RECENT UPDATES ON THE BAD INTERNET CALIFORNIA BILLS:
Sadly, both AB1949 and SB976 passed and are now on their way to the governors desk.
We need him to veto them so they dont become Law.
If you havent Heard of the danger of those bills for the Internet , this post explain it thoroughly :
- Post doing a deep explanation on those bills here
I CANNOT emphasize enough how these would have a global effect on the Internet given that most websites and apps originates from California and not all of them could afford either following those bills or moving states.
Now, as the bills are on their way to the governor, we need Californian citizens to voice their oppositions to those bills to the Governor Gavin Newsome HERE
(Non California peeps, we are urging you to share this as well!!! )
Please keep in mind that calling with phone is much, much more efficient.
You can also send faxes with Faxzero
Here are scripts you can use as arguments : (text/alt version below the read more )
Than you for reading. Even if youre not from California, please spread the word anyway ! Make posts, tweets, etc
REBLOGS ENCOURAGED
TEXT VERSION :
AB 1949
Hello, my name is (INSERT NAME HERE) and I'm one of the Senator's constituents from (INSERT CITY HERE). I'm calling to urge the Senator to vote NO on AB 1949, the amendment to the California Consumer Privacy Act of 2020. While this bill's intent is to prevent the sharing and sale of minor's information under the age of 18, the method it would intend to do so by is written far too broadly for it to be safely and reasonably implemented.
While this bill retains a safer standard of the business requiring actual knowledge of a consumer being under the age of 18 to be held liable for the sharing or sale of personal information, its wording is still too broad to exclude a default usage of age verification by online businesses in order to protect themselves from liability. Taking measures such as age verification, age assurance, or other data collection and analysis to determine the age of users. Even though measures like this have been proven to be vulnerable to data breaches no matter how secure they proclaim to be. Such as this year's largest discovered breach of AU10TIX, which supplies age verification to companies like TikTok, X, Uber, LinkedIn, Paypal, and many others.
As it stands, this bill is far too broad in its wording and enforcement of its age-specific measures to be considered a safe piece of legislation. Which is why I urge the Senator to vote in opposition to this measure.
Vote NO on AB 1949.
---------------------------
SB 976
Hello, my name is (INSERT NAME HERE) and I'm one of the Assembly member's constituents from (INSERT CITY HERE). I'm calling to urge the Assembly member to vote NO on SB 976, the Protecting Our Kids from Social Media Addiction Act. Although this bill has intent to protect the mental and emotional health of California's youth, the method this bill would intend to use could be counterproductive to that goal, or even endanger them further.
One of this bill's primary measures includes requiring verifiable parental consent to allow websites to display âaddictiveâ feeds to minor users. However, the ways âverifyâ the identity and age of a responsible parent are often invasive and dangerous. Especially since these methods have proven repeatedly to be vulnerable to data breaches that can leak sensitive information to bad actors. Such as this year's largest discovered breach of AU10TIX, which supplies age verification to companies like TikTok, X, Uber, LinkedIn, Paypal, and many others. To determine if this is necessary at all would also require collecting even more data on minors and non-minors alike to determine who would even require these measures to be set in place. Especially when it would have control over someone's access to a website or application based on the time of day, as this bill would require in order to âreasonably determineâ the user is not a minor.
The vagueness of this bill's text at all is dangerous as well. The broad-spectrum definition it gives of âaddictive internet-based service or applicationâ could cause an unintended censorship effect where minors and adults alike could be blocked from accessing information purely because some part of a website or application uses a âfeedâ which could arguably fit the bill's definition of âaddictiveâ
With all of this in mind, I urge the Assembly member to vote in opposition of this measure to protect the privacy and safety of California's minors and adults alike.
Vote NO on SB 976.

Friends and friends of friends a network make
Boys are back in town, no rings (Real Life, not Instabuzz) and active networking:
In this case, those who are missing from the pic are as (if not more) important as those who made it, riding in the rain.
Let's unpack:
John Laurie, Managing Director at the Glenturret distillery, where my personal favorite blend (oh, well, The Famous Grouse - I know, really LOL, but it is what it is) is made. A long, interesting career that started in 2000, as General Manager of a fitness club network headquartered in Irvine, California (LA Fitness) and got him more and more involved in whisky business since 2014, as General Manager of Edrington, the Macallan distillery. If it sounds familiar to you, well... always remember that #silly old slogan on the Pall Mall cigarette packs: 'wherever particular people congregate'. I know I do đ.
