mickey is the bravest boy in the world. he's so courageous in so many ways but in this moment? their first kiss? HIS first kiss?? BEYOND brave 🥺 that's my personal headcanon, that this was his first kiss with anyone. and it makes me fucking sob bc what better first kiss to have than one with someone you're head over fucking heels for?? even if it ends in chaos?? i don't think he ever trusted anyone the way he trusts ian, the way he feels so safe with him in a way that's new and unfamiliar and terrifying and invigorating. it's unlikely, in my mind, that he would ever trust anyone else with anything so intimate and personal. maybe not as he aged, but definitely in this moment.

i think he planned it in the same way someone "plans" for a fight. you know you'll be there, you know they'll be there, and you know what's about to go down but you have no way of knowing exactly what's going to happen. because maybe they'll surprise you. or even better, maybe you'll surprise yourself. and i think that's what he did! surprised himself! because i know he woke up that morning realizing he may have a chance to prove ian wrong - that he isn't afraid to kiss him - and decided to take it if the opportunity presented itself. i don't think he knew the logistics of it. i think he just knew that it was something he needed to do, something he wanted to do, and the next time he saw a chance, he'd take it. and he saw his chance!! and he took it!! and it was beautiful and wonderful and life-changing and earth-tilting and reality-shifting and all the incredible things 😭

Because it's like, MK feels extremely abandoned and hurt by Wukong during s2. MK's line of "Fine! Then just leave! At least my friends will never abandon me!" in 2x01 Sleep Bug is VERY telling, and it also makes me sob when put together with 3x10 The Samadhi Fire:

MK: "NO! Mei is my best friend—I'd never abandon her when she needs me! We're heroes! It's what we do!"

And 4x02 New Adventures:

MK: “You don’t know! We’d risk it for sure! I won’t abandon them when they need us.”

MK's own low self-worth combined with Wukong's tendency to leave in the worst way possible, which was only further exacerbated by the Lady Bone Demon's manipulation.

And I think MK's experiences and feelings throughout s2 made him resolve to never make his friends feel abandoned.

But of course, since this is Lego Monkie Kid, it's more interesting than just that—because MK leaves at the end of s4. It was out of fear, sure, but so was Wukong leaving in s2 and at the end of s3. MK does exactly what he set out not to do, making the same mistakes his mentor has, literally going to isolate himself on Flower Fruit Mountain for an undetermined amount of time.

It's things like this that make the question of "Who is MK" so intriguing, because that's who MK want's to be. He want's to be himself. But who is that person?

Is MK just like Wukong? Is he a harbinger of chaos? Is he just a noodle delivery boy? Is he Monkie Kid? What if you remove all those labels? What's left? What is he?

(Plus the whole "I just want to be me—to be MK!" "Yeah well...we all know where that leads." interaction between MK and the curse in 4x07)

And now that we've thrown MK's mysterious past and ominous future into the mix, we are in for a FULL on identity crisis spiral next season.

And well, when it comes down to it, MK was willing and ready to fight Wukong in s2. The lmk writers are fantastic at paying off several arcs all at the same time (see all of 3x10, which literally had the culmination of Mei's, MK's, Wukong's, and Macaque's arcs all in one. It's fucking phenomenal), and this is partly due to the time constraints of the show as a whole, but it's also just damn good writing. MK's past, his identity, the hurt he's experienced across every season—that's all going to come to a head. I also imagine it's going to happen right along side Mei, Wukong, and Macaque's arcs once again, because that's just how this show do. It do insane shit.

I also happen to be a believer in "Samadhi Fire Part 3", in which we get another 3x10 and 4x08 parallel to round it all up, and I am waiting, WAITING, for Mei to repeat MK's words back at him:

“Mei! You have to stop. I know you’re upset, and that’s okay! I know what it’s like to have a power you don’t know how to control—to feel like the fate of the world is in your hands and you have no idea what to do! Hi again! My ✨️controversial✨️TV love triangle is from Stranger Things. I don't know how much you know about ST (if at all) but there's a "love triangle" between Eleven, Mike & Will. There's a fandom war between Milevens (the canon ship) and Bylers (the fanon/maybe one day possible ship) and I hate it. Because my favorite ST character is Mike and both fandoms treat him like shit and only "tolerate" him because he's the other half of their favorite ship. You can always talk shit about Mike but don't you dare talk shit about Will or Eleven. Honestly? I think both ships are toxic in their own way, they're also teenagers and have their whole lives ahead of them so why should I be rooting for 14-year-olds to have a forever partner? That just feels wrong, if I married the people I dated when I was a teenager then my life would be miserable right now. Sorry for the rant, but hey you asked lol 🤷��‍♀️. (No, really. I'm sorry. As for The Hunger Games, I'm not really the biggest fan of the series. I think I just expected too much from it because of the hype and just never really saw it for myself. And I don't hate Annabeth, I just never really vibed with her and I loved Percy so I always thought he could do better (and once again, teenagers). As for HP? Eh, I gave up on that one a long time ago. Same thing with Red Queen. Glad we agreed on Twilight tho.

