Finished a doll I started months ago!
Character: Lyfia
Series: Saint Seiya Soul of Gold
Base doll: My Scene doll
I don't think I'll ever use a My Scene doll again, the legs are strung through the torso with elastic, so holding any sort of standing pose without a stand is impossible 🙅. The only real upside is My Scene dolls can wear Barbie shoes, so I was able to use a basic pair of white Barbie pumps for her shoes.

*PUNCHES WALL* OH MY GOD AIOLOS IS SUCH A GOOD CHARACTER
Just the thought of a character who "betrayed" his home in order to protect a goddess who is just as likely capable of dooming the world because he believed in her is so fucking good and on top of that before his death he was willing to entrust her to a complete stranger in hopes that they would be able to take care of her and keep her safe.
He died hoping for a better future, hoping to save a world he wouldn't be a part of anymore, and I think that's fucking beautiful.
#Saint Seiya#Sagittarius Aiolos#txt#and thats without getting into his inner turmoil of leaving aiolia behind#i wish we got more story for him besides 'he saved saori and died'#fuck and him still feeling bad for saga during sog 😐🚬#tbh this is all i came back for i just had to get this out of my system#1 like = a complete character analysis on him

Decided to some little shipping game.
Explanations:
Ship That I Loved At First Sight
I don't know how to explain, I just love them so much, maybe it's their similar age and matching zodiacs, but they are my babies. Fight me if you don't like them!
Ship That I Initially Didn't Like
HyoShun, it's not like I was "ew, what a disgusting ship", but I found it to be quite overrated. It's still not my Top 3 ship, but I grew very fond of it
Ship That I Never Liked
The original was ship that I no longer like, but I don't have it in StS, I'm still faithful to all my ships. But I do have ships that I hate, the Top 1 being Shura x Camus for two reasons: one, they don't have chemistry or any interesting interaction to spark a wish to ship them in me. Two, if I had to choose someone to have some close relationship with Shura, it would be either Deathmask, Aphrodite, Aiolia, or even Saga or Aiolos, but Camus, really?
Favorite Popular Ship
Maybe Mu x Aldebaran is not that popular as Mu x Shaka (what is a shame, Mu and Aldebaran have a lot more chemistry for me), but I still think that this ship is quite popular, so I'm putting this one here.
Favorite Rarepair
Okay, it may be weird that I don't like Shura x Camus, but like Deathmask x Camus, but the reason is because Shura x Camus is forced as hell, mainly in SoG, where they are constantly trying to make us believe that they had some sort of friendship and that's why they were fighting, but guess what, they never had it in first place, so this conflict (and ship) falls flat. But with Deathmask x Camus, even tho they never interacted too, we got a moment of Camus mentioning Deathmask when the "Dark Trio" was heading to Cancer Temple, and this was... interesting. Plus, they would have much more chemistry with each other, Deathmask trying to make Camus be more lively and energetic, while Camus would teach Deathmask to be more calm and collected.
Controversial Ship
Tbh, I don't have it. The closest that I can think about is Hypnos x Thanatos, just to clarify, I don't ship them, but if I had to believe that some incestuous ship would happen, it would be between them because we know how Greek Gods are like with their relatives. But I won't say that I don't have the idea of Hypnos being the sub top, while Thanatos is a dom bottom 😶.
Ship That I Want To Become Canon The Most
Well, even tho I love Trash Trio, I can't deny that I see them more like just best friends (who may fuck sometimes, but still best friends), but Aiolia x Shura is actually really cute. The drama, dynamics, relationship that this couple would have is so juicy. SoG may have give us terrible, horrible ships (Shura x Camus, again; Aiolia x Lyfia; Deathmask x Helena; Dohko x Aldebaran), but Shura x Aiolia isn't one of those, I would dare to say that it's the best ship that SoG gave to us along with Deathmask x Aphrodite.
Comfort Ship
Again, Trash Trio, nothing new here.
Ship That Deserves More Attention
Ikki x Pandora actually is one of the few best straight couples from Saint Seiya. Ignoring the fact that Ikki smacked Pandora on the face, but this was because she was getting on his way to save Shun, so it's slightly understandable, what made me ship them is their final interaction: Pandora finally vents her problems to someone and trust on Ikki to avenge her real family, that Hades, Hypnos and Thanatos destroyed, in turn, we see that Ikki actually empathized with her, this short scene managed to be better developing some sort of romance (what wasn't even the focus) than a lot of love stories from media nowadays. Sadly it's overshadowed with some other ships like Ikki x Esmeralda, dude got infatuated with a girl who was identical to his younger brother, what is... ew, and Pandora x Radamanthys, poor Pandora, she deserves better than Radamanthys, I hate this bitch.
First OTP
That's easy, it was Seiya x Shun. Those two spend a lot more time together than with the other Bronzies, so it's easy for me to ship. I personaly like it more than Seiya x Shiryu or Shun x Hyoga, not saying that those two ships are bad, I like them and if you like them it's fine.
Current OTP
It has to be Saga x Aiolos, while Shion and Dohko where the kid Goldies granddads, Saga and Aiolos where their mother and father, respectively (Kanon was the uncle). I'm actually glad how popular this ship is, and pretty sure that Kurumada ships them too, otherwise all their gay interactions in Episode Zero wouldn't been happened in first place.

