The Stag Prince is a fandom classic. It’s south park’s stick of truth meets swan princess. I’m usually adverse to aus, but this was so true to the source material in terms of dialogue and tone that I couldn’t help but fall in love. It’s incredibly funny, all the characters get their moment to shine, it’s a really well crafted story overall.

Put The Fire Out on Us is another fandom classic, still being written! who knew the push Kyle and Cartman needed was them getting stranded in the woods together, eh??

Slam Dunk is kyman being insufferable boyfriends. Kenny and Stan are there (silently fighting for their lives).

I. LOVE Hands . Tt’s rare that I find a canon aged kyman fic that manages to capture the complexities of their dynamic. As friends, as rivals, as…. “something”.

Leonard Cohen, Bruh : Fixit fics for Post Covid are in criminally short supply. Rainbow_convection fuckin delivers!

Hypothermia Love fics where Cartman’s obsession over their rivalry shines. A good demonstration of what ppl mean when they say the difference between love and hate is a fine line.

get up, get up, (wake up, wake up) I adore numbknees’ writing, and it’s an absolute honor this was inspired by my silly kyman rants about Cartman’s sa trauma that affects how he canonically views sex and love. I assure you, I’ve read it a normal amount.

Creep is not an absolute fav, but I really like stan’s characterization in this fic, especially when the author goes into detail about how he processes his thoughts and his aversion to change. (I know, weird thing to love in a kyman centric fic). I also love the exchange between kyman halfway thru the story.

Know Your Enemy : Be not afraid of the tags! Remember that South Park itself has done far more crude, and inappropriate things. It’s incredibly vulgar, with so much heart. Just like South Park itself. What I love most about the fic is how elsen is able to put Cartman’s delusions and twisted logic into words, and for Kyle, his rigidity and tendency to justify every single thing he does into words. Both are unreliable narrators, but the reader is able to see through their bullshit all the same. What a gift of a fic. I can’t wait to see where it goes.

Kyle is a B : The world doesn’t have enough Married Kyman Shenanigans! And what a shame. This fic also stays true to the craziness of the show (the fact the the underpants gnomes are referenced, just 🤌🏼 that’s an instant win in my book) You can definitely tell they’ve been married for over 10 years in this fic. so so good.

The Rules focuses more on their mutual obsession, the hopelessly-intertwined-for-better-or-worse aspects of their dynamic.

Green Eyed is playful jab at the skinny cartman trope, and how Kyle would react to a skinny cartman.

Vice Versa approaches the switched bodies trope earnestly and so beautifully and gets kyman to understand each other better and also reflect on themselves. Delicious character deep dive. Also, it’s damn hilarious.

Jew Magic Saves the Day Takes place right after the scene in s7 where Cartman wakes up next to a naked Ben Affleck. Can you tell I love fics where Kyle makes Cartman feel safe ghfjkdh

Seriously : Protective boyfriend Kyle my beloved.

Ashtray : I am absolutely WEAK for the religious themes in Kyman works. The paragraph detailing Cartman’s revelation is something that sticks with me to this day. I get chills.

How To Live a Lie is a really well crafted fixit for the mess that was season 20. No heiman necessary. Honestly after reading this I was pretty upset that the show never went down this route because it even addressed Kyle’ arc abt giving up gay speeches? Like im still upset the show hasn’t fixed that yet. Damn I love this fic.

-what if Jiro found Shiro before Haggar took him over completely vs gave him migraines ‘cause he’s subconsciously resisting being her spycam. (Also a bit of an explanation for what she even wanted him and Shiro for…) Because Black Lion has had it with the twins’ collective angst and struggling to convey the dramatic irony. (And other ideas.)

-that Shiro vs Jiro prompt I got permission from OP to write. (Side of Shiro getting to be the one to analyze Possessed!Jiro’s seeming betrayal and they get the bomb sorted before it’s nearly critical, Shiro sending everyone after the Altean Colony now with a legit City-Sized Castle (and a better pilot than Keith piloting it + Moar Gunners to deal with Space Murder Spiders en route, and Lotor fixes his OWN damn mess with his alchemic fuckups and is the one to trade his life vs constantly running away and waiting for someone else to fix it for him—own up to your bullshit, dude. Oh…and Keith officially loses his paladinship; Jiro’s the new Red Paladin.)