OH MY GOD I WILL GO TO WAR DEFENDING MIKE WHEELER THAT KID IS MY SON AND I WILL RUN YOU OVER IF YOU'RE MEAN TO HIM. Personally, I swing toward mileven more than I swing toward bylers, for no real reason, mostly today is that I don't think Will would do that to Eleven, but again they are 14, I'm with you on that point. But it INFURIATES me the way that people seem to forget that Mike is 14. He was 12 in season 1. He was 12 being put in a leadership position because he found another 12 yo, bonded with her, because it's just who he is, while looking for his best friend, SAW HIS BEST FRIENDS BODY, WENT TO HIS FUCKING FUNERAL, HE JUMPED OF A CLIFF AT AGE TWELVE, then was chased by the government, and watched the girl he bonded with "kill" herself saving him. He thought Will was dead, he thought El was dead for a YEAR. The amount of trauma that kid had just from s1 was insane, and then he watched Will get possessed, he was the one with Will, he watched everything Will went through, and sure Will is the one going through it, but they established Mike as a protector and then made the kid continuously"fail" to protect both Will and Eleven, because he's fucking 14 and dealing with a literal evil spirit chasing his girlfriend and his best friend. People act like the way he treats El in s3 is "controlling" as if he didn't watch her disappear in a cloud of dust after overusing her powers, and look, she lost the fucking powers so wasn't wrong to be worried. He's 14. Will goes missing, Will "dies", El "dies", Will gets possessed, El almost dies, El loses her powers, HIS GIRLFRIEND AND HIS BEST FRIEND move to a different state, his girlfriend gets kidnapped, he's repeatedly shot at, all while putting the pressure on himself to be the one with the answers, to be the leader, be the fucking paladin. HE'S FUCKING FOURTEEN. HE IS A CHILD. Moving around a shit load of trauma, that he can't talk about, is actively lying about, and no one will understand, and it's minimized because he was never on the upside down or doesn't have powers, as if just being near all this crazy, watching all that with his own eyes, wouldn't affect him. And people act all "how dare evil Mike be evil" when the boy is trying to cope with having the craziest life imaginable. The way people don't allow him AN INCH of slack makes me violent. And this got heated, sorry lol but I'm 100% with you, people hate Mike and take things way too seriously when we are talking about relationships between 14 year olds.

I understand the not liking hunger games all that much, don't relate, but yeah. HP, honestly, I mostly don't think about it anymore, but I was really obsessed as a child, something the thoughts come back akpaakpaka but twilight is a nice common ground lol

Demetri has BUSTED HIS ASS being supportive of Eli from the JUMP, and the only things he really complained about/took issue with Eli doing were...reasonable things to take issue with. Like wow, Demetri left a bad yelp review for a dojo where he literally got assaulted! Wow, Demetri didn't unquestionably roll with it when Eli started acting like a complete douchebag! Wow, Demetri didn't roll over and take it when Eli acted like he wanted to reconcile just to string Demetri along, pour beer on him, and go "lol I still fucking hate you actually"! The fact that people act like that's the height of evil as opposed to, like, the MASS of insanely cruel bullshit Eli was pulling in S2 and S3 is crazy. Like these are the type of people who idolize the exact type of violent toxic masculinity crap Hawk's character is trying to deconstruct, and it honestly kind of scares me that they don't see Hawk as being in the wrong at all.

And despite everything, Demetri loves this kid so damn much that he a) forgave him instantly because he just trusted THAT much that Eli's apology was genuine b) got him back into karate (the sport that lowkey brought out the worst in Eli in the first place) because it would make Eli happy and c) was willing to entirely let bygones be bygones and go back to being best friends like nothing happened. Not the smartest or healthiest approach, tbh, but absolutely a testament to how much Demetri cares about Eli and wants him in his life. The degree to which Demetri loves Eli is...honestly kind of awe-inspiring to me. Demetri does not have to go that hard for Eli, but he absolutely does. At every turn.

And, like you said, he gets paid in DUST. Like sure, Eli makes an effort to get better, and joins Demetri's dojo. But he also doesn't appear to give a metric shit when Demetri is absent for most of S5, and he twiddles his thumbs telling Demetri he didn't apply to MIT in a way that lowkey makes it look like he's trying to sneakily escape from Demetri or something. Granted, it's partly on Demetri for not communicating to Eli that he's still harboring a lot of baggage from the time they spent as enemies, BUT. Massively bad judgment call for Eli to a) never check up on Demetri about All That Stuff and make sure he was actually okay and b) not like. Consider that trying to silently and stealthily back out of MIT would look really bad to the guy he recently gave a fuckton of abandonment issues. Demetri absolutely has the right to flip out and be angry when he suspects Eli is going to ditch him again--and seemingly in a slimy, underhanded way, too!--after Demetri put aside so much trauma and anger and hurt for the sake of supporting Eli. All the man wants is maybe a little appreciation for all he does for Eli and every personal doubt he puts on the back burner to be Eli's cheerleader, and what does he get in return??? Eli backing out of their lifelong plans at the last possible second and not even deigning to tell him.

TL;DR Demetri can and should go apeshit, and Eli's got a lot of making up to do. Get to it, bird boy!!!

Thoughts On The Sparrow Academy’s Powers

because oh boy do i have MANY thoughts

Number 1 - Marcus: Marcus is described as ‘charming, chiselled and colossus’, as well as ‘keeping the family together’ and being ‘a natural leader who oozes confidence’. They seem to be leaning pretty hard into the Luther parallel, which suggests he likely has a similar power. In the comics, the sparrows’ number 1 has super strength, just like Luther, so i think Marcus either has that or has some form of super resistance like Luther has also demonstrated.