Something immediately piqued my interest in this short bio: 'opened a fine dining restaurant that achieved a Michelin star inside 7 months'. And it is, of course, true: part of the reasons I am always using LinkedIn to place people, is that it would be counterproductive to blatantly lie, there. Or childish: even McSideburns knows that, with his very empty page and 1 contact - but what the hell do I know, though, he's more private than if he worked for the MI-6.
The one starred Michelin restaurant who got 'le macaron' in seven months is The Glenturret Lalique Restaurant, that opened in July 2021, on the distillery's premises and got it by February 2022. The first time a distillery wins a Michelin star, by the way:
Now, where did I read a similar business story, not so long ago and wrote about it? Oh, that's right, Tom Kitchin's first restaurant in EDI apparently followed the same yellow brick road to instant success, back in 2007:
Again, I am sensing a theme, here. Associating with young, dynamic and daring entrepreneurial voices in the whisky business. Not exactly the manwhore, closeted gay, peasant and crook some hypocrites would like to portray. I have to say, I am always, always over the moon glad to see the real thing showing up from time to time: a consistent effort to get things done, properly.
But sure, you believe what you want. I cannot force anyone to go beyond a sometimes very limited world view.
Second person being missed is David Coulthard, F1 legend, but also...
Company Director at Whisper Films, one of the most dynamic, fastest growing UK media groups. He founded it in 2010, along Jake Humphries, BBC F1 commenter extraordinaire and Sunil Patel, a former BBC producer, but also a Board Member of the Edinburgh TV Festival:
And for those who might not know it (I didn't), Coulthard hails from Dumfries & Galloway. Mmmhm. Well done, S. Well done.
S knows exactly what he's doing, where he's going and when and with whom he is seen. By this point in time, I think we might safely think his somewhat lackadaisical recent Insta follows (Romanian female MMA athlete? ROFLMAO, really and I howled) as gently trolling this very obsessed invested fandom. As I wrote it many, many times already, the Scottish Mafia is a reality - and good for him, really, to use what is readily available. And if you still had any doubt that was a business informal meeting, The Highland Chieftain tagged SS in his story.
He's going to laugh all the way to the bank, this one. You'll see. Great news and I will always be here to put it in context. Some of the things being heavily peddled around in here might not be very interesting to me - but this yes: this is exciting.
Also, many, many thanks to the two of you who immediately keep me up with these: you know who you are and you are loved, of course, why even ask?đđ

Redacted Boi Social Media Headcanons
Vincent only really uses Instagram, but is required by the Department to have it private because his human name is legally missing-presumed-dead and his face has a risk of being recognized if someone from his human life stumbled upon his Instagram. That said, he doesn't really screen people who request to follow him
Darlin' and Sam don't use any social medias. Darlin' has a Facebook from teenage years, but they deactivated it. But not fully deleted, so they can still be tagged in all the group photos posted to the pack page. In high school, Darlin' was the person who got a lot of unsolicited DMs because they were hot but they hate attention so they blocked everyone but their pack and deactivated. Darlin' reluctantly keeps their Discord for the pack server
David hates social media. He maintains the pack's private Facebook group and Discord server (though the latter is really more Asher's job, David's just in charge) but will not touch anything else. David's favorite social media is YouTube because he can lookup tutorials for anything and not have to ask anyone for help
Milo's a borderline Instagram influencer. He's got a gazillion followers (who all think he's hot, and he is). His Instagram is directly linked to his Facebook, so every picture and caption he puts on IG gets automatically posted to FB too
Marie comments only on Milo's Facebook (she has and kinda uses IG, but doesn't comment). She's the one that will leave the heartfelt comments with "Call me" at the end. She knows that's a meme among younger people that their older relatives leave "what a beautiful couple. Call me" comments, but she does it anyway. And guess what? She does it because it works. Milođ isđađMama'sđBoyđ and he will call her when she leaves those comments
Asher doesn't use social media much, but is perpetually on Discord. He mods the pack's server, and like 6 others just for fun. He does post lots of pictures of Babe and selfies of the two of them together on the pack's Facebook though