-post s8 fixit. Fast&Loose with whatever the fuck happened in s7&8 (I refuse to rewatch 7 or ever watch 8.) Curtis realizes Jiro’s Consciousness is still alive, but has tried so hard to stay silent. Shiro’s been unaware this entire time, and now has to properly deal with his grief and trauma and rage. The two eventually come to an understanding about the whole Body Sharing…and aimlessly go after Allura’s Nebula. (Also the paladins tag along. Shiro and Jiro get to be properly hurt with them. Finally. Nothing like a Space Roadtrip to heal trauma and relationships amiright?) The Lions show up—they actually left to go after Allura, but couldn’t get her out alone. SomethingSomething Form VOLTRON!! Og LionPaladin restored, Allura is saved, Shiro and Jiro restored back to their own separate and original bodies.

Like, “I told you, this is what happens with familial attachments” and bb’s gonna be like “nah, she did it because she thought I was putting everyone in danger” or some such shit.

Okay, so you're mad about season 7 of voltron. That's fine.

What's not acceptable is being a jackass that issues death threats or insults on social media to the voice actors, writers, or showrunners. There's not much lower that we can go as a fandom, but at this point I'm sure some of you can find it.

Things that are acceptable: Not watching Voltron anymore. Not buying the merch. You wanna show Netflix and DreamWorks that you're pissed? Show it with your pocketbooks. Hell, the only reason I was keeping my Netflix sub was because of Voltron. Now I have no reason to keep it since I won't be watching it further, so bye bye.

Too nice for you? Okay, the next thing you could do is to calmly and peacefully state what pissed you off with s7 and leave it at that.

The last thing, and slightly assholy thing, you could do to protest s7 is to not watch the writers and showrunners future projects. Don't take it out on the voice actors, they didn't have the final say in this.

Do I think that a single one of you are going to listen to a thing I say? Hell no, but it bears saying.

there is so. much. content for deancas out there and i have incredibly high standards, several ancient ao3 bookmarks, can speedread, and want to spare you guys the experience of wading through it all.

i also have a section for spn femslash since I was pretty into that back in the day (sadly a lot less fan content for this :/)

I don’t really like au’s or pure smut (I honestly usually just skim or skip those scenes) so if you’re mainly looking for that kind of thing this probably won’t be very helpful to you. jsyk.

FUCK its good...au/time travel where dean is not pulled out of hell by cas and says yes to becoming the michael sword. honestly could serve as an alternative to actually watching the show, if you want to get into dean/cas without actually doing that to yourself.

Fata morgana.* - teen/6k, pst s9 finale. very bela centric and i love it, she finds cas looking for dean in hell.

Redemption Road -misc/600+k. an incredibly long fic from a collaborative writing group back in the day. canon divergent from the end of s6 on, has a cool take on godstiel and the leviathans, as well as the lovecratian mythos connection. ngl when i reread it i only made it about 28% in but imo the casual reader can actually stop around there, the rest concerns a lovecraftian apocalypse that is still good (i think i don’t remember it very well) but not required to enjoy the first half. if you prefer i have an ebook version i can send you on gdrive.

Someone Who's Feeling For Me* - mature/45k, s12. they run into lisa braeden and dean thinks cas is into her while cas thinks dean still likes her. treats lisa way better than the show ever did and the miscommunication is pretty funny rather than annoying.

a turn of the earth - mature/95k. time travel fic where cas from s10 keeps showing up in deans life from a few years before s1 to right before the hellhounds take his soul. slow burn, good character study, and at one point cas punches the dad in the face and it rules.

On the Wings of War - teen/85k, canon divergent s5. dean accidentally becomes the Horseman of War. plays fun, fast and loose with biblical lore, michael has some rights.

Named - mature/95k, alternate s5. EXTREMELY blasphemous in a fun sexy way. manages to predict metatron almost to a T. there’s one major character death and its literally jesus christ, everyone is very sad about it and it sets the rest of the story rolling. an alternate interpretation of cas’ mission to raise dean from hell which had me on the floor. ngl its kind of misogynistic at points, but its from 2010 and tracks with late oughts-2010 spn (sorry anna the author did you dirty here:/).

The Girlfriend Experience - explicit/15k. uhhh i don’t normally rec or even read smutty stuff unless someone i know is specifically asking for it but this has stuff like sam trying to be a good ally and dean thinking holding hands with cas is ‘kinda gay :/’ minutes after having gay sex with him.

i crippled your heart a hundred times - explicit/19k, s8. cas confesses his feelings and dean spends a long time getting his head out of his ass about it. truly hits different after the actual confession, despite being written six years early it feels like its actually what could have gone down more or less if the writers weren’t talentless demons who hate us.

