thought of a l-life without your arms a-around m-me. I'm sorry, I'm so s-sorry. Please, Itachi. Please don't leave me. I can, I can explain e-everything to you, I know I don't deserve it, I know I don't deserve you. I know I'm n-nothing, but to me you're everything. I'll do anything for you. I'll do anything you want. So p-please let me, let me…” She could no longer speak or breathe. She was going to die, God, she was going to die. And why did she feel so numb? Why was she so hot all of a sudden?
“Ra... ! Sakura!” she felt someone shake her. She thought she heard Itachi's voice, but it seemed so far away. Why did he look so panicked and worried? He shouldn't be. He should hate her. He should let her die on the floor. That's all she deserved.
***
Itachi felt betrayed, his heart broken into so many pieces that he wasn't sure he'd ever be able to rebuild it. Sakura already had a man in her life. He was just her dirty little secret. Had she been lying all this time? What else had she lied about? Was that why she'd never introduced him to her friends? Or even her family? They hadn't been together for long; in fact they should have celebrated their one-year dating anniversary next month. And his world was suddenly turned upside down.
He'd always known there was something off with Sakura but he could never have imagined such a thing. He felt disappointed, but mostly hurt. Shit, he loved this woman. He was in love with her. He thought he was going to make a life with her. And now, all of a sudden, he finds out she's already with someone? He hadn't wanted to spy on her, he really hadn't but he'd been so worried about her and her behavior that he'd ended up eavesdropping.
It didn't take a genius to understand the context of this conversation. All he'd heard was Sakura's voice, but the sound must have been set pretty high, or her boyfriend – (his heart clenched painfully)– was shouting loud enough on the phone for him to catch a sentence or two.
She looked so small and fragile. He barely recognized her voice, it was familiar, but he thought he'd never felt her so... fearful. But of what? He'd always sensed this sensitivity in Sakura, but he'd never realized how much she could withdraw from the world when she seemed cornered.
And now, here they were. She was confessing to him that she was with another man. No, he was the "other man", he thought bitterly. It wasn't what he'd thought. Really? It was such a cliché.
“Sakura, let go.”
From that moment on, everything went to hell. He never thought he'd see so much panic in her eyes. Worse, she was scared. He'd even felt her flinch. Was she afraid... of him? The very idea twisted his guts. Yes, he was disappointed, he felt betrayed to the core and his heart bled so much it hurt, but never, NEVER would he hurt her. Even if he was in pain. He just wanted her to leave so he could calm down, think about the situation, maybe even cry, but that recoiling gesture she had, as if she'd feared he'd hit her.... It made him sick.
Every word was another blow to his heart. She looked so broken and desperate when she cried out her love to him. But something was wrong. She trembled and gasped for air. A feeling of panic rose in him. Shit! She was having a panic attack. A big one at that. He grabbed her by the shoulders, trying to pull her back to him, but to no avail. No matter how many times he called her name, she couldn't hear him. She sobbed loudly and clutched at her heart. His concern outweighed everything else.
He wrapped an arm around her and sat them down on the floor. He knelt before her and cupped her face.
“Sakura, listen to me. Focus on my voice. I need you to calm down. I need you to breathe. Breathe slowly. Can you do that for me?”
He spoke softly, his voice trying to be as soothing and calm as possible. He couldn't give in to his own panic. It wasn't going to help anyone. It was a little while before he noticed that his voice was finally reaching her. He rubbed circles against her back, attentive to her every reaction.
“Look at me, that's it. Focus on my voice. 1,2, Take a deep breath in. 3,4, breathe out. Again. Good. Breathe slowly, breathe for me, baby. It’s going to be okay. Just keep going.”
Sakura followed the sound of his voice, clinging desperately to his every word, his soothing tone. She was breathing for him. An eternity seemed to pass before she finally calmed down. Her eyelids were heavy. She felt so tired. Itachi whispered sweet nothings in her ear and stroked her back. She leaned lightly against him. He was strong. Solid. Reliable. He was her anchor.