Number 2 - Ben: Ben is an interesting case because he may just have the same power. However, his character description is decidedly far from umbrella!Ben’s personality, as well as being a fairly good parallel to Diego. I think it would be interesting if he has Diego’s breath-holding power from the comics, as it would be in-keeping with him being number 2, as well as being somewhat fitting when compared to umbrella!Ben’s power. 

Number 3 - Fei: Fei is described as ‘seeing the world in a special way’ which is intriguing as fuck. My best guess is she can give people visions, Scarlet Witch-style. This would be a fitting parallel to Allison’s rumours, although it’s overpowered as all hell. 

Number 4 - Alphonso: Alphonso is described as ‘bearing his scars from years of crime fighting’, which sounds very Diego-ish tbh. In the comics, one of the sparrows can apparently ‘release blasts from their face’ which makes sense with the scar thing. It would also be a good parallel to Klaus, with them both having powers that would really fuck them up with consistent use. I also think Alphonso might be blind (likely because of this power) but i’ll get back to that.

Number 5 - Sloane: Sloane is described as ‘a romantic and a dreamer’ who is ‘eager to see the world and experience life outside her upbringing’ which says to me that she maybe wants to distance herself from the academy and possibly her power. In the comics, one of the sparrows (’Carla’) can heal injuries in some way, which i think would fit Sloane quite well. I’ve seen some people say Carla specifically can transfer injuries from one person to another, which I personally find really interesting. It would be a nice parallel to five, if she can ‘teleport’ injuries (ok i know its a stretch but just go with it). Also, if her power is quite literally injuring people, it would make sense for her to want to get away from the academy and maybe find a way to help people that doesn’t hurt others. 

Number 6 - Jayme: My favourite sparrow! Jayme is described as ‘a loner under a hoodie’, who ‘has a fear-inducing snarl you’ll want to avoid at all costs’. To me, this suggests she has some sort of Medusa-esque power where if someone looks her in the eye they are maybe paralyzed (given the phrase ‘paralyzed with fear’). This would be a nice parallel to Ben, since they would both have powers inspired by mythos. In one of the leaked posters for s3, we see the silhouettes of the sparrows with dots for eyes, and one of them has a red line across their eyes instead, which looks like some sort of mask. This would make sense to be Jayme. This also brings me back to Alphonso; unfortunately i can’t find a source, but i remember reading that he’s Jayme’s ‘only friend’ or something along those lines. If i’m correct about their powers, it would make sense that he would be blind.

Number 7 - Christopher: Since we already know Christopher’s powers (’telekinetic’, and ‘can turn the room freezing cold and induce paralyzing fear’), i’m going to propose another theory: he isn’t one of the 43. He’s said to be ‘of unknown origin’ which suggests his origin is a plot point of some sort; if he was one of the 43, why say that? Furthermore, if i’m correct about the others’ powers, Christopher just seems to have a combination of Fei and Jayme’s. Given what we know about Reginald, i think it’s possible one of the sparrows died before the kids were old enough to fight real crime. Reggie, being the insane person alien he is, maybe tried to replace the dead sparrow (presumably number 7) with a robot of some sort (after all, he did the same with the nannies). Maybe he took dna from some of the others and suspended it ‘psykronium’, creating Christopher. Yeah, this is a bit of a crack theory but i didn’t know what else to put here and it’s in character for Mr. Veggie to do something like this. 

BONUS - The Etymology of ‘Psykronium’: I assumed it was a pre-established sci-fi thing but apparently not so i did some digging. ‘Psy’ seems to come from the prefix ‘psych’, which is of greek origin and means ‘mind’. ‘kron’ likely comes from the greek ‘kronos’, meaning ‘time’. and ‘ium’ is a suffiix that comes from latin and generally refers to a metallic element or biological structure. so ‘psykronium’ literally means ‘mind time substance’. do with that what you will.

“Are you sure about that?” The athlete raised a disbelieving brow as he stared down at Tony. “You’ve been walking up and down this hallway for the past ten minutes, and the least embarrassing reason why is being lost.”

The blunt honesty startled a laugh out of Tony. He grinned cheekily, rocking back on his heels, “Guess I’m lost then.”

Med Series Rewatch (#12)

S3 E12: Born This Way.

Episode description: Dr. Manning and Dr. Choi are faced with a tough decision.

Literally when are they not.

Okay, last episode ended with the first Ava/Connor kiss, so this episode should be a rollercoaster of emotions.

let’s get into it.

- okay, already we’re starting in connor’s apartment, so cue ava walking in bc they slept together?

- i think its hilarious that her casual clothing is.. a flannel. like lmao idk

- it is so unbelievably funny and stupid to have a one night stand with someone you work closely with. i mean come on

- never forget that dr. ava bekker has a fish tank

- this is exhausting. the tentative back and forth is so fucking exhausting

- another bit of evidence. ava is never not confident, and especially not to this extent, and she never follows connor’s lead. so, the fact that she is standing back and waiting for him to make the decision? stupid.

- it screams that she is having a moment of anxiety, which is why she isn’t up to make the decisions in the exchange.

-to be clear: what i’m claiming here is that the only reason ava actually got with connor was bc she was having a moment of anxiety because he was the only person she had built a relationship with after living in this city for six months.