Damien used to get into arguments on Twitter with randos. Huxley thinks it's funny to pull them up from when Damien was a teenager
Huxley was never much into most social medias but I like to think he'd be like that one TikTok dude who pops up on my Tumblr dash occasionally who explains how to do calisthenics and other workout stuff in a really simple, easy, modified way for people who are just getting started. People started following him because he's hot, and then realized he's actually like the nicest dude and doesn't know he's popular
Lasko's a Tumblr boy. I'm not taking constructive criticism on this
Gavin refuses to get an Instagram because he knows he'd get too addicted to it. He knows he's ridiculously good-looking and would amass a following supernaturally fast, and that's why he won't. But he has his old Facebook from when it first started to be popular. He got rid of all his old friends list and now just has Freelancer, Huxley, Lasko, Damien, and a handful of d(a)emon friends who also have Facebooks like Crux
Avior doesn't have any social media at all
Neither does Caelum and Gavin and Freelancer have decided not to expose him to the negativity of the internet
Vega refuses
Cam keeps a few things for professional purposes, but doesn't use them much
Guy is a Tumblrina. Guy is a Tumblrina. Guy is a Tumblrina. Guy is
Aaron's favorite is LinkedIn. This is a joke.
Elliott uses Pinterest a lot for aesthetic inspiration for dreams. He doesn't use much else
Blake is on like every social media all the time. Mostly for CloseKnit. But he also stalked Bestie from afar for a long time
James had to get rid of all of his when his job started getting more secretive and he had to have limited contact with the rest of the world
Morgan doesn't have any social media just as a way to keep himself and his magic safe. The Department protections didn't require it, but he thought it was for the best
Porter totally isn't jealous that Vincent has a higher IG follower count than him and his account isn't even private. He's always trailing like 20 behind

RECENT ECOMMERCE NEWS (INCLUDING ETSY), AUGUST 2024
Hello, and welcome to my very last Ecommerce News update here on Tumblr.
After today, these reports will now be found at least twice a week on my Patreon, available to all paid members. See more about this change here on my website blog: https://www.cindylouwho2.com/blog/2024/8/12/a-new-way-to-get-ecommerce-news-and-help-welcome-to-my-patreon-page
Don't worry! I will still be posting some short pieces here on Tumblr (as well as some free pieces on my Patreon, plus longer posts on my website blog). However, the news updates and some other posts will be moving to Patreon permanently.
Please follow me there! https://www.patreon.com/CindyLouWho2
TOP NEWS & ARTICLESÂ
Etsy has banned gift certificates/cards sold by individual shops, as of Sept 15. Only Etsy Gift Cards are now allowed. The second quarter report press release says they plan on selling Etsy Gift Cards through third parties, but no official word on how and when yet.
Many Amazon Handmade sellers were unable to list new items after a site update on July 31 [post by me on LinkedIn]. While Amazon told sellers to apply for an exemption from the Product ID requirement, some report that is not working, or that they do not have the option to apply for one.Â
Reminder that Canadian Etsy shops will be charged a 1.15% Regulatory Operating fee on the item price and shipping cost as of August 15. [Iâve set a bunch of things to expire. If Etsy isnât profitable enough to pay its taxes, maybe they should consider cutting executive pay instead of squeezing microbusinesses even more.]
ETSY NEWSÂ
Etsy has updated its Privacy Policy, to take effect August 31. Changes include mention of biometric data. Note that some parts of the policy are screenshots, and therefore not easily searchable nor accessible to screen readers - I am not sure how they can get away with that. I used the Wayback Machine to do a comparison of the parts that software can actually read.  Thereâs also a new US regional privacy policy, which currently covers laws in several states. Â
Etsy is promoting a Labour Day sale August 21-September 2, and has already set up the "Cyber Savings Sale" (November 18-December 3) for Cyber Week. You can schedule the official sales through links in the announcement.
Forbes covered Etsyâs sex toy ban [soft paywall; not safe for work photos]. To no one's surprise, plenty of the banned items are still found on site, including toys and vintage Playboy magazines.Â
Etsy is accused of allowing shops based in âillegal Israeli settlements in the occupied Palestinian territoryâ and profiting off of them. Etsyâs response: "[W]e have shared this information internally with the appropriate teams for review."