Hello, I am here to bring propaganda to our lord and savior, the GOAT himself, Shura. I might just ramble more than anything really but I wish to express all my love for this character.
First of all, if one thing defines Shura it is Aiolos. There is no Shura and how he is/grows without Aiolos and his death. Having to kill his friend characterizes Shura in ALL Saint Seiya spin-offs (believe me, there are many). Whether it be something he's proud of (being the one who killed a traitor) or he's shown having remorse for, it is the second line he introduces himself into in the original manga.
Even before he mentions Excalibur, the sacred sword he is VERY proud of no matter which version. Being Aiolos' killer is still the first thing he mentions about himself, 13 years after his death. This kill makes him also very important in the storywise because it not happening changes 100% Saint Seiya's story. That's how powerful Shura is. He is a key character in the story despite not being the main character.
Aiolos' death varies through the versions of each spin-off, with even Kuramada giving us his vision of this event decades after the original manga left it as a simple mention. There are elements that are in common, especially, that Aiolos and Shura knew each other, making it even more painful. Their stories are a tragedy, Shura being under the Pope's direct order to kill Aiolos makes it impossible for him to disobey it. In no version is Shura aware at this instant that the Pope is a usurper. Saintia Sho showed very well how Shura cannot rebel. His wrath at learning about Aiolos' betrayal also plays a role. The pain and anger blind Shura.
They are also cases where Shura is not just obeying the Pope out of duty but also hinting that Shura's been corrupted by him using Genromaoken. It occurs in a video game but also in Episode G where later on, Shura learns the truth about the Pope's identity and Saga uses his attack to get him back to follow him.
Aiolos' death is an event, no matter which version, that lives rent-free in Shura's mind. He's the one who has to live with his blood on his fingers, Excalibur's most likely first kill and it was someone he was close to. It affects him greatly, especially in Okada's spin offs or Outside Story due to how close they were beforehand. Shura's role model is a traitor and he's the one who had to kill him.
This angst story does not end there for Shura, he grows to become a much more pessimistic man, having a black & white vision of the world. People are selfish, only the strong people survive and it is justice. He lives solely during those 13 years to be able to find a successor to Excalibur (Episode G) or believe that the real Athena is still in the Sanctuary (LoS/Anime), he's ready to die for the sin he committed by killing a brother in arms (SoG)
But then, Shura meets Shiryu. This fight is two visions battling. Shiryu is struggling no matter the countless warnings of Shura to stop this hopeless battle. Despite Shiryu being his enemy, a rebel that he should kill, Shura still does not want him to suffer. Advising him to give up before losing his life for nothing. Yet, Shiryu is very much suicidal, willing to sacrifice himself for the greater good: something unbelievable in Shura's mindset of how this world is.
In the anime, this fight is also a battle to bring the truth about Aiolos. Not only is Shiryu's persistence able to bring hope to Shura by proving that this world is not a lost case but also that Aiolos was not a traitor. Shura admits he has been wrong and apologizing to both Shiryu and Aiolos is what makes him an amazing character. To admit when you're wrong, to apologize takes lots of effort.
Instead of letting another man die because of him, Shura does everything in his power to prevent Shiryu's death. He sacrifices himself by giving the Dragon Saint everything he has. Not only giving him the Capricorn cloth but also Excalibur. And judging how those are the two most precious belongings in Shura, that says a lot. It is his will passed down to Shiryu, for Shura to be able to fight for the good through Shiryu's hand. Their bond is among the best thing shown in Saint Seiya and its spin-offs. Especially that heartbreaking scene in Hades arc before Shura dies again.
Because yes, Shura comes back to life quite a few times to suffer again and again. Whether it be to fight past comrades under the pretense of being a traitor, to be thrown through different times and universes to battle once more brother-in-arms, or to save the world again. At the end of the day, he dies again and again.
And yet he is able to smile and stand up again to fight for what he believes in.

