I am not sure what to say to that LOL I...would I? Would I make a good dom?

I am a very small, soft-looking woman...But I have piercings and tattoos, I love wearing black, and I am a teacher by trade, so I am good at barking out orders...

If I wasn't required to actually hurt or humiliate anyone (Shame is the poison of life, but this is not the time or place for that rant)...I could. I'd be a tad too gentle maybe at the beginning :D

(But I'd make sure to be meticulous about aftercare, have snacks ready, and I give amazing comforting cuddles).

This is the first time someone said I'd make a good dom because I am caring, but you know what? I'll take it :D

I've had a rotten day, and this made me feel a little better.

17. Did any books surprise you with how good they were?

So I wasn't exactly surprised that the Silmarillion is good, but I was surprised by just how much I enjoyed reading it if that makes sense? From the way people talk about it I half-expected to be fighting my way through it, and that just... wasn't the case for me at all. Which isn't to say that it's not difficult in parts and all, but it's also nowhere as dry and rough as it's often made out to be imo? Like it's a great book, it's fun to read!!

24. Did you DNF anything? Why?

Oh god yeah I made it like, a quarter through Allen Ginsberg's Collected Poetry before I gave up. Like I get why it would have had the impact it had at its time, and there are definitely some great poems in there. There are just also... a LOT of poems where eventually, I felt like talking to an overly verbose 10-year-old boy. Which, again in the context of its time, of course it'd have been provocating and brave and all in that. But lord above I couldn't do it - sometimes best of collections really are the way to go, I'm sorry.

25. What reading goals do you have for next year?

I want to make a good dent into my TBR of books I already own! My general goal is a minimum of 24 books per year, and I want to read at least half of those from stuff that's been on my shelves for a while, while also not buying more than two new books max per month. I had the same goal this year and failed utterly (thanks Tolkien), so we're trying again in 2025 🫡

“that was horrible, never let me smoke your cigarettes again,” she declared, putting it back between his lips. “i left a lipstick mark on it, sorry.” she laughed.

“that would be the last thing i’d mind,” he chuckled around the cylinder.

“right.” she grinned.

they were sitting on the floor of james’ bedroom, mary’s legs thrown over sirius’, his hand resting against her thigh, rubbing small circles at the flesh.

“i was thinking,” she said, cautiously, taking the cigarette between her boyfriend’s lips and inhaling cautiously out of it, before returning it to him.

“what?”

“about dumbledore’s visit. i—” mary licked her lips, at a loss of words, “i don’t want to join the war. i don’t want to fight. i don’t want to die.”

“you don’t have to,” sirius shrugged, tipping his head back and blowing the smoke out of his mouth. “nobody’s forcing you to join. it’s your life, you can do whatever you want with it.”

“i’ve already had a row with marlene about it, though.” mary groaned. “about why i don’t want to join and how that’s so cowardly of me.”

“you don’t want to die.” sirius stated. “i don’t think that’s cowardly.”

“do you want to die?”

“i’d die for what i believe in,” he shrugged, lazily taking a drag, “i’d die to keep the ones i love safe.”

“you’d die for james,” she said, saying what she knew he wouldn’t say; not in front of her, either way.
