so one of my friends basically said this:

in the 70s when Lestat was calling for Louis thru Armand and Louis acted like this was the first time he heard of him since his killing?

remember in one of the episodes when Daniel insinuated that Lestat could have come back through feasting on rat's blood and Louis had a look as if that was indeed possible but he hadn't seen it yet?

So I said:

What if armand changes his mind before lestat goes on stage and then kills lestat for good and he didn't tell Louis? And next ep armand tells Daniel about the theater stuff and that lestat was back and that's when Louis finds out? Or he has a private interview and then later Daniel goes and tells Louis because Louis deserves to know?