Etsy's promised program for buyers - Etsy Insider - will be rolling out as invite-only beta in September. It's a paid membership for US buyers and includes:
Free US domestic shipping on millions of items
A birthday bonus
Limited edition annual gift, designed by an Etsy seller
First access to special discounts and select merchandise
While some of the "special discounts" are paid by sellers, that is a voluntary program shops can sign up for here. That form also allows you to sign up to offer new items to Etsy Insiders first - âdropsâ - which does not involve offering discounts. Etsy has done these sorts of "offers" in the past, and I believe they have already reached out to sellers for the first round of offers in September (based on some emails I have received from shop owners).
You can now sign up for âEtsy Upâ, the virtual sellers conference scheduled for September 10. However, despite saying they have announced âour agendaâ, all that is provided is a vague set of topics (other than the fact they will be announcing the Etsy Design Awards Finalists). It makes me wonder if there are official Etsy announcements coming soon that they donât want to reveal too early by posting the real agenda. If yes, around August 15 is a good bet, given that Etsyâs Search Analytics will end that day, and many new policies kick in on September 15, just one month later.
The Etsy app is showing rectangular listing images in search for some visitors, but it appears to be a test [Reddit thread with screenshot]. I wouldnât change anything at this time.Â
No, Etsy has not replaced your listing tags. I covered that topic here on LinkedIn.Â
I wrote about the new Listing Image Requirement policy and the email Etsy sent to some sellers on Monday July 29. [post by me on Patreon] And not everyone is being fooled by Etsyâs new Creativity Standards, but some acknowledge it will be difficult for Etsy to turn away factory-made goods at this point. [Disclosure: I am quoted in that article]
ECOMMERCE NEWS (minus social media)
Amazon
Amazonâs second quarter revenue was below expectations, and the company predicts nothing better in the third quarter.Â
In a surprising change, Amazon has decided to cancel overage fees for Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA) inventory storage, retroactive to July 1.Â
Canadian Amazon sellers will be subject to a new digital services fee as of October 1. This is due to Canadaâs new digital services tax.Â
In a case that may have an impact on other larger ecommerce sites, a court ruled that Amazon is responsible for recalls of products sold through Amazon, including through âFulfilled By Amazonâ.Â
US Amazon shoppers can now link their Pinterest and TikTok accounts to Amazon to be able to buy directly from Amazon ads on social media. This is already available on Facebook, Instagram and Snap.Â
Amazon is changing its refund policy for Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA) users: if sellers do not receive an automatic reimbursement for loss, damage and returns, they will now only have 60 days to apply for one. A lot of ecommerce experts think Amazon is making a mistake in setting up a China to US section on the site.
eBay
eBay second quarter revenue and profit was higher than expected, but the third quarter projections are low. Â
The eBay app has taken a lot of flack for inserting ads between each item in a purchase history.Â
Poshmark
As marketplaces popular for pre-owned items compete for the best new stock, Poshmark is offering ârewardsâ for listing at least 1 item a week.Â
Shopify
Shopify had a better-than-expected second quarter, and expects a decent third quarter as well. Getting larger businesses to use Shopify has helped the tech company, but I still wonder how that affects the small and micro businesses who used to be the target market.
Walmart
The Walmart Marketplace has added Chile as its fourth country, after the US, Canada and Mexico.Â
All Other Marketplaces
Hundreds of business owners who sell on Temu held a protest at the marketplace headquarters on July 29. Fines for returns are one cited issue.Â
Payment Processing
Credit cards issued by Chase in the US will no longer allow third-party buy-now-pay-later purchases, as of October 10. Conveniently, they offer their own option, Chase Pay Over Time. PayPal has expanded the quicker checkout solution Fastlane to all US businesses, which fills in customer information without a log in.

HS Journalism: District Blocking Sites (News)
Note: Some things have to be censored to post it here. If you see a lot of dashes, that is why
Morality. Safety. Student engagement in classes. Some legitimate reasons for blocking websites at schools do exist. However, monetary gain for the school district is behind some censorship that affects both students and teachersâdespite educational use of the internet.
