old age/aging headcanon

Well first of all there'd have to be a universe in which he does grow old. I'm sure it exists but there isn't many.

Now if there IS, he'd be the LEAST gracefully aging guy. I'm talking plucking all his gray hairs out in the mirror before he goes anywhere, crying himself to sleep at the first suggestion of crow's feet and working out extensively even if his spying-aged joints don't agree anymore.

He wouldn't have much to do, being retired and lonely would drive him up the walls more often than not. He'd have more freedom than any other time in his life, and he wouldn't be great with it. He'd make dumb purchases and stupid decisions, he'd often wake up not remembering the night before, and when he'd do he'd regret it.

As his chronic pain from all his spying injuries get worse, he'd try his best to power through it or self-medicate with alcohol. Neither work.

He'd keep seeing Owen out and about, even though he knows it's impossible. He'd see him in his dreams, falling, laughing, torturing him, dancing etc. In his worst moments he'd talk to him.

In the end either the alcoholism or old age catch up to him. His funeral wouldn't be attended by many.

As I said, I don't see a possibility where after he kills Owen he moves on with his life and grows old happily. He probably dies bleeding out alone and resentful in some Chimera facility before he even hits 40. But even if he'd live, his life wouldn't be a happy one. <- saying this, I'm reading back all I wrote and GOD that's grim. even for me.

hehe im glad you noticed! I ship them for sure, I mean they just get each other so well (although I wish Jane was a bit nicer to Maura sometimes) and also the show makes me insane bc im only 3 seasons in and they’ve pretended to be lesbians, what is it, four times now? And like Casey is fine or whatever but i honestly don’t get what Jane sees in him. whereas Jane and Maura’s easy connection is just so clear. also i swear it seems like Hoyt ships them or something bc every time he wanted to talk to Jane about anything he was like “oh and Dr. Isles can stay too” which was really funny to me. But i think it’s maybe a consequence of having two women in the lead roles for this kind of show, which is very interesting actually. anyway they basically already act like they’re married and practically live together lol

theatre question: favorite spies are forever scene and why? GO

(I understand it’s hard to pick just one, you can also give one that you just really like. ex: I’m a big fan of everything about the Doing This scene!!)

It’s basic but my favorite is the staircase scene. Just a warning, I have a lot to say for the why, so buckle in.

I’m a sucker for curtwen scenes in general (and deeply biased towards them lol) but the scene to me makes the show what it is. It adds, or rather shows another layer of a deeply complex and multifaceted show. Beyond the text of the scene (which I have much to say about), it subtextually addresses the relationship between government, privacy/security, and new technology which is incredibly prevalent to the Cold War (fun fact about me I’m a little obsessed with the Cold War so this is particularly important to me) and also to modern times with the rapid and kind of terrifying advancement of AI. It also highlights the queer historical context in a really subtle and beautiful way. I could say way more about the subtext of the scene but I’m gonna move on cuz there’s a lot of ground to cover. In terms of text, it perfectly encapsulates curtwens relationship, dynamic and development at that point of their arc. The development both characters have is incredibly interesting to me. Curt goes from determined but terrified, to desperately pleading and searching for any way to fix things, to complete heartbreak and devastation, to stoic determination, to numbness. Owen goes from classic cool villain to heartbroken and furious to gloating and melancholy to stubborn and bitter and so deeply unhappy to terrified and confused. The sort of role reversal they have at the end of the scene makes me insane. Curt who’s lost the man he loves lost his job lost his sense of identity and near lost his mind is forced to confront Owen who’s no longer the man he loves and forced to confront that things can never go back and that the only way to move forward is on. That means a lot to me on a personal level and it’s a beautiful arc. Owen is a very interesting character and his emotional inconsistencies in the scene make me ponder. What made him react THIS badly, why is he willing as a queer man to reveal everyone’s secrets in a time where queer people were in great danger? Saf is so well written gahhh!!! Also the acting in the staircase scene is ridiculously good. There’s so many little choices that make me insane Theres to msny to talk about in detail and others have plenty, but I think about Owen shifting his gun from curts head to his chest and back every single second of every day. The staging and lighting is also fantastic. Owen being literal steps above Curt, showing he’s in power in the situation? Marvelous. The lighting being blue and red to reflect the red and blue motif surrounding curtwen? Incredible. Curt moving up the steps as a sign hes gaining power? Fucking sick as hell!! I love Corey lubowich’s direction, can you tell? Also the FUCKING piano.

Man I’m not great at articulating my thoughts fully/properly but I really really love the staircase scene.

Rizz you’re getting Favorite Liar by the Wrecks because you seem like the kind of person who isn't afraid to call someone out when they're in the wrong, even if you care about them a lot. Like, the tone and vibe of the song also remind me of you but the actual lyrics too and I think it's because of the "I don’t like the kind of person you’re being right now and I love you enough to tell you that" aspect of it.

I also acknowledge that this is not at all what this song is about but this entire ask game has always been about vibes and vibes alone

🦾 A disability headcanon

Well there's quite a few, mostly post-fall

I think the major ones is that he has a permanent limp after, his left leg being the weaker one (even though they both hurt) and that he has burns on quite a lot of his body.

I try to make my hcs work with what he does in the show, mainly that he can still fight and run, but I personally attribute that to Chimera's inventions. When Owen said they have a little bit of everything and seeing them pioneer new technologies I got the idea they may also be doing something similar with medical techniques and equipment.

I think the fall and the explosion damaged him severely enough that, without these modern technologies he would be in a lot more pain and be able to do a lot less things. But I can also imagine this essentially makes him an experimental guinea pig to the doctors working at Chimera (Who, due to Owen being Owen and never opening up or dealing with his problems are the only ones who know the extent of his condition)

I think out of all the things he suffered through, the thing that bothers him the most during his new missions, besides the chronic pain is the hearing loss. I think he hates having one of his most important senses weakened, because at least his lessened ability to fight is compensated by being a good shooter.

I think because the burns would've constricted him too much he's also been through quite a bit of skin grafting, but all parts have never been grafted because it's too much surface area to take from other places on his body, and mostly they just wanted to improve his mobility and get his back to work as fast as possible.

Since he's such a proud and independent person I think his dignity suffered a lot having to be taken care of so much. He's been injured in the field before, but nothing that would make him completely rely on other people for an extended amount of time. I think due to his grief and anger he often set back his own progress by wanting to go so fast. Those instances reminded him of Curt a lot and just made him angrier.

Overall I think his mental strain was just as great as his physical, and that made him throw himself right back into work and ignore his issues and neglect caring for himself, especially because he needed it then more than ever. yeahhh i could ramble on for a lot more but I won't. But now I really wanna draw post-fall Owen!!!

of course i ship them :) they have such lovely chemistry and are both smart and capable women who complement each other in very nice ways. im a big fan of the fact that H.G. is willing to save the world for Myka and Myka is willing to destroy hers (the Warehouse) for H.G. is such a compelling dynamic. and like, H.G.‘s sort of moral greyness vs. Myka’s very strong moral uprightness/adhering to the rules. i think there’s a lot that they learn from each other, and when they team up, they make each other better :)

21. Not at all actually! I grew up in a catholic household that then became christian, but I actually never believed in any of them? Maybe because of the autism I just saw all the praying and stuff the same way I saw social cues? I haven’t!

I honestly think it’s a bit of both. I think that he initially chose to, regretted it, and when chimera saw him second guessing they pulled shady ass brainwashing shit to get him fully 100% in it.
