i wanna talk about romantic killer and how impactful anzu is. the narrative has a theme with anzu having more impact than she seems to notice.

Before the show even starts, Anzu's been impactful. It could be blamed on the long-time crush, but Junta's a big case of this. Anzu bluntly told him he'd likely be good at baseball, so he tried it and she was right. One observation led him into a lot of his friends, and possibly his future career, but Anzu's oblivious to it. I think she noticed her impact with Saki, but in anzu's mind, there was nothing else to do. Someone hurt her friend and she was going to stand up for her so Saki wouldn't have to keep dealing with that.

Tsukasa is an interesting case in regard to anzu's impact. It's basically camouflaged until Kishi shows up. Anzu saw him blaming himself, after all, that's what most people did the first time. But anzu hits him with the most amazing line about wishing she could've been there to believe him then. and in the moment before he tells Kishi off, we see how much that impacted him.

the impact to Hijiri is the most obvious. Like we hear from Tsuchiya that Anzu's rejection led him to try seeing from a "commoner's point of view". Which helped him not simply rely on his status and wealth, aka influencing his life for the better. So anzu's far more aware of this, but she seems so shocked about it im more sure she doesn't notice her impact.

and then there's Riri. I think it's kinda a 2-way street, as these two changed each other for the better simultaneously. Anzu by calling out how Riri's lack of understanding humans would only hurt them, and Riri calling out how Anzu only caring about her greatest desires was isolating her(specifically from romance but it was hurting her friendships too). anzu's impact on riri shows more in their actions, like staying in human form more and trying to act like a human would. and those attempts build into them caring about anzu beyond just their job, esp in the last couple of episodes. Riri's barely in potato form and breaks the rules 3 different times for anzu, things the riri from episode 1 would've never done, lest they get a pay cut.

In conclusion, anzu is that friend who apropos nothing says the most insightful thing that will stick with you for years, but totally forgot about it right after.

My headcannons for romantic killer

• Tsukasa brings home little cat trinkets for Anzu when he goes shopping, he put them in her room for her without saying he bought anything.

•Hijiri is a really bad singer but he thinks he’s great because no one has ever told him otherwise for fear of losing their job.

•Makoto has period products that he carries with him for his female friends if they need them, he’s never grossed out by any of it because of all his sisters.

•Hijiri’s crush on Anzu was at first sight. When She got in the car he liked her immediately, that’s a reason why he was so willing to work to win her over.

•Saki gets on average 5-7 love confessions a day, sometimes from guys who have already asked her out!

•Junta is a master at sleeping in loud or uncomfortable situations since his younger siblings come and sleep in his bed when they have nightmares.

*We’re so twin like that, I have a billion younger siblings too, (four) so falling asleep in an uncomfortable position is second nature*

•Saki once had her brother beat up a creepy older guy who was following her around, it was witnessed by others and nobody ever followed or creeped on her again.

•Anzu needs white noise to sleep at night but Tsukasa can’t stand it. It’s always a battle about who will get their way that night.

•Anzu likes the weirdest food combos, like dipping her veggies in barbecue sauce, or adding cinnamon to her soup at dinner, it’s appalling to see her eat it to everyone around her.

•Junta likes pistachio ice cream, and Anzu makes fun of it and says he’s like an old man.

•Riri is constantly having to have their wand sanitized because Anzu keeps throwing it into contaminants for casting annoying spells.

•Makoto wears perfume instead of cologne because it smells better to him

•Makoto had really girly things as a kid because they were hand me downs from his sisters

•Hijiri is a germaphobe. Once Junta sneezed around him and he stayed home from school for a week because he needed to “quarantine” himself.

I recently started watching Romantic Killer and I was doing my usual look through of the VAs (Watching in Japanese this time) and I noticed a few things.

A lot of the VAs I recognized

Most of them were in hoyoverse games (aka most in genshin and 1 in star rail)

I could make an AU out of this

I had the idea for a long time to translate into English and post this post, but for some reason I thought about it for a long time. In general, this idea is not really mine, I was inspired to do it by one person (I admire they headcanons, heheh), however, I don't know how to mark them on the blog-...I'm sorry.🥹

In the end, I just want to add that thanks to this person, what inspires me and sharing their wonderful story!🩵 (@yansimstorythatiwillnotworkon ...I kind of figured out how it works, yeah).

i went into romantic killer for a refreshing parody poking fun at typical romcom tropes which i certainly got but i was not expecting to also get a serious depiction of the trauma caused by stalking and constant unwanted advances….. it was a great watch tho would recommend

so here for the “romance can’t be artificially created but can only potentially happen through naturally forming genuine connections with people and neither should it have to be someone’s main priority at the expense of everything else in their life” message of this whole show

I've changed the students' classes. This, amongst other topics are just things I changed for the sake of it. Some of these new seating arrangements help with the plot of the story, and some others are just changed for no particular reason.

I guess a more important reason would be that it reflects what age I think some of the characters would be. (Typically ranging from 16-18.) Random idea I've somehow never stumbled across on Tumblr (If somebody already did this please let me know, I wanna see) but Hazbin Hotel in Romantic Killer. Just with the fact that Alastor gets shipped with, uh... everybody.

If you don't know the plot of the series, basically, Riri, a nonbinary yellow potato Cupid who is trying to get their big, juicy paycheck, just fucking spawns in chocolate and video game-obsessed cat-lover Anzu's house to turn her life into a real-life dating sim and forcing her to play by taking her three favorite things from her, since... I forgot the reason why that was Riri's job lol. Anzu vows to, instead of actually falling in love with any of the quote-unquote 'hot guys' that are now surrounding her, beat the game and get her things back without falling in love. Along the way, she ends up befriending all of them and also getting Riri to fall for her stubborn ass by complete accident lol.

It's so perfect for Alastor.

(Victim) Anzu Hoshino - Alastor. C'mon, it's perfect. We'll say the three things Alastor's obsessed with are old-timey radios, the deer that live outside his house, and his mom's cooking. The deer all scatter, the radios just vanish, and his mom goes on vacation.

(BFF) Saki Takamine - Rosie!

(Surprise Love interest) Riri - Charlie. Bundle of overenthusiastic, hyperactive, redemption love-obsessed and slightly embarrassing chaos that also sometimes is a little sneaky + willing to do pretty much anything for the people they care about = Charlie.

(Love interest #1) Tsukasa Kazuki - Angel Dust. The personality doesn't reaaally fit, but I was thinking more about the setup + main story arc around this guy. Popular boy that doesn't fully like the attention? Yeah, Angel Dust. (I'm sorry, Angel)

(I fucking hate her, she's 100% worse than Val in some areas ->) Yukana Kishi - Valentino.

(The loyal friend) Makoto Oda - Cherri Bomb. No clue why, I just wanna say Cherri Bomb. (Probably because she was the only friend of Angel Dust prior to the series that I know of)

(Easy mode/Love interest #best) Junta Hayami - Vox. (Spoiler, they're both my favorite choices lol). Childhood best friend that had a crush on the MC from a young age and basically changed themselves a lot to be their dream person and is also just over all a mess that matches the interests and fears of the MC pretty well. (Love interest #3) Hijiri Koganei - Lucifer. I'm getting tired of doing the description T-T. Rich guy that's on top of the world and doesn't want to interact with 'peasants' (aka sinners) and is just very prideful.