School districts and public libraries across the nation have been blocking sites for 22 years. According to the American Association of School Librarians, 98% of the nationâs school districts and public libraries filter the online content that is available to minors. But why? And is blocking sites occurring in truly beneficial ways?
Background
To create a safe environment for students while keeping them focused and off inappropriate sites, Congress passed the Childrenâs Internet Protection Act on Dec. 15, 2000, and it went into effect on April 20, 2001. CIPA requires that public libraries and certain school districts that have students from kindergarten to twelfth grade use internet filters and other measures to protect students from harmful and obscene content in order to obtain certain federal funding.
The Supreme Court has stated that libraries can unblock the filters for adults who request them. The decision was seen as a major defeat for all libraries in the U.S. and for those who had to use the library internet due to no access at home. The ruling also led to concerns about how CIPA would work in schools and the censorship in that setting.
The Debate
The CIPA law sparked debate over censorship in schools, and with the recent rise of book banning in schools, people have returned to this debate. Two sides emerged with various viewpoints on CIPA and blocking sites. One side agrees to the blocking of sites and wants to enforce more restrictions, and another side opposes district blocking sites and has its various solutions to the conflict. Both sides agree that certain sites with sexual content should be blocked, but that is where the agreement stops.
From opposing broad filters and blocking social media sites to wanting realistic barriers that allow children to form their own ideas, even those who oppose blocking sites donât agree on solutions to what might be considered âinappropriateâ content. The opposing side wants to make educational institutions responsible for online content available to students with more responsibility for decisions being left up to the older students.
âStudents already know how to get around the firewall by using their phones as hotspots or going to gaming websites that our filter doesnât catch,â one teacher said.
Students also bypass the firewall by using virtual private networks or VPNs. The gaming sites that filters donât catch are typically built using Google Sites, Weebly, or even LinkedIn. Games can be found on Scratch that students can access during class. While the district tries to solve these issues, some in this debate demand parents block sites on their childrenâs personal devices.
This debate is mainly between parents wanting to protect children versus experiences that occur in the classroom with students and teachers dealing with the frustrating situations caused by their school districtâs filters.
In the Classroom
While all districts follow CIPA, each district has its policies which can cause interruption in the classroom. A teacher may have a legitimate assignment ruined by a site being blocked.
The survey and poll sent out to all teachers at Nation Ford showed that of 24 teachers, 17 said they had a legitimate site blockedâeither their own sites or another site they were using for educational purposes related to course content. Seven teachers had YouTube blocked for class use or assignments. Three teachers had their websites blocked, which held important information for students and parents.
âMy own educational website, which I created for my students that I use with instruction was blocked for a year before I finally got access to it at school again,â a teacher said. âI couldnât send students to the website for enrichment or anything.â
Of course, some blocked websites are needed. One teacher stated that Pinterest was blocked from students who were using it to look at marketing research. Another talked about Adobe Creative Cloudâs AI features being blocked from students, which would have enhanced creativity in the classroom. Most teachers stated they were frustrated with their experience, some mentioning that due to a helpful site with resources being blocked, they were required to work at home.
Despite these experiences, most teachers agreed that some websites needed to be blocked.
âI like the intention, but it causes some unnecessary issues for students and teachers,â one teacher said.
Another teacher said, âI think our system is behind the times. Teachers should be able to approve certain websites for class use on an individual basis.â
The reasoning behind --SDâs blocking of sites is not well understood.
âIn some cases, that [blocking sites] is necessary for studentsâ health and safety,â another teacher said. âIâd be interested to know how the district is deciding these matters, however, because there are times legitimate and educational sites are blocked, which is frustrating.â
The District Policy
The district policy is mentioned in the IJNDB âUse of Technology Resources by Students,â and according to the document, the district is to provide students with access to electronic and technological resources to help them in school. The district has the right to monitor studentsâ online activities and restrict access to certain websites they deem inappropriate for academic purposes. The --SD system is not perfect, but it is truly impossible to monitor every student and block all the correct sites. The document also states that anyone using the district network, a district-owned device, or holding a district account should not expect privacy given for anything downloaded, transmitted, or received as the district has access to view that information and search account history. The district also notes that they have the right to change their policy at any given time.
--SDâs Chief Communications Officer, ---- Burke, understands the main issue in this debate.
