the war had been devastating, great casualties taken on both sides. fae around the various courts waited with baited breath to see dark wings on the horizon, either carrying words of hope or damnation. scuffs had worn into the wood where margaery had paced relentlessly awaiting news of erwin's fate.

whether through the spring courts far proximity or their scorned name, word had still not come. margaery's patience had worn thin the moment he had left, the waiting now unbearable. before she could think better of it, margaery traveled to the night courts infirmary herself, needing to find answers regarding her mate's fate.

she raced through the infirmary upon confirmation of his presence, only to stop abruptly before his bed. a hand covers her mouth in a gasp, tears welling in her eyes at the sight of him. alive. she rushes to him, all but falling into his embrace and unable to hold back the emotions she had kept locked away while he'd been away.

"hey! look at me! i'm fine... see?"

he whispers in her ear, his hand stroking the back of her hair. his only remaining hand. but she didn't care about that; because he was alive. but instead of reassurance, his words only seem to make the tears flow freer, arms clinging around his neck so that he doesn't disappear, as if this is somehow all a cruel nightmare and he hadn't survived the war at all.

❛ i thought . . . . i thought you were dead. ❜ she whispers against his skin, finally voicing this terrible thought that had been following her, one that she had refused to fully consider. because he couldn't have been dead. he couldn't leave her. she simply wouldn't have allowed it.

Jon and Martin as a couple actually mean the world to me. As an ace person, I hardly ever get to see media that represents asexuality in a way that feels realistic to my experience. Romance is important to me, but it’s always tied in with sex as if they are inseparable. Most ace characters are aroace, and I have literally never come across an ace character in a romantic relationship until Jon and Martin. I think that’s part of the reason they’ve taken over my brain so much in a way no other ship I’ve come across has so intensely. On top of the fact that I love their characters and the TMA universe as a concept like they have lowkey changed my life.

Sobbing uncontrollably reading through a dissertation about the college experience of students with ADHD. It is like reading a report about my life that just says over and over "My experiences are real. My hardships are real. I am not lazy, I am not dumb. My struggles were not my fault, and they were not a moral failing. The failure was with the system, not with me."

Here's a line that got me in particular:

"Hotez et al.(2022) compared the health, academic, and non-academic capacities of a nationally representative sample of U.S. first-year college students with ADHD and without ADHD. Students with ADHD self-reported lower academic aspirations and more feelings of depression and overwhelm, ranking themselves lower in their general emotional health. The fact that students with ADHD scored in the highest 10th percentile for many non-academic traits, such as artistic ability, computer skills, creativity, public speaking, social confidence, self-understanding and understanding of others, compassion, and risk-tasking, suggests that this population has strengths that are frequently underappreciated in academia."

(the paper is a thesis called "Understanding the Collegiate Experience for Students With ADHD" by Gia Long, 2022)