My Roots Take Flight** - mature/125k. reverse au where cas is a hunter and dean’s an angel...OR IS IT???? an alternate retelling of s4. tw for briefly being set in a psychiatric hospital/the hospital being mentioned somewhat frequently throughout the fic, plus more references to torture in hell and heaven than usual.

The One Thing You Can't Lose* - teen/4k.you know those posts about how cas is a super-strong super-tough ancient warrior but he just lets dean tug him around because he likes it? thats it thats the fic.

Hands, From Which All Things Are Built - teen/14k, post s8′s ‘goodbye stranger.’ cas is on the run with the angel tablet but keeps in touch with sam and dean by text, he and dean still manage to be terrible at Actual communication.

Autrement, Danger - or, The Account of an Exceedingly Long Day - mature/30k, post s11. a monster that takes the appearance of your soulmate leads to some wild miscommunications and dealing with years of repression, also dean gets to see cas’ true form which is always cool. tw for non-graphic mentions of underage sexual assault/sex work.

Down to Agincourt - mature/explicit/900++++k, endverse continuation. endverse!cas survives his encounter with lucifer and discovers another time-displaced dean from s7. i’ve only read the two of four parts but its really good, veeeeery slow burn, has a lot of fun oc’s and takes a rather surprising but (imo) entertaining and intriguing turn into Hellenic history and mythology. usual tw’s for endverse/endverse!cas but nothing graphic, it’s actually pretty light-hearted (relatively speaking of course).

Nothing Equals the Splendor** - explicit/8k, THEE finale fix it fic you’ve been waiting for! posits that the entire final episode was just a (very bad and lame) djinn’s vision.

like moses and batman and james dean - explicit/31k, post s8. explores dean’s trauma and internalized homophoba from his technically canon experience with sex work and its impact on his relationship with cas. the sex work itself isn’t really shown in any detail but it’s still a relatively heavy fic.

Crazy Diamonds - explicit/25k, s4/alternate s14. fresh-out-of-hell dean and dean from 10 years in the future are displaced from time and sent to each other’s present.

where the weeds take root - explicit/30k. au where the men of letters kick them out of the bunker and they accidentally move out into the country, get over their codependence and semi retire. featuring chicken coop building, sam volunteering at a dog shelter, gardening, and blissfully mundane domesticity.

No Resting Place - teen/6k. djinn dream fic, switches back and forth between cas’ dream of being married to dean and retired from hunting to the aftermath when he wakes up. tw for brief mention of suicide since, y’know, djinn dream.

any port in a storm - mature/52k. post s8 finale. cas and dean have to pose as a couple going through a rough patch for a case and actually deal with their emotional baggage, cas struggles with being human and metatron is up to stuff.

all this and heaven too* - explicit/7k. in the author’s own words ‘...a love letter to every trans person who ever projected onto Dean Winchester.’ absolutely unzipped me emotionally and theologically, its just. so good. tw for very brief mentions of internalized transphobia/dysphoria.

Because it is* - mature/6k, finale fix it. killing chuck does not bring back anyone back and the winchesters spend a very long time dealing with what they’ve lost, cas and dean SOMEHOW still manage to have signifigant communication issues even after the confession. tw for suicidal thoughts/brief attempt.

Vena Amoris and Other Old-Fashioned Bullshit* - teen/4k, s6. when cas fell for dean it automatically soulbonded/angel married them, shenanigans ensue when dean finds out during the angel’s civil war. funny and actually written back when s6 was airing so cas is still (or at least pretending to be) kind of an OP asshole which is fun.

Rinse, Repeat - teen/3k, s8. angsty character study of cas as he’s reprogrammed and trained to kill dean. not really dean/cas since its just cas’ pov of canon events but its beautifully written and ends with him snapping out of it through the power of love (also now a canon event!).

Emergence - explicit/59k, canon divergent after s11. dean meets a hunter he only recognizes as their friend claire novak’s missing father, but soon realizes he might be the answer behind the mysterious void in his memories and feelings (aka everyone’s memories of cas are completely wiped away for three years).

Cuckoo And Nest - explicit/10k, early established relationship/character study, cas tries to figure out how he fits into dean’s life and space in the bunker.

Build a Home* - teen/20k, canon divergent s12. sam and eileen are cute and turn the bunker into men of letters/hunters hq and everyone but cas moves in, mutual miscommunication issues and pining ensues.