âIn general, if a site is blocked and has educational value to a class, the teacher can work with their administration and the IT Department at the District Office to request the site be unblocked,â Burke said. âThe district administration will make the determination depending on the siteâs content and compliance with policy IJNDB.â
The district has the final say on whether a site will be unblocked based on the content and what they see as educational value to the class. In classes such as Digital Art & Design or Marketing, the district administration could fail to understand the educational value a site could provide. A year is a long time to wait, teachers say.
Possible Solution
Teachers say they can already see studentsâ screens with such sites as Netop Vision. While this gives the teacher a lot of control over electronic use, it could ensure students stay on task. Teachers say they know what their class needs. This way, the district can continue broad filtering sites while giving teachers control in the classroom.

Hey guys I'm still riled up from the previous post so here's a second part. You know what you also don't need to be a Real Writer! Online book editing and marketing from accounts of Tumblr! Especially ones that are very clearly scams like this!
This one is particularly obvious by just one look at the profile, but others are more covert. They aren't all scams, but even if you have the financial resources to afford this type of thing keep some stuff in mind:
- as far as I can tell through a quick search, there aren't really companies that do editing AND marketing like this scammer claims to do in their name. Editing and marketing are at separate ends of the publishing timeline and are usually specialized by two separate agencies if you choose to use them.
- from a marketing perspective, as someone who has worked professionally in a marketing setting, I would be VERY WARY of a marketer/social media manager who only has presence on Tumblr. If they can't provide previous analytics and proof that they can grow following across multiple accounts and actually bring a diverse set of ideas then they're just a dude who wants to post your posts for money.
- reaaaalllly shop around for editors. Consider genre focus and what you want from this degree of guideence. Be direct. Research what they can do. It's a lot more than typos and sentence structure.
- prove that they're a real human being. I support supporting smaller businesses but if they hesitate to prove legitimacy through at least a website/LinkedIn/multiple profiles/real references, then they aren't working for their own favor.
- people scam new artists all the time and it's not mean to be careful.
- you can do a lot of this on your own if you're aiming for self-publishing, and if you get a publishing deal through a trad or indie house they will also be there to help.
This guy sucks. Be safe and careful, colleagues.

Medicines for the 21st Century: Safe, Better, Cheaper
On May 8th, 2019, my company, PharmaFlow (just me) hosted a Conference at Techniquest, Cardiff Bay, titled Medicines for the 21st Century: Safe, Better, Cheaper (see 3 minute video above).
Its aim was to curate the views of stakeholders in the pharmaceutical industry in relation to safety, efficacy, and affordability of medicines. It comprised three panel sessions to discuss the various issues, and come up with suggestions on how things could be radically improved.
From all the inputs, I compiled a white paper, which was sent to the then Chair of the UK House of Commons Health and Social Care Committee, the Rt. Hon. Jeremy Hunt, MP.
Receipt of the paper was acknowledged by both the Chair and the Secretariat, albeit Iâve not heard anything since.
Little did I know at the time what was about to break the following year!
Wise words from Ray Perkins PhD
It was fortunate that Dr Perkins was able to travel from Kentucky to join us on the day of the conference, to share with us his deep understanding of the history and science of medicines discovery and development. Dr Perkins is an acknowledged world expert and kindly provided an account of how and where the system is in need of repair at the Conference.
I knew Dr Perkins to be a brilliant scientist from our discussions on LinkedIn over many years previous to COVID. What I had not realised was the scale and scope of his insights in relation to the world of medicine. Dr Perkins joined our panel, contributed from the floor, and best of all, he spoke to our headline video recording (see 3 minute video above).
He summed up his thoughts with the words âIâm just here pointing out the problems, put forward as a backdrop for any solutions that may come forward.â

NASAâs Quesst mission has postponed the inaugural flight of its X-59 quiet supersonic aircraft to 2024. The X-59, an extraordinary experimental aircraft, has posed intricate engineering challenges for NASA researchers collaborating with the primary contractor, Lockheed Martin Skunk Works. Apart from its unique design, the X-59 incorporates innovative technology and components from various established aircraft, including its landing gear from an F-16 and its life-support system adapted from an F-15.