“Stay... stay with me…” she murmured. Her eyelids grew heavier by the second. She even thought she felt Itachi's lips kiss her forehead and speak to her;
“I'm here. I'm not going anywhere. Rest, Angel. We'll talk when you wake up.”
“Promise?”
“Promise.”
And that was the last thing Sakura heard before surrendering to sleep. Oblivious to the world and to itachi carrying her to lie in bed.

Hey, I’m just here to make some recommendations for the Naruto fandom 👋🏼
If I can recommend a naruto fanfic it’s will be this one :
In good company by Weialala on AO3
She has that and so much more :
- centered on sasuke
- with a bit of sasuke/naruto
- Sakura well written
- an incredible relationship between kakashi and sasuke
- humor (you're going to cry with laughter)
- angst (absolutely a lot, you're going to cry period)
She is sincerely incredible, one of the best stories I've read (I started on Wattpad when I was 11 and I went through fanfiction.net before arriving here (ao3)and I'm now 22 😭😭)

You know what would be funny?
So let's say with my Sakura reincarnation au elements with the Harunos able to see their past lives memories/ghosts. Shachi and Haruka have been around since Sakura was born.
Shachi and Haruka coo and gush over her. Sakura's their baby, and they'll make damn sure her life ends better than theirs' did. They know that eventually, when she gets put on a genin team, there's a high chance that if her team mates have past lives, she'll start seeing them too. It happens. The closer a Haruno gets to somebody, the more likely they know each other in a past life.
Then comes the day when team 7 was assigned. While waiting in that empty classroom, Shachi and Haruka notice Sakura fidgeting. She kept looking between her two teammates. Haruka remembers doing the same thing when she first saw the ghosts of Indra and Ashura. But it would be too early for Sakura to start seeing. . .
"OH HELL NO!" Six voices shouted. Four while looking at one another, and two looking at the other four.
Sakura flinched hard, thankful she was sitting behind the boys. While Haruka could be loud at times, Sakura has never heard Shachi raise her voice once. She has never heard such venom in either of their voices before. Except for that one time. . .wait a minute.
Searching back through her past lives' memories, she found the identities of the four ghostly men she could now see. Who all seemed so surprised she could see them. Yeah, Sakura doesn't blame Shachi and Haruka being upset. She would be pretty pissed too if she was suddenly reunited with her husband and best friend, who both also happened to be the reason she's dead.
Shachi and Haruka are outraged. THEY HAVE TO DEAL WITH THEM AGAIN!?
DEATH DO WE PART MOTHERFUCKER! WHY ARE YOU STILL HERE?!?!?! I DON'T GET PEACE IN DEATH EITHER?!?!
Poor Sakura has to pretend she doesn't see the six ghosts all yelling at one another. Has to pretend she doesn't have a front row seat to the ghostly drama. She wishes she could somehow give the sight to Naruto and Sasuke too so they can suffer with her.
Shachi and Haruka are also protective of Sakura. So, if any of the boys' past lives try to interact with her, it's the fastest way to get an angry pink lady on their case.
What would be even funnier if Sasuke and Naruto could interact with their past lives but only them. So they're seeing half the show. Sasuke only sees Indra and Madara cowering, muttering about angry wives. Meanwhile, Naruto only sees Ashura and Hashirama trying to placate someone, a sister?
Then poor Sakura just sees the whole thing of her past lives trying to beat the ass of Sasuke's past lives because they are still angry at them. Natuto's past lives are trying to calm the situation, but Sakura's past lives are still angry at them, too. Then Sasuke's past lives are yelling Naruto's past lives, and they start arguing, which just sets all on fire again.
#i just want it to be a ghostly shit show between the last lives#while baby genin team 7 watches on and suffers#angst? nah give me comedic drama#genin babies are feral enough to join in too#naruto#sakura reincarnation au#haruno sakura#sakura haruno#haruka haruno#shachi haruno#uchiha sasuke#sasuke uchiha#madara uchiha#indra otsutsuki#uzumaki naruto#naruto uzumaki#hashirama senju#ashura otsutsuki
