Prometheus is a better titan to name something after than Atlas and much, much more narratively fitting.

Atlas chose the “wrong side” and was stripped of his title and punished indefinitely with a thankless task. HELL. NO.

Prometheus, however, is the father of knowledge. He had mercy for others and paid dearly for gifting that knowledge. However, depending on the myth retelling he is eventually freed from his torment and restored.

There is NO Atlas in my fanon. There is, however, a Prometheus. Also Shiro and Jiro both live, Shiro remains Black’s Paladin and both twins stay with their Voltron FoundFam, Allura never loses her RV, and Sam never builds the Prometheus so obnoxiously large like the Atlas was “canonically”.

The Prometheus is also, quite obviously, Sam’s Ship since such a ship was always his brainchild, anyway, and crewed by Friendly Faces in the Garrison ready to defend humanity in what’s probably going to be more or less an ark, or the flagship for several fleets of arks.

(Buuut, will prolly have a fanon version of Hawkins actually have its command. Sam’s great as the head of a team—like the Kerberos Mission—but is probably quite frankly more comfortable and therefore better suited to stick with engineering or chemistry, perhaps as the chief engineer or head of the chemistry dept (since “Chief Science Officer” is much to vague...Startrek!). And Sam also seemed to be originally framed as a bio chemist or microbiologist vs an engineer so...who knows. But it’s certainly shaping up to be NOT “all Sam” isn’t it.)