- when connor says that he has plans you can see her fold in on herself. this stems from a place of anxiety

- remember when they did surgery on the panda? that’s when the show peaked

- ava in her lab coat will never not get me. especially with the gloves, running towards a patient (very hot)

- connor still looks kinda looks like a mess but ava is immaculate here like what dude out of your league

- ava asking the family questions (ik this is standard doctor stuff but showing worry, interest, all that jazz)

- okay, see here! here! ava calls connor out, saying that his procedure is too invasive. before, ava’s procedures where invasive, which everyone used as evidence to her being super cold, but now, we see that she purely does what she deems best for the patient at hand

- also, once again, the concern ava feels. you can hear it in her voice. we forget this part of her way too often

- the smile on ava’s face when she gives the family good news. god wept

- and then more concern when connor tells her they need to put him on ecmo

- the reason that ava is frustrated that connor didn’t go with her decision for their patient care is because she truly believes that if they don’t go with her treatment, he will die. don’t make it anything different. don’t argue she’s frustrated because he’s not listening to her. don’t make it anything about their relationship. she puts their patients care first and foremost

- there’s a stark shift in her demeanor when in the room with the parents vs. her alone with connor. in the room, you can see she’s stewing. she’s sucking on her teeth, she’s holding her emotions. she has control, she’s a professional. out of the room, she has full reign to be as mad with connor as she wants, which she does.

-AVA RAN INTO THE ROOM AGAIN WITH THE LAB COAT AND GLOVES AND IDK IT JUST HAS ME FEELING SOME KINDA WAY

- the way ava acknowledges everyone in the room (the nurse just informed them that the drug was running, ava nodded. just a little thing but yk)

- ava shaking her head at this sad, sad man (connor, who is floundering for a solution and misplacing his anger)

- their entire relationship is misplaced anger

- the fact that the last shot of the scene has connor in the foreground looking over the bed and ava watching from the door but ava is the one in focus - some cool cinematography points

- IS THIS THE EPISODE WHERE MAGGIE GOES TO JAIL

- med really went all over the place

- JUST THE AMOUNT OF CONCERN ON AVA’S FACE. im gonna say it again. look me in the eyes and tell this women is a psychopath. the med writers are fucking insane

- and when the parents ask ava if she disagreed with connor’s treatment decision, she has every opportunity (and right, frankly) to throw him under the bus and undermine him. but still, she says “it’s a complicated situation.” like. she never ever makes it personal, or loses her head. especially not to a patient. and she doesn’t have to defend connor. he’s made a lot of mistakes, and taken it out on her a bunch of times. yet she’s still nice to him, when he’s not even in the room

- it’s insane

- this is also the legendary scene where she comforts the family. there’s not a lot that i haven’t already said. this is the scene that most exemplifies ava’s humanity, the way she seems to feel, at least residually, what these parents are going through (since she obviously hasn’t gone through anything like this herself [unless.]). the way she kneels down, and gets on the family’s personal level.

- I... okay listen. I absolutely HATE the parallel they pull her between the line “I believe whenever you do something out of love, it can never really be wrong” and connor. especially because they show him when she says that line. and yeah, there’s obviously a connection that can be drawn between the meaning of that line and her sociopathic behavior in s4 and s5.

- it honestly feels like when writing s4, the writers hit so much of a wall they just googled the most ‘iconic’ ava moments and thought ‘how can i use these in the worst way possible?’ That’s honestly probably what they did (ava’s first interaction with connor - ‘you better watch yourself,’ this moment). There is no nuance to her character in s4. it is astoundingly terrible.

- lets move on

- THE WAY CONNOR LOOKS AT AVA HER MAKES ME FUCKING SCARED. HE HAS NO EMOTION ON HIS FACE. I know that we’ve been screen capping ava throughout this series but can someone find pictures of connor looking at ava bc, i need yall to remember how weird he looks

- like, no shade to connor, but just the emotion is undecipherable, but it is in no way a good one

- ava getting concerned (and looking slightly embarrassed) when she sees connor watching her by the door. obviously yeah she’s gonna feel weird you just caught her in a very uncharacteristic moment, outwardly expressing comfort. fucking back off

- i am so fucking protective of her and i demand he no longer look at her. it’s banned

- sam abrams looking at sarah’s dad’s head ct and asking if he’s a criminal. oh boy 

- from a writer’s perspective, the storyline with sarah’s dad is actually pretty good

- ava ran into the room with gloves and lab coat again, if anybody wanted to know

- for the record, want it to be noted, ava was the one who realized that it was an issue with the machine again, so you could say she fixed connor’s mistake, again. so.

- connor making a big deal about handing the reins over to ava (if he really was selfless he wouldn’t have made a whole big thing, he still has an enormous hero complex)

- handing off control was very hard for him. boo hoo get some fucking humility I think they sell it at walgreens

- sarah fucking walking across the ed like she’s going to war. dramatic

- med really said pedophiles deserve rights with this ep huh

- anyway

- the way ava smiles

- the way she smiles when she turns him down. CAN WE TALK ABOUT THAT? SHE TURNED HIM DOWN. in the aspect of the story i cannot remember why she turned him down, but hey, i’m happy

- and it only further proves my story that the hook up came from a place of anxiety, and this is her realizing how silly that decision was. and her smiling was her laughing at herself for making such a stupid decision

- ALSO. LET’S TALK ABOUT THE FACT THAT THIS DECISION, THE DECISION TO TURN HIM DOWN, HAPPENED IN THE SAME EPISODE WHERE SHE SAID ‘IF YOU DO SOMETHING FOR LOVE, IT’S NEVER REALLY WRONG’

- like she literally says ‘last night was a mistake.’