Okay, reveals are almost upon us and I’ve read half or fewer of the exchange fics, but here are my favorites—from the main collection, I’ll do another post for Lil Oathkeepers—so far. There’s a lot of great stuff out there, but some of these are not getting nearly as much attention as they deserve, so don’t sleep on:

My utterly GLORIOUS and PERFECT gift fic, which is, among other things, a brilliant character study of Brienne’s gender feels, a post-canon reconciliation fix-it that made me sigh with emotion, and a tour-de-force of the best kind of scorching hot smut—the kind that uses the sex to illuminate and expand our understanding of the people having it and the relationship between them. And there’s pegging, to boot. I have been so blessed!

show me where your skin begins

I do not even know where to BEGIN describing this incredible enemies-to-lovers space AU with bonus extremely hot-and-tender bondage. I would read a whole novel set in this universe; the worldbuilding is rich and the plot is compelling and the romance hits all my favorite notes for these two and did I mention it’s also incredibly hot? and tender? tl;dr I am in awe and have publicly challenged the author to a duel.

in the dark, i thought i saw you

A beautifully angsty S7 canon divergence where the sept explosion is the breaking point for Jaime, and both he and Brienne end up in King’s Landing afterwards as captives of a slowly crumbling Cersei, who in turn finds herself unexpectedly drawn to Brienne. The J/B arc is wonderful, but but the great achievement here is one of the best takes on Cersei I've ever read.

electric boogaloo

An unusual fantasy AU with stunning worldbuilding, clever structure, and some lovely, vigorous prose—plus the atmosphere between Brienne and Jaime is quite literally electric.

Respect

This is a story about how much Jaime enjoys watching Brienne beat the crap out of men who don’t respect her—a premise I naturally find delightful—but it’s also a striking bit of character work, and the writing is excellent.

Second Hand News

I’ve always wanted more fic focusing on how Jaime and Brienne’s relationship developed in the journey from Harrenhal back to King’s Landing, and this missing scene focused on how they react to the news of the Red Wedding really delivers—it’s sad and tender and evokes their growing intimacy beautifully.

however long the night, the dawn will break again

A short but surprisingly capacious story of Jaime and Brienne as undercover agents in a wartime occupied Westeros—I’m astonished by how much story this manages to fit into 3.5K words, and it’s vivid and hot and full of yearning.

safe

A very sexy, exquisitely-written, exes-to-lovers TRAIN HEIST story, with loads of competence kink and a compressed slow burn that finally ignites to exhilarating effect. Just delightful, and I loved the bonus introduction to safecracking 101.

Ding Dong Ditch, Baby

An accidental baby acquisition—the baby is of the nephew variety—fic that delivers both hilarious hijinks and surprising emotional depths. this feels like a classic screwball comedy, but also the beginning of a tender romance.

ain’t no one in this room alone

You might not think a Ted Lasso/Game of Thrones crossover could work, but this story is here to prove you as wrong as anyone who ever doubted a Ted, or a Brienne (and it’s very funny to boot, with some delightfully clever choices made in meshing these worlds together).

with all the years between us

I SWORE I wasn’t going to start reading this while it was still a WIP, despite the premise being basically catnip to me—a S8 fixit with slow reconciliation and political marriage and complicated family dynamics—but I gave in and inhaled all of the existing chapters today. It’s even better than I’d hoped.

You’re right!! Seeing Fives with a season 7 model would have been amazing, but I’m glad we at least saw him twice during the season, even if it was only through pictures which were done in 2D. That was far more than what I expected when I first started the season back in March. Just! Fives being dead but still having relevance? The fact that his presence, his ghost, seems to hang over some of the scenes? I loved that and I think its really a testament to the weight of his character and the improvements in tcw’s storytelling in season 7

Now about the Bad Batch series, I’m really holding onto the hope that maybe Fives could be brought back from the dead (figuratively or literally) in some way that’s interesting or even key to the narrative without it seeming cheap or diminishing the value of his season 6 arc. It’s very unlikely, but I can dream (and make my own fixit AUs).

But it would be nice that, in the absence of a resurrected Fives, we at least get Fives in flashback episodes (which I think we should have either way). Fives is such a great character and he’d be able to get a lot more focus in a clone-centric series. But also! Echo and Fives is such an under explored dynamic despite it being so cemented in the series, and I want to see that specifically.

Oooooh, great question!! And I have a great answer for you - in the form of a fic which has succeeded in utterly blowing me away more than twenty times now already. Everyone, I present to you - Agents of SHIELD Season 8, by the incredible @egumal.

