Whimzeyland, the “Bowling Ball House”, is a local landmark located in Safety Harbor, Florida, created by artists Todd Ramquist and Kiaralinda.
About the house from their website–
In 1985, they purchased the beige house on Third Street in Safety Harbor, Florida. They traveled everywhere, actively seeking out inspirational and unusual places. Inspired by these travels, they began transforming their house. One of the earliest additions were the wooden triangles to the eaves of their house. The beige house became bold in color, too.
One day, they went to a flea market and saw a sign that said that anybody could take 10 free bowling balls. They took the bowling balls and began painting and placing them around the property. This is how they became known as the bowling ball house of Safety Harbor.
Todd and Kiaralinda even branched out of decorating their home, creating two different art cars, designed a restaurant, and making public sculptures, among other things. They began calling themselves the Whimzey Twinz because they work together on all of their projects.
Their travels soon included visits to folk artists and artists that they met at their shows. These friends visited them, too. Todd and Kiaralinda’s bowling balls inspired many of them. They would create bowling balls for Todd and Kiaralinda, who got so many of these works from artist friends that they started a gallery in their home. They created a “Call for Balls” which made a lot more of these art works roll into their home. Today, they have over 80 bowling balls from various artists around the world and people still bring them bowling balls as gifts.
If you are in the area, make sure to also stop by Safety Harbor Art and Music Center (SHAMc), a nonprofit they opened in 2017. It has an art gallery and shop, and hosts music events and art classes as well.

I think my favorite part about the Luna-1 hotdog-style Ambulon incident is the "fuck around and find out moment" of Ratchet taunting Pharma with his insecurities only to be surprised/fearful when Pharma brought in Ambulon and First Aid to be bisected.
Like, aside from the fact that I love Pharma and think he deserves some murder as a treat
It's actually kind of a really good character moment for Ratchet where he super fucked up, like it's extremely rare in the whole of IDW for Ratchet to have made a mistake that bad and it's a fun addition to his character imo. He clearly thought he was in control of the situation and felt some kind of arrogant/clever about thinking he'd successfully manipulated, only for it to turn out "oops you just ended up escalating the situation and putting your friends in danger instead." Arrogance/recklessness aren't something you typically associate with Ratchet so I think the situation is really cool if only bc we got to see an aspect of Ratchet's personality that doesn't really come out otherwise.
Also it means that Ratchet 🤝 Rung -> Making a really stupid decision to provoke/taunt someone emotionally unstable in the middle of a hostage situation and just making it worse

I think I finally figuredout what bothered me so much about the way people talk about old vs new houses. So many folk treat the sort of decorative work in older places as though it were a finite thing that just magically appeared there.
Scroll work and stained glass, carved banisters, those cost money when they went in. those cost a Fuck ton when they were first commissioned. If they were made for the house and not by the homeowners. but the key thing is that they were Made.
If you own a place, (and honestly even if you don't, just make it easy to take shit down when it's time to move) there's nothing stopping you from filling it with those same sorts of decorations. You can save up and commission a crafts person in your area, one piece at a time until youre home feels Right for you. Or you can just get the tools and put on a YouTube tutorial. Learn a skill and make your surroundings just that little bit more beautiful in the same way the owners of those old homes you like so much did. One step at a time over years and years.
The know how and tools to do this stuff have only gotten cheaper and more widely available, hell with how easy power tools are to find and use nowadays you can even do it faster than they ever could. there's no brick wall between you and a character filled home.

So I've hit a bit of a dead end in my life where I have no idea what to do or what I want to do. Do you have any advice on how to try and figure it all out?
Also I love ur duncney fics you should be an author <3
listen, anon. i'm 26. as much as i am flattered that you think i have it figured out, i do not. i'm willing to bet i wont have it figured out in ten years or twenty or forty-five. the thing is, i'm fine with that.
so here's my advice:
honestly, just keep living. put one foot in front of the other. find things you enjoy for no other purpose than enjoyment.
you don't have to 'do' anything -- living is about experiences. not every one of them have to have a purpose.
most of being human is drifting around and wondering why youre here. none of us really have the answer. that's okay. that's normal. maybe you'll never figure out what you're meant to 'do'. and that's fine!
the thing that keeps me anchored in the sea of Being Alive All the Time, and the thing that keeps most people anchored, is passion.
step one of discovering your passion, whatever it is, is to allow yourself to discover it. pick up pointless new hobbies and let yourself put them down if you dont enjoy them. read new books. read wikipedia articles for things youve never heard of. go on long walks in new parts of your neighborhood. listen to a new podcast. watch a video essay about something stupid youve always been curious about.
make bad art. paint shitty pictures, draw shitty portraits, write shitty stories. let yourself be bad at things. let yourself be purposeless.
accept the fact that you are human and unsure about your place in the universe -- because those two things go hand in hand. this is the curse of sentience. embrace it.

As to whether the Gavle Goat's consumption should be seen as a good omen or a bad omen, I'd say good. Traditionally the Yule goat is made of straw from the final harvest and as a talisman against hard times, and there are unproven theories that its shape is inspired by Thor's goats, who are constantly killed, eaten, and reborn to provide endless meat for Thor and whatever guests he entertains. Therefore, its use by birds as a food store and safe harbor is an affirmation of its original purpose and truly in the Christmas spirit of generosity in lean times. What's more, the birds eating it seems to be have been the one outcome to unite both goat burners and goat keepers, as they have decided not to scare the birds away from their safe harbor and not to harm the goat, a decision that has been universally lauded.
As omens go, this one's all positive: safety, plenty, and unity between previous ideological opponents through a creative third solution built on shared values (birds being fed and sheltered is a good thing). May more birds find their way to the Gavle Goat next year.