- honestly, it’s fucking hilarious. connor deserves nothing

- and the confusion on his face when she walks away. hilarious

- if you wanted to take this the reesker route you could argue that the idea of ‘a decision of love’ was ava coming to terms with her slight little crush, though i don’t know how clean it would be if you argue that she panicked and told herself those were feelings meant for connor. idk, i’ll have to think about it further

- watching sarah let herself be betrayed by both herself and the people around in the story surrounding her dad will never not be hard to watch

This was a very good episode, character wise, for all the reasons stated above. It just hammers home the point of how strong a character Ava was. Key word, of course, being ‘was’. My conclusion over the last two episodes is that this specific sexual encounter with Connor was born out of a moment of anxiety from Ava. I suggest that over that last few weeks or days she has been experiencing some amount of anxiety out of having been living in Chicago for six months and only having one interpersonal relationship. So, that idea kind of built where she told herself the reason she only had one relationship was because she was in love with him. Then. after going through the story with this kid and comforting his parents, she realizes that she never actually loved Connor and maybe has a thing for someone else. I’m glad that I keep coming up with more ideas for this character, I was afraid the initial theory was somewhat of a one-off, but this only proves the idea of the complexity to Ava’s character.

I’m sure it’ll get worse from here, though.

GIRL SAY ITTTT

Like the homoerotic tension between these four is insane??? Eli and Demetri especially, like. They're so painfully in love and have been from the jump. It's honestly hilarious that it took me until S2 to catch on, because like. Even in S1 they were fruity af. Eli spends half the time shooting Demetri piney looks and like...what??? We're just supposed to accept that's a normal way that platonic besties stare at each other unprompted???

#for a while i thought that demetri and hawk’s obliviousness was hilarious#whether it’s canon or not #but now it’s not funny at all HONESTLY. I was like "I'm gonna laugh so hard if they keep their beards for the rest of the show" but now it's like. This show deadass wants me to think these absolute farces of straight relationship have any substance and depth to them at all. Like. They unironically are trying to portray Eli, Demetri, Yasmine, and Moon's beardy little arrangement as some kind of epic young love teenage romance. Like Yasmine flying all the way back to prom for Demetri in S4 despite not even wanting to be SEEN with him in S3??? What??? So we're just supposed to accept she did a full 180 offscreen without question??? It literally only makes any sense if she's putting on some kind of act to appear Super Ultra Straight. And Moon, poor Moon. She totally moved on with her life and was having the time of her life flirting with women and being over Eli, but nooooo, we gotta have her suddenly like Eli again to reward him for being a good boi -____- And you know. Even though she never gave any indication of being into him for more than the shallowest possible reasons.

Like it's literally infuriating that we're expected to unironically root for these pairings. They do a huge disservice to all four characters and casually regress all development that all four of them have gone through. Demetri and Eli finally learning to accept their authentic selves (i.e. GAY) and learning that you don't need a hot trophy girlfriend to be cool??? Demetri learning you can't woo girls by making weird sexual venn diagram jokes??? Eli learning that pining for your ex of two minutes for close to a year is in fact unhealthy and kind of concerning??? NOPE! Let's completely strip the girls' agency so we can give the boys everything (we're meant to believe) they want. And Yasmine and Moon, getting to have agency and not be tied down to two gay nerd boys who "liked" them for the shallowest reasons on the planet??? Yasmine, getting to have a redemption arc and a character based around something more than being hot for a nerd boy who made creepy comments toward her??? Moon, getting to move on, explore her sexuality, and get over the boy she dated for 2 minutes??? Nope! They are props for male characters' stories and we're all just supposed to be cool with that :)

#YASMIN KNOWS MOON IS NOT STRAIGHT WHY CANT SHE JUST SHOOT HER SHOT FOR REAL FOR REAL Like did she not see Moon giving her a full-body check-out in S4 or??? Like is she really that completely oblivious??? Girl you have been yeeted so far out of the friendzone that it is but a distant dot on the horizon at this point -_____- The only thing I can figure is that Yasmine has homophobic parents and/or other family who gave her a hard enough time about not getting a boyfriend (which she notably does not have in S1) that she felt like she needed a beard to keep up appearances. I always figured part of the reason she was so awful during S1 is because she was having some kinda trouble at home and took it out on her peers.

ELI AND DEMETRI

YASMIN AND MOON

Hawkmetri has so much potential, if they’ll just realize that they clearly have feelings for each other and get together. We still don’t know what will happen in season six, but I’m always imagining what may go down and if it could lead to their becoming a couple. I don’t know, there’s so many ways S6 could go and there’s still a possibility, but it’s very slim. Considering all of the moments Hawk and Demetri have already had together and it all being for nothing, we may have to deal with Demetri and Yasmin’s closeted asses pining for their best friends until the end of the show.

Thoughts and analysis about S4

This is going to be episode by episode and very long so here we go.

Episode 1: Code of Honor The Blade of Marmora is affecting Keith obviously in more ways than one, we know that Keith felt he was not meant to be the leader of Voltron and the BoM helps him ghost away from his responsibility. This causes something he feels is right, no longer being the Black Paladin, and something he fears, being pushed away by his team. From his vlog, we know he isolates himself on purpose so he won’t get hurt, instead it has the least desired effect this time. Yes, the team supports eventually his decision on going with the BoM, however, they were harsh on him in the beginning and this isn’t what Keith needs.

Despite all the things with Keith, Shiro (Kuron) gaining his trust back with the Black Lion says something, they still have their bond and the lion knew how much he needed to help the team. If we’re still on the clone theories, it’s really interesting Kuron was able to bond with the lion. But, this still throws away all the work in S3, even if Keith didn’t want it. 