Additional time is required to integrate systems into the aircraft
Given the complexities involved in developing this exceptional aircraft, the Quesst team is diligently addressing several technical issues identified during the course of 2023, when the X-59 was initially slated for its maiden flight. Additional time is required to seamlessly integrate systems into the aircraft and ensure their proper functioning. The team is also resolving intermittent problems with some of the safety-redundant computers that oversee the aircraftâs systems.
Over the past year, Quesst has made consistent progress towards flight readiness. The team completed the finishing touches on the X-59âs tail structure, allowing them to finalize its electrical wiring and advance to critical ground tests. They also moved the aircraft from its assembly facility to the flight line for structural testing.
The X-59âs primary objective is to demonstrate the capability to achieve supersonic flight, exceeding the speed of sound, while minimizing the typical disruptive sonic boom to a subdued sonic thump. NASA intends to conduct flights over several communities to collect data on how people perceive the noise it generates. This data will be provided to U.S. and international regulators to potentially revise regulations that currently prohibit commercial supersonic flight over land.
Lockheed Martin X-59 finally unveiled in hangar rollout
youtube
Fully committed to a meticulous review and testing process
NASA places paramount importance on safety and mission success. For Quesst, this entails ensuring the X-59âs safety before it takes flight and ensuring its long-term reliability during the community test phase. The aircraft is currently undergoing comprehensive integrated testing, which must be successfully completed prior to its inaugural flight. Following this stage, the aircraft will proceed to a flight readiness review, during which NASA will unveil a more specific timeline for the first flight.
Quesst represents a mission with the potential to transform commercial aviation travel by significantly reducing travel times. Safely and reliably deploying the X-59 is crucial for NASA to realize the benefits of this mission. The agency is fully committed to a meticulous review and testing process to ensure the missionâs success.

Best advice for being assertive and feminine,in an academic space?
Set clear boundaries and goals! Know what you will tolerate and what you wonât tolerate. Donât be afraid to speak up and use your voice in situations that donât serve you well in an academic space. This goes for classmates and teachers that may treat you with disrespect.
Focus on yourself and getting your education. Relationships and friendships will come later once you are established and have a good routine.
Speaking of routines. Build one! Get a planner, stay organized and set up study sessions.
Take good care of yourself. Focus on your mental state and physical state. Donât be afraid to rest when needed! Workout, eat well, sleep, take care of your skin, hair and nails. Youâll be amazed at how much you can accomplish when you feel good.
Dress for success! Keep your clothes clean and neatly pressed. Whatever you chose to study in school dress how you would if you were in a career of your choice. You can still be cute and comfy while on campus!
Stay motivated and disciplined. Remember why youâre here and where you want to be when youâre finally finished with your studies. Set up study sessions with others and donât be shy to ask your teachers for help.
Have hobbies outside of school. Go on walks, paint, join a club, learn a new language or how to play an instrument.
Expand yourself and network. Itâs never too early to build a profile on LinkedIn if you have a profession in mind! Get some internships and see how you like certain career paths!
Invest in your studies. Stationary, tutors and technology can help you stay focused on your academic goals.
Stay safe and have fun. This especially goes for my college/university followers! Buy yourself some protection and take self protection courses!

Day 53: Your day, in great detail
Today I woke up and started thinking about how that job hasn't emailed me back yet, even though they said they were gonna. I hated thinking about that, so I started thinking about mine and the Mailman's characters. I sat down at my computer and wrote a follow-up email to the hiring manager. After that I logged onto work (still thinking about Professor Glenn MaClanahan, Trina Dolton, and their ~*~forbidden romance.~*~) My boyfriend calls to wish me a good morning, like he does every morning, and we talk for a little bit while he delivers the mail. I vent about the job, and he tells me to try not to worry about it until the end of the week, which was good advice. Instead, we start doing some (safe for work and very cool) narrative crafting. We tell each other we love each other about 15 times (lowballing it.)
I have my meeting with another department lead, and we talk about rating photography and illustration portfolios that have come through for us to market. I have a nice time speaking with her and I think about how it's going to be sad to leave. Simultaneously, messages in the Executive chat spell a not-so-positive company outlook. I quickly overcome the sadness about potentially leaving.
After more (very important narrative crafting) on my break, I call my boyfriend and talk to him about how thankful I am for his presence in my life, and that he's made a very stressful week way less stressful. We find about 15 different ways call each other hot (lowballing it, honestly.)