Things I want to say about Saint Seiya Soul of Gold that no one asked for but I will tell you anyway
(This are just personal opinions)
In order to make this more understandable, we will break it down to sub topics
1. The Gold Saints motivations and opinion on the matter
As expected, for the way the story is told, we , the audience, are expected to think Aioria is the one doing the right thing and acting the way one is suppose to act in a situation like this (fighting for justice is the right thing, let's make it clear before I go on) while saints like, let say, Deathmask, who is just "chilling" while pretending he is not depressed, is treated like a bad person. And Deathmask IS a bad person, but not for not wanthing to fight here.
But he is not the only one who behaved in an "inappropriate" way. Dohko was fighting and drinking, Camus was being a traitor, Shaka was being cautious, and they were all right! They didn't HAVE to fight.
I accept this may be my own point of view as a tired over worked millennial, but they are Athena saints... they were not brought back by her. Other than thankfulness for getting their lives back, they had no obligation to fight there. I am actually surprised they didn't try to go back to Hades to help the bronces as soon as the realize they were alive again.
Just because Aioria and Milo are so freaking intense (fucking Milo died way to soon),it does mean all of them should have jump into the that train as soon as Simba did. The scene when he asked DM to fight and the crab says no it's shown in a way that we would think Deathmask is being a bitch, but he just died in Hades...his contract has basically expired (and he didn't thought his cloth would take him back), but his argument still stands.
This is getting way to long so I just will say that, aside Aioria, the saints general reaction was to test the waters first, on their ways, and then take action. Shaka wasn't even goikg to move, if Athena hadn't answers his prayer, he would have stayed in that cave forever).
(Camus situation was weird. Calling him a traitor doesn't feel ok because he wasn't actually working for Andreas or helping him on his evil ways, he was there because of his friend. A person he apparently cares about and who he ends up killing... typical for the aquarius saints).
2. Dokho
And then, there's Dohko. I have seen comments saying he should had acted his age in SoG, that is over 200 years old and fightingfor sport and driking like that was not in character and stuff like that...but here is the thing, if you had spend over 200 years guarding a freaking tower, and then die almost immediately after, I bet you would like to relax if suddenly you were back to life. And he wasn't acting out of character, he has been shown to actually have a care free attitude, while being completely serious on his mission as a saint and the voice of reason for his young peers (Next Dimension shows us that he called Shiryu boring for being so strict and intense when they first met). He wasn't being immature or careless, he was thinking things through. Actually, he was the one who doubt about Lyfia, like a normal sensitive person would, when she went posseded mode.
3. ASGARD
I've heard people who didn't like the spin off at all saying that there was no need to go back to Asgard...and I halfway agree.
The place itself is not a problem, but the way they managed the time. This is a short series and we lose sooo much time with new characters.
The reason why the original Asgard worked in the classic was not only because the God warriors were interesting and actual threats to the Bronzes, but because by that time we know our five protagonists very well. We had seem them develop through the course of the series. This didn't happen with the Gold Saints, as defined as their personalities are, we hadn't actually had time to actually spend time with them! I get why Aioria is the protagonist, he is a fan favorite, heck he is one of mine, actually. But he is one of the more developed, and was it really necessary to keep him away from the other gold saints? Wouldn't it had been better to have a spin off about the gold saints FOCUSED ON THE GOLD SAINTS?
Maybe I am lowkey salty that Aioros was barely there. I get that he is meant to be more a symbol than an actual character, but I want to see him being flawed, I want to see him interact with others in a more casual way. I want to see him in actions but insted all he did was "behind the scenes" and that kinda sucks...
(Also none of the new asgardians are interesting, and they could have done so much with a god such as Loki whose mythology is actually fun, but no! Let's take the safest road, right? )
4. IDK how to title this section
Kanon is not there and that sucks cause he is my favorite. But joke aside it would had been interesting to see him there (but more on that on a different post...eventually)
5. I did enjoy SoG, despite what you just read.
This show had some good moments
The confrontation between Shura and Aioria was maybe my favorite part.
Aioria fighting alongside Aioros was fantastic, I loved that moment, the brothers are back together and it was great (and this is the moment that, in my mind, play against the show because I was like "hey...why wasn't the whole thing like this")
Aphrodite. he was the real hero of the story. They would have lose without him...probably
So yeah, SoG was a mess , the animation was so bad it was actually funny, I couldn't care less for the new characters, and the gold saint didn't shine as much as they could. And I was going to end this post with "but at least we got something" but, you know what? No... we deserve better.
I want better
P.s. the concept of not only blood but any type of fluid that comes from Athena can produce a god cloth is weird and I don't think they thought it through.

Since they showed Saori was aware of what was going on at Asgard during the events of SoG, Do you think Odin asked her to lend her saints to him?
What if he asked specifically for Athena's main bronce boy group, because they got quite the résumé, and she was like
"No"
But then she agrees to let him wake up the Golds because most of them would be use to it by now and is not like they were doing anything else