Episode 2: Reunion (AKA MY FAV EPISODE) Oooohh boy!!! I’ve been waiting so long for this!! Prepare for super analysis and detail because the Holts are my life. 

So, the episode starts Katie staring out the classroom window, until something in the school lesson catches her interest. She gets excited and shares her own knowledge on it, it shows how much passion she has for science. Only for her to be shot down by pre-teen assholes. This affects her to the point of tears, showing she wasn’t confident about her brains, even giving up studying for a brief period. 

Let’s take a break to say, because of this, I suspect Katie didn’t have many friends. It’s middle school, a really tough time for any teen and she’s struggling. The only thing that keeps her sane is her older brother, he shares his wisdom and supports his little sister. At a point later in the episode she even says something along the lines of: “I can’t believe I have to go through middle school without you.” She’s later praised and known for her brains. Nerd power!!

Also, it turns out Matt gave Katie the nickname Pidge and used it as her alias. I have my own headcanon on how she got it but that’s a post for another time.

Okay, back to the present and Pidge is out searching for him. That Pidge Jedi aesthetic? My aesthetic. Bargaining Pidge? My fav. Now, she’s got a lead and helps freedom fighters she encounters. Okay, here comes the part where I super analyze Pidge. 

Pidge witnessing someone die right before her eyes, when she knew she had the chance to save them. She’s crying, frustrated and feels helpless. We know how much Pidge thinks and rambles when she’s nervous. Imagine her now. “I could have done more.” “I should have been faster.” and etc. She knows the casualties the Galra cause, but seeing it up close and alone is different. 

Back to the past! Honestly, this small moment of the siblings sitting on the roof, Matt teaching her codes and frequencies, and them going past their curfew is adorable.

Now here’s where I get emotional. With Matt’s code, Pidge arrives on a destroyed planet, there resides a massive burial and cemetery honored rebels who fought in the cause. Everything about this scene screams heartbreaking: the music, scenery of the 120,000+ graves, the flashbacks, everything. I knew from the spoilers that Matt was alive and well, but the feeling of over a year’s work of finding your family, only to reach their grave, is devastating. This hit me hard and it’s the only episode I recall crying at.

Thankfully, encrypted in his grave, there are hidden coordinates. (HUGE FUCKING SIGH OF RELIEF AFTER THAT HEARTBREAK)

after small scuffle, her bayard knocks off his mask and cue a very happy and sweet reunion. Matt loves his sister and thinks she’s amazing, literally all that matters. Also a bounty hunter was looking for them since the Unilu meeting. 

“Stand back, Matt.” “Stand back, Pidge.” SHOW THAT GUY WHAT THE HOLTS ARE MADE OF!!! The animation in this fight scene is awesome like I’m in awe. The siblings using their brains to weaken their opponent and BOTH KNOCK HIM OUT!!! LITERALLY EVERYTHING I COULD HAVE ASKED FOR!! Matt is a tall bamf and I love him.

Some pictures of the Holt family in front of the Garrison is shown (also pre-Kerberos Shiro and Keith in the background, I’m assuming he knew Keith at some point). Matt no longer needs his glasses and passes them on to Pidge, I’m sure they’re mostly for sentimental purposes and she wears them for that. Pidge can knock down Matt like omg. And it ends with a shot of her putting on the glasses and looking up to the sky. 

Okay, honestly. This is one of my favorite episodes, it’s just great. I have no words for it. I love Pidge, I love Matt. I LOVE THEM

Episode 3: Black Site Haggar/Honerva looking at her true self, using magic to hide her her true appearance because she can’t bear to look at herself. 

We get to see how Matt really is and I love this memelord. Fanon Matt is Canon Matt and it’s amazing. Honestly, he’s relatable when first seeing Allura. Like that Ouran vision is amazing AND THEN THAT SHOUNEN SHOT I’M DYING. JEALOUS LANCE!!! 

Okay, here’s where I’m a little disappointed. The reunion with Shiro is a little stale and stiff, yes there’s a hug but there’s nothing about Shiro saving Matt when they were prisoners. Him calling him ‘Sir’ is a little strange, I’m sure he was higher up than him, and him being a Paladin is intimidating, but in a reunion none of that really matters.

CUE MONTAGE OF PIDGE BEING ADORABLE AND SHOWING HER BROTHER THE CASTLE

Matt: “Hey, this is pretty goo- d.” HE MAKES FUCKING PUNS I LOVE HIM

I love Pidge’s messy little room, she kept her trash versions of the paladins and even some of the trash bugs. AND MATT JUST LOVES HIS SISTER SO MUCH AND IS VERY PROUD AND I’M SURE THEIR DAD IS TOO

Color coded or you’re an animal is the holts’ mindset. Matt calling Hunk and genius and HE’S SO SMUG ABOUT IT!! HE KNOWS HOW SMART HE IS!! 

Hunk: “This one time, we went to another reality. It was pretty lame.” Matt: “Wait, you what? You were in another reality?” Pidge: “No big deal.” hovers away Matt: “My little sister.”

HE!! LOVES!! HER!!!

i’ll never get over how coran and allura talk to animals and like milkshakes. adorable!! Lance playing video games to blow off steam and jealousy. Honestly.. same. I’m so happy they got their video game set up. Lance knowing how to milk a cow. Iconic. HE CHUGS MILK LIKE DAMN SON AND DRINKS MILK BY ITSELF??