I obsessively check my email and LinkedIn, over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over, but the email never comes. I throw myself into the world of East Texas University for some more (completely necessary character building.) I think about how nobody will ever compare to the way my Mailman DM's that game.
Work ends. I text a few friends and wonder if I'm still seeing a movie with one of them tonight. It is unceremoniously cancelled.
It's raining hard. My boyfriend calls me to come over instead of sitting in my room being anxious and sad about the job. I drive over, thinking about how it might be raining this hard the first time Trina Dolton shows up at GlenMac's door in the middle of the night (for fear that he may be in grave danger!)
I come over and he makes me a chicken sandwich on texas toast. I kiss that boy!! We run some character improv exercises and talk about the campaign a bit. We cuddle on the couch and he puts on a Western movie, A Fistful of Dollars. It kind of goes over my head a bit but I love hearing him talk about movies and he let me watch Zac Efron's 17 Again yesterday, so. That's love.
After the movie ends I start talking about the job again. "I can't believe a human would do that to another human! Promise an interview and then not follow up!"
"What was the exact wording of the last email he sent?"
"It said," I started, refreshing my inbox, "thatâ"
One new message!
An apology that it had taken a few days to get back to me, and that the second interview will be this Friday. I'm dumbfounded. Who sends an email at 10 o'clock at night!!
My boyfriend makes fun of me for worrying. I smile, I kiss him, and after a little bit, I head home to start writing this.

they made aac in minecraft! this is very cool, there should be as many communication tools and accessibility options as possible.
[Img ID: Screenshot of a post on LinkedIn that says, "Today on Autcraft, I am introducing the AAC plugin, which stands for Augmentative and Alternative Communication. Autcraft is a Minecraft server for autistic people and their families, with two primary points of focus: safety and accessibility. Sometimes our players are very young, sometimes they are just learning English, sometimes they have a disability which makes working a keyboard an obstacle, and sometimes, they simply lack the spoons required to find the words they need despite wanting to be somewhat social with friends. The AAC is a very simple, custom made tool in game on the Autcraft server. A player can click either mouse button while the tool is in their hand, which opens the GUI, then they simply select the icon with what they wish to communicate and it'll put it into the chat conversation for them. This plugin has been in use with some of our players who use an AAC of their own in real life to help them communicate. They've been instrumental in making sure that it works just how they need it to, and they've been using it quite consistently ever since. We're still in somewhat of a testing phase within our own community but once we're sure it works smoothly, we intend to release the AAC plugin for all servers in all languages to use as it is 100% customizable within a configuration file from the names, lore, icons, output, and more. Just being a safe place for autistic people to play isn't enough if they don't have the tools to use it effectively." Followed by a screenshot showing how the AAC tool works. When you hover over a resource, a text box appears with a communication prompt.]

hey bratty, love your blog! i was wondering if you could give tips on how to sugar safely (if you have any ofc). i posted an ad to fet and got some responses but ughhh that siteâs sketchy.
Fet has gotten so worst over the years. Use to be great when I first started doing kink stuff.
- boundaries need to be set early and you need to stand firm on them. People will only get away with what you allow.
- consistency needs to be on both sides. You okay your role consistently and they play there.
- itâs no clear way to vetting people. So listen to your gut. Iâve never meet a man online for a sugar agreement, but when I meet men, I run thru all theh socials, including LinkedIn.
- this is my personal opinion and itâs not really a safety tip. But you canât judge a book by its cover. Donald doesnât dress or act like he got money. Ted doesnât dress or look like he got money. But both men are generous. TG dressed like a rich person but he had less money than both of them. My point is just cuz someone looks like they got money donât mean they do. And it especially donât mean theyâll spend it.
- first couple dates should always be public. Mr. No Name can not come over to my house to chill and I wonât be going to his. If he wants to see me, it will be a public outting.
- I donât follow this rule but I feel like all women should. But you should def have a safety call. I do keep updated records on my men, but you would have to tear up my apartment to find that notebook. It got names, addresses, license plates numbers, some bank info act.
Overall just remember nobody cares for you, like you do. Trust your gut, get out of it doesnât feel right, never let anyone talk you out of a boundary.