This is a fixit for me in the sweetest sense of the word, because it brings back Lincoln Campbell, and Staticquake, in a way that's not only potentially canon compliant, but also still respectful to Dousy and Daisy's feelings for Sousa. Basically, this fic follows a Daisy, Sousa and Kora who travel back to Deke's time-line and relive the Hive/Fallen Agent plotline - the catch being that Lincoln, who Deke saved, is in Daisy's position.

So, yeah, it's an INSANE situation, with Daisy having to deal with a hell of a lot of feelings (seeing Lincoln again!! and him not knowing who she is!!) and also the inevitable death thing going on too... it's just FANTASTICALLY written, and the twists and turns are some of the best you'll ever come across. Honestly, I cannot recommend this fic enough!!!

Ahahahaaaa, I still remember this one so well, actually!! To share: remember mid-s7 when we as a fandom were hoping Fitz would appear in the tag scene of every episode? Yeah, well, as you know, it kept not happening, lmao. Once was particularly sour, because we were teased with a pant leg... only for it to be Nathaniel freaking Malick.

Yeah, well. The ever-brilliant @bunnykaye took that and a 7x07 screencap, and transformed it into this fabulous (and very accurate for us all at the time) meme. Ahhhh, I still love it (and that entire Mack & Deke meme format tbh) to absolute pieces!!

...VLD just massively missed a serious opportunity to have waystations for both study and refueling dotting the solar system spiralling in orbit or secured on moons and planetoids and I will never not be salty about it.

(...even if I can “do it myself dammit!” with my no-worse than “canon” understanding of Armchair Astronomy.)

But...

Moon and Mars Colonies. Sure it’s not terraforming but they’re self-sustainable and some scientists even started families underneath these domed cities. HABs are more or less a thing of the past. Long-term posts on stations built on planetoid and moon crusts stable enough within the Asteroid Belt or above Liquid and Gas giants, and stations suspended above planets or spiralling in empty space much like Earth’s first ISS.

The “colonies” are all relatively new—the Lunar colony is the oldest at not *quite* 30 years, with many of the children born there now adults or on the cusp of adulthood, and some even raising a second generation. But they’re Old Enough that “human” doesn’t quite fit as a collective term anymore. Which humans? Earth humans? Luna humans? Belt humans? Europa humans? Humanity’s finally spread their fledgeling wings across the system in short, fluttering hops, finally ready to learn how to really fly. Not out of resource neccessity...but because they can.

Earth humans are jokingly referred to as Terrans. Humans have always been terrible at naming things, but there’s something romantic about Terra and Terran vs...Earthling. Even if it’s still Earth-Earth like Luna is Moon-Moon. Likewise, the Lunar Colonists refer to themselves as Lunans.

Martian, however, sticks. It’s too good an opportunity to pass up so the Red Planet’s naturalized inhabitants keep it. (It’s also not as bad as “Earthling” as a nod to retro sci-fi nostalgia.)

There’s a debate about whether those stationed within the Belt should call themselves Beltans, or something more specific to their home asteroid. (Ceresians would kindly like to remind everyone that they live with a planetoid, thank-you-very-much.)

A similar debate occurs regarding Jupiter and its moons...but for the most part everyone’s content with keeping, say, Europian or Callistian, while others simply refer to themselves as Jovan.

While the primary objectives of Space Study and serving as a harbor for astronauts are never forgotten, each colony begins to develop cultures of their own that are heavily influenced by both the available resources and the original Terran Cultures that first settled them. (Luna in particular has a distinctly Bok Choy rich diet both for the extra calcium as well as to flaunt their successful aeroponics and greenhouse systems. Martians, however, are potato-rich and often add variety with spices curries.) Terran Holidays are often observed, depending on the nationalities and religions of the colonists; but new, more specific ones develop as well, often based around First Landing and more mundane things like Orbits and Harvests.

Earth’s space programs merge into a single entity: Galaxy Garrison.

Galaxy in recognition of Humanity’s Reach beyond just Earth, now.

Garrison for the unspoken need for not just space exploration training and the systems that support it, but a way train those daring to be astronauts or colonist or even just Terran Scientists and Engineers that even without interstellar neighbors lurking beyond their System, space has plenty of more naturalistic dangers all on its own.

(Federation is also considered: each colony is essentially its own State now, with the GG as its parent. Galaxy Garrison Federation is often said unofficially, but Earth’s powers aren’t quite willing to acknowledge the political position GG’s success demands just yet, as Earth Itself is still reeling from the decades’ old Third World War. The GG was originally Earth’s response to that as a way to redirect energy and resources to distract the planet’s populations from the harrowing reality of rebuilding their war-torn and war-sick world.)