TECH TRIO!! I LOVE THEM!! THEY ARE ALL SO SMART AND I’M VERY PROUD!!

CO PILOT MATT!! CO PILOT MATT!!! I LOVE HIM!!

I’m still trying to figure out why Narti was a spy and was given Kova to begin with? What where her intentions? Haggar just wanted to keep an eye on Lotor, she knew something was up with him, and Narti was the only option. Like the death seemed to be for shock value, they could have gotten rid of the cat. Idk at this point. Ezor and Zethrid obviously begin doubting him at this point, wanting to save their own skins, while Axca is trying her best to say by his side. But we see how that plays out later. 

Episode 4: The Voltron Show! Now, I’m a fan of this episode because: Coran focus and it gives us a moment to breathe. But, it has it’s iffy moments, AKA the ‘Humorous Hunk’ joke. I hated it so much, like poor Hunk I felt so bad for him. Of course, we know something was manipulating Coran but that’s just mean and humiliating. The Yuri on Ice, Jurassic Park and Star Wars references are great, plus aerial dancer Lance. 

And the iconic: Coran: “Allura, you’ll be playing Keith.” Allura: “HEAAHGHG”

Shiro: “I will save the princess, even if it means taking on the Galra Empire with my bare.. hand.” i’m dyingg 

literally everyone else is reading the script deadpan as possible and LANCE IS THE OVERLY EXCITED THEATER KID I LOVE IT.

Episode 5: Begin the Blitz Wow, we get to see Keith again! 

Axca is still trying so hard not to doubt Lotor by telling herself he’ll protect them. 

Hunk is accepting of Nyma and Rolo while Pidge is still unsure, that’s unexpected, but she can’t stay mad at a cute robot. I love how she loves robots it’s adorable.

ALLURA SPEECH!! I LOVE HER!! 

PIDGE AND HUNK FIGHTING TOGETHER!! HUNK BEING A BAMF AND KILLING A MAN BY ELBOWING HIM IN THE FACE AFTER HE HURTS PIDGE!!

God Lotor looks so defeated when visiting Daibazaal. I feel bad after his plan fails and his generals turn on him. They suspect after his failure he’ll just turn on them suddenly, but they don’t know about Narti being a spying and it’s frustrating. He didn’t even explain it to them, so both sides are at fault here. He wasn’t even expecting their betrayal. Like yikes.

Episode 6: A New Defender This episode is wild.. like wow

Lotor flies barely above the surface of a star and lives?? He’s desperate to complete his plans, whatever they are. 

Haggar is awesome this episode like she’s crazy and i love it 

This episode was tense and had my heart racing, I knew they would be okay but this situation was insane. The fact that the camera is on Lance and goes for Allura first when she’s being electrocuted, then asks if she’s okay. 

ANOTHER ALLURANCE MOMENT AND I’M LIVING!! Lance cares so much for Allura and supports her in every way he can. Allura’s magic is back and it’s beautiful!! I love Princess Allura!!

Allura: “Thank you, Lance.” Lance: “That was all you.”

The 100 ‘The Chosen’

I can't believe this is the second last episode of the season! It's gone by so fast! And by the looks of the promo for the finale I think this season is probably my favourite season of the show. I've absolutely LOVED this season! And the thoughts of what S5 could be are mind blowing!

Skaikru getting thrown out of the bunker was heartbreaking. And to have us follow that little boy. This show likes to mess with my emotions. My favourite part of that scene was Murphy and Niylah (Richard and Jessica Harmon) finally interacted! But man, was that scene intense. I mean, Skaikru had all settled into the bunker and thought they were safe. And then to be told that over 300 of them are going to die. I can’t even imagine how they’re feeling.

So Jaha decided to go with his idea and hold a lottery. Sure, that’s the fairest option. They decided to save all the important people first. Clarke, Bellamy, Jaha, Kane, Abby (although Abby said she didn’t deserve a spot in the bunker) etc. And all the kids, because they’re young and will be able to reproduce. So that left 80 spots. That’s not many. When you think about it that is not many people at all.

Papa Miller writing Nate’s name instead of his own broke me. This is taking me back to S1 when those 300 people sacrificed themselves on the Ark. That dad with his little boy accepting that he’s going to die and asking Jaha to take care of his son. The parallels to the culling were a bit too emotionally overwhelming.

It is a bit unfair considering Jaha is the one who found the bunker. And it’s true that the Grounders know next to nothing about technology and won’t know how to make food and water etc. So I get their argument. Skaikru will basically be running the bunker so they should have more people. I get that. But the future of humanity is also important. If all the different clans integrate humanity will have a more diverse future. If they could all live as one people imagine how different and better the world could be.

Jaha’s plan to attack the Grounders was the stupidest thing I’ve ever heard. He was desperate to save his people, I know. But if they’d done it if would have been a blood bath. The situation they’re in sucks, but it’s their only option. Octavia was willing to kill them all. “My people, my responsibility.” She gave them time, and they didn’t do what she asked. The choice they have to make sucks, but it’s better than all of them dying.

Kane somehow managed to convince Jaha to not go through with the attack. Jaha finally listened to someone instead of going ahead with his own stupid plan. Skaikru wouldn’t listen to reason and so they gassed them. That left me really unsettled. They have turned into the Mountain Men. It was what they had to do though. It was either that or lots of death.

Clarke’s list did come into play. Kane didn’t like what he did, but he knows he had to. It was actually really sad seeing them carry the unconscious bodies. Either taking them into the bunker, or taking them out to die. Fuck.

