AA: what d0 y0u think y0ure d0ing! AA: just st0p AA: st0p st0p st0p st0p st0p st0p AA: maybe if i say st0p en0ugh s0mething else will happen instead 0f the thing that d0es
Aradia has had enough of the Alpha Tmeline.
No matter how stoic she may appear, there's a part of her that can't stand to see her friends suffer - and that part of her is finally gaining ground against the mental conditioning of the Voices.
She doesn't want this, and all her posturing about how it's pointless to fight the inevitable tide of fate is revealed as the coping mechanism it always was. This is wrong, she knows it's wrong, and even if it's pointless, she has to at least try to help.
AA: i kn0w its exciting AA: breaking stuff AA: and n0t w0rrying ab0ut it
You know, I'm starting to understand why this fatalism was so intoxicating to Aradia. The Alpha offers her freedom from consequences, allowing her to act on her impulses without worrying about the fallout.
After all, if something is supposed to break, then it's pretty much already broken.
And who can blame you for breaking something that's already broken?
They'd probably break it too, given half a chance.
TT: You sound frustrated. TT: Like you know you can't change my mind. TT: I presume your future footage of me has already verified this? AA: i d0nt even need t0 watch y0ur future acti0ns t0 kn0w this AA: the kn0wing is the same as this elusive feeling 0f sickness thats been with me f0r years AA: pr0bably since bef0re i died c0me t0 think 0f it AA: it was always a big setup
She's really woken up, hasn't she? Most of the damage is already done, but it's just so gratifying to hear Aradia finally catching on, in real time.
Especially since the first thing she's choosing to do, after climbing out of the hole she's in, is extend a hand down to Rose.
AA: i just wish AA: back when i was behaving recklessly AA: i had s0me0ne t0 tell me t0 st0p listening
Damn it, this is so frustrating.
Rose doesn't understand what it means that Aradia is saying these things. This girl is fighting back literal years of depression, apathy and mental conditioning to try and help Rose see another way, but she's getting treated like just another run-of-the-mill troll. Listen, Rose!

"SKYLAB IV - INFLIGHT
This view of the Skylab 4 Command/Service Module in a docked configuration is a frame from a roll of movie film exposed by a 16mm Maurer camera. The other four components of the Skylab space station in Earth orbit are out of view to the right. This picture was taken by astronaut Gerald P. Carr, Skylab 4 commander, during the final Skylab extravehicular activity (EVA) which took place on Feb. 3, 1974. The crew members -- Gerald Carr, Edward Gibson and William Pogue -- were the first NASA astronauts to spend New Year's in space. A week earlier, they became the first crew to perform an EVA on Christmas day."

50 years ago… official ASTP NASA crew photos In January 1974 NASA released official crew photos of the astronauts for the upcoming Apollo Soyuz Test Project (ASTP) mission. These three NASA astronauts are the American flight crew for the 1975 ASTP mission. The prime crewmen for the joint U.S.-Soviet Union space flight are, left to right, Donald K. Slayton, docking module pilot; Vance D. Brand, command module pilot; and Thomas P. Stafford, commander. The crew was announced on January 30, 1973. The backup crew were Alan Bean, Ronald Evans and Jack Lousma. Posing in their white space suits with a scale model of the Apollo-Soyuz capsules in docking mode in front of them. Note both Deke Slayton and Tom Stafford wore their Gold “Apollo 11 tribute” Omega Speedmaster chronographs, respectively numbers 27 & 13, awarded in November 1969. (Photo: NASA S74-15241)

THE DEAD TELL NO JOKES
Love is a disease that can be cured with gunpowder
We will cut the last roses from the garden of fury
Hanussen giving a séance at his Palace of the Occult on the night of February 26, 1933. From: Bruno Frei's Hanussen, ein Bericht. Strasbourg : Sebastian Brant-Verlag, 1934. LBI Library, BF 1408 S74 F7
Erik Jan Hanussen or Erich Hanussen (Vienna, June 2, 1889 - Berlin, March 25, 1933), originally born as Harschel Steinschneider, was a well-known mentalist of Austro-Jewish origin, being acclaimed as a great hypnotist, occultist and astrologer. during the time of the Weimar Republic and the beginning of Nazism. He became one of Hitler's favorite astrologers.
Hanussen was murdered on the night of March 24-25, 1933, probably by a group of SA men, and his body was left in a field near Stahnsdorf, a town near Berlin.

