Rylen and Vix for the ship rating thing 🙂

Rylen was my first OTP for The Witchlands and still remains one of my favorites!  I’ve probably read Sightwitch more than any other book in the series.  I adore them!

Out of all the Witchlands ships, Vix is the one I feel the most neutral on.  Probably because Stix hasn’t gotten as much page time as the rest of the cast.  I am curious to see how things play out now that Stix is, well… you know….  👀

I feel like we need to come up with some ship names for all the ships in the witchlands... Should we all band together and come up with some? It could make it easier to track and then bring more notes to the witchland posts

I AGREE, WE NEED UNIFORMITY.

That being said, I am the actual worst at coming up with ship names, so...

I guess the first place to start would be deciding the format? The different formats I can think of are:

Name-mashing

Witchery-mashing

Or we could steal from the Pokemon fandom and do symbolshipping

Pros and cons for each of those:

Name-mashing:

Pro: Ensures the ship name will be unique

Con: Some names do not mash well and it's HARD DSGUHSUIGHSD

Witchery-mashing:

Pro: Easier to do and usually sounds ok no matter what

Con: What about characters without witcheries???

Symbolshipping:

Pro: Usually sounds good

Con: Is it unique enough not to overlap with the pokemon fandom lol

SO LET ME THROW OUT SOME OPTIONS FOR EACH FORMAT, and then people can decide which format they like best and throw out more options for those, and then I can gather people's responses and make another post (since reblogs don't show up in searches) with what seems to be everyone's preference?

Any Rylen and/or Vix headcanons?

Oh yes. (Sorry for the late answer. This semester is kicking my ass.)

Rylen:

1. Ryber steals Kullen’s shirts all the time. He buys extra just so she can have more.

2. Their very fair fights are disagreements over books.

3. Kullen sings sea shanties to Ryber all the time. He always chooses the sappiest, most romantic ones. Ryber loves it (and yes I’m writing a fic about this why do you ask).

4. Kullen is jealous of one being only and that is the rook. The rook takes up too much space so there isn’t enough room for Kullen to cuddle Ryber. The rook is jealous of Kullen for the same reasons. After an incident involving several vegetables and a spoon, there are now scheduled cuddle times for both of them so there are equal shares of cuddles.

5. They have many inside jokes involving books that nobody else understands. They find it funny to watch the confusion as people (Merik) try and fail to get the reference.

Vix:

1. Stix buys Vivia a baby fox for her birthday. They name it Jana and Stix trains her to mess with the annoying council members. Vivia does not stop this.

2. Their favorite date activity is pirating. They both think it’s the height of romance (they are correct).

3. Vivia makes the first move. She couldn’t help it after she saw Stix wearing her new glasses (whenever she may get them) and just kissed her. Stix never forgets to wear her glasses after that.

4. Whenever Vivia tells her about the high council members being nasty, Stix will secretly threaten them until they agree with Vivia. No one upsets her girlfriend.

5. As a paladin, Stix is good friends with the hagfishes. They help her set up her proposal to Vivia on the beach, complete with decorations looted off sunken ships (Vivia of course says yes).

The witchlands ships on a movie night

Safi x Merik - Chapter 24 of Safi, No

Aeduan x Iseult - constant agonizing over whether they’re sitting too close or glancing over at each other too much to be plausible 

Vivia x Stix - about halfway through, Stix reaches out and holds Vivia’s hand.  It’s not at a particularly scary or tense scene, she just does it.  And Vivia certainly isn’t going to let go, so they’re holding hands for the rest of the movie

Ryber x Kullen - for them, watching a movie is basically just an excuse to sit super close and cuddle for two hours.  The Rook watches the movie from Kullen’s shoulder

Safi x Caden - they don’t get to actually enjoy the movie because Caden spends the whole time relentlessly criticizing the actors 

Vivia x Vaness - they rarely have the time to watch movies together, but when they do it’s just a calming way to rewind for both of them

Witchlands: Modern AU!

Hey!! So @whydoyoucareaboutmyusername made these awesome aesthetics and press blurbs for a Witchlands Modern AU, and I used those (with their blessing!) as a jumping off point for what will hopefully be a multi-chapter fic of idk how many chapters. I’ll probably post one per week so I can still do drabbles throughout the week too. No promises, though, because I’m not the best with consistency and as with all the writing I do, even that which is wholly my own, I start strong and fade fast and never finish…

The witchlands ships and how casual they are with each other

Safi x Merik - “casual” as in, secure enough around each other to bicker and talk really openly with each other.  I would argue that neither Safi nor Merik are chill enough to ever be truly “casual”

Aeduan x Iseult - this is the ship where one person completely shut down when the other touched their palm and the other person’s heart rate rose when they saw the other person’s canine teeth, so even the slightest casual thing sends them into a panic

Vivia x Stix - actually extremely casual with each other at times (though internally flustered) and at other times not nearly as casual as they’d both like

Ryber x Kullen - in all ways except for literally, they are an old married couple

Safi x Caden - very, and tbh it shows in about 95% of the interactions they have with each other

Vivia x Vaness - “You may keep the pencil”  uh.  no.

Mathew x Habim - In all ways including literally, they are an old married couple