Octavia literally looks like the Commander. People look to her as the Commander. They listen to her. The Grounders have well and truly taken her as their own. She won the Conclave and the Grounders had accepted that her people would get to take it, but Octavia did the honourable thing and shared it with them all. The respect her for that.

I loved when she rescued Niylah. She knows what it’s like to be caught between 2 clans. I think she now knows she’s not Skaikru. When she stood up to Jaha about being forced to live under the floor that was such a great moment! I feel like now Octavia knows who she is. She looks comfortable where she is at the moment. The Grounders accept and respect her. Except for when she was with Lincoln, I don’t think she’s ever felt like that before. Like she belongs.

Monty, Harper and Murphy are not on the list. So lucky they didn’t stay around. Now we come to Day Trip 3.0. Clarke and Bellamy were heading out to rescue Raven. They were wearing these awesome red suits. Lol, they looked great in them!

Clarke was wearing her hair in a plait, just like in S1, and it was making me all nostalgic. It was like when Abby said goodbye to Clarke just before the 100 were sent to the ground. And lets be honest, it was goodbye for good this time. Well, at least for 5 years.

Abby changed her mind about there being no good guys. She told Clarke that she is a good guy. I don’t know how I feel about that. Clarke is not perfect by any means, but I wouldn’t say she’s a good guy or a bad guy. She’s in the grey area. She has reasons for the decisions she’s made. But sometimes they are not the best decisions, like stealing the bunker for her own people. Everyone has reasons for doing the things they do. Even the most villainous characters, for example Cage, I can sympathise with. All he wanted was for his people to be able to live outside, even though it meant killing the 48. I understood his reasoning. One of the things I love about this show is that there are no inherently bad or inherently good guys. They’re all just characters with their own reasons for the decisions they make. I guess what I’m saying is I don’t know if I like that Abby redacted her previous comment. I like characters who are neither good nor bad.

Day Trip 3.0. Murphy and Emori decide to join them. Well, Emori has no chance of being on the list so her and Murphy are planning to go live in the lighthouse bunker. Although they probably won’t live very long down there.

Then we come to the moment where Bellamy and Clarke are having a heartfelt conversation and Bellamy is too busy staring at Clarke’s face that he accidentally runs someone over and crashes into a tree. Great job Bellamy. Seriously though, Clarke must know the way he feels about him after that. I mean, HE CRASHED INTO A FREAKING TREE BECAUSE HE WAS STARING AT YOU. The Bellarke on this episode was great.

It was an ambush. One person sacrificed themselves so that the other Grounders could have a chance at stealing the suits. That fight scene was intense!! Fuccckk!! I didn’t know how they’d get out of that. Luckily, Echo came riding (on her very beautiful horse!) and started shooting them with arrows. Who would have thought that Echo would come to their rescue?? I guess she’s no longer  a part of Azgeda so she has nothing to lose. She’s just trying to survive. I like Echo as a character, but have never really like her as a person. But she has started to redeem herself. I’m all for good redemption storyline so I’m happy she’s getting a second chance.

They left with 23 hours until Praimfiya. It takes 10 hours to get to the island, and 10 hours to get back. But because of Bellamy’s reckless driving, that cost them quite bit of time. Now they could either go back to the bunker and leave Raven, or go be with Raven and not make it back to the bunker. They decided to go be with Raven! Thanks god they did! I don’t want to think about Raven being left alone when the death wave hits.

The radiation had started to get worse. The colour of the sky and air looked really dark and reddish. Emori started getting sick because her suit had a hole in it. I love how protective of her Murphy is. Clarke gave her helmet to Emori. Clarke’s a nightblood so she hoped that would protect her from the radiation. But it didn’t. It didn’t work.

They got Monty and Harper to come rescue them and they all went to the island to be with Raven.

Raven was just sitting there realising that no one is coming to save her. She looked so sad. She had just decided to live and now she was going to die. But then the squad turned up and looked down on her in their awesome suits and took their helmets off in synchronisation. Haha loved that moment! #squadgoals

Bellamy hugged Raven and that was everything. And then Clarke’s plan. THEY ARE GOING BACK TO SPACE!! BACK TO THE ARK!!

Aaaaaah I am so so so happy!! Going back to space has been my theory since the S3 finale!! I can’t believe this is actually happening. It’s actually happening!!

That was an incredible episode!!! I can’t even put into words how amazing it was. I can’t stop watching the finale promo. It is going to be INSANE!!

So here’s what I think, S5 is going to be a parallel of S1. The adults on the ground and the kids in space. And the season will end with them coming back to Earth and everyone being reunited. But, Clarke might be left behind based on the shot of her in the promo. For some reason, maybe there not being enough space in the rocket, someone has to stay behind and Clarke volunteers. She has nightblood, but it seemed like it didn’t protect her from the radiation. But remember Luna got sick and then her body healed on it’s own. I think that’s what might happen to Clarke. She’ll get really sick when Praimfiya comes but then she’ll get better on her own because of her nightblood. She’ll survive and be waiting for them to come back. As much as I hate the thought of her being left on her own, it would make a great cliffhanger ending for the season! And I’m hoping we see more about the Second Dawn cult and the Penal Colony. Aaaah so many possibilities! My head is going to implode thinking of everything that could happen.  

As I said, I think this is my favourite season of the show. This episode was incredible and the next episode looks even more incredible! I’m constantly amazed by how good this show is.
