Since Dexter is on Netflix I decided to finally give it a watch (the first 4 seasons anyway) I'm a few episodes into season 2 and it just hit me who Lila reminds me of

The way Sage smiled when she repeated "Caesar" like she knew Homelander was not intelligent enough to realise what he just did right there. The second he namedropped Caesar he sealed his fate and she knows it. He wants to become like Caesar he'll end up like Caesar.

i GOTTA know your thoughts on the Boys S4 so far

I'm . . . enjoying it. Like, really enjoying it? More than I thought would be possible after season three (nearly) demolished any and all enthusiasm I held towards it.

I'm especially loving the whole 'Pinky and the Brain' thing Sister Sage has going on with Homelander.

Sage herself is such a breath of fresh air. I find her extremely charming on her own but watching her maneuver Homelander is so entertaining. I can't remember the last time he had someone genuinely interesting to play off of. I've always said that my love for HL is so monumental that it eclipses every other character in the show (so much so that it prevents me from even *having* a second favorite character) but that has changed with Sage.

I'm not thrilled about the generous amount of screen time being allotted to Frenchie of all characters. Paying attention to storylines that have nothing to do with Homelander is already hard for me so sitting through the Frenchie Guilt Extravaganza is borderline painful.

I love everything going on with Ryan. It's no secret that child actors are reaaaally hit or miss, but this kid is knocking it out of the park every single time he's on screen. I'm so impressed that he can hold his own against Homelander in all of their shared scenes.

Starlight was losing me up until that one scene with Firecracker. Call it out of character, call it sloppy writing, but I think it adds another layer to her. Starlight had/has the ability to be a vindictive little beast? Noted.

I could write more but I'm going to be merciful and stop there. I'm tentatively optimistic that this season will be better than the last. Which. . . isn't actually that much of an accomplishment. The bar is low. The bar is on the floor.

With all of that being said, regardless of if the writing tailspins in the second half of S4 the same way it did in S3, I can die in peace with all of the good Homelander content I got out of those first three episodes. I can die in peace because I have ↓ THIS ↓

'smartest character in the world' is always such a difficult trope to write because the writers can almost never make that pay off in a satisfying way. but it WORKED here. not only did it work phenomenally well from a plot perspective, they made it work so beautifully from a character perspective!

the fact that she's doing this for enrichment! just to prove she can! because for her entire life she's been disrespected and pushed aside and underestimated not only as a supe, but as a black woman? revolutionary. best character in the show. i'm in love.

Sage and Metal don't exactly have a pod, but they don't need to worry about anything - their dads are more dangerous and protective than any pod out there 🥚🪨

okay but why is this season of the boys such a mess. like. episodes 1 - 5 were actually pretty good (especially 4 and 5, specifically the homelander + hughie and his dad plotlines respectively in those were SO good), then ep 6 was a clusterfuck outside of butcher's stuff, and i kinda thought we were on track for something pretty okay when annie took hughie's assault seriously at the end of the episode only for it to just be brushed off this episode AND hughie gets SA'd AGAIN?????? HELLO?????

Iruka's so fucking bad at expressing things it actually makes me laugh. During the shinobi war when he has to try and keep Naruto in place the only reason he brings up the whole "you're like a little brother to me" thing is because it's a tactic to try and get him to stay. If he wasn't basically being forced to show that card he would've taken that shit to his grave. AND EVEN THEN HE CAN'T PROPERLY SAY "DON'T DIE" OR WHATEVER HE HAS TO SNEAK IT INTO A NOTE AND THEN HIDE SAID NOTE IN NARUTO'S HEADBAND ON THE OFF CHANCE HE HAPPENS TO SEE IT