Aw, there she is. All tuckered out. You wonder what she is dreaming about?
I've wondered before if Dream Selves might cause neurological issues for the Players. After all, if your brain is operating an entire secondary body while it's sleeping, how much actual rest is it getting?
On the other hand, Sburb Players are created by the game, and the game can make any changes it likes. A Player's brain chemistry might be different enough from a baseline human that the issue simply doesn't arise.
Unfortunately for Jade, her dreams are even less restful than they used to be - and I don't know if the game prepared them for this eventuality.
Anyway, guess it's time to get down to business and save her life! You prepare to initiate an uninterrupted sequence of life-saving events.
This, of course, is Authorspeak for: Shit's about to go so pear-shaped you'll think you're in the Fruity Rumpus Factory.
NANNASPRITE: John, you remind me so much of your father when he was your age. [...] JOHN: but nanna, did you know he is not really my dad? and also, i am not technically your grandson. JOHN: you are actually sort of my mother. NANNASPRITE: Of course I knew this, John! I have known for many years. NANNASPRITE: I have also known that in a sense, you are my father as well. You were the one to push all those buttons, after all!
Wait, that doesn't track at all.
The joke book that came down with John contained some information about Sburb, but it didn't say anything about the ectobiology. Plus, Nanna didn't even get to read the thing, since, well..
...she only coexisted with it for about half a second.
Did Grandpa clue her in, then? He does seem to inexplicably know everything - but I thought he and Nanna were estranged. Maybe they reconciled later on?
...wait, but then why didn't Dad know anything? He's been bemused by Sburb since the very beginning - and he was always destined to be involved, so I don't know why Nanna would hide it from him.
Man, I don't even know anymore. Guardians are so weird.
JOHN: so where have you been, nanna? i have been looking all over for you. NANNASPRITE: I have been looking for you too, dear! [...] NANNASPRITE: [...] It seems you have been rising through the rungs of your echeladder quite swiftly. [...] NANNASPRITE: [...] You have climbed so much faster than I did in my youth. I am so proud of you!
Son of a fuck.
A long time ago, I theorized that the Underling heads in Harley Mansion's foyer were evidence that Grandpa had participated in a Sburb session himself.
In a post-Hivebent world, we can see that theory is riddled with holes. Just for fun, let's poke a few.
If Grandpa was a Sburb Player, where and when did his Reckoning occur?
If he didn't have one - or if he lost the game some other way - how did he avoid dying in a null session?
If he won the game, why was he still around to raise Jade? Where is his universe?
Most obviously of all, how could he exist as a Player, when he was created for John's session as a Guardian?
Based on our current understanding of the lore, and that last point in particular, this theory is a complete non-starter. It makes no sense for a Guardian to have participated in a separate session to the kids.
So, given all of that, I hope you understand the full breadth of my confusion when I ask:
How the fuck did Nanna gain Sburb levels?
#homestuck liveblog#full liveblog#act 5.2#s74#2793#plus we now know he got the heads from john's session but we don't even need to point that out kill the theory

"The Apollo Command Module (CSM-111) for the Apollo-Soyuz Test Project mission goes through receiving, inspection and checkout procedures in the Manned Spacecraft Operations Building at the Kennedy Space Center. The spacecraft had just arrived by air from the Rockwell International plant at Downey, California." This Apollo capsule was originally intended for Apollo 15 before its mission, the last H-type mission, was cancelled and the first J-type mission (Apollo 16) was redesignated Apollo 15. CSM-111 was placed into storage until it was decided to use it for the Apollo-Soyuz Test Project.

50 years ago… official ASTP NASA crew photos
In January 1974 NASA released official crew & portrait photos of the astronauts for the upcoming Apollo Soyuz Test Project (ASTP) mission.
This white space suit (WSS) portrait of Donald “Deke” Slayton shows him as docking module pilot for the 1975 mission. Slayton was one of the original “Mercury 7” astronauts but grounded for a heart problem but NASA had returned him to active flight status in March 1972.
Note his Gold “Apollo 11 tribute” Omega Speedmaster chronograph n° 27, which had the bezel missing and a foldable “Timely” calendar for January 1974 around the bracelet.
