Stella Kidd S4ep15 Bad For the Soul:

Took me 6 years, but finally I was like why am I taking care of this guy? Why do I want to grow old with somebody who is never going to grow up?

Stella S7Ep21 I'm not leaving you (let's all try not to think about how this episode title also goes with stellaride: He wasn't able to help himself, I spent all my energy trying to help him. And it drained me. It drained me until I had nothing left to give.

So it's reallyt he season 7 that hits me harder but looking at taking care of others. Also considering her upbringing no wonder she is always so worried about herself. Obviously/or I"m assuming that Lavenre never expected the PPD after her second child Noah and she probably didn't expect or want Stella to take care of everyone. But I"m assuming since sTella said she did not grow up in a happy healthy home that she probably had to take care of herself even while she lived with her parents. She probably got a reprieve when living with her Aunt since Cole said that when sTella came to them his mom poured love onto Stella but he also kind of said the damage was done to Stella with her parents. He said Stella tried to act tough but it was a tough situation. So I think Stella wanted to return the favor or felt like a burden maybe to her Aunt and Uncle. Beause now she was an extra person in the house so let her do her part to help. Then she ends up with Grant and he probably was good to her at first it always starts small but then she talks about him like she was always taking care of him and in s7 says I gave and gave until I had nothing left to give. Until she was drained. I don't know if it was while she was at 51 or somehow Kelly encouraged her while they were together before their brief breakup to put herself first.

It seems like Stella findinally was able to be her young self in a healthy way in s5 and s6 of Chicago Fire. She wasn't someone's wife, she wasn't the junkie anymore and she wansnt the extra kid in the house. Stella loved that family. But I think she felt like a burden and part of me thinks yes like she said she thought it was obligation ont hier part and she was embarrassed but I think also she didn't want to continue or bing up bad memories. At 51 she gets to be herself and they love her at 51. As Boden told her in S10, the house would be different if she left it as well.

It just hits so differntly knowing that she's taken care of others all her life and her paying it forward with Girls on Fire to keep those girls off a path she went down. And it's so interesting because we like to point out Kelly makes dinner for her, Kelly does scuba gear date night for her, Kelly wants to take care of her and protect her and she feels safe enough with him to let him do that. To let him quote un quote be the man. LIke even in the RPG episode, she is there sleeping and he's there watching her and she asks you've been here all day. LIke this girl still doesn't think she deserves this love and praise. And he's like "I"m not going anywhere" I won't even get to the feeling I just had where he's actually the only person in her life who has not gone anywhere (we're not going to talk about Alabama).

Her parents died

In a way her rAunt Laverne who is still her hero left mentally for ( we don't even know how long that was. And how old Stella was when Aunt Laverne had Noah. We know she got there at 12 years old)

Kelly has consistently stayed and made a conscious effort and also has actively told her that nobody's perfect not even her but that she is the perfect one for him and he never wants her to leave him unequivocally.

I really have no idea if this made sense. I feel like I had a better logical reasoning a few days ago but this is why that S7 line hits harder than it used to. It just has a different vibe knowing she's taken care of others all her life and it also explains why she had to walk away form Kelly for those few months because she coudn't be drained again. She learned from Kelly how to be healthy and have healthy boundaries.
